back at this old seaside town i live in we have this small bar and grill by the beach, and they had an original ms pac man machine you could play right next to the door
Got my Pac-Man gen4 countercade with the 5 games. At first I was going for the 3/4 but couldn’t find it in stock where I live. I decided to go for the countercade cause love for Pac-Man is timeless. Guess what? I freaking LOVE it!!! It’s bigger than I thought and looks really awesome on my desk!!! Totally recommend!!
Oh very cool! Personally I prefer the countercades as well though I haven't added to the collection JUST yet. Though to be fair a lot of my time is chewed up with the Steam Deck nowadays :p
I just bought the Pack Man 10 in 1 on clearance at QVC, I'm hoping its good because after seeing this version I wish I had gotten this one instead, but I'm sure it'll still be fun.
Oh nice! I still jump on it from time to time but I picked up Pac-Man Championship Edition for the Steam Deck recently and that's gotten more of my Pac-Man playtime :p
These are super cute. I've been thinking of putting away my Bartop Arcade MAME cause I don't use it has much and it takes up a lot of space in my small office game room. Maybe one of these would be a good alternative. I want one that is small but street fighter so there are more buttons so that I could hack it with a PI and make a smaller MAME cabinet.
Agreed! Plus I suppose if I wanted I could get ONE more and swap them out periodically on my desk. But that sounds like a dangerous rabbit hole to go down :p I've had good experiences with MAME cabinets before I just wanted something with a smaller form factor today.
@@YourPlayer2 Yeah I found that when I want to play an Arcade game I would just use the PI on my tv with my Xbox360 arcade stick.... saves so much space that way lol
Oof those buttons next to the joystick would kill it for me. I already slip onto the PS4 button from the analogue sticks when I'm trying to move them too furiously!
I love my Arcade 1up cabinet. I don't have a countertop yet but I rock my Street Fighter 2 (Wave 1) as much as I could. I say... I play it for an hour or so every other night since I got it... when it came out. I'm slowly building my collection but I'll get there. Awesome video, Buddy.
Thanks for the kind words, Dave! Hope your collection shapes up well and while I'm still only rocking this one, I can definitely see more in my future; Particularly if I can find a good way to display a row of them for play!
I own 19 of the stand-up cabs, 3 of the countercades and 1 Head-to-Head Cocktail cab and I can tell you that these things are absolutely awesome 👌. Keep in mind, buying just one of the stand-up cabs with 4 games is like having 4 of the original arcade cabinets in your own home. Sure there are some differences from the original cabs due to the low-cost price point but the spirit of the original cabs is well represented with the original artwork and controller form factors.
So I guess it's safe to say you're a fan :p I can't speak intelligently enough to the original cab, but it's encouraging to hear that it's pretty faithful despite a modern update to the form factor and all!
I got mine a month ago, and it's so much fun! I'm thinking of dropping one of those 60 in 1 jamma boards in it, as I love these 3 games, but I also love Donkey Kong 3
Looks great man! I've been meaning to grab an Arcade 1up machine for while and these countercades look pretty snazzy. I have a particular fondness for playing some Centipede myself so that's probably the first one I'd go for.
Appreciate it, man :) I've had larger style cabinets before but they take up too much space for my taste so this was just about perfect. To this day I still don't think I've played Centipede o_0
Centipede partycade(full screen table top version with 8 games) is on sale right now at HSN for $190 w/ free shipping. Yes the trackballs stink on this but you can get a pretty much plug and play quality replacement for around $20-$25 and you are good to go.
I just bought the Pac-Man Partycade, which is the full screen table top version with 8 games including Galaga, Dig Dug and Super Xevious, for $220 and free shipping. I thought that was a pretty good deal.
@Uniroyal Mish No....this is just the full screen table top cheapy version they are selling on HSN from Arcade 1up. It's not a full size $1100 unit and it doesn't have Rally-X
@Uniroyal Mish That's what they are calling these now. Partycades. It actually looks pretty cool. The gameplay looks great and I can upgrade the joystick and buttons easily and it's pretty inexpensive to do it.
Oh yeah that sounds great! I'd like to find a dedicated Galaga countercade for my folks sometime since they LOVE that game and played it when they were dating.
I purchased the 4 in 1 Pac Man partycade which allows for for counter play as well as hanging on wall or door and has a 17" monitor. I think for an extra $50 it's a better option however Ms Pac Man was not offered in this configuration. But, it does include the original Dig Dug which i absolutely love. Great review, hope you get some enjoyment out of it
If you like this you would love the 8 n 1 Partycade which can still sit on a counter or hang on the wall or be stashed away in a closet but has 8 games and the much larger 17 inch monitor. For only $50 more it's the way to go. I'm loving mine.
I have a Ms.Pacman countercade also and I love it. I love the fact that you kinda get Mr. Pacman also in Pacman Plus. I wish they included instead of Dig Dug 2 Pacman Jr. Just have the whole family together. Baby Pac is a pinball machine.
@@YourPlayer2 Yes in the cartoon and they actually made a small pinball arcade combination. I played it once you shoot the ball in a certain hole. The screen above shows a maze with baby Pac and you use a joystick to control him.
It's tough to find anyone who appreciates Dig Dug II! Look at the DS game Dig Dug: Digging Strike. It's a clever mix of playing Dig Dug on the bottom screen while simultaneously playing Dig Dug II on the top screen. While I didn't love it, it was a very neat way to make a DS sequel.
Dig dug 2 is very underrated. At least they got the buttons right on this, on the dig dug countercade they are split, making the game unplayable, So i modded it. later -1
Nice review! It looks awesome but this is not something I would purchase because I don't have the space to display it! It's one of the main reason why I want to find an easy way to use Mame on my Pc with a good front-end to get that arcade nostalgia going! Great video and keep up the good work!
Thanks dude! I don't think I'll go for a ton of these but if I had to pick one (which, uh, I guess I DID) it would be this one. Love the style and every game in the lineup! MAME is solid as well though :)
