Hey everyone, I'm sorry to ring the alarm but this story needs to be told. Back in 2012 I bought a brand new Dodge Durango RT. This was a truck I always wanted and felt so accomplished when I took it off the dealer lot. Well before I even made it home, the truck started steaming from under the hood and over heating. Needless to say, I took it back to the dealer and left it there quickly running out of their doors after.
Thinking this was just an issue with that truck, I found another one with similar specs and bought it. Well 15k miles later the same thing happened again and this time it left me stuck on the side of the road. Once I got the truck to the dealer they notified me it was a bad water pump and the part was currently on back order. After 1 month they finally got me a water pump, installed it and I was on my way. Now let's fast forward to current day, I am on my third Durango RT and guess what? That's right, it happened again, watch the video and let me know your thoughts.

Same! I had to replace the water pump on my 2009 charger. Then we wrecked it. Now we have a 2014 Durango. I’m taking it to my uncles shop in the AM to see if he can check it out and maybe put a new one on. It’s nice to have an uncle with an auto shop, lol.

Glad you got it it fixed. FCA should be reimbursing owners for this regardless to any aftermarket fixes. And if you're afraid of power washing, just hit up a detailer with a hi-pressure steam washer, or rent one.

King of The Castle 2013 ram 2500, 139k miles no problem, other than a bend rim for going too fast over a rock lol and a few blown tires but it's common for someone who drives on dirt all the time and the regular brake, tires, oil, filter, belt changes and maintenance, durangos are just built poorly my dads 98 5.9L magnum v8 has 400k with original engine and transmission
Your so right . I buy used cars and let the original owner deal with all the problems and recalls then buy the car a few years later for almost thousands less with all replacement parts . Brought a 40k mile 2010 Rav 4 in 2015. No problems turn key and go.

Man that sucks... My problematic throttle body on my 2018 SRT Hellcat Challenger is also on back order with no estimated date for delivery. Craziness that they got issues like that but then don't even have parts to fix their stuff.

I bought a brand new 2018 Durango yesterday and the throttle body stopped working in 180 miles while driving back to home. BTW do we have the same throttle body?
Chrysler is an issue too, we rented a 2017 Chrysler 300c last year to drive from CT to FL, it would randomly lose speed and say service throttle position sensor, we had cruise set at 75 and the car dropped to 20 with no warning or anything and then it seemed as if the gas pedal was through the floor, and we all went flying back in our seats til the car hit the set cruise speed once again WTF?! eventually we lost all power, the car went into limp mode got to the end of an off-ramp and the engine shut itself off we broke down in sc on a 109° day, with my grandmother in the car unacceptable budget and Chrysler!!
I just bought a 2017 Durango R/T with 10k mi and my AC went out. Dealer says its an Evap Core Leak and is on national back order. I live in AZ and have been in a rental for almost 3 weeks with no end in site.

My grandma has a 2017 dodge durango rt and she hasn't had any big problems she has 55K miles on it the only problem was a evap leak

You can change that pump in about 30 mins with a basic tool set...very easy I think it's only like 5 bolts......

Andreux R/T. Just got my altenator done yesterday. The dealers have the Altenators. They just dont wanna do the jobs because they only get 1.1 hours at warranty rate. They would get 1.1 full rate just for inspection diag time plus three hours for replacememt retail.
Same thing happened with my 2011 at 32k miles while I was visiting my brother in the hospital in Ca. I had to fly back to pick it up about a month later. Thank God it was under warranty. I still went out and bought a 2014. I love them.

dude that happen to my Dodge Durango RT also after i was telling them it smells like the car is running Hot. i was in there service line waiting for a rep and then POW!!! all coolant fell all over the floor in there face.. lol.
Sharp looking, man! Still have my 12 Citadel and it goes strong, although had an issue with the thermostat housing sealant that started leaking. Went ahead and replaced the thermostat anyway. Other thing is it has used about .5 qt of 5-20 since brand new. All good - I rock the F outta it.

Man that sucks, I got an aftermarket though the dodge dealer. They did that quietly but my friend is a tech and let know up front. I dropped a 180° thermostat. Thank God it wasn't worse or on the highway.

Fam I've replaced 3 on warranty. I have a k&n intake. The way the upper coolant hose is routed had the hose rubbing the coolant hose also. I needed that post engine bay look. I'm missing that clamp
I had an 09 Ram with a 5.7 and it was solid. I traded it in for a 15 Ram with hemi as well and luckily also havent had an issue. crazy how so many on here are reporting issues. the 09 has 130K no issues or replaced parts. I feel like the 5.7 is bulletproof minus the exhaust header bolt issues which I havent experienced in either truck.
sicc Tv had an 04 Hemi in Michigan for 13 years. I had the heat shields rust away by the end and had to replace a water pump...but I also had 220k miles on it. Lol.

