- Facial synkinesis is NOT a result of aberrant regeneration of facial nerve,. It is a CONDITIONED REFLEX, and it is therefore, reversible. This is the conclusion of 5 years of research at Crystal Touch clinic (analysis of initial data and recovery progress of over 300 patients).
"The Origin of Synkinesis: The most common complication after Bell's Palsy is, in fact, reversible." This was the topic of our presentation during the World Congress for NeuroRehabilitation in Philadelphia, USA (10-13 May 2016).

wow! i am most appreciative of this study.. i had bell's palsy when I was 37 weeks pregnant, Nov 24 2015.. I was flaccid for 1.5 months. Now at 7+ months I have been feeling synkinesis and i have lost hope. I am a physical therapist and have tried ES, massage, heating and exercises daily for 2 months, then 2xwk until just ocassional massage and exercise. I lost hope.. and this gives me HOPE today. I would like to know more about the rehabilitation. Thank you for the researchers. God Bless you!
I am the same way..10 days before I deliver my baby I have bells palsy.. I am gonna say 80 percent recover but not that bad..u will recover in the right time..took me 2 years to get to this point

I believe I know have synkinesis its still depressing till this day from the first day I got bells palsy its been a year & a half... Am I the only one who's still has pain on my face?????

Since 2002 my face began to deteriate I didn't notice at all until 2006. I had the the most beautiful smile, now my left side is non responsive.

Добрый день прослушала вашу лекцию очень познавательно я живу в Казахстане этой болезнью болею уже длительное время острые периоды наступают кажд 12 лет т.е первый раз заболела в 5 лет парез был слева прошел после курса лечения в недельный срок без последствий. Второй раз в 13 лет уже не помню с какой стороны скорее всего справа остаточно ассиметрия лица была незаметно но все же было. В третий раз в 24 года справа долго снимали отек почти месяц потом месяц лечили сответственно мимика не доконца восстановилась. Сейчас 48 лет заболела в четвертый раз уже порядка 60 дней прогресса нет отек снят но мимика не восстанавливается подскажите какое лечение нужно нормального врача найти не могу там где лечилась не до конца назначали лечение на вопрос почему мне то или это лечение не проводят врач сказал сейчас лечат так. Хотя на протяжении стольких лет я получала разное лечение это и антибиотики и гармональные препараты массаж прогревание иглоукалывание и электрофорез подскажите какое правильное лечение в данный момент мне нужен

Thank you for your work. I had a severe case of Bells Palsy 25 years ago, with three rare reoccurrences. I never had close to a recovery and terrible synkinesis. Is there still hope after a quarter of a century? The doctors and physical therapist didn’t know what to do. After years, I attempt to accept me for who I am on the inside, but I always am hopeful. Do you have connections in Philadelphia? Thanks for your research.
