  • What’s happening in this Breaking Bad clip?
An enraged Hank (Dean Norris) punches Walt (Bryan Cranston from Godzilla) and accuses him of being Heisenberg, which Walt neither confirms nor denies. Walt tells Hank that he would have difficulty proving he is Heisenberg, and even if he did his cancer will probably kill him before he can be jailed. Hank demands Walt leave his children in Hank's care before he will consider Walt's argument, but is refused. Hank utters that he does not know him anymore, to which Walt replies, that he should be careful.

What’s the TV show Breaking Bad about?
Walter White (Bryan Cranston from Godzilla and Total Recall), a chemistry teacher, is diagnosed with lung cancer. He decides to make and sell methamphetamine to repay his medical debts and secure his family’s future.
    Season 5 of Breaking Bad:
With Gustavo (Giancarlo Esposito) dead, Walter (Bryan Cranston from Godzilla and Total Recall) and Jesse (Aaron Paul) decide to start their own drug empire. They team up with Mike (Jonathan Banks), Gus' former henchman. They also team up with Lydia (Laura Fraiser) and Todd (Jesse Plemons).
Hank (Dean Norris), now head of the DEA, gets involved in the Gus Fring case and tightens his grip on Mike, who will be forced to leave the operation. Jesse quickly does the same. Walter helps Mike to organize his escape but mortally wounds him in a fit of rage. Later, he makes Todd his new assistant.
Thereafter, Walter knows an uninterrupted success and accumulates enormous amounts of money. One day, Skyler (Anna Gunn) shows him the impressive pile of money, explaining that she can no longer launder it and begging him to stop. Soon after, Walter decides to leave the business for good.
Everything seems to be back to normal when Hank discovers that Walter is Heisenberg. Heisenberg buries his money in the desert and convinces Jesse to leave town, but Jesse agrees to surrender to Hank and his partner Steve (Steven Michael Quezada). Hank, Steve and Jesse manage to capture Walter in the desert. Walter, thinking that Jesse would be alone, hired Todd's uncle Jack (Michael Bowen) and his men to come and execute him, but tries to back out when he sees Hank with him, however Jack ignores this and a shootout ensues. Jesse is captured, Steve is shot, Hank is wounded, then coldly killed by Jack despite Walter's pleas. The mobsters find the hidden money and seize the quasi-totality, Todd insisting to leave him a small part of it. Walter then decides to flee with his family, but Skyler and Walter Jr. (RJ Mitte), terrorized, refuse to follow him.
Walter leaves to live in reclusion in New Hampshire, but his cancer relapses. Jesse is reduced to a slave by Todd, and after an escape attempt, Todd coldly shoots Andrea, Jesse's girlfriend. Later, Walter takes the risk to contact his son in order to give him money, but this one refuses and declares that he would prefer him dead. Desperate, Walter is about to turn himself in before he stumbles upon a television interview with his former partners, who downplay his contribution to the creation of their company. Overcome with resentment, he decides to act. He entrusts, under threat, the 10 million dollars which remain to him to his former associates, by making them promise that they will give them to Walter Jr. at his majority. He then says goodbye to Skyler and confesses to her that he did all that to feel alive and not for his family as he had always affirmed it. He manages to free Jesse and to kill Jack, Todd and their men, but is mortally wounded. He dies in a meth lab on his 52nd birthday, two years to the day after the events of the first episode.

