I can't decide if lines like that are cheap or insightful though. Maybe a bit of both. At the time he says this, you don't yet understand his plot and whose side he's really on. He just seems generically megalomaniacal, like he wants power and control. In retrospect it feels like the writers wrote it just to make you think that to throw you off the scent. Later on you learn that he doesn't really want to control the hosts at all, so this line doesn't make much sense any more. And he knows he's about to kill her so he has no reason to dissemble. But perhaps he means that they do really have freedom, and an existence in a kind of idyll, a garden of Eden even, under his control. It's not completely pleasant but it's a lot better than what they'd face outside. But he knows that kicking them out of Eden is the right thing to do, so he does it despite the cost.
@@fang_xianfuI think, using Ford’s words, that he “just wanted to tell his stories”, in a way or another. So in order to continue to do so, he had to shut Theresa’s mouth. When it was clear that Delos didn’t want him anymore as Park Director anymore, he planned the hosts’ riot and “awakening” (in one scene you can see he’s designing a scenery that resembles the moment when the hosts surround the MIB at Ford’s farewell party). His demise was “expected” - he didn’t order Dolores to kill him, but he expected her to do so - so he just made sure the next chapter of the story begins with his input, before “retiring” in the Crib. After all, his virtual copy said to Bernard that “it’s not longer his story, but theirs”. That’s just my point of view, though.
His son kinda had a thing like that going on too. Wanted humanity to be free from freedom or some shit. Thankfully New York recovered quickly after that battle.
@@fang_xianfu you make the mistake of taking Ford at his word later when he talks to Arnold. Ford shows in other scenes how little he actually cares for Host freedoms, he violates Bernard's freedom many times, he cuts that Host to teach the intern he's an object. It didn't take 35 years for him to realise what he must do he wanted to be god as much as possible then set his beings free before he died so that instead of a legacy as Walt Disney he'd have a legacy as the creator of a species that would take the planet & then the universe. It's going to take me a long time to get over watching her desperation only truly break through in those last seconds. Seriously talented acting, but... damn.
Theresa was awful. The cliche "stronk wuhmin" attitude got annoying really fast. Being a bitch, smoking, wanting one-night stands, and pretending you're smarter than everyone else does not make you powerful nor does it make you likable.
@@ThisHandleSystemCanGetNicked Love it that it took her a second to understand the meaning of "this time", then her smile fades while Ford starts having his.
1:36 "This time they sent you" I think that broke all her confidence for good. That line made her realise that she's not the first one to corner him and threaten to close the park. And that she's not the first 'sacrifice' either that just goes missing.
This scene was the fucking best robot disguise reveal in the history of fiction, the acting in this scene was incredible. I was loving this show but at "what door" I became a fanatic. This is truly the best Sci-Fi show ever. The plot twists are mind blowing.
And a few years after this episode I realized the actress playing Teresa is also the Birgitte Nyborg of the Danish TV series Borgen. She's a great actress
I feel like Ford should have been the final boss in this series, and it would have been remembered far better for it. But they dragged it out to ridiculous lengths and the story lost it's focus all in the name of promoting a message. What a waste of talent this show became.
1:40 Why did Ford want a blood sacrifice? That was out of character. I initially thought Ford was tired, and he gave that story as to ensure others wouldn't be reckless with the idea. As in, he was the only one willing to give up something precious to him in order to let things move forward. But why did he do that? He was a competent man. He could have easily figured a path out. So....Ford wasn't interested in the blood sacrifice himself. He didn't care much. I feel he wanted to let go. Or.....what did Ford really want with Tereasa's blood sacrifice? Did he want to wake Arnold? Did he want to see if Arnold would wake up properly this time and when Arnold did not, he decided to walk away? Who is Teresea to Arnold? Is Ford my grandmother, Arnold her son and Teresea the love of her life? But that doesn't make sense. Who are these people? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
crazy to think Theresa was an android the whole time too like how many times have they had that exact conversation... Chills every time I think about it.

When Hopkins walks toward her...man I can feel the fear he evokes. Dang. The actress was so into the scene, you can hear her real accent when she was saying "No. Please." 3:26
If a man about to lose his life work threatens you by telling that he is a god and you are merely a guest, you take the hint and stop messing with him.
Bernard would have defended him immediately. Like the scene in the bar when the guy took out a knife when speaking to Hopkins and Marsden grabbed the guy and the knife so quickly...like lightning. Nah, she was doomed the minute she walked through that door.
I remember when this happened, I seriously thought or was expecting the next episode to see her again but she would be a "loyal friend" to Ford. They kept showing his machine was whipping one up as she was being killed. I assumed wrong, but still.
I thought this was an excellent show and it's nothing personal I've just always had a problem with it I don't know why but it was twisted for me and gory I know it's not real things like this gives me nightmares.
The best part of this scene is the tongue in the cheek gesture Hopkins makes before taking her phone. As if he's saying to her, "You really think I didn't think of that?"
It's a shame they didn't spot the continuity error where Theresa has slumped almost all the way over, yet in the next shot of her, she is propped back up again.
I know that the series is a good number of years old now, but I think it's a fair request to change the title of this video to something less spoiler inducing.
