- People Can Fly have taken the over-the-top powertrip fantasy known as Outriders, and released their first DLC - Worldslayer. Is it worth the purchase, and have they done enough to improve on the base game?
Outriders is a third-person shooter mixed with elements from role-playing games. In the beginning of the game, players create their custom characters and choose from four classes, each of them with unique abilities that the players can use. The four classes include the Trickster, which has the ability to manipulate time, the Pyromancer, which can manipulate fire, the Devastator, which can unleash seismic attacks, and the Technomancer, which uses turrets and other devices. These special skills have a short cooldown time and can be combined with other skills for maximum effects. The game features a skill tree that allows players to unlock and upgrade their skills.
Players can use different weapons such as shotguns and assault rifles to defeat enemies, and firearms can be customized with weapon mods. Players can hide behind cover to shield themselves from enemy attacks, though health will only regenerate if the player manages to hurt or kill enemies. Players combat both monsters and human enemies. As the player progresses, the world level (the game's equivalent to gameplay difficulty) will increase. If the world level is high, it is more likely for the player to get high-end loot from defeated enemies. Players can equip armors that offer protection against incoming damage, with each class having their own unique armor sets to collect.
The game incorporates various role-playing elements. As the players explore, they can explore different hub areas, talk to non-playable characters and complete side missions. In cutscenes a dialogue tree allows to decide the outcome of some conversations, though it does not affect the story's progression. The game can be played solo, but players can also complete the game together with two other players.

they probably went P2P because it's a new IP and Square/PCF didn't want to spend a bunch of money on servers just for the game to flop. With P2P instead of dedicated it also means people won't have to worry about servers shutting down.
Totally agree with what you said there! I ended up with my trickster crossing into the new campaign first and man am I excited about some of those possible builds! I'll definitely be tuning in tomorrow to see how I can build up my techno next 😂

Great video man! I'm a noob to Outriders (got bored with D2) but I'm loving this so far. I'm still in the vanilla game and haven't completed the campaign yet but I'm really looking forward to everything, including World Slayer, and I appreciate your honest review. Fortunately no connection issues yet, as I've been playing with my nephew.
I have a couple of quick questions: should I buy the DLC now to get the new mods and what not, or is all of that irrelevant until I beat the game first? Secondly, do you have any advice on a good mid-game build for Techno (at level 21), or am I not really there yet? (I don't have any legendary armor yet and just got my first legendary gun last night. Since I'm playing with someone else, should I spec into the top or middle tree. Honestly, I'm really enjoying the middle tree so far and the mini gun shreds!! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! I've beaten outriders before on the PS4 during summer of last year and I JUST beat the game again today.
I got an Xbox Series S and so I wanted to know, is it worth it to upgrade and pay for the dlc even though I've already paid for the game on one console; and have it for free on the Xbox Game Pass.
IS IT WORTH IT?
YESS!!!!!
I GOT THE WORLDSLAYERS EXPANSION AND THE NEW PLAYTHROUGH WAS AMAZING 👏 A lot of issues I had on the original playthrough on PS4 were completely removed for me (at least the major quest errors I noticed the first time around).
I got to enjoy the new perks and the cool new 3 slot epic gear before I even got a legendary to drop for me (aside from ones earned in quests).
I loved the first campaign on this go around evem more than the first time and I'm having a blast starting the new campaign!
I got ascension tiers in the first campaign because I did all of the available side quests and hit level 30 a few hours before I beat the game. It carries over into the end game and new Worldslayer campaign.
This was really cool! I thought that it was nice to have valuable progress carry over into the endgame content.
Last thing, you will not be able to access the new PAX skill tree until after you beat the game and start the new campaign. I recommend to go to the new campaign and beat it before doing expeditions. 👌 reason is the new endgame is what it's all about.
APOCALYPSE GEAR IS THE BEST AND ITS AMAZING 👏 ROLLING IS ALSO NICE WITH SOLID-ish rates.
The GRIND is freaking real.
You'll be thankfully your APOCALYPSE tier carries over 💯
I've pre-ordered and I'm glad I did. I look forward to jumping in tomorrow after work. A minor note here, I always assume honesty. When I read it in the title or screenshot of the video then I start to think "was there lying before this video".
I found that some mission’s don’t complete properly as sometimes as the next areas didn’t show up or you had to run back to the convoy to proceed to the new location’s,

