Billie obviously loves you lots. Gotta love those little kicking threats... they're adorable.
Hi, Vanessa! I know, right? haha I'm a lucky guy! :)
Tom - "I won't waste your time with the rest of these rehouses"
me - 😥
Sorry, Tana! Sometimes when I shoot these videos, I feel like they go on for too long!
@@TomsBigSpiders 💕
Nice Father’s Day present!
And I have an Opinel #8 for about 30 years. Once of my favorite knives- super easy to sharpen and it gets laser sharp!
It was, indeed, Joshua! And I love mine!
When you said "We need a bigger house, cos i deed a bigger tarantula room" i heard your wife sighted! That was funny!!
Hahahaha I'd been saying it for a while. The funny part is, we ARE actually moving into a new house with a huge tarantula room. haha
Tom; I just wanted to say that you were a HUGE influence in me deciding to enter the hobby. I got a Tliltocatl Albopilosum and a Nhandu Coloratovillosus as my first two Tarantulas. Thank you so much for the care and husbandry videos that you have done on these as they were instrumental in me deciding which to start with. I desperately wanted more than one, but I also know that I am not yet ready to bite off more than I can chew. I'm a retired military in my 50's, so I'm a bit more in a position to self analyze my abilities and strengths. Thank you again for all that you have taught me so far. Take care and, as always, Semper Fi.
First off, I'm SO SORRY for the delay in replying! And thank you so very much for the kind words. That truly means a lot! Watch out...before you know it two spiders will turn into 200. hahaha Again, thank you!
What beautiful slings. I cannot imagine how beautiful they will be as adults.
Thank you, Joyce! They should be quite stunning. And, at the rate they are growing, it shouldn't be long! :) I hope that you and yours are well!
awesome little guys. I love how they put their but in the air when you annoy them.
Yes! It's so adorable! Thank you, Kim!
Much love from newfoundland!!! We unboxed our Theraphosa blondie today!!! YAY!!!! Tarantulas for everyone!!!
Hello, Sigma! Congrats...I love that species! :)
Heheh, she is really poppin' that booteh! I am surprised how nicely she strolled out.
I like getting them small and raising them. I find it more worthwhile seeing how their behaviours evolve.
Ha, Roy...she sure is! And me, too!
I feel the same way. I love raising them up.
LOL @4:30 when B ( billie?) sighed when you said you needed a bigger house LOL ooph nailed it. Congrats on your new spider room Tom :D
Hey, Bryan! Bahahaha! I completely forgot about that until I went to put the video up yesterday. We actually started talking about it after this box came in. I told her that I have no more room for large tarantulas, so the countdown was on. Thanks so much! I'm VERY excited to get them all situated and to start filming in there!
Hey Tom...Say Xenesthis. XD Love the new additions. I just got my first Xenesthis this summer during the mystery box event and I was very lucky to get it. Loving this genus and definitely see myself getting more in the future. That X. sp. bright is already brilliant as a sling. Wow! Can't wait to see updates. Billie is awesome!
Alex! First off, I hope that all is well with you and the family! Hahahaha. Congrats on yours, bud! Yeah, I got my first and Billie was apparently listening to me gush about it. Of course, now we're getting a new house because I really DO need a larger tarantula room now. lol And she really is amazing. Thank so much!
I'm still new to the hobby but these ones immediately caught my eye. Can't wait unto the day when I can get these myself. Gorgeous little spoods.
Hi, Brian! They are such gorgeous spiders. They've won me over! haha
Great video Tom and wtg to your bride for your gift. Y'all are awesome 👊🤘🕷
Thank you, Tommy! I hit the jackpot with her. :)
Hoping your new house is just what you need.
Thanks, Joyce! We are all VERY excited about it!
Congratulations on all you new beautiful T’s Senpai. Wonderful gifts from Billie. 🥰
Thank you so much! It sure was!
Xenesthis genus for the win, grats Tom !
