Lyrics:
So, wait for me, please
(Wait for me)
Alright, I guess that's more than I should ask
But, won't you wait for me (Wait for me)
Although I know the light is fading fast

Who's here 2024
May 16th 2024...❤ this song !
Me
This has been my favorite Hall & Oates song for 42 years, and I didn’t realize there was a video for it until a few seconds ago.
Mine too
18 years old, mine as well, also possession obsession. Let me know any obscure gems you guys know
It's a damn shame they don't play it live anymore. At least when I saw them in Tampa last September, they omitted it. C'mon, guys! Put it back in the show.
@Lisa Cunningham Honestly, he can't hit the notes anymore. I just saw them live and it was not good. So disappointed, I was really looking forward to it.
same!
It's 1979 and I'm dropping my new girlfriend off at college, my first real love at 19. So hard to leave and not see her for weeks, and this song comes on the radio. It's been 42 years, she waited for me and we've been married for 39 years...
Lucky man
Smack dat azz!
Tim Traver woooow good to you sir!and that stupid guy just have ghosted me for two weeks after few dates, I really wish I had romance last long like yours 😭🙏🏻
YOU ARE ONE THE FEW LUCKY ONES,GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR WIFE
YAY!!! I was hoping you guys had gotten married when you mentioned College. Congratulations on 37yrs!. Aah, the memories right.
This is Real Music...
Greats Voices....
CLASSIC FOREVER.
Broke down and cried when I heard this. It took me back to when I d spend a week or so during summer at my grandfolks. I d play in the back yard. My aunt would sun herself with the radio playing. Later, she or Granny would take me someplace be it the pool, the library, the skating rink. Wherever. I makes me think of those happy times and how I miss them sometimes. I m 51 now, Granny n Pa are gone now and Aunt s health is sketchy, but I 'll always treasure those times I was blessed to have with them.
lovely story
I’ve never heard this before. Can’t hear it enough now!
Thanks being a major part of the soundtrack of my life. Much love my Brothers!
Hall & Oates define a generation. Heart felt thank you!
Such an exquisitely haunting song
My favorite Hall & Oates song of all time, hands down. One of my favorite songs too. So much EMOTION in Hall’s voice❗️😭
This is such an underrated H&O song. Love it!
+Vitreous Lamella I totally agree with you, they had so many fantastic songs but I still think this is my favourite.
+Vitreous Lamella It's my favorite one. Have you seen the version of this with Daryl Hall and Pat Monaghan, from Train? It will make the fine hairs stand up, it's that good.
+Stacy Steele your right it is a good version but I always thought till now it was a train song...Steve D
Steve D The strange thing, Steve, is that I had that song playing when you beeped in. Synchronicity at it's finest.
+Vitreous Lamella I love Train but Daryl Hall nails this song
hall and oates is one of the most underrated american rock groups. overlooked and devalued, the music speaks for itself. Timeless.
+James Hughes well said James and spot on!
+James Hughes ... I saw them in 03'..THEY are FANTASTIC! You are right, very timeless! Also very UNDERRATED! ~* ( FYI~* They had 8 # 1's from 77's " Rich Girl"..was their first one! I love these singer/songwriters...I am now 52, They were right in my era!
I was born in 81 and missed all of this but I've found it in my 30s and I'm so happy. These guys have so many hits how can they not be one of the top groups of all time? I could make a mix of nothing but hall and Oates and it would be hours of just greatness.
I missed them by 30 years and now Im stuck with Nicki Minaj and crappy so called "artists" like that. :/
Daniel Baker: What matters is you found this great music. Even if it's 30 years too late enjoy and keep searching. There's a lot more out there. This was my era of music. I've loved it then and still enjoy it today. It doesn't get old to me!
Reminds me of when the world didn't totally suck.
41 yr old song & still sounds great...H& O Rock It!!
Going away to college, been with Kim 2 1/2 years. She waited, two ground sons and together 44 years
This is one of the best songs I've heard in my life!!! Because it explains a lot of things.. There's never enough time...
I'm black and very much into rap and hip hop but hands down hall and oats are one of the greatest music groups I've heard outside of rap and hip hop. Can't deny it
Back in the day quite a few of their songs hit the R & B chart. I remember they were considered rock n' soul because they didn't fit into one category. Make sure you check Live from Daryl's House.
showtyme213 that's why they're the only Caucasian band whose music made it to 100.3 philly lol
Actually, black radio broke them first. Rock stations would not play "Sarah Smile" because they thought they were black. Same thing with "She's Gone." But, the black audience embraced them immediately because the music was so good.
Me too man me too, they've got alot of soul!!
