  • I started out thinking it was a simple wheel bearing, but it ended up being the rear differential. (also the transfer case but I breeze right over that in the video) This stresses the importance of diagnosing something rather than throwing parts at it.

I've been in the business for 90 years, definitely the fuel pump.

So what is the difference between bad differential noise and bad wheel bearing noise? Cuz one mechanic told me it's the wheel bearing and another mechanic told me it's differential. But the differential is immensely more expensive than the wheel bearing to fix

While driving they can sound almost identical as both will drone throughout the entire car. The only real way to know is to jack up the car and spin the wheels with engine power (in case they don't make noise until X mph) and listen with a stethoscope or even a screwdriver with the handle end against your ear.

Mine is like that. My tires look fine though. Very weird.

I have an 02' Blazer ZR2 4.3 & it makes a sound coming from I'm assuming the rear, i replaced the front bearing hubs. Almost sounds like a low power steering sound but gets louder the faster i go. It only makes the noise while moving front or reverse. So I'm assuming it's a rear bearing or something. Nothing leaking, no play on the rear wheels, drive shaft is tight to the rear end. Has me confused. It sounds just like if it's low on Power Steering Fluid but again, only does it when rolling. No noises on throttle up.

LOL.... Looks like LOW tire pressure to me. Also, could be ALL that nasty pile of dust on your dash component... Give it a good cleaning, take the trash out of it and likely it will resolve the problem..

Assuming you mean like coasting down a hill or similar, no. I rolls/ coasts down hills just like it is supposed to.