Ha! Thanks, Bill!
well I was watching every time he said something about their lags I was like lags for days xD
Lags for days, indeed. haha
Xenesthis species are really something, really awesome.
Look forward to future updates 🔭🎬📽
Hello, Kris! Yeah, you can sign me up for the fan club...I love them. Thank you!
Love my intermedia. Species bright would be one of my dream T's. These guys think they're scorpions. Raising their buts in the air like they're gonna sting you
YES! The butt raising is adorable! I love my intermedia as well...she just molted and put on a ton of size. Awesome genus that I've been missing out on for quite some time. Thanks, John!
I picked up a female Xenesthis. Sp. Blue too awhile back. Love mine. She is so leggy though lol. Also got a X. Intermedia as a Mystery box from FNT this last time they did it and it turned out to be a female too. Excited to see them grow.
Hello, Cherette! Congrats on both of yours! And both ladies? That's fantastic! Yeah, I didn't realize how leggy they are. I love it. :)
I purchased 2 X intermedia about 2 months ago. They pretty much doubled in leg span after 1 molt. One is a very shy eater and the other eats anytime anything. They really appreciate humidity and are way faster than expected. They seem to just do short quick bolts and then freeze so that’s nice.
Hello, Tommie! Congrats on yours! Yeah, these guys have all molted at least once already and are putting on quite a bit of size!
Thanks Tom, now I have a pricey spood on my wish list 😳 that Xenesthis sp bright looks amazing!
Yeah, the prices are ridiculous. That's what kept me from buying any for a long time. I will say that I think that they are worth it. :) Thank you, Ellina!
Just bought some Xenesthis immanis and Xenesthis megascopula from FNT just now for their Xmas sale! Ofcourse, I can't wait for them to grow!
Congrats! I think that you'll find that they grow VERY quickly!
Xenesthis sp. are beautiful need them in my collection great video thanks for sharing Tom 💯...
How's it going, Nick! I hope you and yours are doing well! Thanks so much, bud. I"m so glad to finally have some of these.
I think this spider can have mutualistic relationships with a frog the spider protects the frog and it’s baby’s from predators and the frog protects the spiders eggs from ants
I thought that it was a Xenesthis species that did that, but I couldn't remember which one. Thank you!
"Don't roll your eyes at me, I haven't left the house in 6 months."
XD
Bahahahaha! Good times!
Basically im starting to watch every Ts ch. on youtube that i can find and this is the best channel for beginner like me so far.. 🔥🔥
#husbandry #rehouse and more..
and all i got is a jumping spider #loL
I just found this in my spam folder...so sorry for the delay! Thank you so very much...that means a lot! :)
You sharp the knifeeeeee yessss... I love your channel man ..i am learning alot with you. Thanks for sharing
Yeah, I figured I should when I was getting more comments about the dull knife than the cool spiders I was unboxing. haha Thank you so much, Osky!
Awesome new additions!!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful ! Can't wait to see them when they mature .
Thank you so much, Dan! :)
first you get me wanting a bunch of pamphobeteus sp. now you got me wanting a bunch of these guys. LOVE the leggies!!
Hello, Marina! I'm basically just costing people a ton of money, aren't I? hahah Me too! :)
Xenesthis have always been my favourite genus. 15 years ago i had many X immanis and X intermedia. I had breeding projects but only got 2 bad eggsacks. They seems to be pretty hard to breed. Nowdays they are too expenssive for me so i just admire them from other peoples videos and pictures
They are such awesome spiders. And I've heard that they are very difficult to get sacs from as well. A shame, as it would be nice to get those prices down! Thanks!
Congratulations on adding those species, ticked of a long time one of my bucket list today, G.pulchra female.
Can't wait for a Podcast on these guys. Keep well🤘🏼
Hello, Janco! Congrats on your G. pulchra...that's awesome! Thank you, and stay well yourself! :)
Love how leggy they are! 😂🤩
Me, too! Thanks!
