@@joebloggs8292he was but injuries started hitting him and he fell off slowly by slowly. I mean at 19 he played prime barcelona in the champions league and he was literally the best player on the pitch, not messi, not xavi, not Iniesta not Villa. When the match ended even Xavi and Iniesta both gave him their shirts cuz he was pivotal to that 2-1 Arsenal win. Injuries are what killed his career. After watching berba and Jack playing against some average joes, I could clearly see that the main difference it's not the technique, but the space awareness that pros have. He didn't do anything fancy, yet he was destroying everyone, but why? He utilizes the opponent inertia and movement against themselves. He always cuts to from where the defender is coming, he is always looking around to see what is happening. So many young players dedicate themselves so much on dribbling and shooting that they forget that football is a simple game, and sometimes you need to master the basics and use skills only when its actually needed.

Always loved Wilshere, and I would love a shirt almost as much ;) The Back Home documentary was so interesting, and it was great seeing him back at the club.

Jack Wilshere is one of those players who has sheer talent but couldn't achieve realistically what he should have due to injuries etc

Saw him play aged 16 for the first time against Sheffield Utd in the league cup over the emirates and you could see from then he could've been one of the best midfielders ever so sad how injuries destroyed him

I’d played against the captain of Liverpool U21s at the time but you could not get near him.
It’s not fancy footwork or anything but how to deploy the ball and destroy you. I’d say I could not get within two yards of him

Wilshere was amazing and I'm a United fan. Cesc became amazing but I think Jack would have been better had it not been for his injuries. Massive loss to England on a Gazza like scale.

I’ll never forget the game against Barca at the emirates. Best player on the pitch by some way… and Xavi, Iniesta & Messi we’re on that pitch. Deserved better injury luck. Legend.

Yeah man hard to believe he absolutely schooled that Barca team which was probably the best team ever seen in the game.
