In case you didnt know, the creator of Jojo is a music enthusiast. Almost all his character is a nod to music culture and straight up named them as a real life band.

One of my favorite parts of seeing anyone react to Jojo's openings all in a row without context is when the "same song" starts playing again. The look of confusion is entertaining and then the realization on their face when they see the MAJOR difference is golden. ....you could call it a golden experience.
OPENING BAND/SINGERS: OP 1: Hiroaki Tominaga (aka "Tommy") TOMMY is a Japanese singer and the vocalist of the Japanese rock band BLUFF. But I believe this was made without his band. OP2: CODA Coda is a Japanese singer-songwriter, composer, and sound producer also not performing in a specific band for the opening. OP 3: JIN is a Japanese singer and vocal trainer. OP 4: This opening combines all the first three singers so Tommy, Coda and Jin into making this creative opening! this trio got named THE JO☆STARS. OP 5: THE DU is a Japanese band created for performing "Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town". OP 6: Batta is a Japanese 4-person Rock band who performed "chase". OP 7: Daisuke Hasegawa is a Japanese performer, usually playing electric guitar or choral singing. He performed "Great Days", the 3rd opening for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable, alongside Karen Aoki. OP 8: Coda is back at it again with "Fighting Gold"🔥. OP 9: Daisuke Hasegawa, back at it as well now performing "Uragirimono no Requiem". OP 10: ichigo is a Japanese singer and the lead vocalist of Kishida Kyōdan & The Akeboshi Rockets. She performed "STONE OCEAN" Also yes the variety from the openings really embodies how much variety there is in this crazy bizarre and unique show that is called JOJOS! so good!
One thing that's really interesting about the way these songs are composed is that a lot of them take influence from when the actual story was written/takes place. For instance, the second opening has a lot of really strong trumpet and jazzy/swing-y sections, probably because the story starts in 30s New York. Stand Proud and Sono Chino Kioku take place in the 80s and the author is a big fan of American rock and metal, so both of those openings are metal dominated by intense guitar work and bass. Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town has 2 versions: a funky, almost disco groove, and one that you described as having a boy band vibe. That's pretty accurate, because it was written in the early 90s and takes place in 90s Japan. That's a time period where music was transitioning from a very flashy, heavily disco-inspired era brought on by an economic boom and shifting into a more 'modern' (for the 90s lol) sound of boy bands and J-pop stars. Fighting Gold and Uragirimonono take place in 2000s Italy, and although that's modern, there's a lot of classical Italian scenery at every turn, so both of those songs end up featuring a lot of classical instruments and sound. Stone Ocean takes place in 2011 and it takes a lot of inspiration from Japanese alt rock that was really typical around that time. A side note, though I know I'm pretty late to the punch and people have already listed the performers for each song, but I want to add a tidbit that I'm not sure anyone else brought up: there was a special version of the Great Days opening performed by *every* vocalist that's done a JoJo opening, under the group name JO☆UNITED. It's gotta top the original for me. It opens with the first verse being sung by the guy who did opening one, second verse by vocalist for opening 2, etc, with the entire group coming together on chorus and closing. It's a great piece of music. It was also the full 4 minute piece of music rather than the 2 separate and shortened anime versions (which are different segments of that original song), and it makes it feel so compositionally complete compared to listening to the 2 abridged versions separately.
Right! all this time what i was just able to say "i love this but i cant explain with words (technicality/musicality) why it is so good". Another interesting thing is he pointing out sounds in the tracks that i never realised those were in there all this time
Other than the music itself, the thing I love about Jojo's openings is that they somehow tell you everything with huge spoilers but also nothing, because you need the context to understand what you see
you only get spoiled after you watch it because in the stone ocean opening piano part, there is dio's stop sign. why is there a stop sign in the middle of no where?
@@iantaakalla8180 in the first oppening of part 5 there is a scene where 3 of them are on the left side and 3 on the right looking at each other, the left are the ones who survive the right are the ones who die. Interedting thing is because of the previous parts and the many spoiler's i tried to figure stuff out on my own and i thought maybe 1 side dies other lives but next scene we have also split in 3 left 3 right walking and i thought nah it doesnt matter XD. I guess one time a jojo spoiler in the openin and gave up next second.
Answering your question: yes, there is a LOT of variety in the show itself as well. Mostly because each season is it's own story with a different cast and completely different vibe to the previous one. From 19th century England and a road movie set in the middle east all the way to a mafia story set in Italy and a serial killer mystery set in a small Japanese town - you name it. And during each season there are several arcs that can also be wildly different in tone to one another. Not to mention heroes and villains, who do not follow the typical infinite power escalation trope, but instead their abilities get more and more unique, inventive and wild. And most of the time heroes win by outsmarting their opponents. And all of that is stuffed with a very unique style and sense of humor. The author of the manga, Hirohiko Araki, never lets things go stale, as if his life depends on it or something. After the 6th part he even rebooted the whole JoJo universe and now he's rebooting it again XD