Just watch as I always do. Love the videos. Super informative. Just bought myself a sp.blue female sling. 2 intermedia slings and a 5” immanis. There all super quick.
Thank you so much! And congrats on your Xenesthis species. Yes, their speed is amazing! I don't know if you caught the one jumping when I closed the lid in the video. I only noticed it after the fact. It teleported!
Tom Moran yea there like lightning quick. Super species imo. Can’t wait for the blue to grow 😂
Great video. Nice new additions.
Thank you so much, Channy!
Nice gift and ts have not got any as yet they do look awesome as adults.i did get a phormictopus sp south hispaniola I'm growing up they have a nice blue colour as slings, great vid Tom.
Hello, James! Yeah, I'm going to have to be on my game for next Mother's Day. haha. Congrats on your molt! And one of my south hispaniolas just molted as well...she's now 8"! I was shocked by her size, and her colors changed a bit. She now has more green on her carapace.
Omg. Thats like 2k unboxing. Sooo jealous. Ughh wish i could afford those
Hi, David! I think she got a deal on them, but yes...that was probably an expensive box. I had no Xenesthis species for a long time because they were so expensive. I totally get it.
Billie rocked for Father's Day !
I'm telling you, Stuart...I don't know what the heck I'm going to do for Mother's Day next year. haha
Super informative Tom, thanks for this. Watching all the way from South Africa 🇿🇦
Thank you so much, Liann! I hope all is well!
@@TomsBigSpiders all good this side, thanks mate. Great to get back 8into the hobby

Ha! That's awesome. :)
Nice additions Tom.
Hey, bud! Thanks so much!
@@TomsBigSpiders no problem. :)
These are gorgeous! I hope they continue to become more affordable. Thanks for the video!
Thank you, Carly! I know...they are so darned expensive. If Billie didn't pick these up for me, I would have been too cheap to.
I saw you posted a video about one of your Juveniles T's having DKS. I just saw a video from a few month ago from Tarantulaguy1976 and he tried giving a drop of natural CBD and a few days later it was getting better and eventually started eating. Just wanted to pass the info along, though I'm sure you probably saw it. I just hate to see anything go through that, and I hope it is something that could help. I know it's not a guaranteed thing, but probably couldn't hurt. I hope you are doing ok, and thank you for all the amazing info you have put out over the years. ✌💙🕷🕸
And if it was an old video I apologize as for some reason old videos are showing in the "stories" or whatever it's called here on the YT.
Hello, Allie! So sorry for the late reply! I did see that...very interesting! I wish I could have seen footage of the spider, as there are other symptoms that resemble DKS that aren't quite the same...and sometimes not fatal. I had a spider recently showing similar signs, and it pulled out of it. Still. the CBD thing is a very interesting theory! Thank you!
I'm new to the T world, and I actually acquired a Xenesthis Immanis about 2 months ago, and man are they a fast growing species, mines only molted about once, but its about 2 inches long and they're extremely entertaining! So I'm for sure looking forward to see how yours grow and learning and maybe putting my inputs in to the videos! Im for sure going to aquire more as times goes
Congrats on your X. immanis! I'm totally loving this genus as well. They are very entertaining to watch hunt! Thank you!
I just got my first Xenesthis a sp white the other week, awesome spiders, good luck growing them up m8
Congrats on yours, bud! And thanks so much. The rate that they're growing already, I'll be doing updates monthly. haha Hope all is well!
@@TomsBigSpiders yes all good thanks, hope you all are too. Carnt wait to see their progress!
So gorgeous sp sir😍♥️
Thank you so much, Emmanuelle! :)
It honestly kills me that your channel dont get the traffic it should! Your the most informative and honestly your about the Tarantulas and not about "accidentally feeding off males" every month just to get views. Keep truckin man. 💪
I truly appreciate that...thank you! I'm okay staying smaller, as it allows me to personally respond to all of the comments. :)
@@TomsBigSpiders true 👍🕷🕸
So jealous! Currently trying to find a Xenesthis sp blue in Germany... well, patience. Like the Video, loved the Podcast!