Im having so much difficulty understanding the games level progression. So CT is gone and now AT is the main thing, on what AT expedition levels will give a good rate of legendaries? Im having so much trouble coming a cross 1 or 2 for days of gameplay. I know im missing something but of-course have no idea. I’ve been farming ugakes cowl for weeks between AT 5-8 and no luck. I know you cant really target stuff in this game so idk

i do hope they made more balance in weapon vs 'magic' users, specialy devastator weapon based falls behind so massive. And no, those weapon buffs i consider 'magic', since they change the damage type.
Balance changes were discussed in length in a Dev post.
Do you any additional info on the twitch drops? I know in the last trailer/promo vid they said they would be having them, but also said they'd give us more info on how to get them. Usually as i'm sure you're aware there is some kind of account linking that needs to take place, but i haven't heard anything with regards to this since they advertised it

I am so jealous that your shots were all precise. I have the same weapon and basically the same build. But I'm playing on ps4 and my aiming reticule is all over the place. Maybe its your settings. Maybe its that consoles don't get love. Can you please share your settings in a future video so we can try them? Or give us tips for console settings if they would vary from pc. Thanks in advance!
I'm glad I came back to this game I also played day one and stopped after I got to level 30 lol, so now I'm just glad I came back and already really liking the new stuff.
completely agree on anomaly extract. It took me several days only to level my gear from apo10 to apo11. It seems to get a little better after 12 or so but you will leave a lot of gear behind on the way up, simply because you do not have the resources to level them I am sitting on a ton of titanium and drop pod res which I can not use because I am always short of AE. This seems to be an artificial way to slow progress, especially in the lower tiers. And that is when everything becomes a chore instead of enjoyable gameplay.

What is your opinion about firepower vs anomaly power builds now with Worldslayer? Because apparently the meta has changed but after seeing this video, well that Technomancer looks pretty strong in the gameplay. Borealis set is still powerful in the expansion or not?
I use the Borealis armor set with my Technomancer and it is still powerful

How are they "still working" on the lockable items. I don't see how this has become such a difficult task for them, or even build swapping for that matter. I have probably salvaged the same gear over and over due to forgetting even though I transmogged it lol.

Skill Up said Solo is impossible and required a team as he got swamped, yet others say it's hard, but doable? One 3xTeam also finished the whole new campaign in 2 hours.
As long as Solo is an option, no matter the grind, I'll be happy. Nothing else quite like this out there. Cheers PCF.
Saw his review, and the info he received is inaccurate. I solo'd every piece of the DLC, and it scales upwards when you enter a party.
Skill up can be hit or miss, he probably tried putting random pieces of gear together at the highest difficulty without any concern for synergies and upgrades in his setup, if anything solo is much better compared to group play since connectivity issues can be a problem due to p2p servers. I’ve played this whole game solo and I started playing since last month, solo is fine
@@HereForTheCupcakes this happens in a lot of games it’s ridiculous. Pick up a gun or gear try it at endgame difficulty & if it doesn’t wreck it MUST be trash…does your build support that gun/gear? Does it offer any synergy with what you’re doing? These things matter! Then they go on Reddit & complain…& get agreed with by others that are jus as dumb. It’s perfectly splendid.
keep in mind, Skill Up was the guy that said The Division's Dark Zone was too hard and that hip-fire was an unfair advantage for players that used it versus players that stood still ADSing directly in front of opponents.

I'm new to the game, but solo does seem punishing compared to group play with every enemy focusing you and no revives.
Is there a leader boards feature coming to the game? Be interesting to know how each build compares to other people's

When you said no saves during the Trials of Taryah Gratar, are you referring to 'No Checkpoints" In mission?
Sort of like Legendary difficulty in Division 2?
Just so I have a clearer understanding.
If you die, you reset to the common chambers and can retry that specific area. After 3 deaths, game over.
So it's like expeditions.
@@dirkz.duggitz1567 Ehh, depends on how you see it. Solo expeditions, you had to restart the whole thing if you died, with each one having what... 3 chambers/arenas? Approximately? Here if you run out of lives at least you keep the loot of each chamber you've cleared before, which kinda had to happen if the whole thing is 60 minutes long.

I hope grinding expeditions is still worth it for more than just a tiny amount of one new resource. I like options.
I mean yeah you will need to regrind all your gear so I have no doubt it will be worth it.

