I've definitely taken inspiration from you in my own videos and in my tank. Thanks for continuing to make content, and put in all the extra effort for us!!

    Your corals will look diff in that tank setup (prob in a good way) regardless of your reef lighting because off the extra light and full spectrum your plant light is giving it. I love that setup btw.

    Amazing that that easy to grow sps kicked the bucket but the maximum clams look pretty good. Most of that coral is pretty bulletproof with stable alk

    • @InappropriateReefer
      @InappropriateReefer  3 месяца назад +1

      It’s ultimately a mystery, but my guess is the nutrients swing took out the more sensitive SPS, which in turns took out the larger colonies and fed the downward spiral. Some experienced reefers told me that dying Acros send out certain signal that may bring down other Acros… this, and/or bad bacteria, may explain why only the SPS kicked the buckets while the other stuff were largely OK (except for suffering through the nutrients swing, of course. Though I bet the clams enjoyed the high nutrients moments 😅)

    New tank layout is much more satisfying visually. Nice tidying up.
    That original scape had a great layout. Keeping the bottom and left side clear really delivers on it, and presents a wonderful 'weight' visually speaking. And the torch garden in the back along with the goni's front and center really added with movement, contrasting the SPS.

    Tank looks great!! Also have you considered shipping a small piece of finger leather? I’ve been watching your videos for the longest now and even rewatched all of your OG vids and I would love a small frag of your finger leather if possible! I lost all of my livestock recently due to hurricane beryl but my tank is back up and slowly adding corals back in the tank. If it’s possible that would be amazing!!

    • @InappropriateReefer
      @InappropriateReefer  3 месяца назад +1

      Hey man, thank you for watching all these years and I am really sorry to hear about the hurricane issue. I actually removed most of the leather in the rescape, and didn’t want to make the same mistake of leaving a big cut chunk somewhere that could potentially release some bad stuff. Once it regrows to a decent size, I’d happy to look into fragging & shipping it. There was too much going on so I didn’t want to mess with shipping etc, but things are getting better 😆

    Hey, heading mixed reviews from everywhere, but just wondering if one of them azure damsel fish would be able to be kept in a 25gal community tank? Thanks

    • @InappropriateReefer
      @InappropriateReefer  3 месяца назад +1

      At the moment I would say yes. The ones in the 135 have been timid but held their own (as long as they have a place to dart back to). I also kept them together in the 17g with no issue (but then again, it was all Azure in that system at the time). Another comment under this video did mention an Azure bullying other damsels though, so YMMV

    • @InappropriateReefer
      @InappropriateReefer  3 месяца назад +1

      In the mangrove system I never feed the corals specifically, just pellets and flakes for the fish; in the 135g I broadcast feed Benepets once a day, and the auto feeder feed the fish a mix of freeze dried mysis twice a day! I think fish poops is ultimately what most of my corals eat

    I put an Aptasia eating filefish in my tank a while back to munch on my Aptasia. This he has done. Now I find my Acans, and trachys area closed up. My water parameters are nominal, so its not that could it be my filefish. I have not seen him muching on my corals. If I remember correctly you had a file fish eating corals. Did you catch him red handed, and how on earth did you get him out of the tank?

    • @InappropriateReefer
      @InappropriateReefer  3 месяца назад +1

      I have had 3 Aiptasia Eating Filefish; all 3 times they ate the Aiptasias and 2 times they started nipping at corals. I caught two in the act and the 3rd was more preventative. They are very easy to catch at night, wake up at night and see if you could see it sleeping somewhere reachable. You could simply net / hand catch in the dark, or turn on the lights on full and you’d get maybe 20 seconds. Also check your gorgonian or soft corals, sometimes they bite onto a tip and just drift in the current to sleep, very cool.

    you should learn from Jake Adam from Reefbuilder for setting up a tank, he has many beautifull tank with simple things. i think your problem is using too much "things" for your tank. your sand, your macro algea is a big problem for your tank.

    • @InappropriateReefer
      @InappropriateReefer  3 месяца назад

      I’m with you on following Jake Adams’ ways! Although I’m not sure I’d ever do a tank without sand, I like the aesthetic too much 😆 If I were to do it again though, I may skip the macro algae, or do a scrubber instead. I hear sometimes macros don’t play well with corals?
