    I think I'm where you are. I got BP in 1996. After 27 years, I might be feeling a bit more movement in my forehead so I'm researching again and found your videos. Thanks for making them. I've accepted that I won't recover 100%, but any little improvement, I'll take. I also may have done damage trying too much in the early periods with accupuncture and other treatments. I may also have massaged my face too hard. It's been a hell of a journey, but it's made me stronger.

    I am nearly 60 and have been very lucky, because I have never had a illness in my life (apart from colds and flu (twice)). But then 4 months ago I got Bell's Palsy, and I found it very difficult to handle. After a tough time it is now 95% healed, but in the very early days I couldn't find much useful info anywhere. Then I found your videos, and I just wanted to let you know how helpful they have been. Very clear and down-to-earth, and so much more positive than I usually felt! Thanks!!

    Hi,
    The reason I am following you on You Tube is because my daughter, who is 38 years old, woke up with Bells Palsy. You have helped us learn so much about the progression of this " affliction"! I am sure we have seen you as you have tried to help others know what to expect in the physical realm, but I was wondering if you could talk about the emotional side of dealing with Bells Palsy on a daily basis. It helps to know that you are not alone, and that others are going through similar experiences. I think you are a very good teacher and I want to say, Thank you.

    I am glad that I watched your video. So much of what you described is what I have experienced. I am on year 5 and I am still trying to come to terms with my new look. Thank you for doing this video.

    wow your recovery is great. so happy for you. BP really sucks. like Edna Parker, my eyes are extremely sensitive to everything. eye drops often seems to help and also physically closing it for a few minutes while trying to relax my face helps also. I have started to tape my eye shut during sleep and that seems to help make it feel better in the mornings. positive attitude I believe is extremely important. thanks for all your videos Jessica. and to all affected hang in there be positive.

    My father was just recently (this morning) diagnosed with this condition and I freaked out and thought he was having or had a stroke or something. By watching some of you videos to make sure that one "knows" what they are talking about, and You are the one. I am actually taking notes and informing my dad about this condition. Thank you Very much!!

    All this time I thought I had a minor stroke but looking back I now know it had to be Bell's Palsy. I was incredibly stressed out and the right side of my face hasn't been the same. I will start doing these exercises to help. You look amazing and have given me hope.

    Jessica,
    I remember talking to you on the bell's forum.. I had bell's just 3 weeks before you...the guy who's your age from Canada, East Coast. Anyway, I have healed completely except I have synkinesis in my eyebrow when making an O shape with my lips. I also started exercising immediately and sincerely believe that stress brought on my case. I log in from time to time to check up on you, and I must say you look great! Very attractive. Keep it up.

    My doctor said the same thing how I'm young and should be gone a few days. I'm a little scared, but looking at your videos have given me hope that I can get thru this. Thank you and very well put on everything you've said. Thank you.

    • @FitGirl15
      @FitGirl15  9 лет назад +1

      +Benny Hill Unfortunately doctors don't know really what's going on inside of your body... but being younger is a plus, because it gives you much longer time frame to heal!!! You will get through this, stay positive and never lose hope!

    Looking good Jess! I haven't been on in forever. I feel the same way about just accepting my new face! I don't let it get to me too much. I have been taking Vitamin B12 and that actually makes my face twinge in a good way. So I recommend that if you aren't taking it. Take Care!

    Pain isn't always associated with Bell's Palsy, but in MY CASE it was! I had pain for 3 days... which started 3 days after onset. I did NOT get headaches, but that does not strike me as abnormal for such a condition. Be patient, rest and relax. Your body is sick right now, and you need time for this to recover!

    I am recovering from a sever case. I couldn't move my mouth at all for 4 months. Is been a year now and I have gained back maybe 90% of movement but now I'm dealing with synkinesis. Do you still have it or did it go away? I've read where it can take a year or two for synkinesis to resolve.

    I also have Bell's Palsy and it has been a nightmare.
    You are right about the medical profession.
    You rarely get good answers. I feel that I have been so blown off it's not funny. This facial paralysis is has ruined my life.
    If you break a leg a Dr. will set it. You only find out information as you go along trying to find answers. These people have no idea what it is like walking around with a deformed face.

