I solved Tick-Oat-Two (it only took me 10 mins, so its not "balanced"). Second player still always wins. Whenever first player places his mark, check if you can win in 1 turn, and if not place yours mirror. If he makes a T, make a mirror T. If he goes center, go center next turn. The hardest part is to figure out where to place your mark the turn he went center. But you should keep everything mirror. Thats the golden rule of this game

@@randomjunkohyeah1 yeah, its been more than a year :/ I dont really remember, but i guess in this context it means that if first player goes left down tile, then you go left up tile, if he goes middle up tile, you go middle down tile. And obviously because the board is symmetrical, you can mirror him not horizontally but vertically as well (left up tile - right up tile). So another words, to win, second player needs to keep symmetry

This is actually an AMAZING remake!
There’s one thing wrong with it, the balance still isn’t all too fair; but I’d make it so that you could occupy the other player’s ticks no more than 3 times a game, and when you use up one of those times, you can’t do it for your next turn, and you can never occupy the most recently occupied tick/space. That makes it fair for all, and makes it even fairer!
Yeah, while it makes it less simple, that's a small sacrifice in order for it to be more fair.

yup, second player still has a garanteed win if they wait a turn and then start placing their lines on player 1 lines from a turn ago, player 1 never has more than 2 valid lines in the game and cant win

oat's fixes are actually, without a joke, getting more and more practical! like wow, he actually listed the priorities!
Slight problem, the game is going to devolve into very predictable play. Your goal (essentially) it to just play for as long as possible without forming 3 in a row (because that would allow your opponent to win). So every game will have a setup phase of like four turns of people placing these:

Then you'd want to individually make something like

+|+|
Then the game ends pretty much immediately if someone deviates from this strategy. Or, is forced to place another line.
Also, this placement guarantees a win for player 2 after 8 turns unless there's some way to prevent player 2 from playing this strategy (like playing in the places that player needs to go next turn).
@@solsystem1342 just tested it myself a bit and while I found other stable play combinations the player 2 pretty much always wins
@@holesmak I tested it too. It's still more fun than regular Tic Tac Toe, but I had the same results as you. It seems if both players play optimally, Player 2 will always win.

@@solsystem1342 There is no such play, 1st player is forced to take at least one of those 6 six in first two moves since middle one is only square that does not contribute to such strategy and they can't go to same place on their 2nd move as player 2 went on their first move. This leaves square that player 1 can't protect as they already went there.

Played a few games with my son and we pretty much concluded that if you and your opponent both understand the game, whoever goes first loses. Lol
That said it's a really cool twist. Definitely makes you think a little harder. Both players are trying not to get 3 of their own lines in a row, pretty much.

I once had an idea for a new version of tic tac toe: You play it on a rubik's cube . Each move you can either draw your symbol on an empty place, or turn a section 90 degrees. The goal is to get an entire side filled with your symbol
The idea of turning a rubix cube into two player is... scary. but I think the game would last forever unless you couldn't turn it in a way that would move a square your opponent previously moved

I'll keep playing ultimate tic-tac-toe (basically a tic-tac-toe of tic-tac-toes, which is way needs way more strategy, but has the downside of being longer), but I'll try this version some day (and try to solve it, because it looks very solvable)
2:30 fortunately for me, only 10% of the time end in a tie because as you said, the first player has a huge advantage.
It is always a draw if you play perfectly. There are easy always to memorize the pattern.

There's a advantage for player number two still as whichever player connecting their 3 lines first will most likely win and since player 1 starts first player 2 has a higher winning chance but that only matters for player who actually have strategies and know what they're doing

For the current tic tac toe, during my childhood I looked into it and found that if a player goes first, he must win unless the other player puts a cross in the centre. It really helped/ruined the game😂
Actually you can trap the second player that way. Place your X in a corner, they'll take the center, then place an X in the opposite corner and hope they misplay.

I think tick-tact-two would be a cooler name. The tact for "tactics or tactical". Also I think the players should be allowed to extend the board in any direction by one square/section once per game. They can't win with it right away due to needing two marks to get it so it could be used a distraction tactic. Like "look where I'm going to go" and you just don't go there.

i solved tic tac toe at school, by myself, and it's a draw with best play no matter where you start, and you can use some tricks to take advantage of opponents that don't know the game, and now ill study this other one

I tried it not expecting much, but this is an triple-A title! Amazing graphics, amazing gameplay, and great level environments! Not many game devs can say that they’ve made a game that fits all three of those.

I have an idea for a kind of TicTacToe:
CrossAndLoss
The game works as a Tic-Tac-Toe, but instead of 9 spaces, there are 25, meaning 5 by 5.
The players use different colours as opponents, while using a line just like this game.
The player must connect 3 lines against each other to win.
However, it’s a bit more complicated.
This ( I I I ) is not a completion. It must be like ( - - - ) or any other direction. Diagonal, vertical, horizontal.
Also, a character can make a + or an X, and the opponent can overlap just like this game.
Diagonal lines are the same thing applied.
The game is finished when there are not more spaces left, and the winner is whoever made the fewest lines connected.
Remember: An X or a + is the only thing technically using an overlap. Also, opponents can not use each other’s lines as completion of a line. This is where the competitive part plays in, as they fight to try to take up the most spaces without making a completion.
1: It is quite simple.
2: it is easy to set up.
3: The time is quite longer.
4: Very competitive.
5: Fair to play.

I honestly think this is better than the original in every aspect. I already started spreading this game in my home country, but as other people already pointed out, player 2 still has big advantage, because he can just do the right moves and win. On the other hand, isn't it a problem with strategy games in general? You really have to just be careful to not do something dumb and wait until your opponent slips and does something dumb.

double slash gives you double the turns
one slash square makes it so for one turn
removeatron 3000 removes a slash
pre-set + allows you to place a full + without the opponent
flip-swap makes you play as the opposing player and the opposing player plays as you for one turn
diagonal why-agonal places a diagonal mark wich first one to put a slash claims it and shall now act like and it will act like a full +
lie detector forces the opposing player to tell exactly where they intend to place their mark next turn,such info might be valuable