Hopefully, you find them soon! I believe the ones we have over here are imported, so someone over your side of the pond must be breeding them. :)
@@TomsBigSpiders I hope so. Perseverence is key, I suppose...
Another thing i can say about the husbandry. I consider myself experienced with this genus, cos i have had many specimens during many years and attempt to breed them many times. IME, they seems to be less adaptable too cage set ups? I had many times set up the enclosure with corcbark hides and moist substrate and plants in the same way that i always does for NW terrestrials and imo the terrarium looked very good, but the spiders did not like it. They where very nervous and paced the cage trying to find a way out. What i did was changing the caging. I leaned a corcbark slab against the glass side, and amideatly the spider took residence and begun to burrow and begun to eat. Most of my Xenesthis spiders behaved like this, and i set up their cages the same way, a corkbark slab leaning against the side. Not all of them behaved like this. I had a large female that settled down in a terrarium set up in the usuall way. I dont know why my Xenesthis spiders was like this, mayve they all where goifballs? But this is a tip for you about their set ups
Sp. white is so awesome 😍
That has been my dream species for YEARS. I remember when the first photos of the males began circulating. Wow.
its a dream come true for you
Can't buy any spiders rn due to my living arrangements... help...
lol I just noticed how she sighs when you mention wanting a bigger room for Ts
Awww...man. Might that change in the future?
Hahahaha. Poor Billie...my wife is a saint!
Tom great additions! Love Xenesthis spec., they get very big and are so beautyful, they are truly dream animals!
EDIT: My favorite is the X. intermedia!
(I remember, in year 99, I paid for a X. spec blue sling 30 Deutsch Mark and for a Theraphosa blondi 20 Deutsche Mark, really cheap back then)
Hello, Wolle! I'm totally in love with this genus. Billie was online earlier trying to see if she could find any of the ones I was missing. haha My X. intermedia just molted, and he/she now has some of those pretty colors. Man, they WERE really cheap...wow! Thanks for chiming in, bud!
Thank u sir I love these guys amazing video as always
Andrew! Do you guys have power, bud? We just got our back, and I'm shocked, as we're usually last in the state when we get slammed. Thank so much! I'm in love with this genus now!

getting new spiderlets is so exciting i never got w whole bunch that I didnt know what they were going to be tho. i got a new Ephebopus cyanognathus a few days ago and its a amazing looking little spider only ~2cm wide atm but metallic green abdomen and pink legs w/ blue bands and little yellow stripes and black toes and the bright blue patches on its chelicerae so pretty little creature
Hey, Super Loops! I'm still getting used to your new pic! haha Yeah, opening up a box like this is fun...with just a little stress. The joke about needing a new house with a larger tarantula room? No joke. We're buying a new house that will have a new T room. haha Congrats on your E. cyanognathus...I definitely have to get one of those! That's the only problem with this hobby...there are always more cool spiders out there to acquire. Thanks so much for chiming in; I hope all is well!
Awesome video Tom some gorgeous Ts there they must off cost a fortune the sp intermedia go for over £100 in the uk for a sling so can't imagine how much they would cost in the states congratulations on adding more xenesthis sp too your collection look forward too some videos on them as they grow.
