the entire 'crawl space' sequence is in a league of its own.. the anticipation of how it begins, the exasperation of not finding the money, and the desperation from finding out where it went - all brilliantly underlined by tense music, Walt's hysterical laugh, and the phone ringing. I would love to know how Bryan Cranston got into the head space to act out that scene in particular. It's so tense. We're watching a man snap and have a mental breakdown right in front of us. That laughter is haunting. And hearing him laugh while the phone is ringing, Marie is crying, and watching Skylar slowly walk to the kitchen to answer the phone just creates so much thickness in the air of that scene. I feel like not enough people are talking about how effective the tortoise bomb scene is. It's pretty replayed and recognized, but I think it should be more recognized, just because it does a great job of being really effective. It's so explicitly freaky, and I'm so impressed by how well it gets the viewer to understand Hank's trauma. Weirdly enough, it's probably the most relatable scene in the show for me because of how well it gives the nauseating feeling you get when you see something so strange and scary. You can't stop thinking about it, and you want to forget about it. Lots of people have experienced things like that, and I'm glad to see something that portrays that concept so well.