Don't forget. With the original launch of Outriders, there was an issue with the Direct X drivers so they added the ability to use Direct X 11 or 12 on Steam. From a stability standpoint, I have not had many issues on my end. Some of my friends on PS4 and PS5 had occasional connection issues. Seems like I remember you having a similar issue with the original game launch as I did with the GPU. It would only use 33% of the GPU memory for the first few weeks. I am away from my computer for the weekend or I would give you my configuration for comparison. I can tell you your rig is higher-end than mine based on your GPU and CPU stats. I only say the that to point out that the game performed wonderfully on my rig on Monday's early release, especially after 6pm CST when Steam completed some maintenance.
In the reveal for Worldslayer the narrator said something to the effect of "original classes" I took this as a tease that we may get one or two new classes before the game sees the end of its life cycle. I think that if this expansion sells well then we will probably get new classes in 6 months or so.
That said, I am still holding out a tiny glimer of hope that there is in fact a new class with Worldslayer but all the reviewers are under NDA so they have to pretend like there is no new class.

They are tight lipped about a lot of stuff. But there's implications in what theyve given us on a few things. I think it isn't off the table. It may be future planned. Never know.
To make a new class would require making new gear for them and new perks for gear and guns and making sure the balance is right between all the other classes. Sounds like too much work for the developers and for the players to start a whole new character and build them up, I don’t think there’s any chance of a new class ever
@@thefury4424 I honestly don't think that would be a huge problem for them. Its also highly requested. Since they had to say that they wanted people to focus on the current classes for now. They know people want a new class. That means a lot of people wouldnt have an issue building a new class. I think they might implement it in the future, but it may not be at the moment. As they seem to know people want a new class. It's just not their focus right now. But I'm Pretty sure they haven't discarded the idea. As they've never said they would not create a new class. They did say they want people to focus on their current classes. But thats not a " this is off the table" comment. PCF is very tight lipped on things if there's a possibility. If something is less likely to happen they do have a tendency to say that may not happen.
For new player would it be worth getting Outriders taking into account that Worldslayer Edition is €45 now and Standard edition €22?
Or should I just try Remnant from the ashes for free from PS Extra?

Wow that campaign for World Slayer is short. I finished it in 2 hours including all the cut scenes. Lots of fun though. The endgame is good and gets more challenging as you level up. Searching for the perfect build will take a lot of experimentation and a lot of time.
Are they going to buff pyromancer in this dlc ??that might get me back into it but for now no
I loved this game. It was so fun, I dumped at least a 100 hours into it. But the multiplayer connection killed it for me. Playing by myself felt empty at times, and the continuous disconnection ruined the experience. I loved the chaos, and the look, and they brought something new to a looter shooter genre, but getting kicked almost every match was just a little too much. I'll come back, but they gotta do something about the connection issue.

Yep nothing like soloing one of the paid expeditions just to get done in by a disconnect... There's been a few times where I have 3 mobs left just to get the boot
Same here I appreciate the game because it was fresh and new but no dedicated servers killed it for me. I am still on the fence of getting world slayer.
@@incitechange Well I'm giving it another try. The gave us an upgraded dlc...so why not? Nothing to risk but some free time. Besides, I kinda miss the chaos. And the grind wasn't that bad.

Don't mind the dlc. My only gripe is i would like to retain 1 if every legendary or artefact item but space does not permit that. Wish stash was larger
Question I heard gear has 3 mods slots now is that new gear only or will our old gear have it as well
Don't expect to log in and suddenly your gear randomly gets a 3rd slot. You'll have to farm stuff again, but Apoc gear will drop from everywhere, not just the new areas.

I mean I couldn't complain. Before the dlc dropped, I was getting anywhere between 1-3 leggos per expo. I have 3 characters decked out that can solo easily. Game is a lot of fun and it's great to tinker with your builds

I'm disappointed in the very linear campaign extension, with no real character-building, and no ability to travel back to parts of the DLC once completed.
I was trying to pick up a journal page when I was moved on, now I don't know how I'll get it.
The 3rd mod in Apocalypse gear seems good... until yiu realise your gamble-a-thon just got multiplied exponentially: it's even harder now to get a drop with attributes + 2 mods you can use.
I'm having some fun with it overall, but not sure how long it will last.