I just bought my wife a new Durango GT with the V6. Its a 2017 that was a demo with 5,000 miles. Not even three weeks after we bought it a valve in the transmission went out. It wouldn’t change into drive nor would it recognize it was in park so you couldn’t turn the car off. This is our second Durango and she felt very let down. We also had to wait on the part but not that bad. We love our Durango, the Black Beauty, so hopefully no more problems.
I've been fighting the Wife on trading in the 12' SRX for a Durango R/T or SRT! Her response is: Dodges are always in the shop, I can't show her this video! Good attitude to have though.

Weird. You got a sick looking Durango though! I have a 2012 Durango R/T I've never ever had any issue with the water pump. It did have an issue with the Fuel Pump Relay which was also recalled that did leave me stranded had it towed into Dealer all good till the numerous Electrical issues started. Getting ready within the next 6 months to trade it off though for the 18 Durango SRT.

Just had the water pump changed today. Started making a funky noise and took it to get checked and YUP! Water pump was bad..... warranty covered it, but sucks.
Coolant from the dealer last much longer. You should change it next year. Also sorry about your water pump, I average 100,000 to 160,000 miles on my factory pumps. My aftermarket replacements have lasted longer on average. I subscribed 2 months ago. Keep doing your thing, B.

I had the same problem.you need to call the corporate office and explain your frustration. I had 6 week delay go down to 10 days.
Furthermore, buying an aftermarket is a better option anyway. Use the rubber seal and use the gray RTV sealer... will never have a problem again

Same thing happened to my 2014 Durango R/T. Luckily it was a lease and once I got it fixed under warranty 6 months later my lease was up...hurray!!! Still miss and love the truck though
2016 R/T with 105.000 KM, yes the water pump was loud and had a small leak was replaced under warranty around 86.000 KM lucky I noticed a drip in the drive, other than that the SUV has been one good little truck no other problems.
I service it at dealer synthetic oil changes two times a year when we change over to snow tires and back to summers. The 5.7 has been smooth running with the 8 speed. I find this dealer to do fine quality work and price is fair, low mileage SUV...So far so good.
Mine started making a faint noise, so I took it in immediately. Took 3 weeks to get a new pump, but FCA did put me into a loaner at no charge and the repair was also covered by the PT warranty. A little disappointing that such a critical part is both so poorly made, and seemingly not made in large enough numbers to support customers.

Wow I didn’t know others were having the same issue. I had my W/P changed in in my 2016 R/T in 2017 at the EastChester road dealer in the Bronx .. it’s been ok so far.. there was no back order on them

I just had mine replaced for free on my 2017 rt. The power train is on extended warranty. So even if you’re like me where your warranty expired, the engine/power train warranty is different and they won’t tell you unless you ask that the power train/engine warranty lasts longer, just ask them. Make sure they don’t try to make u pay for it.

I bought a Subaru WRX back when thryame out here in 2002. After owning it for 3 years transmission ate itself. Found out alot of owners were having the same issue but SOA just said we were racing them and warantee was voided because of abuse. Anyway I ended up getting trans repaired and 2K later had a different problem with it. I upgraded to a trans from the STi model. My point is no matter what you drive the aftemarket or sometimes even the manufacturer has a solution. If you love your ride make it better than factory.

What part of Brooklyn you was in when the Durango broke down?
Fiat Chrysler will usually reimburse you for the water pump since they can’t supply the parts at the moment . My challenger had the alternator recall they couldn’t get the parts . So I got my own replacement and did the job myself . Sent my receipt into the email listed on the letter i got about the recall and received a check for the full amount of the replacement part .

I went though the same problem with my 12 charger police package with the 5.7 hemi. My baby was down for a whole month waiting. I also replaced my radiator, fuel pump, t stat and alternator. Dodge needs to get this shit together.
That’s crazy. I was sooooo close to getting a RT yesterday and the reviews talked me out of it due to the issues. Has some engine , exhaust and taillight issues allegedly. Needed a reliable suv so I couldn’t. Maybe next time

Yes run the heater let the windows down also turn the car on get ur speed up AND coast. Another trick my dad taught me and has saved a few engines in my days
I used that trick on a 98 Sebring driving from Houston to Milwaukee back in 2006. Can't believe i actually made it.

I have a 2017 that has the water intrusion issue in the tailgate light. Only fix is replacement. Here in Canada its an $1800 repair. Part itself is $1350 here. I got one in the US and the part was still $650.

Second waterpump within a year on my 2017 V6. Over 3,000 waterpumps are on backorder. Over 1,500 fuel pumps are also on backorder. The kicker is that the waterpump is a dealer only part.
Happened on my 2015 Dodge Charger SRT 392. Covered my engine compartment in coolant and left me stuck on the side of the road. Got it towed to the dealer and it took them 3 days to find a water pump. Warranty covered it but it was still a pain in the butt to have to go through this due a problem they know exists in these cars.