Same
people who lived then are the only ones who understand the difference of the world today
Oh boy, ya got that right !!! ❤
you hear Daryll's voice and you're instantly brought back to the better days...
Definitely! One of the best
Definitely! One of the best
Yes, he has an awesome voice!
The voice 💞
Better days was the 80's I wish I could go back I'd stay there forever!
This never gets old. I was born in the 90's but this is one of my all time favourite classical music. Thanks to Dad for introducing this masterpiece to me at a very young age.
The lyrics excellently describe the anxiety and joy that can mutually exist when being in a romantic relationship. "Love is what it does, and ours is doing nothing / But all the time we spend, it must be good for something." One of Daryl and John's best songs!
"Love is what is does, and our is doing notjinf / but all the time we spend it musy be good for something " 🎶
great lyrics.
Agreed. ❤
Amen to that ...best blue eyed soul singer ever...amazing talents
👍❤
Best duo of all times, now finally in the Hall of Fame of Rockn Roll
Aldo Ramirez Zamudio 9
Aldo Ramirez Zamudio. please they were no simon and garfunkel. nor everly brothers...
Ken Dixon Your right, they were BETTER!!
One of my favorites of their songs.
The best song ever.....2024 anyone?
one of...
I was 18 when this came out and still think it's their best song, and that's saying a lot considering the vast number of great tunes they've had.
Absolutely my favorite Hall and Oates tune. Daryl is pure magic .
I love this song!!! Its Timeless!! I loved it 20 years ago & I Love it still Today!!!
one of the oldey but still goodle!
Beautiful and powerful music.
the beginning guitar solo is epic
Lil Wayne sampling this brought me here
G.E. Smith is another highly underrated musician/guitarist
This song and Adult Education are my faves of all H&O songs. Neither one was ever overplayed to death on the radio, so they never got old and worn out 🙌🏼👌🏼🎶
Love this song.....speaks to my soul
This song never fades🖒🖒🖒
Music that is so good, you remember and tears stream down your face !
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG. IT BRINGS BACK MEMORIES AND ALMOST MAKES ME CRY BECAUSE IT TOUCHES MY HEART 💖
0
If you watch the cover played at Daryl's house with the singer from train, you will cry.
Understand COMPLETELY
This song was great back when i was a kid...at 56 it still ROCKS!!!
ONE OF THE MOST BEATIFUL SONG IN THE WORLD EVER
Swooning at 2:47 - 2:58... Darryl Hall
The song's lyrics and structure hae a real 60's soul/Motown quality with a 70's production sound
Great song. Love Hall and Oates. One of the best songs I've ever heard.
名曲だなー。学生時代が懐かしいです。
❤Me Too! from Kyoto.🎉
Wait for me is my most favorite song.
Thank you so much!❤😮😮
I love Oates' backing harmonies "...wait...wait for me, ahh, wait for me..."
exactly. my fave part of the song
ironically, it's John's harmony that brings in the blue eyed soul to Daryl's lead.
not taking away from Charlie Dechant in any way.
Montrey .. Frankly it's all about Daryl .. A freakish singer with a great backing group that includes John Oates on rhythm guitar and backing vocals.
Daryl’s on backing vocals too...
I don't see how you could not like this song. Definitely one of my favorite songs of all time!
Also love the music video. the background of all of the electrical components of a radio, just awesome.
Takes me back. Can listen with my eyes closed.... Such a great song

LYRICS
Midnight hour almost over
Time is running out for the magic pair
I know you gave the best that you have
But one more chance
Couldn't be all that hard to bear
Wait for me please
Wait for me
Alright, I guess
That's more than I should ask
Why won't you wait for me
Please wait for me
Although I know the light is fading fast
You could go either way
Is it easier to stay
I wonder what you'll do
When your chance rolls around
But you gotta know how much
I want to keep you
When I'm away I'm afraid
It will all fall down
So wait for me please
Wait for me
Alright, I guess
That's more than I should ask
Why won't you wait for me
Please wait for me
Although I know the light is fading fast
Love is what it does
And ours is doing nothing
But all the time we spent
It must be good for something
Please forgive all the disturbance
I'm creating
But you got a lot to learn if you think
That I'm not waiting for you
So wait for me please
Wait for me
Alright, I guess
That's more than I should ask
Why won't you wait for me
Please wait for me
Although I know the light is fading fast
Yes it is
Waiting
You got a lot to learn if you think
That I'm not waiting for you
So wait for me please
Wait for me
Alright, I guess
That's more than I should ask
So why won't you wait for me
Please wait for me
Although I know the light is fading fast
Yes it is
You got a lot to learn if you think
That I'm not waiting for you
Wait for me please
Wait for me
Alright, I guess
That's more than I should ask
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Thank you for the words. It make me cry and humbles me to reality. Thinking of my twin sister who passed waybtoo early. 52 and we had pact that we leave planet together like we came in. 😢
Miss the rich harmonies and true vocal talent of the 70's and 80's.