It might not be my favourite shonen anime, but my favourite shonen anime for sure took inspiration from it. The earlier parts still stand up today, even when originally written a time where manga was dominated by big buff dudes who only won because of physical strength and not much training. Hell, even though each part has its strengths and weaknesses, I think it has only improved over time. How it has kept running, and grown even more consistently solid, is mental. Jojo's jumps around in tone, setting, timeframe and characters so much I think every person can love at least one part. Of course I, like many others, appreciate all the parts (even if I do have my favourites)!
I’m so glad you noticed the high trumpet release at the start, NO ONE NOTICES IT SOMEHOW AND ITS SO GOOD, gives me goosebumps every time and I’m glad you picked up on it
this is how i feel about that little trumpety sound in great days after "let the voice of love take you higher" and "1999 bizarre summer" its literally the highlight of my days
39:46 Yes! That's Venezia. This part of the show is all set on Italy, the creator of JoJo's always loved Italy so he decided he could do this entire part of the manga/anime that the story takes place to be there and the level of detail on it's phenomenal.
@@Mo-fu9sm chase is very underrated and it's such a fucking shame 😢 It's one of the best Jojo openings in my opinion, embodying the story change in a very neat way
I usually cant stand when people pause throughout, but you stopping through and getting excited about stuff makes me even more excited to listen to these songs again! Plus its really interesting hearing about the technical side of songs I've listened to hundreds of times. I keep finding your videos through recommended, it'll be easier to just sub instead :)
the only bad thing about JoJo is Kira Yoshikage, that guy is rotten to the core, makes a great villain for sure no doubt but, damn he truly is an evil motherfucker...
Usually I don’t like it when people pause partway through songs, but you do it in a way that I can appreciate, even if I prefer an uninterrupted watch through, you manage to pause and rewind in a highly efficient and flowing manner unlike the usual disjointed starting and stopping I usually have to avoid, it goes to show you have a good ear for the whole progression of the song. I’m also quite pleased to hear the opinion on the more minor details of the songs that few of any ever pick up on, I’m not too well versed in music myself but I have a type of sensory disorder that allows me to differentiate between pitches, keys, etc better and even allows me to pick up on frequencies that are slightly higher or lower than the average person can and it’s nice to see someone else acknowledge those sorts of things. Lastly, the second to last opening you watched has 2 alternate versions to it, they are mostly visual differences but the the third variation (which is called GER version) has much more orchestral backing to it near the end, not sure if that’s worth a video but it’s probably worth a listen to if you’re interested. Overall amazing job and keep up the good work, I’m subscribed now.
One neat thing about 'Chase' (the emo sounding one) is that the lyrics carry meaning for both the protagonist and antagonist. Very thematically appropriate for that part, since they both face what they perceive to be the same kind of challenge. Great video btw!
I think one really cool fact when you said that the drum player reminded you of Ringo is that the name "JoJo" for the main character was actually inspired by a Beatles song, “Get Back”. Also, in a later part on the manga, there's a character called "Ringo Roadagain" which is in clear reference to Ringo Starr and also to the song "On The Road Again" by Willie Nilsson. Araki(creator of Jojo's) loves music and really enjoy to put his litte references on his works, what is also funny cause JoJo's became one of the most referenced manga on history. Even some Street Fighter characters and scenarios are based on JoJo's characters and scenarios.
The name Jojo isn't from the Beatles song that is a common misconception that is spread around because it just fits the music reference. The name "JoJo" originated at a Denny's where Araki and his first editor, Ryosuke Kabashima, had their first meeting pertaining to the series. The two had decided on "Jonathan" as the series' protagonist, however, Araki also wanted the initials to match in a way similar to the filmmaker Steven Spielberg (S.S). They eventually landed on the name, "Jonathan Joestar" (J.J) and thus the nickname "JoJo" was born.
There's actually 2 more variations of the Traitor's Requiem opening, and it's a shame the video you watched didn't have them because they kinda bring their own song into it entirely. Highly suggest checking them out in your own time if you're interested!
I don’t know a lot about music and I’m completely tone deaf but watching you break it down like that is so so entertaining, especially when you watched the second op and at the beginning mentioned the bass line and repeated it for those who didn’t catch it, and then i DID hear what you meant, made me feel really included hehe. Anyway great video!!
@@DrumRollTonyReacts No no, I didn't mean litteraly my teacher 😂. I meant as in you have the whole teacher vibe going on. Sorry for the misunderstanding
@@sheru7793 Oh its cool. I AM a teacher. LOL. I actually taught High School band for 11 years. I do a lot of contract teaching now. Music is not a hobby for me though. It's my career.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts ahh no wonder, keep it up bro, yer killing it, your commentary screams genuine passion. Looking forward to more videos and substantial growth
