I think it'd make more sense, if on the first guess you got 6 points, and on the last one just 1, since making the last guess worth 0 means you just have 5 guesses in total instead of 6, and trying to guess the word on the 6th attempt makes it meaningless
6:53 You could've guaranteed the solution here, with "-EAR" confirmed, despite there being a million possibilities for the first letter With WYSFGHBN all being possible, you could instead use guesses to eliminate those options, instead of blindly trying to guess the right one With 4 guesses remaining, a guess like "BINS" would obviously be wrong, but would leave "WYFGH". Then you have 3 guesses left, and could throw out "WIFE" to narrow it down to "YGH", with 2 guesses left. Then something like "hype" would eliminate YH, but leave G as the last possible option, and with 1 guess still available! Just throwing it out there as it may be something you find helpful for those kinds of cases in the future~
the strategy is that when you got green letters already and there's too many guesses left (like 3 out of 4 and stuff), you can use green spots to try other letters to see if one of them is yellow, then use it in other spots
What I like to do is when there is a huge ambiguity (like with that "*ear") I make an additional guess containing as much ambiguous letters as possible (for *ear i'd guess something like "fine" for f and n; or "pong", to remove (or assure) pear, near and gear)
It's interesting to see something like this but its not necessarily a fair competition if the AI doesn't fully have the ruleset of the game and understand best practices. It should still almost always be able to get the words without it but it would on average guess slower than someone making specific guesses to eliminate letters. If you were to have an AI specifically made to play wordle you would absolutely lose most of the time similar to how other AI's for games such as chess or GO decimate all but the best players.
You don't have to burn guesses one at at time if you know it ends in EAR. You can guess something like NEWT, which simultaneously guesses NEAR, WEAR and TEAR. If that didn't get it, guess FIBS, which guesses FEAR, BEAR and SEAR. People get in a rut of locking in green letters, but you can go on a tangent and find missing letters, then return to try to solve it.

@@yoavco99 Totally agree! And I hope that many people know that who aren't working on a PhD in NLP know that too :) The reason I included that NLP is my field of study is because it helps establish my credibility, especially when I'm pointing out something that could potentially be a mistake. The points shouldn't go from +5 to +0, because getting the word at the last chance is still a correct answer, while Suda fails once (7:14). Getting it right at the end should give you one more point than not guessing it, so it's either the points going from +6 to +1 (and no points for not getting it) or points still going from +5 to +0 but with a penalty of -1 for not getting it. Either way, Suda should not have been considered the winner by a 1 point difference but, rahter, the game should be considered tied.

It amazes me how so many people and especially someone basing their channel on wordle still hasn't realized that you don't have to use the green letters every time. After finding the 3 letters at 6:53 you had it for free but still decided to try just *one* letter at a time and not get the word in the end. Kinda disappointed at chatgpt too but it is just an AI after all.

When I get in a position like you did with _EAR, rather than trying to guess the word directly, I'll put in a ward with a bunch of possible letters in it. Then you can rule out multiple possibilities.
I agree with the dudes, ChatGPT knows the entire dictionary and therefore the letter combinations, but unless you finely programme a "do a burner try", it won't be able to "outsmart" a human. Example, with the "GEAR" word, you have many options to choose from, and it can quickly substract points from you, but by doing a three consonant word, you essentially reduce the amount of randomness, so instead of trying in vain, you save some score
Man the only thing that I don't like about this video is that you keep using the discord notification for it, I still like the vid but it's making me feel like a FNAF security guard over here

you must precise to chat gpt that it's about wordless because it's not fair then, you even made fun of it for its first guess being "book" although it didn't know the context. This gives you a meaningful advantage.
To be fair, ChatGPT was not playing Wordle: it was only asked to throw some words, but if it knew you were playing Wordle it would have been more efficient. I recall a video I saw about a bot that played by considering entropy in order to find the best guess.
Actually when you have only one unknown letter and there are a bunch of words, say N of them (N more than 3) that satisfy the requirement, guessing one by one is not the best option, because you can only eliminate one option per guess, the expected number of guesses you need to get the correct word is N/2. A better option is to list out all possible letters that fit that unknown letter, and use as many of them as possible in each guess, allowing you to eliminate or pinpoint multiple of them at the same time every single guess. For example in 7:22, when you realized *EAR is the answer, instead of wasting your guesses trying NEAR, HEAR, FEAR, and BEAR, and still left with many other possible options other than the actual answer GEAR, like YEAR, PEAR etc, the way you can guarantee a win is to guess a word like WHIP. It's obviously not the answer, but you can use it to eliminate or pinpoint 3 options by 1 guess: WEAR, HEAR and PEAR. Then maybe you can try GOBY to cover GEAR, BEAR and YEAR. In this case, you can pinpoint GEAR as the answer, if the answer were something else, then FINS can handle the rest of the options (FEAR, NEAR, SEAR). ps: I have left out LEAR, I doubt if it can be the answer since it is too uncommon, even though it is accepted in wordless. Nevertheless, you can still pinpoint this answer after 3 guesses since this is the only legal input when all other possibilities are ruled out For chatGPT's case (8:11), there are much common word choices that can be used. ChatGPT could have tried RING to verify REAR, NEAR and GEAR, and pinpoint GEAR. If the answer were something else, it could continue with FISH to verify FEAR, SEAR and HEAR. If not, it can still guess BIRD to cover both BEAR and DEAR, and guess WEAR if all are eliminated (similarly, LEAR is left out here)
If you are in the three letter with like an it ending with lots of beginnings you can use a word with all of the beginning letters that you know will be wrong to get it right the next time
you'd need to go up against an ai specifically calibrated for wordle. Both yours and chatgpts strategy didn't involve guessing words with all new letters, even when you already have some letters that you know.

If the answer were something else, it could continue with FISH to verify FEAR, SEAR and HEAR. If not, it can still guess BIRD to cover both BEAR and DEAR, and guess WEAR if all are eliminated
(similarly, LEAR is left out here)