楽しい思い出が甦る💖
I LOVE this song!! Love Daryl Hall & John Oates❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Mr. Robot Brought me here. Get some rest Dom.
JUST GET ON THE PLANE, DARLENE !!!
Road trip!
Same
One of my favorite H&O songs, totally got goosebumps when it started playing in last week's Robot!
Adam wood, the last 5 seconds were absolutely mind blowing.
I love Hall and Oates. My sis had a mad crush on Darryl and I was an Oates girl. So many memories..
+Misty Aoudia John Oates FOREVER!!!
he was cuter for some reason.
Dude has a mustache so strong it could bench press twice he could.
I had a mad crush on their music!! Makes me even happier! I can take that music and make it shine just like it's always gonna be a little bit 'o mine. They do make me smile, though. My Husband loved them. I'd ride around in my car just lisening to them ; Van Halen; the Brothers. Afterwards, making dinner was INSPIRED! Great to be married to your "Soul Mate". Esp., when it's such a musical soul. Please remain HEALTHY; HAPPY; in an acceptable AMERICAN Way!Be Kind!
Oates' book is a great read for any Oates fan.
No one has a better voice than Hall......
dont speak conclusively
hypocrite...
you're right!!
the dude can sing anything, top 100 singers of all time in my honest opinion
yes dragonforce thanks mom
I remember the first time hearing Daryl Hall & John Oates on the radio when I was a teenager. I'm 57 years old now and I'm feeling rather nostalgic.
i'm 20 years younger than you and it's nostalgic for me too, but also john oates vocals too, i think the music is just timeless
Ese adolescente revive cuando escuchas esta música. Saludos 🌻
@@lunalunita6957 absolutely does!
We’re the same age 🎉🎉🎉
曲の入り方がオシャレ😚
Most favorite of their songs - Daryl Hall's voice is so much richer now. Love the version with Pat Monahan of Train!
ok but Pat doesn't have Daryl's passion
@@alysonsomerville3654 you might need to check out the end of the Daryl's house video. Pat will bring the passion right out of whoever heard him singing this
Yeah that version is my favorite!
My mom was a big fan of these two...great artists who have a genuine respect for the game!
Nothing like Hall and Oates to take you back:
Absolute best 80s duo
I swear I thought this song was from the 80s but came to realize it was released in 1979! It sounds so ahead of its time! That's why I love it! It'll never get old!
CJ HotWheels.......It actually peaked at #18 in early 1980
Close enough
Not ahead of it's time at all. Pop music made in 79-80 was pretty interchangable
70's music deserves more love.
Billboards says it hit the top 40 12-1-1979.
Forever Young Daryl. Remember that baby 💘
いつ聴いてもいい曲。
Why did i ever forget this song....? 😂 my heart is beating again❤
One of my favorite Hall and Oates songs. It has it's special magic the music is awesome I was a teenager when it was release and it's still one of their best to me :)
Had this song in my head the whole day
名曲だね😁
大好きな曲!
I've been searching for this song since 1980
So you waited for the song to show up?
Hall and Oates A blend of Soul Rock and Funk fused all in one dynamic duo of great music.
All time favorite Daryl and John tune. With their catalog, that is saying something.
I saw Hall and Oates at the Warner Theatre in Torrington CT. in 2007. It was such a personal experience that helped me to connect with their music as I had never done before. I always loved them. They added classical string sections to many of their songs. It was amazing. I still have a disc of their “shows to go” of that night. An unforgettable night it was. Thank you John and Daryl for the great music you added to all of our lives.
ホール&オーツの中でも一番のお気に入り〜…、よくカラオケで歌ってたよ〜…❗️❗️。
why don't more people know this song?
It was 18 in the Top 100 when it came out.
Probably becuz it was overshadowed by their 80's hits. I also never heard it much on the radio. No matter though. This song is still a classic.
It kind of feel into a dead zone when radio programmers left it off recurrent rotation. It deserves a comeback and fits right in with the classic hits sound.
because it was a pretty dull song and nothing like their usual upbeat stuff
I can't stop watching this, ever since I saw them in concert last month!! A forgotten gem!!
Cmon gen x ,who was there in 84'?
This came out in 1979, from the album, X-Static.
This song is on the soundtrack of my life. I remember them playing this song every Saturday night as the last couples skate at the local roller rink. God I adore H&O...
