I think the way they handled Paul Walker's death is my favourite example of working an actor's death into a piece of media. It felt like a fitting send-off and not like they were weirdly working in a real-world death into the plot in an awkward, uncomfortable way. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Power Rangers: One & Always made me uncomfortable with how they did it. BP2 weirdly, *weirdly* made the circumstances around T'Challa's death close to Chadwick Boseman's, while Power Rangers fridged a dead woman's character from a children's show.
What I loved about the send-off for Paul is that during those scenes whenever they used archive footage either through alternative tales/bloopers or ripped a new scene from Fast Five, they did a lot of thought on matching those scenes with the light they were going to use on the day of shooting, like the plane talk with Brian & Dom. And to this day, I still tear up at his send-off, despite the fact that there’s a bit of “uncanny valley” in some of that ending.
@@racool911 That's fair, it's a super subjective thing. But I just felt it was weird to have T'Challa die from an "unnamed illness" that could've been cured if Shuri was able to synthesise the Heart-Shaped Herb. With how closely they associate T'Challa's death with Chadwick Boseman's, it just felt off to be like "oh, but if Shuri had done this it could've been avoided". It's tying in a very tragic, real life death with a magical superhero solution. All so they can put Shuri on a path of grieving so she can eventually replace T'Challa within the franchise, complete with quoting his dialogue verbatim. I can appreciate Wakanda Forever for helping the cast and crew process Boseman's death, but it was just uncomfortable for me to watch, and not in a good way like Blue is the Warmest Colour or something. When Shuri quoted his dialogue from Civil War, it was meant to be touching; but I felt it was gross.

The FAST franchise should have stopped here; the ending to this movie is beautiful. But when a movie makes so much damn money, they'll always make another. #ShowBusinesNotShowArt #FastAndTheProfitable
Yeah I'm beginning to feel the same. I did like 9 more than the almost irredeemably cold and boring 8 (exception being baby/Shaw scene and mmmaybe the race at the start), but there's so much spy movie dead weight expected of these movies now and that aspect is SO WEAK even in 6 and 7. Them explicitly being on "missions" is such a weird parenthetical-yet-somehow-central aspect now.
@Thread Bomb , obviously, which is why they keep making them. Furious 7 just happened to be the most successful, nearly doubling the box office of Fast 6. Are you trying to be dense?
I can't believe you're doing The Transformers: The Movie! YES! I can't wait to hear you talk about next weeks movie. I watched it so many times as a kid, over and over. There's a lot to say about it, as it is pretty nuts in hindsight (and through adult eyes)
Last year I tore my bicep in the gym, after a quick surgery and painful recovery in a plastic harness for a few months, posting The Rock saying "Daddy's Got To Go To Work" before flexing off his cast, on the day I got out of my brace, was incredibly cathartic.
This was about the time the series started to loose me. It was still ridiculously fun, but the cracks were starting to show and just got worse in the later ones, which seemed to get a bit less fun each time. A fitting send off for Paul though, to go out on the biggest one in the franchise to that point.
I knew that this was a movie when Paul Walker fought Tony Jaa and didn't immediately get turned into mince meat. That really solidified that this was a movie to me.

I hated how none of the avengers showed up to the funeral
How did they explain the Power Rangers one?
The day Rodney don’t show up is the day I’m out the door, ya hear me
ben/laurence great job on the edits in this
11:53. Man that Black woman is gorgeous. To make her brilliant hacker is one thing but still react to these crazy and ridiculous situations with real human emotions is a plus.
Perfect video for my birthday 🙏🏻
Happy Birthday
I respect how you killed me in that helicopter crash I’m on the team
I know this is still a ridiculous, over the top action flick. But damnit if I didn't shed manly tears watching that final tribute to Paul Walker.
Would you have trusted him with your 16 year old daughter as a 30 year old man though?
@@ChildishGambeaner Who? Paul walker?