Man, I'm not really much for reaction videos, but the way you presented it and got excited over the different attributes and pieces within the music itself really took me back to how I felt listening to the songs the first time. This is a good little nostalgia trip for me, but I really enjoyed it so here's a sub.
@DrumRollTonyReacts If I can make a suggestion continuing in the vein of anime, quite a few songs from Space Dandy seem right up your alley. I'll drop a couple examples. ruclips.net/video/w7ziIxTXqYE/видео.html ruclips.net/video/rXzVP30p4cg/видео.html These are just a couple of my favorites but the whole OST is full of jams.
"Is there as much variety in the show?" - that's an understatement 😁 The show is so extra it will blow your mind. I REALLY enjoyed your reaction and deconstruction of these openings! What a great video.
This anime perhaps above all others is perfectly described by its title. The only ones that are more so are those extra long titles that are basically college thesis titles.
I really like your channel because not only are you reacting to some great anime OSTs and OPs, but you break down the music itself for people like me that really enjoy this music and try to understand why I like it. I have no music theory training and play violin but love the sound of guitar, bass and drums in J-pop/J-rock so much. Thanks for helping people like me learn about the nuances in this music! Keep up the good work!
I don't know if you're already way ahead of me on this but when it comes to j-pop/j-rock i absolutely super-recommend Yorushika. They're probably my favorite band rn (and have been for a while) and this is coming from someone who used to primarily do extreme metal/heavy noise music. Something flipped in my heart and i just couldnt stop listening to them. N-buna is an absolutely masterful composer, definitely drove me to become better at guitar, and Suis' vocals carry so much emotion to go along with the intricately crafted sound.
Dude, JoJo is so f**king awesome, love the series, the characters, and the music! Especially Bloody Stream, Sono Chino Kioku and Sono Chino Sadame! All the harmonies and sudden dynamic changes and vibratos make them to DIE for to me as a musician, an actor, dancer, and singer, I know that THIS is a perfect sound!
Yes, each part/season usually has a completely different tone and/or genre, so it makes sense that the openings do the same. And yes, this takes place in the "real world", different seasons usually take place in different time periods and countries, but the setting is generally somewhat recognizable and real even if the show itself is very supernatural. The source material constantly references music classics, and it feels like the people behind the show wanted to do it justice and have the best music possible.
Here's a really cool idea for videos: Once you watch the parts of the series when these openings are playing, go over them again and talk about how the choice of music composition conveys the themes and emotions the current narrative of the story is trying to convey. You can do this with Attack on Titan or Jojo's, both would be REALLY interesting watches.
So another fun thing about Jojo openings is not just the attention to detail in the music, but also aligning the visuals with the music alongside foreshadowing the arc'c events. Watching Jojo and going back over the opening and realizing how the music and visuals hint at what is actually happening is part of what makes these openings so legendary.
Also at 31:00 when you ask if the variety in the tunes correlates with the variety of the show, it very much does. Jojo is segmented into parts with their own setting s, characters, and villains each in a different flavor with them all being connected by the Joestar bloodline and some tie-ins from previous parts pushing a full narrative but not staying constrained to one main character or cast and constantly switching it up just like the ops
Yeah the subtle hints, symbolism, and foreshadowing in the openings are absolutely next level. Ceasar screaming and Joseph putting on his headband alone while letting out a shout, Jonathan closing his eyes, making way for both Joseph and Jotaro opening their eyes... The small star joining the others (Iggy), Jotaro moving his hand slightly when he's surrounded, such cool attention to detail without outright spoiling anything! Even the refusal to show Koichi's Echoes until it ACTUALLY fully hatches, just wish all openings were this good
@@phonesjuda7318 yes, Joseph is the type of person that would say ez pz lemon squeeze when he's the one who get carried hard by his team (he basically did this when he "beat" Kars lol)
This has got to be the best Jojo OP reaction I've ever seen. You really understand every single thing I like about the music and point it all out in a way that I haven't thought about before.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts It's not just nice, it's the truth. Your analysis and content goes far beyond the basic anime reactions. I would love to see more reactions to the OST besides Giorno's Theme. Each character (even the minor villains) has their own theme that reflects their personality and abilities, so I think you would have some great analysis of the Jojo, Jobro, and main villain themes.
Fun fact, the creator of Jojo is a massive fan of 80's and 90's bands to the point where he named many of the characters and even their powers after them. Some examples include Josuke: Crazy Diamond Koichi: Echoes Kira: Killer Queen/Bites the Dust Giorno: Golden Experience/Requiem Bucherati: Sticky Fingers Trish: Spice Girls Narancha: Aerosmith Mista: Sex pistols Diavolo: King Crimson Jolyne: Stone Free Weather Report Enrico Pucchi: White Snake/C-Moon/Made in Heaven Funny Valintine: D4C/ Dirty Deeds done dirt cheap
