Pac Man arrangement was always my favourite. Especially because all the ghosts have a special ability (like teleporting, placing new dots or duplicating) and in the end there is a big boss battle

Pac-In-Time actually did actually get released in the US, they just seem to be using the Japanese version because the US one references Ms. Pac-Man.
Pac in time was actually released worldwide instead of USA, Japan, and Europe releases.

Oh I found it, legal right dispute. Shame, that stopped Pacman 2 from being in this collection as well.
The Japanese one has Ms. Pac as well but they edited her to be Pac-Mom.
I think they did this version because its harder than the international version.
Too bad they didn't have like the Pac Man World games or at least 1 of them, that would have given this a lot of variety. Glad to see 256 and Battle Royale on here though, those are great additions. BTW it's on Game Pass for anyone not in the know.
Guess we'll just have to hope for a Pac-Man World Trilogy collection sometime down the line.

Pac-Man 256 is superior on console because you can unlock all the power ups faster and all the themes are free!

Pac-Mania a D? Oof it’s probably my favorite one. Great graphics and music, the jump was needed and it can be satisfying missing a certain death with some fancy and lucky jumping.

Yes! Yeeeeessssss! I need that collection remade! PMW3 was my freaking childhood! Went through it over 30 times. I had way too much free time back then, thank you childhood. 🤣 Got the collection back about 7 years ago and still haven't beat it 100% Never did 100% on that game once.

This game collection is amazing! My favorite here would have to be Pac-Man 256. In fact, I had this video playing in the background as I played through it lol
I was very upset a couple years ago when they delisted the original Pac-Man Museum. That was the only way to play Pac-Man Battle Royale & I had just found out about it, and boom, delisted. Very glad they brought this back.
Ms Pac Man for Sega Genesis was my favorite of all the Pac Man and affiliate games.
That was a very good one. So many mazes and modes.
Great overview John. Pac-man 256 and Champion Edition might be my favorites from this collection. And I have to say, it is stunning how well OG Pac-Man holds up as a game today. So well-designed.
Like others have said, it would have been nice if this had included some of the Bally games. Jr. Pac-Man is a long-time favorite of mine. And I do think Champion Edition DX and Ms. Pac-Man are each a notch better than their immediate predecessors. But I do enjoy this collection for what it offers.
Why isn't Championship DX in this collection?!? That's the most baffling omission. They have two versions of Arrangement so no excuse there. This now means this game is unavailable on Switch. There is already a mobile port of this game on Android, so half (probably more than half) the work was already done.
Sadly, anything Ms. Pac-Man is going to be rarer and rarer as we go forward. :(
CE DX is perfect
PacMan motos was a pac man themed update of an old arcade game from the 80s (called unsurprisingly Motos) - it was a top down 2D game with similar mechanics (bump your opponents off the playfield) - a hidden gem (albeit one that has appeared in a lot of Namco collections over the years).
I've never been a huge Pac-Fan, but Super Pac-Man is probably my favorite; I love being able to EAT THE MAZE. I did also have a lot of fun with Pac-Man Championship Edition 2.
I hooked up my fight/arcade stick for this and it's pretty fun. I like how there are objectives to strive for in order to unlock other content. It adds a fresh new layer to the games. Game Pass really came through on this and Sniper Elite 5 recently.
Arrangement arcade is amazing. A C for that is so off. I mean, I agree it's Pac Man 2. How is that not an endorsement? The console version is slow and punched in an just... worse. Not the same at all. Pac in Time is a much worse version of Fury of the Furries, but I don't know if bad FotF is an F. The only reason Pac Man CE could be lower than an S is if they had added CE DX+. Since they didn't, CE is by default the best game in this bundle. But yeah, go get CE DX and maybe CE2 from Steam along with this, it feels incomplete without them. Oh, and 256 is the second best game here, maybe tied with Arrange and should have been an A.

While the OG PacMan is my all time favorite, I really dig Pac Mania. I think I like it because it's challenging. Great review, man!!

It's important to note that Pac Land is probably the first side scrolling platformer! Before Super Mario Bros by a year.

