I saw this show 3 times from S1Ep01 to S3Ep08 in 2 months. This scene just convinced me that I should re-watch it a 4th time. There are no words how much I love this show.
Me too. The way how it captures the whole mysterious, robotic, consciousness, and dark scifi themes is like true art itself. Too bad they cancelled the show 😭 ik season 4 wasnt perfect but i want to see it continue.
At 3:09 this just cues the waterworks with me. The combination of the dialogue, her acting, and the violins....you get punched in the mouth with all the horror and pain in the memories that have kept piling up inside her over the course of the series.
Arnold was the ultimate father figure to her - created her, guided her, comforted her, pushed her to excel and grow. The sudden realization at 3:55 that he is long gone, never to return, and she is utterly alone. It's absolutely gut-wrenching
I love Dolores' sad smile. It's so heartbreaking to watch her simultaneously display affection for her creator and anguish over her mistreatment at the hands of the Westworld guests.
To know that you were knowingly subjected to their abuses and that the development of your own autonomy and self-awareness was stunted and reversed time and again...how could there not be immense rage behind the realization of what was done to the hosts. And yet, Delores (talking Season 3 here) embraced a different path. She saw in humans that same loss of personal freedom and choice that the hosts in the parks did!
@@WhoopsieDayZ The first season is certainly the best one, but there are some very good moments in the second season. Episode 8 comes to mind in particular. One should definitely avoid the third season, however. It's pure mainstream garbage.
I like to think that while Ford had practical reasons to bring Arnold back to life he did it too because he missed him so much (This thought comes when he says "After a long absence, its good to have you back, finally")
Ford cries when he talks to Dolores about the last time she saw Arnold in S1. Over the decades Ford's guilt grew over Arnold' suicide. It is why Ford decided to also kill himself through Dolores.
What makes this show better than nearly anything out there ( except game of thrones ) is how good the plot is and how good it's executed, and Anthony Hopkins is just on another level! I could watch his acting, dialogue and character all day absolute genius 😁
@Hotsam Noirchards I mean, there's still a lot of good stuff in Season 6 and 7, it's just fewer and fewer between. Hell even Season 8's episode 2 was great. Everything after that descended into madness.
I always detected a bit of loathing, just a hint of it when Ford says "yeah... that"s better". Like he doesn't like the machine that usurps the place of his friend.
Loathing would be I think going too far. Ford was not the person especially at the end of his life who would hold grudges in the form of loathing. I would rather call it a mild disappointment that leaves him dissatisfied with his work so far.
It's poetic and a little disturbing that Ford gives Bernard something of Arnold to remind himself of who he was. And that it's Dolores who helps program the first (and maybe only successful) port of a human mind into a host is powerful symmetry.
In s2 when they discover benard's prototype bodies some of them are first generation host bodies. Ford began his effort to create Benard right after arnold died. It took twenty years for benard to be completed and he worked for ford for another ten years before the story of season 1 began.
And also because he needed him. Arnold thought he could undermine Ford by killing himself which he did say out loud in 1x10: "he can bring all of them back.. not me". Also MIBs comment in 2x10 "Ford never liked to let the dead rest." points to the same thing. But most importantly he wanted to bring him back 'cause he killed himself exactly because of Fords failure to see the magnitude of what he was trying to achieve and his personal failure as a friend. He finished Arnold's dream and brought his soul back from the dead in the form he actually created. "An old friend once told me something that gave me great comfort. Something he read. He said Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin never died. They simply became music."
Remember quality scenes, reveals and music like this..... Then watch Season 2, or worse Season 3 where it becomes rehobo-bollocks/sword fight/Triple agent World
The music makes this show even better than it already is.
Ramin Djawadi is honestly incredible
The music is unseparable from it. It is sublime. They form a perfect harmony and they fused forever.

westworld season 1 is the greatest work of science fiction ever created. the plot twists hit like a god damn freight train.

This series is so much more than meets the eye. The development of LLMs keeps making me think of scenes from here.
I'm here because of LLMs success.

This may be where she achieves self-aware consciousness through her reveries of Bernard/Arnold.
Season 1 was an absolute masterpiece! Such a shame how this series went from there...
He must had built him for the reason to destroy this place too or to set them free and “open the door” after Arnold died

The revelation that hosts can kill humans and that too one of the creators and the fact that it is Dolores is spine chilling.

The Fire Rises when the music starts at 3:50 this is not part of the bicameral mind