I LOVE HOW YOU BROUGHT UP THE 70’s ACTION FEEL. because that is exactly what started this whole story because it’s been being written for such a long time and was influenced by famous 70’s action comics and manga so they kept the feel when producing the anime showing the changes in time that occur
This is exactly the type of video I need to listen to and pass time at work. Fun fact about the 4th opening is that it’s a collaboration between the 3 different artist of the previous openings. It wraps well with the story itself as a resolution to a rivalry. One of the reasons each of those songs is so different is because JoJos is generational, each season has a new “Jojo” or main character from a future generation, and with each generation obviously there are cultural differences, which is captured with these songs.
The thing I loved the most about the first opening was the muffled "Jojo" that sounded like a heartbeat, especially since the song is titled _Destiny of this blood._
I've never seen anyone comment on the actual musical composition itself of the jojo openings. Really interesting stuff I never thought I'd be interested to learn about!
This is probably the best opening reaction I've ever seen. I learned so many new things and it's my favorite show. And yes part 5 of the series takes place in venice
I loved how you're like, "I don't hear any difference." most of the time it's, "Just wait." but also, i'm really glad to have found you, your analysis was tremendous and appreciated. more inciteful than most ppl on here. You made me hear different parts of the instrumental, and I love that.
I love bass so much, its hard to notice but its the sound that is absolutly nececary to the feel of a song. Listening to bass legit makes me indescribably happy.
Passion for a subject is contagious and your love for music made me more respectful for the art, I love music too, and you just opened my eyes with a door to a new room of toys to explore, what it feels like. Thank You. I hope you continue to analyse anime/game music, there are a lot of golden content to explore.
Okay spoilerfree fun facts: You mentioned 70s style on multiple occasions, turns out thats by design as jojo started around the 70s😁 These hommages to britney spears led Zeppelin, beatles and what not fall into the per design point as well, jojo is heavily inspired by music of its respective time. People and powers named after them so often im not sure if a single character isnt paying hommage to something music related
That's flat out wrong. jojo started in the 80s, 1987 specifically. Jojo used to be a fist of the North star clone but British. Instead of accidently spread misinformation, try to do a quick Web search.
I love the way you react to things. It feels like an *actual* reaction. A lot of RUclipsr “reactors” will basically just be a reupload of the original video with them sitting in the bottom corner occasionally laughing or something. You actually stop, point out what you like, go back to get a better understanding, explain what you got from it, etc. Keep it up ^^
A cool reason to watch the show: THERE ARE SO MANY MUSIC REFERENCES EACH SEASONS/PARTS ITS INSANE!!! From Speedwagon to Killer Queen to Foo Fighters! The author of the manga LOVES western music and cultures and captivates locations throughout the world and incorporates it in his works. It’s such a great show to watch and I recommend it to anyone who listens!
Yeah he even names most of the characters and their "stands" after bands. From Metallica to Pet Shop (Boys) to Loggins and Messina. Good times. (My favorite: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap aka D4C although King Crimson is also pretty dope.
Your favorite ones, the second opening "Bloody Stream" and the "Fighting Gold" one are also my favorite. Also there's full versions for both of this songs that are absolutely amazing with a lot of changes in between different sections of both songs that they don't show on the openings because they have to do an shortened version for it.
23:22 The DU is the band from the 5th opening and unfortunately it was created just for the anime and produced only this song and participated in a special version of the song from the 7th opening where all the vocalists from the previous openings sing together. in addition, the fourth opening has 3 vocalists, which are the 3 vocalists of the previous 3 openings.
My favorite thing about your videos is that I've literally listened to all these intros countless times and you STILL managed to point out so many little things I never noticed. Awesome videos!
30:56 yeah there's a lot of variety one minute it'll be light hearted comedy, the next, someone will be gushing out blood The characters also change every season, and there's a whole new feel to the show
@@felipevasconcelos6736 I love that scene. Rohan starts laughing, Josuke starts awkwardly laughing, then BOOM Rohan cuts his finger off with a blank face and doesn't even flinch. Josuke's was equally as shocked as I was. But say what you want about Rohan, he has the most drip out of Part 4
Just a heads up: MOST times, not always, but MOST TIMES, the bands and artists that do Anime openings and endings ARE real legit bands. Some of the greatest artists of their genre in all asia, but mostly Japan, have done openings for an anime. A few ones are bands created to work on a single for a show, but that's a little more rare these days.
What I love about all of these openings, is that this is basically the radio edit of the actual song. The actual soundtracks for each part have a full version of the OP, and it basically doubles the length of each song with new verses.
8:11 Coda (Kazusou Oda) is straight up awesome A song I'd highly recommend isn't actually used in JoJo to my knowledge, but is absolutely fantastic, "Crazy My Beat" Really fun to sing them too