I'm so glad this includes Pac n Roll Remix! I played the original Pac n Roll on the DS and Remix on the Wii back in the day and I definitely have a soft spot for it. And of course Pac-Man Arrangement is an old favorite of mine too. I'm also glad 256 was included because I'd never played it before and I ended up liking it a lot. Decorating the arcade is a lot of fun but I wish there was more than one floor choice d:
I love pacman arrangement for gba such a good game imo surprised it didn’t hit for you bc when I first played it I was blown away with how much it felt like a true sequel. Also not sure but I felt like pacmania felt slower than usual with this emulation but could be wrong. Good vid!

Arrangement is a great game, I loved it on the GBA, about pacmania, the game starts slow but gets crazy fast with the stages, sadly once you die and start over it feels like moving on molasses

I would have been sold on this if they had bought the rights to Ms. Pac-Man and Pac-Man Jr. Also the version of Pac&Pal I played at the local arcade BITD was Pac-Man & Chomp Chomp, featuring his pet dog from the cartoon.
3:08 Sorry to break this news but that not Ms.Pac-Man not any more as Namco is replacing her with Pac-Mom after the Namco-AtGames Ms.Pac-Man rights lawsuit this is maybe why we're never going to get a DLC of Ms.Pac-Man on the Pac-Man Museum+

Having a lot of fun with this and really enjoying ALL the games. You still can’t beat the original but there is fun to be had with all of them. I love Pacman Championship Edition as it has the base mechanics and those combos are very satisfying. Battle Royale is awesome with 4 people around. Pac-Man 256 didn’t do much for me on devices with the whole swiping business. I overlooked it but it is actually awesome and a really present surprise. Add 4 players to the mix and wow - great game and glad they included it. Motos and the roll are also really fun. I even like Pac-Man in Time which is Fury of the Furries from the Amiga days. I did end up getting stuck in the end which was when the frustration you mentioned kicked in. I may end up agreeing with you with more play but it is fun zipping around on the grappling hook thing. The difficult bit is trying to jump up levels with it. Motos and the roll game are also better than I expected and fun to play. Arrangement is good but takes time to learn so it isn’t as pick up and play. I used to like Pacmania because you couldn’t get trapped but it does seem to run very slow. I am not sure if it was always like that or once you go back to it after the manic Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 it just seems that way. Pac-Mania is maybe a fun game that hasn’t aged as well as the others. I am with you and like Super Pac-Man and Pac N Pal is really good too but like Arrangement isn’t as accessible and takes some practice. Playing around with the arcade is also good fun. Yes, just wish it Ms Pac-Man and Jr. Pacman but if those aren’t possible, this is close to perfect and an essential purchase for any Pacman fan. Good video and interesting thoughts on each game.

Bruv, that hat is absolutely flaming FANTASTIC! Seriously top notch gear, mate! Pac-Land was one of the 6 games I had for the Atari Lynx back in the day, and I definitely found it difficult, but for some reason the challenge really grabbed my attention and I had to see it through!
In Super Pac-Man, I always thought green pellet=giant Pac-Man and only recently learned it was supposed to represent him flying closer to the "camera", so he's flying over the gates and ghosts
I’m enjoying this collection. I think being able to rotate the display would be nice (tate mode) and hopefully there is dlc because pac man world and PacMan CE DX should be in here
With Pacmania, I think the "issue" that we have is that it's traditional PacMan style but you can't see the whole level. Just feels like something is missing during gameplay.
I really enjoy your videos and appreciate you making them. I am actually old enough as well to remember when Pac-Man came out and I instantly fell in love.
I am glad you mentioned the controls on this video because I really wish there was a way to have a regular Atari style joystick with the Switch. I feel old when I say that to people but to me there’s nothing like that feel in an arcade cabinet. Or at least a way to customize the controls on the Switch. I love Pac-Man 99 and I was so very very happy when I realized I could make changes to the controls and be able to use the right joycon joystick to play the game; it makes such a difference to me. I love love Super Pac-Man and not being able to make the same kind of change to the controls when playing on this Switch version really frustrates me. I do love this release overall and I hope more games can be added/bought later or there’s a sequel.