Thanks, Wayne! I don't even want to know what they went for. hahaha Billie usually ends up buying me my most expensive spiders as I'm a bit cheap. haha

Hello, Tracy! I sure will! :)
Where are u? Hope is all good . Hugs
Hello, Osky! I'm so sorry for not being as active. Long story short, I applied for a new teaching job and got it, but they hired me so late that I now have to spend the first month of the school year at my old school. This is going to basically mean double the work for a bit as I finish up at my old school, then jump right in at the new school. Also, we're moving on September 25th, so I've been packing and getting our current house ready for market. It's been a very busy few weeks! Don't worry...I'll be back very soon. The good news is that my new house will have a huge tarantula room which will allow for me to shoot my videos in there. :)
@@TomsBigSpiders glad to see everything is fine.. looking forward for more cool videos...and the new tarantula room .. hugs
Holy... X. sp Blue... I would love to have one... but atm there seems to be no easy way to get them here. It's such a dream species for me to get. The morphology of the Xenesthis seems to be realy close to the Theraphosas is there any research on the genetic relation of Xenestis, Theraphosa and Pamphobeteus? For me it seems, judging by the looks, that they are kinda related. Great video Tom!
Hello, Christoph! I don't see them all that much in the states, either. I think that they are very difficult to breed. And I definitely see similarities between these and Theraphosa slings. They have the same look, speed, and feeding response! :)

First off, so sorry for the long delay in replying! I'm so sorry to hear about your escapes...that's terrible. Yeah, these things are so addictive!
Can you remember any sellers in the western United States
Jamie's Tarantulas is on the west coast I believe.
My tarantula goals. I want an intermedia so bad. Maybe the prices will come down eventually. 😬🙂
Hello, Allie! I totally get it about the price. That's a big reason that it took me so long to get some. Hopefully, they drop to a more reasonable level soon.
I picked up an intermedia today. Thought it was cool :D I also picked up a ‘Giant Blue Bloom’ the other week, I picked it up because it was so leggy. But it’s scientific name wasn’t listed and there’s not much on google I can find, is it part of this species?
Congrats on your intermedia! The "Giant Blue Bloom" should be Pamphobeteus negricolor.
@@TomsBigSpiders ah got it, thank you much man c: channels like you Dark Den and the collective really help. I’ve got 7 T’s total and a jumping spider. It is enjoyable :)
So I got to ask..
Which spider do you think is the most beautiful and which one is your favorite depending on how it acts and/or it's looks.
The most beautiful I know is Chilobrachys fimbriatus, I just LOVE that wooden look. Otherwise my Nhandu Chromatus, she's so fun. Not skittish or particularly defensive but she's good at attacking stuff :P
Hello, Chili Ghost! First off, my sincere apology for the ridiculously late reply. This is going to sound like a cop out, but I honestly don't know if I can limit it to one. I have a hard time choosing even 10. hahaha Let's see...my favorite would be my G. porteri...the Queeen. I've had her for 25 years, and she was my first. I'm VERY attached to that old girl. As for the most beautiful...God, I just don't know! As for most beautiful? UGH. I love the look of the P. regalis. I don't know if it's the most beautiful, but I love the look of them. That's the best that I can do! haha
@@TomsBigSpiders that's fine, I know what you mean.
I love the appearance of my N. Chromatus, perhaps the most (not sure) even though I think C. fimbriatus is the most beautiful spider like... Well in a clean sort of way. It's completely impossible to describe. It's sort of like a model, they can look incredible but I like a more personal, cute kind of beauty, not perfection.
And to be honest, I don't have the same favorites all the time.. I'll admit that 😂
Hey Tom have you notices that when it comes to buying tarantulas lately, its been slim pickins? Not too many to choose from lately.
So sorry for the delay? Actually, I was just remarking to Billie that there have been more unique species available than ever before! haha
I'm chilly getting 5 M. Balfouri and I would like to keep them together. What size container should I put them in.There 3/4 inch slings thanks Dan
Hi, Dan. I would start them in something around a gallon size or so (not a critter keeper, though, as slings that size can escape through the vents). You want to give them a bit of room, as they will grow quickly)>
Tomorrow i am gonna upload a video on my current collection and talk a little. Watch if you want, you maybe like it?
Just did...great collection! I have to get more P. murinus locales.
@@TomsBigSpiders yes, they are very pretty!

Hey Tom! Just a question: In what kind of enclosure would you house an Harpactira pulchripes? just a 30x30x30?