The actual parts are just as varied as their openings. Part one is vampires in the 1800’s Part two is WW2 vampires Part three is a globetrotting adventure Part four is a slice of life murder mystery Part five is a gang drama Part six is a prison drama Part seven is a horse race Part eight is… I haven’t got that far but it’s something I’m sure
31:00 every “part” of jojo’s bizarre adventure is not only in a different time period with different characters, but even different genres of story. There absolutely is this much variety in the show itself.
Oh trust me when I say the show is the king of variety. Each part takes place in a different place, different era, with an entirely new cast of characters and even all the protagonists are different for each part, though they are part of same family lineage, and whenever we get to see a character from an older part it's a treat since you get to see how the passage of time has affected them. The power system itself is one the most unique and fleshed out in anime allowing for the characters to have hyper specific but at the same time possibly reality bending abilities that all depend of the character's ability to use and abuse them in creative ways, this turns each battle into a puzzle as each character tried to figure out the other's abilities and weaknesses without revealing their own to gain the advantage. Not to mention the author's incredible sense of culture seeping through every scene, with innumerable references to music and pop culture of the time each part was written in. There is no more fitting series to the title "bizarre" than JoJo's.
Jojo and Music culture are inseparable as the manga is literally one man's Playlist brought to life. While the intro songs are written and produced by Japanese bands and artist, the end credit themes are hand selected licensed tracks that he would listen to on rotation while penning his work during particular story arcs.
I'm a long time Jojo fan, and a new audience to your content. The reason why I love watching experts react to these music is finding new ways to love and appreciate my favorite songs all over again. Opening 2 Bloody Stream is my favorite, and I've listened to it for so many times that it becomes a given that everything just comes together into an amazing piece. I've only noticed how powerful the opening bass part is when you pointed it out, and following the bass has led to a new journey through that song
The reason why there is 2 versions of some opennings is related to the appearance of the main antagonist of each part, so I would recommend you to not focus on them too much because they will show you HUGE hints and details, thru the images and the music itself, about the antagonist ability and power, so keep them until you start watching the episodes. And thank you for this great video.
Fun fact : the original comics span decades (from 1987 till today) and the openings were written so that they would reflect the popular anime opening styles from when the comic for each season was released; hence the variety in genre and vocal styles of the songs, so that people could feel like they were watching something that actually came out in the era of that particular season. Big brain writing indeed.
This is an awesome breakdown! As someone who was pretty invested in music theory in high school I was always blown away by these intros musically, but lacked the vocabulary or experience to describe in words what made them great to me. Please do more musical breakdowns no matter what they are, you're good at communicating this stuff
I'm glad you picked up on the dissonance in Chase, I love the tonal shift the song's mood takes in accordance with the show, especially comparing the song before it. I agree that every composer who worked on this show is hugebrained. Instantly subbed, I love your commentary
So yeah for End of the World it's 3 previous singers for the first 3 openings singing that song. Then one of them, Coda, sings for another song, the Fighting Gold. Some of the openings (endings too) have variations when a major plot point is revealed in the story, the characters "disrupt" the opening sequence in almost a breaking the 4th wall manner. There's actually another TWO variations of Traitor's Requiem that is not included in the video you watched, which alters both the visuals and the music a little bit (symphony at the end). 30:53 yes! The show is divided into parts. Each part has its own protagonist and settings. Every parts are connected, yet feel different than the other. Anyway, I enjoyed our reaction so much, I don't mind the pause because I want to know how someone who knows music breaks the openings down from the musical standpoint. My favorites are Bloody Stream, Great Days, and Stone Ocean. Also when you eventually watch the show, make sure not to skip the openings in case new variation happen 😁, cheers mate.
@@desgyulabalogh3429 Yeah but it's not just the scheduling, the animation was definitely worse then before (though i think not that bad as other people say) and the placement of the music was awful even tho they had an amazing ost to work with. I feel like David Production is also at fault because they definitely sidelined it hard
The composer for Giorno's theme, Kanno Yugo-sensei, also made "Great Days" and "Traitors' Requiem" (Also he is the composer for Parts 3-6, so far. Basically the rest of the entire series) I put him on the level of being a modern-day Nobuo Uematsu, basically
Yes the anime has a whole lot of variety each season comes with a new set of main characters and a whole new time period and setting. They go from England, Japan, Egypt, Italy, USA, ect. The openings definitely showcase that variety also.
man took a 18 min video into a 46 min video and some how I loved every fucking second god damn so much fun. I haven't revisited jojo openings in so long and you got me smiling over my old ass hype I got at 14 man I love you. so informative, fun, and just damn man couldn't stop smiling 😀. gonna have to binge ur vids now fuck
