Lelit Mara x Eureka Mignon Specialita 20g VST basket, 19,5 in and 40,5 out in 27 sec. Amazon scale 0,1 gr precision, cheap and really good Should have gone a bit finer since the bar was around 6,5-7 here… normally it is around 10. I could have tamped a bit harder also.. Steaming is very easy with this machine. Makes perfect micro foam 👌🏻 Served a cappuccino and a macchiato.

Trying out my new Lelit bottomless portafilter , Lelit leveler and new Amazon coffee scale this morning . Instead of normal milk I used the "Swedish Barista oat milk". I am using a vst 20gr ridgeless basket here. The taste was ok with the oat milk but together with this particular bean I like normal milk better. Please let me know if you have any questions. I want to show how easy and fast it is to froth the milk with the Mara X just by tilting the pitcher to the side and at the same time towards you slightly. I don’t have much experience and can still manage to do it. The bar is also ready fast after the shot is done at 1.5bar and I am still in "espresso mode"

    I know that this is hobby for some, relax etc., but 9 minutes to make 1 coffee means 30minutes for coffee for me and two friends... So many unnecessary things, double WDT, double dose instead all at once, cleanup of every last piece of coffee from the basket, then putting in a filter and then cleanup again. But it's a therapy for some so I understand why some people do it the long way. Hope you have a good day and excellent coffee ;) ☕

      @@TheOnlyTomAsh hahaha Yeah, some days I actually feel that it takes too long. Today a cappuccino took around 30 sec extraction time and with milk in total 45 sec. Add weighing the beans and preparing and cleaning around 2min. It can go faster of course. Also when recording video, it is a bit slow motion cause some just want to see it in a slower pace and also “therapy “ 😅 But hey. Next time I’ll remove all unnecessary stuff and just dive into the espresso. Last weekend my wife invited friends over for the first time and all wanted coffee drinks. That was a wake-up call” cause I’m not used to making back to back drinks. After that I have been changing a bit of mindset of how to prepare for next drink when doing back to back drinks/coffee (more like irl cafeterias) and it is a bit appealing to me to be able to learn that too. • @AzizIzgin
      @AzizIzgin Год назад

      Thanks maintenance has been ok. I haven’t bothered to use detergent as often as recommended. The results tell you if it needs more cleaning or not… also, I usually do back flushing after every time I am done with the machine with only water… it keeps it clean. I do detergent every month or every other month. As for water tank, I use water softener there… instead of descaling the machine. Grinder almost has 0 retention. Tried yesterday. 18 fr in and 17.9 out… but even there… it can be my scale that didn’t register the last 0,1 gr 😅. I haven’t even cleaned the grinder during over 2 years of ownership… I feel bad. Will do it soon. Although… the grinder is a bit “picky depending on the quantity of the beans” . I feel that it clumps a bit when they are oilier beans. That can be due to lack of maintenance of course.

    Hello Aziz Izgin, I'm glad if my previous message motivated you at least 1% to post this video. I have a couple of questions and one suggestion: 1. How do you assess the change in taste now with the decrease in pressure? 2. Do you fill the hopper or do you do single dosing? If you do single dosing, don't you have inconsistency between shots due to retention? I was thinking about getting the Niche Zero, but only because I'm afraid of inconsistency between shots when using single dosing on grinders not built for it. 3. Small suggestion: use a dosing ring, maybe it will make your morning better :)

    • @AzizIzgin
      @AzizIzgin Год назад

      Good questions. First off , I never do single shot. Mainly because I wouldn’t be satisfied with only one shot but also because of the shape of the single shot basket. If I’d have a ridge less basket I’d try it out. The Niche is extremely popular. You can’t go wrong with it although I think other manufacturers have caught up now so you have a few to choose from. I have next to 0 retention in mine BUT it tends clump if it don’t like the beans that much. Although I haven’t cleaned it since I bought it and I can only blame myself here. Same goes for the Mara x. I have cleaned it but not that often with detergent plus back flushing… I never let it stand though without use for a long period of time and am doing just hot water flushing. With the grinder… there is a video with the Same grinder where the guy cleaned the machine and also adjusts the alignment of the burr … that solved the puzzle apparently but I think I haven’t taken time to learn what suits best with this grinder. I get some inconsistency depending on how I prepare my puck and if I use wdt or not and if I use the extra shower protection or not. The extra puck screen really “camouflages my flaws since it distributes the water evenly over the coffee and gives a nice extraction even though I’ve been sloppy 😂. The adjustment of bar pressure is nice since you can then adjust the grind size to coarser which is easier for the grinder. Flavor wise I maybe can tell a bit more body to the coffee but not extremely big of a different. Although I’ll adjust the pressure soon again down to 8(it is 8,5 now). Hopefully you have gotten your answers. Haven’t checked for misspellings 😅.

    It is so relaxing to watch this professional atitude. However I would have one important note - Espresso is getting spoiled very fast and the quallity is dropping down dramatically even in 1-2 minutes of laying. It was made for fast drink (some of italians says 3 minutes top) as its name said us as well. In this case (3minutes) your espresso was "dead" and that is huge shame regarding very professinal preparing (time, volume, grinding..). So do not make it before you steaming your milk. Do it in opossite way. Steamed milk will not ruin if you just keep twisting a little durring extraction. Thanks for sharing!

