    ‪@Mattel‬
    Players race to empty their hands and catch opposing players with cards left in theirs, which score points. In turns, players attempt to play a card by matching its color, number, or word to the topmost card on the discard pile. If unable to play, players draw a card from the draw pile, and if still unable to play, they pass their turn. Wild and special cards spice things up a bit.
    UNO is a commercial version of Crazy Eights, a public domain card game played with a standard deck of playing cards.

      It is a game that most of us just absorb by word of mouth instead of actually reading the rules, so people don't know about it,, and I think in some ways people don't like this rule because they just want to play the +4 so badly without restrictions.

      The challenge rule is a thing that groups at the start of the game usually talk about whether or not they would use it, the same way that they decide whether they would do 7s and 0s, draw till get color or draw one, stacking, jump in's, and or plus fours on plus two's.

    Me and my friends made a rule for this card. The "Wild +4" in this rule is used to challenge any player regardless it's their turn (next player) or not (i.e the one with the Uno in the last turn)
    1. Bring forth the "Wild +4" card and one card facing down. The challenge card.
    2. Mention any player to challenge them to guess the color of the challenge card.
    3. The player guess the color.
    4. Reveal that challenge card so anyone can see.
    5. If they guess it wrong, they draw 4 cards. If they guess it right, you draw 6 cards instead, and lost your turn.
    6. Next player restart the game based on that challenge card color.
    This way you don't have to reveal all the cards you have on your hand when someone decided to challenge you, and the "Wild +4" card will be a devastating double edge sword that make the game more exciting.

    • @LegendaryTactics
      @LegendaryTactics  6 месяцев назад +1

      Well, you can try to play it, but the victim can challenge it. If you don't have any of the color in play, the victim has to pick up 6 cards. But if you are caught with the current color in hand, you have to pick up the 4 cards, not the victim. It adds an element of bluffing to the +4 card.

    • @slimecubeboing
      @slimecubeboing 5 месяцев назад +1

      Pretty sure the restriction only applies to color. So if the top card is a Red 5, and you have a +4, no red cards, and a Yellow 5, playing the +4 is legal in this case because you have no red, even though you could’ve played the Yellow 5.

    • @jeffreyerekson2179
      @jeffreyerekson2179 4 месяца назад

      @@slimecubeboingyou are correct that it's color only.
      However, my rule is that you can only play a WD4 if you have no other play. In other words, if you can change the color without playing the WD4, you have to do it in that manner.
      Example: red 6 is showing and you have, amongst other cards, a blue 6 and a WD4. Even if you have no reds in your hand, you must play the blue 6 instead of the WD4.
      In your example, you'd have to play the yellow 5 instead of the WD4

    Ok so I'm arguing with someone I say that you can't play a draw 4 if you have a wild, that you have to play the wild first
    They say you can play wild or draw 4 if you don't have a card that will play.
    Which is right?

    • @LegendaryTactics
      @LegendaryTactics  4 дня назад

      That's a good question. I would say that the wild doesn't need to be played because it isn't of a specific suit, and so doesn't qualify as challengeable. Just because it's playable doesn't mean it meets the requirements of the rule. For instance, if you have a card with the matching number as the card on the discard pile, it would be a similar thing

    and you got 3 cards only say draw 4 one yellow and one red card say number 5

      Jump-in can be happened when someone that isn't before you puts a card that has the same color and the same symbol/number as one of the cards, you have three seconds to jump-in, aswell as you can jump in yourself if you have two similar cards (in everything), and the turn then goes to the players who is next to you. Any draw cards won't stack up when you jump-in. The block and reverse cards do effect to the next player after jumping-in, that's all.

    It's not in all the rules...
    (This happened like 20 years ago, in primary school)
    So I read the rules of my copy of UNO. It had this rule described... So I managed to convince people sometimes to use the rule (it makes sense). But it was the 199x so everyone had a copy of UNO and I was making the pitch about this rule and there was another player convinced I didn't read the rules...me: 'no, you didn't read the rules'. So they gave me the rules and they were different from the ones I had at home... Not sure if they are different print versions or were some of the games knockoffs... Or was it the probelm with translations. (If you had a copy of uno that had German of English rules translated). But the situation was quite embarrassing.

    • @LegendaryTactics
      @LegendaryTactics  Год назад +1

      I don't think this rule was in the original version of Uno. I don't have any data on it to show, but it seems like it was added at some point in the '90s, possibly because people were saving up their +4 cards to use just when another player was about to win, and there was nothing that a player could do to stop it.

  • @user-cv9km3vs7n

    I wish your explanation had included more information regarding the Draw 4 rule, because the official rules don't say whether the player who has been caught playing a Draw 4 illegally still gets to select the color. He has to draw 4 cards, but can he still name the color as if he had played the card legally?

    I HAVE A QUERY that If 2 ppl are playing UNO one will draw +2 card and the opponent have just 1 card left which is a power card of +4, he/she draw +4 upon +2 and the other opponent have again draw +4 then the opponent will have to pick all those 10 cards Or He/she will win because they don't have any card left? (I think that he/she will have to pick up all those cards otherwise there's no Value left of those power cards we drew).

    • @LegendaryTactics
      @LegendaryTactics  Год назад

      I hope I am understanding your question correctly - remember that in UNO the +2 and +4 cards are not supposed to "stack" (add on to each other). This is a popular "house rule". So one player plays the +2, the opponent draws 2 cards and also misses their turn to play a card, and the first player goes again.

      It's about legal play and illegal play. You can play the card anytime, with a consequence.
      The rule is this card can only be played if you don't have any card matching the color of the discarded card. So when you choose to play this card when you actually have that card matching the color of the discarded card, they can challenge you of illegal play. You get to draw 6 instead and others can see your entire hand.

    A lot of people should become familiar with official rules because it is buggy when they don't realize the RULES ARE TO BALANCE THE GAME. Who tf wants to play an unbalanced game? People get mad when you say "You have to put down a train one at a time because 1. we have to validate what you're putting down 2. You have to give everyone a chance to call your "Uno", which leads to 3. Always have your hand visible; I don't know when mofos started hiding their hand or holding it down, because when I was younger EVERYONE required your hand to be up so we can count how many cards you have. Playing Trains is the WORST; People don't know how to properly train numbers; THEY HAVE TO BE THE SAME COLOR, BUT A DUPLICATE NUMBER CAN CHANGE THE COLOR. This rule is so you can't just easily train numbers together, it makes training a challenge that otherwise wouldn't be much of a challenge if we're ignoring colors.

      Totally agree. I think a lot of those "house rules" are in place because people like to find an advantage where they can, and if they personally like a particular advantage, why not make it canon? The same type of thing happens in Monopoly and most games that are casually played.

    LOL!
    I've played UNO for almost 40 years & I never heard anyone one use this rule. NEVER!
    I only discovered it when I downloaded the app.
    It's just one of those house rules like free parking.
    Or one rule in my favorite board game CLUE which I absolutely hate & insist its not used.
    That would be when during a normal turn a player makes his suggestion and the person & weapon named are moved to the room the suggestion was made it even when the character moved is a player in the game.
    I guess i can live w/ using it as a tactic to slow someone down.
    But if the player was unlikely enough to choose the character who's the murder his game can be over before it starts.

    • @LegendaryTactics
      @LegendaryTactics  Год назад

      Yes, I have never liked that rule in Clue.
