Nice summary. I have never had a countercade and might eventually get one, but not this release, unless it ends up the monitors are amazing or something. It'd be cool if there was a generic Arcade 1up cabinet that gets new games over wifi.

Enough with the vertical Countercades. Don't get why Arcade1up won't just launch a horizontal one. Currently own 2 second gen Countercades and I'm currently modding one to replace the screen with a better looking one and making it horizontal. In case anyone is interested, Pimoroni currently sells a 10'' LCD (pricier) that look waaay better than the stock screen.
Awesome video. You had me at light up marquee. I have way too many pacman cabs. My arcade. My arcade 40th anniversary. Numskull. Basic fun. Basic fun 40th and the tiny arcade. But I'm going with super pacman. I always liked the artwork of that machine and it can make an awesome addition to the $50 galaga countercade

I personally love the countercade products. I have a Super pacman ..... And i'm getting ready to buy the yellow trim Miss backman counter cade
Nice to see they are releasing new ones - But $149 is still a bit expensive for what these are ( THink they would have been much more successful if they had actually stuck to their pre-release $99 price point they had announced for the 2nd version ) - sure the lit marquee helps justify it some what but they really need to go to a 12"-13" screen with better viewing angles if wanting to charge that price or bring them down Sub $100 if leaving the poor quality 8" screen. Also including a USB battery pack inside for portability would be a good idea ( Since the v2's only use 5V power, it's an easy addition to them and a regular 5V USB battery will run the thing for 12+ hours easily )
If the Super Pac Man cabinet had Galaga it would be a must buy, but as of now I only kind of want it
Would be cool if they released some smaller versions of Xmen COTA or other fighting games.🙂
I wonder if QVC will get a 2 in 1 Ms Pac Man 40th with the wood grain panels. If so I may have to grab.
I would not be surprised to see QVC/HSN get some different variations of these similar to what occurred last year.

Good review, as always. I have to say that these products are not for me, but for those who like them, the addition of the headphone jack is definitely a good idea. The fact that they have so few games is a turn off for me. I know they make a range of products with different games, but who has room to store a whole bunch of these? Not me, that’s for sure. A single player bar top with a bigger, higher quality screen, more spacing between the controls, and many more games seems like a better option. Just my opinion, of course, and I know that there are lots of people who really like these small systems.
While I think it's good that they keep making improvements these just to appeal to me all that much. I will say though, if they do a SF, TMNT, or Simpsons one...I would probably just buy it because it looks cool on my desk. Screen is very important though and hope they are using another for improvements

@@cooltoy I am trying to find out if this Pac-Man game is hard to play. Meaning we have bought a variety of Pac-Man games and a lot of these games you cannot get past the first 4-5 levels before game over. We played Pac-Man versions when we were younger and the amount of time the ghosts stayed in the state where you could eat them had a much slower gradual change that took many boards where they changed back from being able to be eaten faster. Basically we don’t want to buy another game that the ghosts are changing back to not being able to be eaten really fast only on bird 2-3. Any idea how these are? We want to have fun not die so fast.

I just got my new Ms. Pac Man 40'th anniversary counter cade arcade I got it yesterday afternoon on Friday the games are Ms.Pac Man Mappy Romrers New Rally X game listing I love Pac-man the graphics are very well dune I love it it really pop's out at you.

I would love to see a dedicated Defender countercade.. if not a full one.
They showed one off at E3 two years ago, and I played it, it was quite nice. Unfortunately it never got made for retail and at this stage I doubt it ever will
@@cooltoy Makes me sad because that would have been epic to see a Defender countercade with Stargate :) Maybe just maybe... these new wave of Pac-Man cabs will make enough money so it will see the light of day. One can dream.
Only problem I see with that would be the button layout/spacing - with the width of them getting a proper defender/stargate layout would be challenging unless they switched to a smaller diameter button as well.
Hope there’s speed option on the Pac-man games.
I would hope so too, especially given that Arcade1Up has already offered firmware updates for that feature on previous machines.

Awesome review. I think for me they're gonna have to put a newer generation arcade game on these countercades like rampage, final fight, golden tee,, or something something other than pacman which for me is gotta be one of the most boring games you could play.
I grew up in the 90's. Oh and is the amount of buttons they can lay down a huge issue with these?
They have only shown one countercade design that had horizontal games and a wider control layout on it thus far. There are some rumored TMNT and NBA JAM countercades that are supposedly coming out later this fall

I agree with that, there is some odd overlap with the entire Arcade1Up catalog that makes some of their products negate the needs of their others.
True, but sometimes the countercades have exclusive games, like Galaga 88, and exclusive artwork, like the Dig Dug one, so that's why I still buy them.

Think it might be because they have given exclusive rights for several years to the partycade design to HSN/QVC - so can only make those for them but want to have a counter top model for other retailers to offer.
Great video! Nice for honest opinion. They need to added DigDug, Gyruss, or Mario, Donkey kong, or Sonic, Space Harris. Phoenix, Galaga 88 or Galaga 3.
Nintendo has repeatedly turned down working with Arcade1Up to let them release their games. No possibility of a Mario or Donkey Kong machine until that changes

My main complaint is the screen is much to small. Should be at least 12''.
I think 10” would be a nice screen size compromise. 12 might make the proportions of everything else seem off

Possibly, but their cost would be about $10 more for the larger screen. I think most people would be ok with that.
@@claudedesaulniers2300 - Probably less costly than that since the 8" seem to be fairly expensive as is ( 7" seems to be much cheaper per unit since so many more are made in that size )
Yeah, why is it Arcade 1Up keeps rolling out Pac-Man countercades? Like seriously, move on to other titles like a Joust/Defender or a Dragons Lair/Space Ace countercade already.

@@cooltoy I'm sorry. I guess what I meant to say is i would like to see more variety in the countrcades. And from other comments you've made, I see that is happening later this year. This new phase has some cool upgrades.
For god sakes when will they put out a Raiden cabinet, or Tapper, or Double Dragon, or even Rastan? It's like they want to pretend those games never existed.
They pitched a double dragon cabinet to retailers over a year ago and there wasn’t a whole lot of interest apparently. Couple that with the fact that iiRcade has already produced a double dragon themed cabinet and it seems like Arcade1Up isn’t really interested in pursuing the game any longer

Man that Pac-Man and Galaga combo certainly isn't very appealing. I haven't bought a countercade yet....looks like that trend will continue. Black Ms. Pac-Man 40 is not what i was expecting
Like I said, it’s a poor man’s version of the 20th anniversary cabinet. I’m still waiting on the leaked countercade releases that have the horizontal games on them before I bite on another countercade machine
