  • I am progressing and improving. I have made a couple of videos now, 2 I will upload today. I am happy to see the progress I've made in just a week, even though my latte art in this vid was a disaster :). My pump pressure was a bit lower than usual when extracting my double shot 18g. Otherwise it is always at 9.5 bar (set from factory).
    Although in the end I didn't get the foam as I wanted haha. It got too thick , and also I think I was too quick to use the machine after it had being in eco mode.
    Normally the frothing is really quick(not too quick, but just perfect) and nothing I have to worry about in terms of waiting for it. You just have to know how it works. I don't see any problem with it being capable of pulling back to back shots.
    After starting the pump I it has a nice pressure that encreases slowly in the beginning after starting the pump on the mara x.
    My first drops usually are between 10-12sec, I've heard that some use the lever half way a little to soak the coffee before starting the pump. So I far I don't find that necessary. What do you think?
    I will check what temperature settings I have on the machine. I was a bit confused since I have 3 settings on the front and 2 settings on the right side and did not really know which of them that did what (espresso mode steam mode , hot or warm, maybe read the manual maybe ? Haha )
    This week- end I have been playing around with it trying different grind sizes and improved my routine with distribution even though I yet don't have a proper leveler.
    What I now would like also is to learn different recipes also for for example americano (now I have what I call my own strong americano 18gr in and around 42 grams out plus around 50grams water on top), Macciato latte, cappuccino and flat white

    No need to do a pre flush on this machine! That’s one of the nice things about it. I have the same setup, and really enjoying the output. Keep having fun my friend.

      Thanks my friend:)
      I haven’t had it for a long time and you are right about the “no flushing part” although sometimes when I’ve had it on for a long time, even after awakening it from eco mode, when I flush... I hear a “steaming noise “ from brew head/group indicating that it is too hot ...
      I am not sure why it is.
      Also, sometimes I just do it cause I have it as a routine:) sometimes cause it is after another shot and it rinses “ last shots coffee” that maybe got stuck in the shower screen.
      Nice to hear from another “member of the “ Lelit family “ ☺️
      I wish I new more about how the beans behave with grinder. I now have bought the 3rd bag of beans and these beans are more soapy after the shots in the pf when I knock off the puck...(first bag, another brand were a bit dryer and easier to handle).
      I also find the grinder to clump a bit when going as fine as it is required for 25- 30 sec from pump start.
      Talked to another guy who did “burr alignment “ and he has no clumping whatsoever he said after that... maybe I just buy too cheap beans ... we will see...
      I will elaborate this and see. I have to get a good scale... the one I have is not reliable unfortunately. So I do a lot guessing.
      I am great full for all the advice and cheering I get from all you guys 🙏🏻

      I really don’t remember what I had back then…
      Nowadays , depending on beans I have mostly between 1.5- 2.0. But from what I have heard some say that the setting is different between the grinders even if it is the same eureka specialita. I’m no expert though:). Sometimes I think I hear the burrs touch even before 0. When you dial in at 0.5-0.8 … do you hear them touching?
      Ethiopian beans are are dialed me in even finer than my normal settings

      I was a little sad though because just before I made the video I had succeeded with an ok latte art:)
      But it is typical when recording haha
      First bag of coffee was easy to dial in but now with second(another brand other beans) is harder . Today I hit 25sec with ratio 18 in and 36 out but it still taste a bit bitter. Also imo I had to go super fine with these beans and some clumping then appears unfortunately (probably normal).
      Maybe I just don’t like these beans. Plus, w
      Also, I find it actually a bi hard to evaluate some of the variables that can affect the taste. I mean, one could go a bit coarser and tamp harder and still get the same amount of time and grams in the cup just as you also can go a bit finer but not tamp so hard 😊

      @@AzizIzgin sorry, no. 6 bars is your exact warning flag of coarse grind. Timer is irrelevant, just look for grams/volumes if your machine has good temperature for long periods like maraX. Get the exact pressure first, then modify tamp and temp if you dislike the flavor 👍

      Thanks, I’ll keep in mind that timer is not as important. This was literally my first week with the machine and you have to excuse me inexperience as a home barista 😆
      I have progressed since then. Today my pressure is always at 10bars but I’ve heard that 9 is the sweet spot?
      I have been trying out different methods and beans etc. It has been an awesome journey.
      Sometimes I get some grinded coffee in the cup and don’t know why…
      Also , I clean it more often now than bed but unfortunately then I also have to lubricate the leaver for the e61 it seems…
      Regarding the grind that I get into the cup… some say that the distance from the shower screen is too far from the basket or something similar and that they have bought a “sleeve “ for it as a workaround… is this something you’ve heard?
      What I will do in the future is to make the “operation of the water bypass to the tank” so it doesn’t use too much water and also maybe try out the flow control kit.
      Thanks again for your comment.

    • @coffeeguy
      @coffeeguy 2 года назад

      @@AzizIzgin you look truly enthusiastic and I hope it will always be like this. I haven’t use mara X yet, it is on the way, but I get that coffee in the cup too with Kate (not an issue with Anita-57mm lelit filter). I think two reasons: 1- IMS filter has bigger and less number of holes compared to VST and the stock lelit basket. 2- it is due to the inconsistency of the grinder, and with a full basket, if you tap a few times to make it level, you send those smaller particles to the bottom of filter before you tamp. Although not sure about it. If you get any ideas or try something please let me know the outcome.👋

  • @fleurlewis
    @fleurlewis Год назад

    How do you descale it ? Yourself or by professional ?

    • @AzizIzgin
      @AzizIzgin  Год назад

      Actually descaling is not recommended unless you really need to do it. The key is to soften the water all the time so you don’t need to descale it. I always use water softener from Lelit in the tank and do back flushes to keep it clean.
      If you want to descale it you don’t need a professional. I believe Lelit has a video regarding it or just google it for this machine.
