    I struggled with low pH for over a year and trade the method you’re referring to and ended up with calcium over 600. It had a negative affect on the tank and through other things out of balance as well. It’s so easy to use fresh air and there’s a lot of videos on it how to do it. Feel free to respond I would even be more than willing to have a quick chat or phone call to explain how it’s worked in my situation - really wanna see you successful! Really appreciate your channel take care

    • @InappropriateReefer

      Thank you, Chris! My biggest blocker for bringing in outside air is drilling through the wall.. I think I have all the necessary equipment (power drill, mason bits), just need to know what happens after I drill the hole... and how large a hole should I go for?

    • @chrish6659
      @chrish6659 4 года назад

      @@InappropriateReefer Great question, since you can’t undo mason holes! A 1.25” saw made with a 1” hole saw will work. After you make it, caulk around the pipe to to seal out the bugs etc.
      This would be a great project to ask your buddy Telegram for help with. Don’t forget, it’s easy to know for sure that CO2 buildup is your issue without making a single hole. Just crack the sliding glass door or window open near the tank for a few hours. You’ll see the PH shoot up if I’m right. It’s almost always the fix!
      If you’d like some pics of mine, happy to provide. Just tell me where to send them

    Hi again, gr8 content as per, tanks both looking amazing , I used to use kalk in my ato, good way of saving the use of equipment , I used the brineshrimp hatchery u do aswell , but I had 2 and alternated the days of fresh eggs , that way each day would have a harvest , can get away with less frozen , and have better quality food for fish and corals , but with anthias that may be difficult, I feel a Midas blenny or 2 or 3 would be gr8 in the 135g , jus an amazing fish to watch

  • @HBReefBros

    Pro tip! If you use freshly mixed saltwater vs tank water you will get an even higher hatching rate for the baby brine shrimp. I've done it both ways and I get way more hatching with the fresh saltwater!

    Goinopora Appreciate low to medium flow, but preferably with some randomness to it, that way you will get a gentle waving motion which helps keep The coral clean and bring food to the colony. Also they prefer medium light somewhere between 30and 150 Par. Highlight would be anything over 150.

      I am lucky, among the mix of food that I feed, I see the Anthias pick at "something." Not exactly sure what they are picking at but they are eating... I do still feed frozen mysis until they get bold enough to really compete with the rest of the fish!

    Read alot about hatching brine shrimp and tried many different parameters.
    Everyone always talks about salinity and heat, even light being the important factors but in my experience, it is the pH that matters most.
    You don't need to be exact but tap water that is around 7 ph will result in average yield no matter how good temps and light and salt is. Put a touch of bicarb soda and get the pH over 8 and you'll get heaps more.

    • @InappropriateReefer

    Your Goniopora will need low to medium light and water flow, with a surge (Higher) flow two or three times a day for 15 minutes. Direct target feeding of a very, very fine powder coral food once or twice a week, while also keeping a higher nutrition water quality.

    To raise your pH, connect a 1 inch PVC line to the outside of your house and connect it to the intake of your protein skimmer. Your tank is very close to the outside wall so this is not a very hard thing to do. I have a 55 foot run and use one and a half inch pipe and then connected it to the intake of the air on my protein skimmer and my pH went from 7.7 and now averages 8.1 to 8.3 depending on the light cycle. I cannot begin to stress how easy this is and how much of a difference it will make. If you wanna verify this before doing all the work involved, simply open the sliding glass door for a couple of hours in the room that your tank is in and watch the pH go up. If this works my solution works perfectly.

    My silver belly wrasse does the same thing when he's stressed (chase his reflection and stay at the waterline). I bet your wrasse is being bullied by the anthias and you have not noticed it yet. Make sure the anthias are well fed and it may help, but try to keep an eye on the tank or setup a webcam so you can see who is bullying him. I feel terrible when this happens, but halichoerids are generally very peaceful fish and usually the first to get bullied. I would check his fins and make sure they are not nipped.
