"pac-man arrangement run through google translate" is literally the most accurate way to describe arrangement 2005. it's not even bad it's just weird as hell and i don't understand it's existence.
it feels like an entirely different game from arrangement arcade so why they share the name is honestly beyond me. the graphics and visuals feel so dull. the sound design is also extremely lifeless (any sound effect that isnt ripped from the original pac-man sounds like they downloaded it from a free stock sound effects website.)
though i will say, i never knew abt the existence of arrangement plus, and the added references to other namco games r actually quite cool.
I'm honestly surprised you stuck with doing a version versus and didn't split these two reviews up. The True Arrangement stays winning

This was a really great series to watch, I hope you eventually cover the Championship Edition games as well! I'd love to see a version versus for Championship Edition and the Championship Edition Famicom version.

This is definitely my favorite Pac-Man game, was ecstatic to know this review was coming. It does make me very curious about the several other "Arrangement" titles that never left Japan though. I know that Galaga and Dig-Dug Arrangement are in the 2002 Namco Museum as well, but that leaves Xevious, Rally-X, and Mappy Arrangement. I'd like to give those a shot someday. I wonder if they're as great as Pac-Man Arrangement.

the namco classic collection vol 2 did release in the west though
I finished watching this video, and I gotta say two things about it.
1. You were right about the newer style being a step up from the previous. I also love the line "Jack-Pac", I will wear that phrase to death.
2. I'm surprised it has so little recognition. I never expected this to be as underrated as it is.

Great game though, this and Galaga Arrangement were clearly Namco's magnum opus for their arcade titles, which isn't too surprising since the only other notable arcade game they made in a classic style to my recollection is Mr. Driller. Pretty much everything else after that is stuff made to capitalize on gimmicks as their main selling point like that 4 player Pac-Man Battle Royale or partnerships with stuff like the Mario Kart Arcade GP series. I have no idea why they decided to make Arrangement versions of some games to begin with, but i'm definitely not complaining...
crazy how namco made one of if not the best maze game in the series and rarely ever acknoweldges it when it'd work as a great replacement for ms. pac-man

@@ahbeef I also have to say that both Vol.1 and Vol.2 has VS mode being up to 4 players while co-op (2 players) is only on Vol.1, not that both versions have only co-op with one of them having a higher limit, in fact Vol. 2 only has VS mode making Vol. 1 superior. I came back to rewatch the 4 player footage for a mini sprite sheet I'm doing and noticed you said this.
Arrangement arcade version is easily my favorite Pac-Man game ever.
Love them both, the Gamecube version is pretty fuzzy but that's to be expected, and the PSP version off Pacman Museum is too small, but can be fixed with the appropriate TV screen stretch.
They BOTH are cool! They will be the inspiration for the next modernization of the original Pac-Man arcade game. What’s it called you may ask?

Not calling the remake Pac-Man Rearrangement is the biggest missed opportunity in gaming.
Oh wow I need to play Arrangement that game looks incredible, would you say that the Museum Plus has a fine port of it (Mame kinda intimidates me)? Also wow that PSP version is werid. I definitely agree with your analogy you said in the comments that it's more of a reimagining of the game like FF7 Remake, though calling it a sequel might not be a bad idea either.
museum+ is a perfectly fine way to play arcade arrangement! there's also a port on the ps2/gamecube/xbox namco museum and i emulated the gamecube version with numen playing over parsec for the multiplayer footage since i usually have trouble getting multiplayer to work in museum+ on PC. works fine on console though, i played through it in multiplayer on museum+ on switch at a friend's house just last week
Say what you will about the PSP game , but the pellet eating sound effect is so good

Some day, you should do reviews of the other Arrangement games like doing comparisons of Galaga and Dig Dug's Arrangements and their Arcade vs their PSP versions.
maybe someday, but probably not for a while. even the original arrangements of those other games don't really do a whole lot for me (and the psp versions even moreso)

also kinky (better known as kinzo) never had a confirmed gender so everybody just calls her whatever (usually they/them), she's referred to as "it" in the pacman website history section
i love this game but the powerups are a mixed bag the red ones great the pink ones good the blue ones fine but it always gets me killed trying to collect anything using the mirror pac and i always end up eating 2 power pellets at once wasting both of them and the orange one is kinda crap at best its just a worst version of the red one with it only working situationally while the other 3 are always useful in some way also i wish world 0 and world 1 swapped themes it just makes more sense these are the only problems i have with pac man arrangement its a great game

I read on the pacman wiki that theres a pc version of pacman world 1 that only released In Korea and might be a bootleg, i cant find anything on it anywhere else
@@tivvy2vs21 i vaguely remember looking into this before, and from what i found it's actually just running a PS1 emulator on pc. without any footage or dump of the game though, i can't say for certain.

different games of the same name qualify for the segment! just like Pac-Man World 2 on consoles vs GBA
@@ahbeef. I actually think both games are different games because of their designs, being completely different. Ex: the ghost designs, and they removed kinzo as well. And arrangement 2005 looks like those bland pac-man games like pac-man geo. Basically, it should have been called something like pac-man remix instead of arrangment.
What about the GBA port?
the gba port is essentially just the arcade game with a smaller resolution, worse music, and no multiplayer. despite the downgrades it’s still more than playable and i’ve enjoyed my fair share of runs on the gba version. i didn’t feel it necessary to include it in the comparison since it would distract from the main point of the video, comparing the arcade game and the psp game, and there’s not really much to say about the gba port anyway, i could sum it up in one or two sentences

theyre completely different games which just happen to have the same title
how are they not meant to be compared when they literally share the same name?
i do address this towards the end of the video, but ultimately it was namco's decision to give them the same name. i see Arrangement 05 as a sort of reimagining of the arcade game, which i think is fair enough grounds for comparison, the same way FF7 Remake is a fair comparison to the PS1 game despite how hugely different they are mechanically