Man I absolutely love your commentary on the music!! You caught some bass things that I never noticed! My poor headphones can't handle the bass end very well, so it was easy to miss. Also, I love the Paint It Black reference you made with Stand Proud. My brain made that connection too!! Same with Stone Ocean and Whole Lotta Love. Love me some Led Zeppelin.
Disclaimer REMINDER if you skipped the intro: I stop and rewind OFTEN in these videos! Lot's of talking and going back to hear things more than once. This video turned into a LONG one. Oooops. I had a lot of fun doing this tho! ⏩Video Question: Which opening have you listened to the most? www.twitch.tv/drumrolltony
15:30 The reason there's a lot of feel changes is because that opening is sung by every singer of the previous opening together, even though most of the opening they sing at the same time, you can kind of separate where each of their parts begin. 13:36 - 15:23 sung by the first opening singer 15:23 - 16:47 sung by the second opening singer And the rest is either the third opening singer or every singer combined to make a cool effect.
This show wears its musical influence on its sleeve. Just about every character or ability is named after a song or artist the writer liked at the time.
The sheer joy on your face with those intros really goes to show just amazingly well put together they are. More than two paragraphs ever could. Amazing content. =)
The thing I love about the second Za World intro is that your not expecting Dio to appear so when you watch it for the the first time your kinda shocked
I’d definitely listen to the full versions of all these songs. Every bit of the each song is filled with so much detail, and maximum effort was put into them. There’s always a fire drum, guitar, or trumpet breakdown between the main verses. Every piece is unique, and so is every part of the show. Cant recommend the show or the full songs enough.
jojo is that art work that I would love to forget just to experience it again like the first time. Everything about the feels, the story, the characters, the musics, the themes... everything is amazing, every opening is unskippable and unique just like the parts of the anime/manga, everytime I hear to these ops I get goosebumps
Great video! glad you reacted to these openings, also off camera or not, watch jojo, its an amasing anime, it got comedy, some sad moments, interesting fights and BIZZARE situations
The more you listen to Fighting Gold, the more you enjoy it! It's easily my favorite. Coda is just a master of making absolute jams. This and Bloody Stream are up there for sure
Only halfway through the vid and I'm already gonna sub. This series is very dear to me and I love seeing your enjoyment breaking down these openings. Rewinding back to listen again is only a compliment.
Oh if you love these, you'll love the extended/full versions of the openings. The extended versions of Bloody Stream and Chase add so much cool stuff that i really wished you were watching those instead. You should be able to find them just by adding the word full to a search of the title.
The most beautiful thing about JOJO's openings is that the visual range, the frames are just perfect not only for the rhythm of the song or the beat, but also for the vocals at the same time. This is a perfect synergy of image and sound. I am a fan of this anime and for me a distinctive feature is not only music, but also references to popular culture, since the creator of the original source is a fan of American bands such as Aerosmith, Deep Purple and many others. For the ending, the composition Roundabout of the YES group was purchased.
This is awesome! I think you might find it amusing that the creator of the series is a HUGE American music fan. A lot of the characters and powers are named after famous bands or songs or albums. The funny thing is, they have to change the name slightly when they dub it to English for copyright purposes. For example "Moody Blues" had to be changed to "Moody Jazz" lol. But there are names for characters/powers like - Aerosmith, King Crimson, Purple Haze, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Spice Girl, Stone Free, Oasis, Green Day, it goes on. They definitely put an emphasis on music and fashion in this series.
My most favorite is Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town. It's so fun, funky and groovy. Also great video. It's fun to listen to your analysis on music because as a graphic designer and aspiring artist myself I usually focus only on visual most of the time.
I'm so happy you reacted to these, JoJo's BA is my favorite anime/manga. A lot of weird stuff and tone changes happen in the story. It's divided in parts and every part is super different to the one before it. I really recommend checking it out, some people find the first part a bit weak (I personally love it) but if you keep pushing through, you'll see a lot awesome and bizarre stuff AND great music too, not just in the opening songs. Great video, love your analysis of the music. And loved the AoT ones too btw.
The anime’s creator Araki loves music so much he literally made so many characters referencing bands like Kars, esidici (AC/DC), a character literally called Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc
He really should have swapped the powers of AC/DC and RHCP lol. Like, he gave the name AC/DC to a character who uses fire and the name Red Hot Chili Peppers to a stand which is electricity
I love how you show appreciation and understanding for each intro and make notes that reflect that part of the show without you even knowing it lol. It shows the skill of Coda and the rest who make them but also your skill in musical literacy. Great video!