Yeah he seemed like a nice guy
@@hails2991 he was having sex with multiple 16 year old girls
@@hails2991 Who dated underage teenage girls when he was in his 30s
@@sabrina63 So what are you trying to do?
"Hey everyone, this guy who's dead that you liked did something bad in the past"
Great job there trying to cancel a dead guy. Bud he's already dead
When this movie came out I saw people posting tributes to paul walker on facebook and I legitimately didn’t know paul walker was a real person. I thought people were making these emotional tributes for a fictional character.
I hate to break it to you, but all the previous movies were made for money too.
@Simon , I will admit that (for the most part) they're entertaining. #DumbFun
@Thread Bomb , obviously, which is why they keep making them. Furious 7 just happened to be the most successful, nearly doubling the box office of Fast 6. Are you trying to be dense?
@@EriqOrtiz Unfortunate spelling mistake there whilst trying to call other people dense, buddy 😂
I can't believe you're doing The Transformers: The Movie! I was actually going to suggest it since it's one of my 3 favourite movies from childhood and I still love it but I understand when others don't. Plus Rise of the Beasts is coming out so the timing works. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this very divisive movie. And just it being in Caravan of Garbage will be awesome!
Oh the music the feeels😮can’t wait for next week ❤
YES! I can't wait to hear you talk about next weeks movie. I watched it so many times as a kid, over and over. There's a lot to say about it, as it is pretty nuts in hindsight (and through adult eyes)
21:28 Overcooked 2 Soundtrack - Map. Took me way to long to figure out where I’ve heard that music.
Last year I tore my bicep in the gym, after a quick surgery and painful recovery in a plastic harness for a few months, posting The Rock saying "Daddy's Got To Go To Work" before flexing off his cast, on the day I got out of my brace, was incredibly cathartic.
I love how Vin Diesel's invincibility means that the F&F movies are in the same universe as Jackie Chan's The Medallion
24:38 If Cade Yeager isn't in it I'm gonna riot
This was about the time the series started to loose me. It was still ridiculously fun, but the cracks were starting to show and just got worse in the later ones, which seemed to get a bit less fun each time. A fitting send off for Paul though, to go out on the biggest one in the franchise to that point.
7:09 Leg lengthening mention 😂
11:52 AWOOGA!
19:36 Street always wins!
7 is really good. They did a great job at making it feel like Paul was there for all of it
I'm so glad this video took a detour into clowning on Entourage. The Weekly Planet review of the Entourage Movie is still one of their funniest.
oh hell yeah Ive been waiting for you to do that transformers movie since the Michael Bay films
I remember this was the first Fast and Furious movie I ever watched. Remember going to see it in theaters when I was in 5th grade and loving it.
Transformers the movie 1986 aka THE GOOD ONE...YES
P.S. hey Eddie, hope you're recovering well from surgery
I knew that this was a movie when Paul Walker fought Tony Jaa and didn't immediately get turned into mince meat. That really solidified that this was a movie to me.
If you guys do Indiana jones for dial of destiny
Please do all 4😂
10:44 nerd fact: there is/was research being done into scaled type ceramic body armor like that seen here. The idea being it's lighter than a steel/ceramic plate while offering more protection than kevlar.
These movies seem to keep getting OK; I may have to watch them now. Damn you, boys!
The thing about a street fight is...Blanka always wins! 🤣 Yo Ben who's the scream insert at the end of Rodney? Assumed FF cast. And Yes Blanka is the funniest named Street Fighter Character, killer off top riff, hindsight time machine you could have said M. Bison, and thrown in a amazing Raul Julia closeup 🤣
I appreciate the ingenious use of Green Trivia to reference the appearance of the Hulk TV show
Honestly a better song to send Brian off with would have been the original score from the first movie. That opening is great wrenching for me now.
Also, while I'm sure he still couldn't lift it, it's important to know that the engine on that car is in the back so if it were possible, that's how he'd have to do it.
