  • Bossier, LA- @Copwatchtv obtained lapel footage of an incident involving an off duty Bossier City police officer being questioned by his supervisors. Off duty officer Travis Coker.
It started when a citizen called into 911 saying a Bossier City Police unit was driving erratically and hit a mailbox. Bossier City Police supervisors identified the unit and went to the area.
They contacted Coker in a grocery store parking lot. 3 supervisors were on scene. Coker denied any wrong doing and would not go directly to a drug test.
According to an Internal Affairs investigation, supervisors stated that Coker appeared under the influence of medication or substance.
Since Coker was off duty and outside Bossier City police jurisdiction, the investigation was only administrative in nature and not criminal. And because Coker was operating a city vehicle, supervisors ordered him to take a reasonable suspicion drug test pursuant to BCPD policy.
Coker was put on leave and an internal investigation found cause to fire him. Coker is expected to appeal his firing before the Civil Service Board in Louisiana.

I believe he was outside of those officer's jurisdiction. They were his work supervisors and had administrative power over him, especially with the city's vehicle, but they would have had to call in the local PD for the arrest. They had an eyewitness account by phone but it seems no on hand evidence to warrant tying up the local department's time and the failed drug test he would have had, or in this case his refusal to take it, was their only avenue for punishment.

You seem to support cops engaging in bad behavior and acting above the law, that is a scary thing. Laws are there to protect us and blindly pushing for cops to circumvent our rights is a dangerous view to have. • @stratkiller2531

@Vile T could be that too. but idk why they would search his car if all they're asking him to do is go in for a drug test. I mean even if he convinced them to give him 30 min if searching his car was part of the protocol I'm sure they would search it before he took off to do whatever he's gonna do. so I don't think that's the case.

They all had an easy out, which would be to drug test him real quickly. They were going to just let it go if he passed a drug test because as he said, it would be his word against hers.. They couldn't possibly let it go altogether since he was in a city vehicle. This is what pissed them off so bad but they couldn't come out and say it. They knew he did it but he was refusing his easy out because he knew he would fail the test. They also even hinted he would have had a better chance just taking the test.. could have been fighting it later with re-tests and still walked away 'clean'. They don't "protect & serve." The Supreme Court ruled that they are under no obligation to protect you. So, what does that leave us?? Stop, detain, write tickets, make arrests, etc. There is no incentive for them to uphold the law & your constitutional rights. There are; however, many incentives to do all the things I listed above. Do you think that police officers get promoted for all the people that they stopped and let go because they were innocent? No, they move up the ladder on how much revenue they generate and arrests made whether the person is innocent or not. Don't believe me, just do the research on your own. Better yet, ask the lady that was arrested for meth that turned out to be blue cotton candy. Should have been easy and quick to clear that up right away you would think. Nope.....she sat in jail for 30 plus days. There goes your job, possibly your house, not to mention the impact on your family/kids. Why you ask? Because innocent people don't make the judicial system any money. Plus, they can't admit that they made a mistake. Are there good police officers? Yes, but they're either ostracized because they have integrity(i.e. you don't get promoted, raises,, etc) or they're drug over to the dark side. Or they just give up and quit. That all leads us to what we have today. It's broken!