I have my adult female in one around that size, so that should work!
tom i wish more phormictopus videos 😁
Hi, Dale! Did you see my most recent feeding video? :)

Hey Tom, a little off topic from the video, but how are your H. davidbowie doing, I got mine a couple months ago as a spec and its already 3/4" yours have to be getting big by now. How about an update?
Hi, Colin! Unfortunately, I had two males who have since died. I DO plan to get more in the future.
Hey Tom! How have the xenesthis all been doing. Mine (Xenesthis intermedia) has already outgrown her first enclosure. I noticed a lot of tude when moving, she/he bit the paintbrush 3 times before complying with moving. I hope yours are doing well also.
Mine are doing great! They eat like machines and they've been molting consistently. I've already had to rehouse three of them. haha I'll be posting a feeding video up soon that features some of mine (of course, they've all molted at least once more since I shot it. haha). Thanks!
@@TomsBigSpiders glad to hear it. Yeah they seem to eat like champions, the only two i have that i compare with would be my GBB, and my pumpkin patch large form. All never shy away from food, even after i harassed them with a move.
Yes, very leggy as slings and juveniles. Its when they are adults, females beefs up. Its very strange how leggy they are
Yeah, the legginess is insane! So gangly!
@@TomsBigSpidersLarge juveniles and subadults are leggy too. IME older females are bulky. And the leggyness seems to decrease with size and age. I have had many X immanis females and i had a particulair large one. 20cm+ legspan, and she was huge and bulky, but i think she was pretty old. I had her for some years before i had to sell my collection because of me getting into school campus. I only had my female G rosea with me. I often regret selling my Xenesthis collection. Back then i bought adult females for 90 euro, and juveniles for for 40 euro. Nowdays they are too expensive for me

Hahahaha Do you guys get the humidity, too? And screw that. If anything, I'd move further north. I wear a vest in 20 degree weather. haha
Oh yeah we get serious humidity. But I was born and raised here and I wouldn't trade that for anything. If I moved to another state it would be somewhere like Montana or something. But I can't stand bitter cold either so... Lol
Hi Tom, I'm not sure where to write, so I leave a comment here. it seems like new episode of your podcast didn't get released today. I'm not sure if that's on purpose because you just released P. metallica one but I thought it's worth letting you know.
Hello, Hoxster! Yeah, missed a week. The next episode will be out tomorrow. I'll be back on schedule after that. Sorry!!!
Hi Tom, I know you’re super busy so get back to me when you have time.
For the last 6.5 years of tarantula keeping i’ve been using coco fiber and I’m honestly sick of it.
What brands of substrate do you use?
I’m honestly terrified i’m going to get one with fertilizer of some sort.
I plan on having two big bins of substrate one for all moisture dependent species and one for arid species, I just need to figure out what’s safe.
Thanks, -Ben
Hi, Ben! If you want to go the inexpensive route, I've used Scotts or Timberline topsoil mixed with vermiculite for years. That has worked well for me. I also use a lot of the Bio Dude's Terra Aranea substrate, and love it. It's just a bit pricey compared to other things on the market.
