    The press behind you installs the carrier bearings easier than that hammer. Holds the carrier in place to tighten the ring gear bolts too.

      I can tell someone has been paying attention. 😉 We like to demonstrate to our viewers there are multiple ways to do something. Although, press being the easier method, Not all viewers own one. I appreciate the input you gave for other viewers to read and understand this.

    What’s the orange thing you used to get the bearing off?

    • @axleoffroad
      @axleoffroad  17 дней назад

      It’s a bearing puller made by ARB. Check other shorts out of me demonstrating and explaining it.

    Thank you for this informative video with this knowledge I’m planning to open my own off road shop that specializes in this sort of work. Any advice?

      Lots of variables at play. Depends on different factors. If you’re local and interested, send us an email and we would be glad to provide a quote.

    You said left side factory shim. What about the right side.? Mine isn’t going in easy.

    • @axleoffroad
      @axleoffroad  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the comment. Yes, make sure you use the left side shim on the left side and the right side shim on the right side. You may need to add or subtract from each side if your backlash is not correct. Thanks for watching

  • @gone5452

    Did you use right side factory shim ?

    • @axleoffroad
      @axleoffroad  6 месяцев назад +1

      I believe we did initially, but it’s important to add and subtract shim thickness from both sides until backlash is ideal!

    • @gone5452
      @gone5452 6 месяцев назад

      @@axleoffroad ok ya because I’m having trouble putting it back in place with factory shims on both sides

    • @axleoffroad
      @axleoffroad  6 месяцев назад

      Do you have a micrometer and shim kit?

    • @gone5452
      @gone5452 6 месяцев назад

      @@axleoffroad yes I do , what if I use my shim kit on 1 side & factory shim on other ? Will that make a huge difference?

    • @axleoffroad
      @axleoffroad  6 месяцев назад

      If you use factory shims on one side and say it measures (example .256) then on the other side might measure (example: .250)
      original specs, whatever side you add to, take the same thickness away from the otherAnd vice versa. until backlash is correct and carrier is tight enough to hit with dead blow to fall out.