The only bad things I've experienced so far was the length of the campaign was about $40 short, the ungodly stuttering during cut scenes, and NOT SCALING THE ENDGAME. That is just a big fail, and I've already told a few of my friends not to touch this until they scale it. For a game that has piss poor peer to peer support, this was surely not the way to go. This is why games like ESO excel. (The horrible cut scene experience was on a Series X). Overall the game isn't bad if you're patient during the endgame. I just feel as soon as people hit the endgame, they're just gonna bail. I can't blame them.
I think I'm gonna wait a month after that crazy launch and all the bugs that had us all crying

Looks good but not like another $40 good. Everything seems to be drifting in the right direction for Outriders but we are just now getting to the point it feels like we should have been at a year ago
I can respect that explanation.
Not much you can do when Square Enix hasn't given PCF a dime for all their hard work. Not to mention people of the looter shooter community never gave the game a chance from day 1 so obviously they need to make their money somewhere. If the looter shooter community had actually embraced the game instead of instantly dropping it then the expansion probably wouldn't have been as expensive and would definitely have had more content overall.

The campaign is really difficult I ran through it with no issues until I got to "the fisherman" we did not take alot of damage and the smaller and maybe 2 elites with him were op. The thing I see here is a continuation of OP enemies with stupid yellow protective barriers while being able to still do damage against you...in my opinion the campaign should always give you the opportunity to play thr game with minimum difficulties and focus the higher challenges for the end game...none of the less donot pay for this DLC I preorder and used my get out of jail free card to get my refund from playstation
I never struggled in the game ever. Never even changed my old Basegame endgame build before getting all the way to Tarya Gratar.
Did they remove the cap of 999 999 for resources?
As a solo player, will the matchmaking be enough to have fun in the grouping endgame?
From what I can tell, you really don't have to group at all in the endgame, if you don't want to. If you've been clearing solo 13s, 14s and 15s, you should also be able to clear Trials. And yeah, I know people that grouped up solely through matchmaking and had no issues, with the exception of the occasional crap PUG or a zero-DPS player here and there. Most people don't run with dedicated groups.

Loved the base game, played it to death, was excited over the potential this game has, but there is no way I'm paying another £50+ pounds for dlc.
Purely on principal.
Yeah that was the problem I had with the original game the original campaign the main villain did not have enough play time with the player. Like when you look at games like let's say Destiny with the taken King look how many times you encounter him and then look how many times in a campaign you fought him and then it led up to a raid that was true story that's how you properly do a story for any genre if it's a video game or if it's a book. All Riders is a great game but they just want to end things with villains way too quickly
Yeah definitely the trials does remind me of chaos Chambers from time Tina Wonderland is the same thing horde mode where you have constant levels and it gets harder every time you choose different modifiers. However the big difference is the harder the modifiers you have and the higher Chaos level you are the better loot you get. So I hope that's the same thing with World Slayer risk versus reward the harder the content is the deeper you go into it the better rewards you get and I don't mean like purples or Blues I mean constant f****** legendaries that's how it should be risk versus reward

I simply disagree with all the people taking issue with the storyline. The story felt very engaging and I found myself connected to many of the characters. Story has never been a strong point in ANY looter shooter but outriders has the most intensive story i've seen in the genre.

Its cool, but I love to play multiplayer. The freezing and all made me get my refund back. The movement is still stiff like playing the division 2. I'll stick with the gameplay of destiny 2. Maybe when im bored, i'll just get it just for the story and then stop playing again. Great vid.
Yes stories worth it but long-term wise It's not going to keep players engaged in the content. This expansion should have been designed to get back players but to have a long-term plan to continue this game. Yes this game is not a live service but people can fly constantly said over a year ago that they want to treat this game like a live service game but they do not want to use the label live service. Remember back then they told us that the expansions and DLCs were supposed to be f****** free! Seems like to me people can fly only cares about the money because of what happened with the inventory wipe World Slayer should have been f****** free it should have been used as an apology of saying that hey we're sorry but we f***** up
I spent the $40 for the upgrade. After a few days with it, it’s maybe worth it. The update should’ve been free due to all the headaches from the original game.
That was a very rough launch. I was there and remember it vividly.

Well, I already pre-ordered so good or bad I'm committed lol. But I do love this fledgling new franchise and we've seen with New Horizons that will it might take time, PCF will update things when necessary.
