I am doing the same thing. Great book, solid two movies made from it - Steve Jobs 2013 with Kutcher and Jobs 2015 with Fassbender. I'm a 90s baby, so I grew up in the Apple era but a few years too early to remember this ad. It hits all the right feels, especially after you understand the background behind Apple and Steve Jobs' thinking and philosophy. I like Jobs narration, but I'm glad he stuck with Dreyfuss' instead
I love how this commercial wasn't only an ad, but a kind of guide for how Apple structured its whole company culture. Even today, I think, it embodies the way they do things, just different enough to stand out and always bring something totally unique to the table.
"Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones that do." is probably the most motivational quote i've ever heard in my life
I think that quote should be "the people who think they can change the world, are the ones that do" leave out the crazy part. Less motivated people like to bully others and try and label them crazy, or try and gaslight them to make them feel crazy.
This ad NEVER gets old. To The crazy ones The misfits The rebels The trouble makers The round pegs in a square hole The ones who see things differently The ones who don't care about the status quo...whew!
Did anyone notice that the original idiom is "a square peg in a round hole" but they tweaked it to "the round peg in a square hole" to make it different? ;)
It's hard for me to watch this ad spot - and I've probably watched it many dozens of times at this point - without getting teary. It seems irrational to feel such emotion about a brand. But as a creative with a relationship to Apple products that spans 43 years at this point I suppose I feel a powerful connection to Apple in that it has conjured some of the most powerful tools to enable my creative productivity that I've used during my lifetime.
Yeah such a shame that the company right now seems to have lost its focus, their products are still quality but sometimes their economical choices are way too cheap, they charge for more and give less
It’s so sad to see them repeat the same exact mistakes Apple made under Sculley (dozens of different versions of the same product, much lower quality products, no vision and no real innovation). Still can’t believe Steve Jobs chose Tim Cook over Scott Forestall. I think he was so doped up from the cancer he made an irrational choice, Tim should have never been put in charge of Apple.
Stephen Parkinson you’re completely right. I used to not put as much weight into Jobs compared to the engineers like Woz and others (probably 40-60) but i started to “think different” when I looked at the facts: Every single revolutionary product Apple has ever released is from Steve’s brain. They have failed to move the world forward, and instead have become the very thing that Steve would have despised, and I’m sure Woz does at some level: a complacent money machine that relies on its addicted customer base to purchase the same overpriced phones with slightly different features year after year. Also, they kind of have a monopoly on the app services space since they literally are the App Store; they can squeeze third party developers relentlessly, because where else can they go? Pay up, they say. They have $93billion in cash & equivalents and yet they just keep fumbling the bag while spending billions on developing complimentary products instead of new user interfaces and new applications. Is focusing on building a production & streaming division really the way of the future and the way to change the world? Probably not.
@@GamingCentral80 meh, it seems like gimmicks more than anything else. over the past few years apple has been putting outdated garbage hardware in their computers and using their software to make up the difference. they're still kind of doing that right now. if they would put in some decent hardware and give it a proper cooling system they could be a major competitor, but they won't do that which is why PCs are still dominating the market.
@@rajat1960 no it's not BS. its fact. I remember when they rolled out the 2014 MacBook they put haswell processors in them and advertised them as being latest and greatest which was technically true until broadwell came out a month later. And they did this with every computer onward because it makes them much cheaper to manufacture. Apple knows new CPUs come every year so they intentionally grab micro architectures just before they go out of style and advertise them as being latest and greatest which is technically accurate but then the new CPUs come out soon after so their hardware is always a generation behind when they release it. And you can't defend them with the cooling. Everybody knows the cooling on these things is abysmal at best. They talk about how much they innovate but honestly its real easy making paper thin computers when you're removing essential components like heatsinks. And then they add silly names to their shit to make it sound better than it really is. Like a "fusion drive" is advertised as being faster than an HDD but it's the same damn thing. It's actually just a standard hybrid drive that uses NAND chips for caching making it run slightly faster. The best part is Apple didn't even manufactor or design these drives, they just bought them from Samsung or western digital and slapped a different name on them.

From my opinion the CEOs who joined Apple except for Steve Jobs could not make the company successful.
Easiest way to explain the correct grammar of "think different": "Hey, what's the vibe we're going for with this music video shoot?" "Think 1990's-meets-1920s-art-deco" Different is an adjective, and never was trying to be an adverb. It's a command to think of a word which describes the company and the users, not a command to tell you how to think.
I absolutely love this ad, probably my favorite ever advertisement. Ironically, Apple has made their money from users who embrace sameness and being part of a crowd versus being different more than perhaps any other product. Cult like even.