Pacmania gets fast. It’s the most sequel to the original for me with the jumping. The only flaw is that when it gets fast, Pac-Man spends so long in the air it’s hard to judge when you might land. But it’s a very pure and meaningful iteration of the core formula. I give it an S - I can’t get enough of it.
Fun fact, A Pac in Time is a port of Fury of the Furries on Amiga. Not an angry mob of teenagers at a convention who can’t get wifi on their phones.
I’d like to see a Pac-Man World trilogy collection on modern consoles, including Nintendo Switch. Though they would have to alter the models for Ms Pac-Man to replace her with “Pac-Mom”.

4 of these pacman games I used to play these on my Gameboy Advance SP when I was a child and to see them here in this collection makes me happy, im definitely gonna pick this up 💖👍

Pac-Land (Arcade, not console versions) is by far my favorite.. never cared to much for the maze pacmans, except I do like Pacmania cuz it's a little different. Pac-Attack is cool. It's a clone of Cosmo Gang The Puzzle arcade game.

I do not approve of the Pacman Arrangement slander here... skimming over the 5th ghost and his gimmicks is a massive shame because he alone is a game changer and adds so much more strategy to the gameplay
Yeah, the game got the shaft in this video. Giving it the same rating as the shiny but lackluster PSP version confuses me.
Pac-Man Arrangement: Console Version was my favorite, closely followed by Pac-Man 256! I think this collection is quite the mixed bag in terms of its content, and severe lack of options for customizing the games, but the games that are good are very good, and so it was worth my time.

I'd say the biggest problem with this collection is having to spend the coins to play about half of the games. I don't mind spending the coins on the stores to buy the little trinkets, and I get replicating the arcade experience, but it just gets in the way.
You start with 500 coins and you earn essentially any coins you spend on a game right back just by playing it. It's fine!
Best way to coin mine is to play Pac Man 256 for any length of time. You'll get tons without a lot of effort.

I feel so shamed of myself lol. I was an 80's kid and I had no idea whatsoever there were THIS many different pacman games. I knew there were a handful, but I only knew about a half dozen or so at best, apparently lol. Some of these are the stinkers I knew but some of them look really good. My overall favorite version I knew about and always liked was the Super Nintendo version of Mr's Pac man, however I do really like the "new" (to those of us who grew up w/ pac man / mrs pac man on Atari 2600, everything after to us is "new" lol) is the championship edition. I too played a lot on ps3 and now it's on my ps4 also. Still rocking emulation version of super nes mrs. pacman when I really feeling like playing, the new version there is pretty fun with the bright cool colors that would have knocked our socks off back in the 80's if we could have seen that coming, us 80's kids would have been right beside ourselves, let me tell ya lol. Loads of cool looking editions in there, I never knew about.
"Arrangement" "pac modos" "pac and roll" "battle royale" and "256" especially, really interest me. Those are all great looking pac man games.

Agree %100 about Pac-Man Battle Royale. I bought this collection specifically for Battle Royale, as it was always my favorite game to play with friends and strangers alike at QuarterWorld in Portland, OR. I would probably spend another $20+ on a fully fleshed out remake or remaster of it with online support, bot support, new mazes, etc.

You used the stylus like a trackball, and I personally find it way more responsive that way.

The only Pac-man I had growing up was pacmania on the c16plus4, it looked just like the original pac-man only it was hard as nails, i'd be lucky to get past about 4 levels. It had these H blocks, which stood for hyper jump which transported you to a different part of the screen, which sometimes you could land right in front of a ghost, which by the way moved faster than pac-man.
Was never big into Pac Man, but Championship Edition (don't remember if original or DX) was the only PS3 game I got all the trophies for.

PAC Motos is based on the arcade game Motos. Used to love the zx spectrum port of Motos back in the day if you've not played the arcade you should check it out.
I second the recommendation. The original is a lot harder than Pac-Motos.
9:01 That's because it IS a DS game! Pac N Roll Remix is an abridged remake/remaster of Pac N Roll (in similar vein to Spring Breeze from Kirby Super Star), which originally released on the DS with trackball controls.