      Thanks man for your kind words and I agree that I shouldn’t let the coffee be for such a long time. Having said that there are quite a few forums regarding if it really makes a difference. The positive thing when making the milk at the same time is of course also that the temperature is the same as when brewed and the overall workflow is actually nicer when being finished with milk and coffee almost at the same time. I actually do that as well now more often. The video making distracts me sometimes 😅 . At the moment I’m trying to figure out a better way distributing the coffee. Some beans are really hard to handle the grinder tend not to grind the coffee as fluffy as normal… beans that are more oily on the outside are harder than more dried beans. Sometimes I go crazy when trying different settings😅 But I have to give the grinder some love. I have yet not cleaned it in over 2 years since I bought it . Have a good day ✌🏻

    How do you descale it ? Yourself or by professional ?

    • @AzizIzgin
      @AzizIzgin 2 года назад

      Actually descaling is not recommended unless you really need to do it. The key is to soften the water all the time so you don’t need to descale it. I always use water softener from Lelit in the tank and do back flushes to keep it clean. If you want to descale it you don’t need a professional. I believe Lelit has a video regarding it or just google it for this machine.

    Some Tips and Tricks: Use a Dosing Funnel it would save you some Time You could grind all your 18g into the Portafilter without Stop to compress the Powder. And dont Twist/rotate when Tamping. On your video you sadly tamped uneven when you "corrected"

    I was thinking of buying that machine, but it seems like it takes over a minute (72 seconds) to froth the milk? How much milk was it? I haven't timed it, but I'm quite sure my old Gaggia Classic makes 260 ml milk in about 45 seconds.

    • @AzizIzgin
      @AzizIzgin 2 года назад

      It actually depends on when you trigger the heater to pump up the pressure for the steam . Either that or you set to to “Standard HX feature” so it is steam ready all the time. This particular moment I really don’t remember the amount of milk. I can definitely do it faster than my old gaggia if I want… I could do the coffee and steam at the same time if I want and be ready with the milk just a few seconds after the coffee is done. Bor du i Sverige ? Tänkte på namnet 😊

      I have the Mara X as well and personally it only takes maybe 30ish seconds I believe to steam milk for my lattes - that depends on how hot you want it though. I only take mine to just above 55° C so it doesn’t take as long

    Its interesting for me that it takes 9seconds before any coffee drips and yet you switch off at 26 seconds. For my machine if there were no drips for 9s I would be heading for 40s shot time before I got to a 2:1 ratio.

      Very true I was too inexperienced at the moment. But it depends on bean and the results also. There are different opinions on when to start counting. Many people start when the first drop touches the coffee

      The Mara X has a soft ramp up pump, which acts a bit like a preinfusion. That's why there were no drops for a while at the start.

      @@scider2 härligt att höra! Jag har kommit lite till en ond cirkel ibland med vissa kaffesorter och jag förstår inte om jag distribuerar kaffet för dåligt eller om det är något annat. Jag får toner i kaffet som inte bör vara där när det inte blir bra. När jag ställer in bönan jag har i orginalkorgen (18gr) får jag upp ett dryck över 10 bar… när jag sen ändrar till grövre kornighet blir det som att det nästan rinner rakt igenom även fast jag inte justerat mkt alls… Med 20gr vst korgen måste jag mala finare korn för att uppnå 1:2 ratio men då tenderar kvarnen att klumpa kaffet om ja går ”för fint”. Det jag vet att jag kan förbättra är att köpa en ”distributör med nålar” efter att jag malt ner kaffet i korgen och använder det för att förbättra fördelningen. Ibland tror jag det handlar mer om mängden/nivån av kaffet i förhållande till kanten av korgen och ”shower screen ” i e61an att göra. Dvs att om distansen är för stor så blir trycket inte som det ska . Känns också som att viss sump ibland hamnar i kaffet, antingen om jag eventuellt pressar för hårt eller om O-ringen börjar bli dålig efter 2 år och behöver bytas av att tätningen blivit dålig. Tankar? Vissa bönor behöver jag knappt tänka så mkt på, där mals dem perfekt fluffiga fr början. Tips?

      @scider2 2 года назад

      @@AzizIzgin Hallå! Är inte lätt att veta vad som gått fel. Tycker iaf du ska skaffa en distributör med nålar, har kört med det jättelänge och tycker dom funkar bra. Vad jag mer skulle göra om jag vore dig är att sätta ner trycket på maskinen, gissar att 10 bar kan ta fram smaker som inte är så önskvärda. Har min maskin på 8 bar nu efter att länge haft den på 9 bar, kan ännu inte riktigt avgöra skillnaden där men båda är definitivt bättre än 10 bar som den var på när jag fick hem den.

      I’m really sorry but I have no idea. I’ve had it for such a long time . It is enough for 2 cups of cappuccino. I’m planning to buy a smaller cause it is a bit of waste. Also it is sometimes good to have a spare to pour over to for mixing the steamed milk with. If I remember I can go home and measure the amount of water that is needed to fill it up.