Tom/Richard/Petco so I only have 15 spiders and keep posting on all 3 of you guys as my fav. No offense but I cant chose you are all so awesome! I did T's 25 ish years ago when I caught them as a young USMC Mp when people called 911 cause the Ts were monsters (mating on their screens in SoCal) I tried to keep them many times with out success in those days because the resources just were not there. That said, I live on your guys posts on Ts again no offense but I did scorps and reps never again so those posts lose me.... random chat irl not relevant rant.... I am referring peeps in Titch(darknessbreed), D3(Ghost), and many other gaming platforms to you gents as the Holy Grail!!! If you find offense please message me and I will stop. I am hoping you dont and I will keep chatting you guys up!!! Tom, I have mentioned it before, but if I had a teacher in any subject, any year, as great as you.... I would not have been a life timer grunt. Every teacher in the world need to subscribe to your channel or Richard and Petco's!!! TYVM. Just got my DarkDen shirt for last fathers day... waiting on my shirt from you other guys (not asking for a freebie, my girls like to order them!!!) $110 for a 1 inch golden blue leg baboon... In PDX.... its my next possible... thoughts would be great, I see FearNot might get me one for 150 and a freebie but never done online, thoughts? (#16)
Hey, Gery! Thanks so much. I don't mind being tied for first. ;) And that's an awesome story! I still keep scorps (I love those little buggers and the way they eat with their claws), but totally understood. And thank you so much for the very kind words on my teaching...that REALLY means a lot! As for ordering online, we can't sell tarantulas in public places in my state (pet stores, expos, etc) so I've ordered the vast majority of mine online. If you go with a reputable dealer, you should have no problems. Thanks again! - Tom
Just ordered a X sp Blue from Fear Not Tarantulas!20% off sale today!so a slightly moist substrate!?
What a great deal...that's awesome, congrats! Yes, I kept part of the sub moist and gave mine a water dish. They are all doing just fine. :)
X. Intermedia is easy to care?
Sorry for the delay, Carlos! Yes, I'm finding them rather easy to care for. They are eating machines, and they just need a little moist substrate, a dish, and a hide.
Wheres the cannibal corpse sweater!!!! Haha
Hahaha. Did you catch the end of the video? The green screen was in my attic, and it was in the 90s. No sweatshirts until winter! haha
Tom Moran yeah I hate summer bring back the cold harsh winters and cannibal corpse sweaters! 🤘🏽 those little slings are so dope though I’ve been looking for them but they are just so pricey. Gonna wait till I see a few more for a few bucks less
@@jangulo619 Hahahaha. Amen, bud! Yeah, the prices for them are ridiculous...that's why it took me so long to get any. If Billie hadn't bought them for me, I would have been too cheap to get any. haha
Tom Moran lmao I hear you man, well Billie is awesome! You’re great as well keep up the good work, I’ve learned tons by watching your videos and it’s made me a better keeper as well.

Xenesthis intermedia is good for begginers?
Most won't consider it a beginner tarantula because they are so pricey. They also need to be kept with a bit of moisture.
What ever happened to that Chinese trapdoor spider you got awhile back?
One died a year or so ago. I still have the other, although it hasn't eaten in quite a while.
have you got any scorpions ?
Yes I do!
*maybe urgent* hey Tom I have a P.Metallica its about 1.5in, and it recently molted. looks almost fully hardened but it looks like it has 2 legs stuck in the molt and is just toting around the molt by the legs stucks to it not to mention one leg that is drying bent really weird. Can you please please help me out idk what i should do, instinct says pull the molt off but i really don't want it losing legs and possibly other complications. I have listened to literally every single podcast you put out there and watched alot of your videos, read your pdf from fear not tarantulas, and most of your articles from your website. There is no ones word I would trust more so than yours. The only reason I commented here is cause I know you say this where you respond faster than some other places.
My sincere apologies for the long delay in replying. I returned back to school last week, and I haven't had much time to do anything. How is it doing? If the legs are giving it a problem, it should cast them away on its own. They will basically detach them where they connect to the body. Then, the spider will grow them back little by little with future molts. Has it hunted or eaten yet? As long as it's still mobile, it should be fine. Also, were conditions dry before the molt?
@@TomsBigSpiders you are 100% good man, i know how it goes. I eneded up just leaving it be and it ended up finally shedding the molt the rest of the way the loss of one leg. The conditions were a bit dryer than I would have liked them to be, and as far as hunting its hard to tell, it is mobile but not really hunting i tried prekilled dubia and it seemed to eat that okay. So I remoistened its enclosure and glued a water dish up where its hide is. It never ended burrowing for me so I also stuck some moss up on the bark I've been moistening every now and then. Over all it seems a little off with its energy but has been getting around just fine. Thank you much for the reply