OPENING BAND/SINGERS:
OP 1: Hiroaki Tominaga (aka "Tommy")
TOMMY is a Japanese singer and the vocalist of the Japanese rock band BLUFF. But I believe this was made without his band.
OP2: CODA
Coda is a Japanese singer-songwriter, composer, and sound producer also not performing in a specific band for the opening.
She performed "STONE OCEAN"

I think he'd be more interested in the production and instruments side of credits.
Thanks for the information. Also your writing style is very nice.

Awesome Information Ty
This was a great response but I feel like you kind of spoiled the reboot thing
It might not be my favourite shonen anime, but my favourite shonen anime for sure took inspiration from it. The earlier parts still stand up today, even when originally written a time where manga was dominated by big buff dudes who only won because of physical strength and not much training. Hell, even though each part has its strengths and weaknesses, I think it has only improved over time. How it has kept running, and grown even more consistently solid, is mental. Jojo's jumps around in tone, setting, timeframe and characters so much I think every person can love at least one part. Of course I, like many others, appreciate all the parts (even if I do have my favourites)!

Oh that makes sense now. That's cool
Ringo Roadagain was such a great character just wanted to add that, part 7 was just the best

Here's a really cool idea for videos:
Once you watch the parts of the series when these openings are playing, go over them again and talk about how the choice of music composition conveys the themes and emotions the current narrative of the story is trying to convey.

Even the refusal to show Koichi's Echoes until it ACTUALLY fully hatches, just wish all openings were this good
and if you notice, all the main jojos get a 3d opening, while the bastard children get 2d animation