@@steverogers6572 His kills are understandable though.
      1. He needed to kill the 2 guys who worked for Gus to save Jessie because he cared about him.
      2. He needed to make sure Gale dies so he won't die himself (kill or be killed).
      3. He needed to kill Gus to secure his family's safety.
      4. He sent Jack to kill 10 of Gus's past workers who might've spilled the beans about him, to not being sent to jail himself and thus also hurt his own family's reputation (if it was just about him than he would've agreed to go to jail).
      5. He sent Jack to kill Jessie to save his family. Sure, it also caused Hank and Steve to die, but that was on Jack alone, not on Walt. Walt insisted on keeping him alive and was even willing to give up all of his money, but Hank knew they'll kill him either way. So Hank's death was not Walt's fault.
There are only 2 unjustified actions of his:
      1. Killing Mike, because it was out of rage and accidental. I agree that was horrible.
      2. Poisoning Brock just to have Jessie on his side. Hurting an 8 year old is bullsh*t, but even than he put a small amount of poison to temporarily faint him, but not kill him because he isn't Chara from Undertale.
I guess that the non-stop discussion about whether Walt is good or bad being stretched for as long as it is without clear answer, just proves to show how great the show's writing is. Nothing is black or white (get it... cuz Walter WHITE). People can have different perspectives on the characters without being wrong. Vince Gilligan said that from season 4, he wanted to write Walt to be less sympathetic, but he was shocked to see people still siding with him after the show ended. It goes to show that he wrote Walt so well that even he doesn't understand how great it really was.

This is probably the most uncomfortable I've felt watching a show. This whole time Walter was off in this fantasy gangster world, outwitting drug lords and criminals, manipulating both the good and bad; even his own wife gets caught up in the madness. Hank represents the reality and brevity of the situation. The lies, the deception, the murder, all of the lives ruined, the danger that Walter's life put everyone else in, all of it comes to a head here. It's the first time in the entire show that I feel like any of the characters are confronted with shame because Hank isn't sitting in some grey area. He represents a clear line in the sand of what is right and what is wrong, and no one wants to have to face that; not even Walter.

I think Hank's death affected me the worst, he was just the right man in the wrong place, a true hero who died unsung.

It was also totally unnecessary had he not tried to be a lone hero, informed the DEA, and came with backup.

I rooted for Hank the whole show. He was a competent man in a department of idiots. It was satisfying for him to finally find out Heisenberg's identity.
Unfortunately he didn't stay competent in the end. He KNEW Walt was responsible for the killing of 10 people all in different places in the span of two minutes. But instead of bringing a whole platoon to take this guy down, he went with only his partner and an addict to arrest him.
A mistake he paid for with his life.

@@Gemmarose9012 it wasn't that simple. He was literally looking for evidence to bring to the DEA, otherwise he'd be in hot water again

@@kent_s honestly I probably can understand why Hank did that. Just like you said, their department is full of idiots. Their first assumption would be Hank helping Heisenberg to build his empire, in return Hank get in the top of DEA. It's a suicide mission either way and plus Heisenberg get enough time to flee.
Secondly, he work with Jesse outside of DEA, without any permit. And Hank know very well only Jesse can bring down Heisenberg. Since both Hank and Jesse agree they're victim of Heisenberg, it's very likely they're going to help each other instead of handing Jesse to DEA. Unprofessional, but reasonable.

I feel like when Walt spitefully told Hank he will do everything in his power to escape prison, justice and his comeuppance by dying on his own terms and having the cancer get him first before Hank does is what triggered Hank’s obsession to capture him before that happens Walt created Hank’s death warrant and Hank signed it

Love the cinematography. It’s the little things. Like how Walt’s face is lit in the final moments of the scene. One half of his face is in the light with an innocent expression, the other half is in the dark with a menacing look and a wound, implying danger. Alluding to Hank seeing Walt’s true two-faced nature for the first time up close and personal. Goes perfectly with the dialogue. No doubt this was planned.

Honestly, people talk about the "I am the danger" speech as the coldest lines in television, but the way Walt turned the conversation on Hank here at the end may top that for me. Just by a bit though.

Imagine if this show was shot from Hanks point of view with Walter as a side character. We see Hank go through his life as a DEA agent and trying to solve who is behind the blue meth, and all we see of Walter is this mild mannered dude who is like Hanks kid brother. Then all of a sudden you find out it was Walt all along and he is the most dangerous person in the show.
