I agree Dorothy! I mean, I do come here for garden videos, it's true - but if there is a video I'm not interested in, how hard is it to just NOT watch? Their non-garden related stuff is probably less than one percent, I mean, come on! I love my garden, but I love my home too, so I enjoy learning all kinds of things from GA. I like that Laura and Aaron talk about what they learn as they go through a process... it's super helpful no matter what the topic. Besides, she did say, they'd put it on the Garden Answer Highlights channel.

Yes, you can definitely expand your channel a bit with your home improvements. It doesn’t have to be perfect videos Aaron… & Laura. I know how much care & time you put into your channel and your videos, do not think things must be ‘just so’ to give us a video. I learned that from you Laura…thru the years watching you garden. You’ve taught me the time is now and to be present. 🙂🪴♥️
I for one would absolutely love the home improvements. I watch this channel for the people, I’m not a gardener at all. I love house programs but don’t watch any on RUclips as they don’t hold my interest. Yet I’m not a natural gardener and am hooked on GA and highlights! Imagine how hooked I’d be if these lovely people were talking on a subject I’m more into! (I have gained garden confidence/interest through them though😇)
Also as far as Benjamin: You become what you are surrounded by.. he hears positivity and feels love from his parents and grandparents whereby making him a sweet little boy. Bravo 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Don't feel bad Laura, I'm a 55 yr old Marine Corps Vet and those coming home military videos make me cry like a school girl. When I was in the Corps in the 80's, Ann and I were gone to California for a year then came home without telling anyone and surprised our mothers. It was very emotional and our Mom's are both gone now and Ann's Dad as well. We still have those memories though and maybe that is why it hits me so hard.

Exactly. You two always talk to him, to your family members, and to each other so lovingly (at least on camera 😉), so that’s how he thinks humans act. If only there were true for everyone, this world would be a much nicer place.

love the podcast!! hubby watched with me today.. i have to say: Aaron, i believe, has had a powerful influence on the man in my life (for over 36 years).. he's always been supportive of my gardening, but now he's more interested and actually listens to some of the things i've learned, esp if i preface with "well, Laura or Aaron says..."... and it's just fun to hear him talking to friends and saying stuff like, oh give it a hard prune, it'll grow back in a flash! so thank you both for that!!! and can you believe i choked up just watching the clips from that wedding??? egads, i'm such a softie, lol.... :)

Hi ladies, I do love Katherine from “Do it on a dime” and recognize that the point is to be thrifty, however I’m not crazy about buying so much plastic. There are so many ways in which we can’t avoid it, I would love to know about other organizers that try to utilize other product materials. I will definitely check out the others mentioned here. Your channel is such a delight! I’ve lived in various places and have gardened in Alaska since 1973 and still learning so much. You both are so motivating! Who else is starting new flowerbeds when they’re 75? I said I needed to simplify and cut back due to my age, but then Laura came along with inspiration galore! So yesterday I bought some penstemon and was familiar with it because of your channel. By the way, did you know Alaska has a bunch of peony farms and is the only supplier in the world during summer months?

Hi Laura, For a harvest/halloween hunt: if you save the plastic eggs from Easter, glue twine at the top of one side, it becomes an acorn, and you can do a harvest hunt. As the kids get older you can put a fine fluorescent bracelet (found in most party sections) in the egg/acorn and do an night halloween hunt.

Places like Lowes and Home Depot turn their garden centers into Christmas displays at this time of year - so you probably won't find a lot of Fall options there. I love the whimsical face on the tree.

I’ve used preen for years in my flower beds and it is a game changer.
Words of Encouragement must be Benjamin’s love language. He really is such a sweet soul. So mature and a blessing to know he will be a fine young man in such a disrespectful world. Great job mom and dad!
I am also just like you on those military and children hearing and seeing for the first time videos. Soooo sweet. I am almost legally blind and when I was young I got my first pair of glasses (that was decades ago) and my mother was amazed on our way home. I knew there were leaves on a tree, but I had never been able to “see” the leaves in detail on a tree. I noticed details that I had never seen in my life everywhere I looked. I get it and those really get me weepy.
I feel you, Laura. Military home-coming videos get me EVERY TIME. Especially when it’s young kids reacting to a parent coming home. 😭
FYI: Preen extended works better than regular preen. You will never go back. Here in Florida we have multiple weed germinating times and need to use Preen every 3-4 months. Preen is amazing if you use it right.

@@SenterStuff Dollar weed is a water loving monster. It grows by long tendrils and is hard to get rid of unless you can dry it out. On the bright side it is edible. Maybe call it your salad patch 🤣

I used Preen for the first time this year - GAME CHANGER!!
I have hand dug edging like you are doing as well as rented a machine.
Definitely would chose to hand dig. Those machines are heavy and can be very messy in the grass area.
Best after a rain... Can replant or move sod when it is dryer.

I can’t thank you enough for the inspiration. I’ve introduced drip irrigation on timers in parts of my garden and who knew consistent water made such a difference!!! And I totally appreciate the honesty when things don’t go as planned. My limelight hydrangeas I planted have gone floppy and because of information in this video, I realize it’s because I cut them back too much in late winter/early spring. I’ll do better next year!