    I've just watched your video with interest. I'm six months in from a BP attack and am a little behind you in that the affected side of my mouth is still a bit sluggish when talking. The tone in my facial tissue has returned, but with it has come eye/mouth synkinesis. When the BP hit, I went rushing off to acupuncturists, facial reflexologists and chiropractors. But of course, it was a total waste of money as recovery is totally dependant on the Cranial 7th nerve repairing itself. Take care. JB

    Hi, I got Bells Palsy 6 months ago on both sides of my face. One side is much improved but I'm still struggling with the opposite side. Just trying to eat is difficult unless the food is quite soft. My ability to taste has been greatly affected, with food tasting either too salty, too sweet or bitter. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I also wanted to say that your videos are helpful, just in knowing that it does take time and to not expect the kind of recovery the doctors assured me I would experience. I will continue to watch your progress. Thank you for sharing.

      I had just told my husband that I might need my food blended up now. I always ate slower than everyone else but now it is even slower. My attack happened on August 7, 2018 and I am still having trouble thinking or functioning. Also...I still quite often have pain with it.

  • @FitGirl15
    @FitGirl15  12 лет назад +1

    I did not. But in hindsight, I think it is very important that you DO! It gives you time to process the issues you are going through and find proper ways to deal with them! Also, your body is screaming out that it's under stress, the least we should do is give it a few weeks to collect itself!

    I am NOT a doctor... but from my experience, acupuncture did NOTHING to make my Bell's Palsy go away any faster. Time and patience are what prevailed. And eventually, healing came!
    Warm heat can loosen up the facial muscles, but it does nothing to reduce the inflammation in the facial nerve. The facial nerve needs to heal before you will see significant movement return! Be patient!

    Thank you for your videos, they are keeping me going, I have Bell's Palsy for 4 1/2 months now. Did you experience any pain besides those 3 days you mentioned? Every time I tough my affected side to massage or for any reason, it hurts like when someone punch you or when you bump your forehead. I'm fed up with medicines, tried acupuncture, chiropractors, close to 20 different doctors... next thing will be a witch doctor lol. (Yes, I am that desperate)

    With bells palsy your lymphatic duct is inflamed and compresses your facial nerve. So it's an issue with the lymphatic system. Kangen water is high alkaline high anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory. I helped 2 people with the condition. I told them both to stop drinking coke or any other type of sodas due to them being way too acidic. I told the adult to drink 2 litres a day and the 8 year old 1 litre a day. Both made full recoveries, the adult was back to normal in a month and the 8 year old 3wks.

    What irritation of the BP eye? If you properly take care of the eye (patch it when required, apply eye gel to it when conditions are dry) it should not feel irritated. Do you think you may have damaged your cornea?

    Thx for this vid. It is now almost 5 mths for me post Bell's Palsy diagnosis. Started getting better after 7 or 8 weeks and just recently I noticed that when I close my eyes it feels like my one side of my mouth is slightly smiling. I don't think anyone has noticed or if it is even noticeable but I can feel it and know it is not the norm for me. I was afraid to mention it as I don't want people around me to think I am just complaining or imagining things but I wonder if it is slight Synkinesis

      Oh. You can watch my other videos to see what I did. Basically get lots of rest and take your vitamins! Everyone has very different severity of paralysis, so make sure you take care to make sure your eye is closed at night (tape it shut) and if you are also experiencing numbness in your mouth, to be very careful to eat soft foods to prevent choking!!! (It will go away, but can be quite scary if you cannot chew food properly!)
      Everyone heals at their own rate! Please be patient!

      S S Campbell most people who get mild cases, should only be dealing with symptoms for 4-6 weeks. Sounds like you may be having a severe case like me! Either way, it will take you some time to adjust and your body to adapt to this new stress on your system!
      Recognize that you are sick, and if you are kind to yourself during this time your recovery will be much smoother as a result!
      I wish you peace, calm and strength! You can get through this!!!

    My 8 year old son has facial paralysis from Lymes. It was bilateral after two weeks, which aided in the diagnosis the second side cleared up immediately with antibiotics, but the initial side, was fully paralyzed a little over two months. He began accupuncture, and we finally saw some movement return. It's been 3 1/2 months since the initial movement began, and he still has a considerable amt left especially with his eyebrow and upturn of his smile. He's also had Synekinesis starting with teari