I have always loved this song and Daryl looks dead gorgeous.
Hall and Oates are legends
明るく優しい笑顔で励ましてくれた女友達を思い出してしまいます。ありがとうの一言を言いたかった。
As I recall spending the last days and moments with a special girl I was secretly in Love with before she left far away for college and a new Life elsewhere, this song rings as clear as day when I first heard it. I wished so much I told her my feelings, but now years later, I can only sit and wallow in my regret... As the biggest idiot whoever stood on the face of the Earth... If only I can go back, if only...
I had a similar experience. It was the summer of 1980. I was dating this girl, and I knew that what we once had was fading. I just couldnt get myself to believe it. anyway, one of our last dates was seeing Hall and Oates at the Boylston Theatre in Boston - they were touring for the Voices album. They did this song, since it was a hit at the time. Everytime I hear this song, it brings me back to that summer.
A year later, but no late... That's the secret budy, it's never too late
Thank you for sharing .It was deffinitly in the stars for you both
Dang bro, whatever happened to her?
青春の思い出の曲です。今はレコードもなくなってしまったが、このようにユーチューブで聞けることに感謝しています
最高ですよね😊
Daryl Hall, a genius songwriter.
How Can You Not Like These Great Song's By Daryl Hall & John Oates,Their The Best 💯 Period
Those was one of those songs that I "discovered" quite late in the game.I was listening to Rock and Roll Soul cd and this came on. Put it on repeat like 6 times. Great song.
Beautiful melodic song. It reminds me a bit of Todd Rundgren's stuff. Timeless.
CrimsonRed yes could b a Todd song !
They both are from Philly
John Siegler on bass has played with Todd R over the years.
I have always thought Todd's song "Can We Still Be Friends" would have been a top 10 hit if Hall and Oates recorded it.
@@Arturo-sm1tb You could be right. Robert Palmer's version wasn't that successful (US #52) but Hall & Oates probably would had done better than that. Palmer had other (bigger) hits both before and after the release of "Can We Still Be Friends" though. Todd and Hall & Oates have worked together several times: Todd produced the not so successful 1974 album "War Babies" , Hall & Oates were guests on Todd's 1978 live album "Back to the Bars" and Todd was guest vocalist on Hall & Oates version of New Radical's "Some Day We'll Know" (I love both the original and the cover version).
One of their best .... one of my favourites
my favorite hall&oats song.
I love their live version on their greatest hits album Rick and Soul. Darryl Hall is amazing with his live performances.
Mine too!!
Hall and Oates still hot!
joe gonzales And you're still desperate.
David G. He didn't mean their looks lol. He meant their music.
What do you mean still??
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SONG OF THESE GREAT ARTISTS, IT TAKES ME BACK TO A TIME AND PLACE WHERE I HAD HOPES OF A HAPPY LIFE,I SANG THIS SONG TO THE WOMAN OF MY DREAMS THAT ONE DAY WOULD COME AND TO THE CALM AND SIMPLE LIFE THAT I ALWAYS WANTED TO LIVE.I WAS ,I AM AND ALWAYS BE A DREAMER
I’m 21 years old, I was just about to take my plane to see my boyfriend who lives in Sweden and I’m in Mexico, I was finishing my meal at 2 AM in the duty free stores, I was in the KFC alone and suddenly this song came up in the radio, then “one on one”, I guess one of the most beautiful songs and voices that I’ve ever heard cause it has that nostalgic beautiful and meaningful feeling ❤ IM A CRAZY FAN NOW
1979 and I waited for you... Sun in my eyes, always waiting.
one of their best
God, I love the 80's
I love H&O
God, I love the 70's. Such great music back then.
@@josephvalenzuela311 😍😍😍
I love both the 70s and 80s 🎶🎵🪕🎼. I love this song and concert from 1986 because I bought tickets for my hub and I we were so young and had our first baby girl and our friends ❤watched her for us. We had the best time and danced to this song. That sweet little girl grew up and left us a beautiful boy before she left this 🌎. Sorry to be so dramatic but this song kills me everytime 💖
Love hall and oates always❤😊
H & O 's best song......no question......
this song and It's a laugh are my two favorites-used to hear them on the overnight FM show back in the day. Long live the 70's! Those of us who were lucky to come of age then were surrounded by good times and good music-innocence is now lost.
I'm Metalhead since 25 years ago, but hall and Oates it's one of my fauvorite bands ever, I loveit
great voice and great sound
I listened to Wait for Me on Daryl’s House and Daryl was a lot older when he performed it on Daryl’s House. He is like a really good wine his voice just gets better with age.
I loved the fact Todd Rundgren joined him on that one