This is exactly the type of video I need to listen to and pass time at work.
Fun fact about the 4th opening is that it’s a collaboration between the 3 different artist of the previous openings. It wraps well with the story itself as a resolution to a rivalry. I loved how you're like, "I don't hear any difference." most of the time it's, "Just wait."
but also, i'm really glad to have found you, your analysis was tremendous and appreciated. more inciteful than most ppl on here. You made me hear different parts of the instrumental, and I love that.
I've been waiting for this soooo long... You give such a deep analysis of the music! I love it. I hope u enjoy JoJo music 🎶 ♥
I love bass so much, its hard to notice but its the sound that is absolutly nececary to the feel of a song. Listening to bass legit makes me indescribably happy.
ong
I’m a drum player but I can appreciate a good bass line since they’re both kinda support instruments that are necessary for a song
Passion for a subject is contagious and your love for music made me more respectful for the art, I love music too, and you just opened my eyes with a door to a new room of toys to explore, what it feels like. Thank You. I hope you continue to analyse anime/game music, there are a lot of golden content to explore.
Thanks for the nice comment
Okay spoilerfree fun facts:
You mentioned 70s style on multiple occasions, turns out thats by design as jojo started around the 70s😁
These hommages to britney spears led Zeppelin, beatles and what not fall into the per design point as well, jojo is heavily inspired by music of its respective time. People and powers named after them so often im not sure if a single character isnt paying hommage to something music related
And if it's not music, it's usually Hollywood or fashion!
yea almost every character is given the name after araki's (the author) favourite bands/songs
He also starts naming characters after fashion brands here and there
That's flat out wrong. jojo started in the 80s, 1987 specifically. Jojo used to be a fist of the North star clone but British. Instead of accidently spread misinformation, try to do a quick Web search.
@@masstrash4609 he might have meant that Araki had been WORKING on it since the 70s, but I'm not sure if that is correct either
Keep it up ^^
You seemed to like the writing style of Coda. Coda wrote both Bloody Stream and Fighting Gold, both of which you said were favorites.
The artists behind the jojo intros: "Alright, we need someone to make the song....GET CODA!"
He also sung in Sono chi no kioku!

The author is a huge fan of music thats why there is a lot of differents types
Yeah he even names most of the characters and their "stands" after bands. From Metallica to Pet Shop (Boys) to Loggins and Messina. Good times. (My favorite: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap aka D4C although King Crimson is also pretty dope.

Your favorite ones, the second opening "Bloody Stream" and the "Fighting Gold" one are also my favorite. Also there's full versions for both of this songs that are absolutely amazing with a lot of changes in between different sections of both songs that they don't show on the openings because they have to do an shortened version for it.
yes, it would be a good idea for him to react to the full versions of these specific songs
Also that same artist made both
coda's voice is godly
Yes
ya coda is just that goated
23:22 The DU is the band from the 5th opening and unfortunately it was created just for the anime and produced only this song and participated in a special version of the song from the 7th opening where all the vocalists from the previous openings sing together.
in addition, the fourth opening has 3 vocalists, which are the 3 vocalists of the previous 3 openings.
My favorite thing about your videos is that I've literally listened to all these intros countless times and you STILL managed to point out so many little things I never noticed. Awesome videos!
30:56
yeah there's a lot of variety
one minute it'll be light hearted comedy, the next, someone will be gushing out blood
The characters also change every season, and there's a whole new feel to the show
I wish they made movies for each part, its sad that u never get the chance to see ur favo jojos again
That’s an understatement, there’s a character who literally goes from laughing about a stupid bet to chopping off his own finger in a second.
8:11 Coda (Kazusou Oda) is straight up awesome
A song I'd highly recommend isn't actually used in JoJo to my knowledge, but is absolutely fantastic, "Crazy My Beat"
Really fun to sing them too

Part two is WW2 vampires
Part three is a globetrotting adventure
Part four is a slice of life murder mystery
Part five is a gang drama
Part six is a prison drama

There is no more fitting series to the title "bizarre" than JoJo's.
exactly, the variety in the story explains the songs so different from each other
Jojo and Music culture are inseparable as the manga is literally one man's Playlist brought to life.
Just a slight correction, *’Stand Proud’* was the third opening. The one with the 3 previous singers was the 4th opening *’End of The World’*

@@Ren.4744 Maybe i just watched it with rose tinted glasses, i really liked part 6 of the manga as well
The composer for Giorno's theme, Kanno Yugo-sensei, also made "Great Days" and "Traitors' Requiem"
(Also he is the composer for Parts 3-6, so far. Basically the rest of the entire series) I put him on the level of being a modern-day Nobuo Uematsu, basically
ok , he is good
I don't think he made Great Days, right?
Yes the anime has a whole lot of variety each season comes with a new set of main characters and a whole new time period and setting. They go from England, Japan, Egypt, Italy, USA, ect. The openings definitely showcase that variety also.

The reason there's a lot of feel changes is because that opening is sung by every singer of the previous opening together, even though most of the opening they sing at the same time, you can kind of separate where each of their parts begin.
13:36 - 15:23 sung by the first opening singer
15:23 - 16:47 sung by the second opening singer
And the rest is either the third opening singer or every singer combined to make a cool effect.

This show wears its musical influence on its sleeve. Just about every character or ability is named after a song or artist the writer liked at the time.
38:28 so spot on that he did the italian gesture on the italian jojo part
You don't even know everything i'd do to watch this show for the first time again.