Fun fact: Pac Motos is essentially a reskon of an older game by namco called Motos, that's where the sort of "bumper car" gameplays comes from!

After playing this I realized that I love Pac and Pal (though it would be even better if the cards were randomized). And especially I love the little green monster friend Miru... I'd love to get a plush toy of her!

I learned about this collection a few days ago. Busy with another game right now but I intend to grab it on Steam before the "Month 1 Edition" disappears. Not because I have any real interest in any of the titles in the collection, but more because Pac-Man is a (small) part of my arcade-going childhood and, just like with Sol Cresta, I sort of owe it to the creators to support them when they drag out old properties for us like this.
That said, I held the worldwide top scores in Pac-Man CE DX (across all platforms) back when it was current, so my interest in Pac-Man software isn't strictly skin deep. This collection includes the prequel to said game, Pac-Man CE, which I also played but didn't enjoy nearly as much because its gameplay mechanics were too brutal and unforgiving. With CE DX, they found the perfect balance, and it remains the very best Pac-Man game ever conceived. They squandered this balance with CE DX 2, making a major component of the gameplay far too random to recapture the magic of its predecessor.
If this collection maintains high score tables for any of its titles, I've already learned not to place any faith whatsoever in Namco-Bandai when it comes to sniping cheaters and hackers. They do not care. No matter how easy it would be to prevent it. Hackers will hack and Namco will totally ignore it. It's a shame.

@@darkridearts Yah I do keep an eye out for a hypothetical CE2 DX, but I think they sort of shot themselves in the foot. They made each successive game more casual, but CE2 was just too casual and missed the point. So I bet sales weren't super duper for that one. It's an even bigger shame because as far as the soundtracks went, well those just kept getting better and better and CE2 has the best of them all. I'd love to hear more from that composer.
I did pick up Pac-Man Museum+ and give it a brief spin. My verdict: It's most likely emulating the games (or at least Pac-Man, since that's the one I checked out), which is good, because it means the little challenges they set up are actually legit. Unfortunately, the sound is not being emulated. Instead, everything you hear is pre-recorded digital samples being played at appropriate moments. The reason I was able to determine this is because the result is very off. Maybe even less faithful than the similar effort on the Nintendo DS. The siren sound and power-up sound are both looped samples and you can actually hear where they loop. MAME has gotten this right for 25 years so it's kinda something I can't really forgive Namco for.
It's on game pass if you are looking to play it. Xbox dpad works great.
Pac Man Championship is S tier in my book. Bummed they didn’t include the 8-bit demake that was created for one of the other zillion collections Namco put out.
Probably small chance that they would later put it in for DLC. They wouldn't really have an excuse to put it in and even if they did, it would look out of place put next to the original (not the demake).

My 8-year-old is absolutely in love with this, and we play Pacman 256 and Battle Royale together when I'm free to do so.
I mainly got it for Championship Edition. It gets so intense as it gets faster. So fun.
Also am liking 256 for its relaxed pace.
Too bad there’s no Ms Pac-Man but there’s a licensing reason for why it’s not included.

Pac-Man made an appearance in an arcade game called kick Man. they should have included that except the game used a trackball. you can still play it with a joystick though.
I wish Pac-Man adventure from sega genesis made it on here. That was one of my favorite games of all time. Being able to shoot stuff with the slingshot was a lot of fun back in the day

It's a great collection, but I'm kinda disappointed you can't edit the games' (like previous collections, and in Arcade Archives) like the lives/difficulty, and such. (Except in Pac-Man Arrangement Console version.) Or if you can I don't know how.
I'd honestly recommend getting the Arcade Archives version of "Pac-Land" as it actually has the stage select option.

I’ve been a gamer since the original Pac-Man. I almost have to buy this just to keep my identity as a gamer. I have multiple ways of playing most of these but it’s nice to have them all in one.
