    The girl is ranked 737, hardly a pro.
    The Williams sisters once claimed they could beat any male player outside the top 200. They then played against Karsten Braasch (ranked 203), a guy at the end of his underachieving career. He beat them 6-1 (Serena) and 6-2 (Venus). Admittedly, they were at the beginning of their careers but these results are still quite a statement. They then announced they would surely beat a guy outside the top 300 to which Braasch respodended they should just wait a couple of months for a re-match - until then he'll have lost enough points.

      Yes, he looks more like one of those 3.5 guys who can have success in singles because they can keep the ball in play. I know he had shoulder issues, so I'll forgive the serve and the service motion, but his backhand generally lacked any form. He was just blocking it far too much for a competitive 4.0 player in the leagues I play in. Maybe his league isn't as competitive.

    I'm inclined to believe this guys rating definitely 4.0 and I'm not surprised he has a good win record, more than anything he's pretty consistent, has a simple but effective pusher game plan, throws a lot of junk and the occasional heater ( which is really annoying to play against since you end up second guessing a lot ). The pro is definitely better stroke wise but was more hot headed and committed errors she didn't need to. I guess she tried hitting thru him but he had pretty good retrieving skills

    I'm not going to mention the serve due to his injury, but there seems to be two areas in particular that he needs to improve on. 1. Footwork. 2 Racket preparation. That second one seems to be a major issue in my opinion. He is hitting most balls late because he's not really preparing at all, and as a result there is very little backswing. It's resulting in a late contact and a weak ground stroke.

    I know this guy personally. He could probably beat the majority of you. By the way, he is now 4.5. Everyone judges his game until they play them.. then they get worked and they don't know what happened. I happen to be able to deal with it, but that's because I never underestimate it. I also have a good slice, overhead on both wings and a competent serve volley net game. That's how you have to beat him, because it's rarely going to happen at the baseline. He is a perfect example of Winning Ugly, the book by Brad Gilbert. You all judge, and I know the comments will continue to consistently talk negative, but I'd love to see you play him.

    Nick did well!
    He made a few more unforced errors as the match wined towards the 8th set but in the beginning he did very well. The difference is that the pro had gotten more consist in her strokes and made less errors as the match progress but Nick returned her serve well and was in the point and rally it out for 3 or 4 strokes. To be honest; the pro had a very weak serve even for the lady's game. Nice comparison.

  • @bipolarminddroppings
    @bipolarminddroppings 4 года назад +21

    Its both impressive that he was beating a pro at the start but also a good demonstration of the immense physical advantages we men have. You could see the difference in skill and endurance though as the match went on, she was clearly the better player.
    I would wager if this was on a pro court, with an audience, she would beat him with relative ease because he wouldnt be used to the circumstances and the pressure and would buckle, make more mistakes etc and thats where you seperate the pros from the amateurs, when the pressure is on and everyone is watching you.

What matters more is that he could play her a hundred times, and he'd lose a hundred times--and the losses would get worse and not better.

    • @JCCarter1150
      @JCCarter1150 10 лет назад +5

      Of course you have to switch up your game; that's a fundamental part of tennis.
      Tennis is about your own game, of course, but it's also about adapting to your opponent. You have to anticipate where they are going to hit the ball, the depth of the shot, the width, the spin etc. When you're playing against really good players on the same level as yourself (like this girl in the video) you play in a similar style, so you become accustom to that way of playing. However when you play an amateurish player, you have to completely alter your style, your stance, positions on the course etc. This is all a key part to playing tennis - knowing your opponent.
      When I play against people of a similar standard to myself, or at least similar playing styles, then it comes second nature and I adapt and grow into the game much easier. However, if you put me against a completely different player (maybe of less experience) then I will struggle more so to adapt. Of course my better experience will probably overcome that player, but it's not as easy as it looks especially when you're used to playing a certain mould of players.

      absolt very poor power position ( waiter position ), pushing the ball instead of swinging through it and bad weight transfer not to mention his weight transfer after the shot is to the left meaning he is getting less power through the ball as of the lost power to the side. In addition the bad footwork as u mentioned

      Andro Santos still not an excuse for bad footwork, bad follow through, bad weight transfer and a bad power position. A injured shoulder should not affect the power position as there is little to no power going into the actual power position.

    This is hard to watch when She’s got perfect technique but no tactic. And he’s got poor technique and better tactic than her. All she had to do was be more aggressive and come to the net ASAP and go for the kill.

      That's totally spot on but I think her lack of a coordinated tactic comes from her having little confidence in her attacking shots which either end up in the net or long .... She's clearly playing with a very stiff but light racquet which requires far more racquet head speed to keep the ball in and her lack of confidence ends up in more tepid flat shots.

      His "serve" was a joke. 4.0 must mean nothing in ATP now.

      Once she stopped making so many mistakes and he got a bit tired. He was very good at chasing after her hits and she missed some pretty easy shots in the first few games. Then she got more consistent and he less so...

    She is much more skilled and aggressive and knows how to attack the short ball. He is just trying to get everything back the best he can. I actually did this same experiment. I was a 4.5 player, and got on a tennis site and refused to play any girl under 6.0 and ended up playing someone who made it to the college division 1 Finals and almost won it all. She was really good, and was actually up on me very early in the match, but I came back to win in the end. It was actually a lot of fun! So thankful for women in the world otherwise life would get pretty boring!
