- The APR Open PEX Intake System is the best dollar-per-horsepower intake system for the 1.8T/2.0T Engine! We’ve maximized performance and sound dramatically by reducing pressure drop and increasing airflow. This translates to more horsepower and torque, and less physical strain on the turbocharger. The system looks great, sounds amazing, and produces more horsepower and torque you can feel.

Just installed this on my Golf R. It was super easy to install and it sounds great! Quiet when puttering around town at low throttle (almost no difference inside the cabin) and it comes alive under throttle (while still not being obnoxiously loud). I was worried it would be too loud, but it's perfect. Way better value than the carbon fiber which is double the price.
Hey how’s the golf r ?
@@szalonyy_6854 Only thing I want is a more exciting engine note but honestly it's not that big of a deal and the car is perfect. Can't recommend it enough! I will likely only trade up to one of the new RS3s when I can afford a used one.
It’s Ian Baas! He’s one of the biggest reasons why I love APR products so much. I remember the days of him owning his own shop EP Werks in Indy and riding in his stage 3 mk5 GTI. I’ve had APR products ever since! Nice seeing a familiar face, keep up the great work guys!
I love the bloopers haha. Bought one of these intakes today second hand. Super excited!
Does it come with the secondary air filter
Just ordered 😁
Hello is this mini filter with it or do you have to buy it extra
Man I don’t miss those traction issues (3 previous GTI’s). If anyone can, save for the Golf R and never deal with all that wheel hop. Stage 3 now and have yet to even hear a chirp out of the fires

Hi I didn’t get a secondary air filter when I ordered the air intake
will this fit an audi b6 1.8T ?
the secundary air filter comes with the whole package or i have to buy it, or i csn install the intake without the secundary filter 🤔
Just ordered mine
Delivered in 2 days for me 🤧🤧
Any independent dyno proof?? Of any benefit?
You bring this to germany? We got the Carbon one at the german apr shop, missing this ☝️
Man kann ihn schon vorbestellen im deutschen apr shop
@@typeof-undefined-null alles klar, dann ist das aber ziemlich frisch drin :), danke dir
Will it fit on the mk7.5 gti 2018 because on the website it says it doesn’t fit
Mine comes off and the clamp don't hold it had to get a aftermarket hose for it
Does it fit on Audi A5 Sportback 2012 1.8 TFSI CJEB 170Hp
I have just installed this on my s3 and sound nothing like this could I ask why?
Has anybody had a code PO 491 after installing the unit?
2021 Volkswagen GTI.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.
How do I install the gtc 300 wing on the car can't find a single video
We need some Gen3B love
Post the dynos
Ive just recieved my intake but i didnt no i had to get the breather filter.can i install it without the small breather filter
i love the product super easy to install sounds great . 1 issue is pex model keeps popping out from the main part that connects. changed to clamp style screw tight still pops out. im guessing this is due to pex material being very slippery surface. it would have been better to have some rubber or silicone type connection. i have to keep popping back in the connection every oter day until i find a solution . Apr told me to take a pic and send not sure how u can take a picture of something that pops out of its place lol
I just ordered this apr intaker. But my audi 2019 a3 2.0tfsi engine dosent have the smaller secondary filter🤨
Some cars do and don’t have them. I have the exact same intake, but my S3 doesn’t haven the secondary filter, it’s not necessary.
Got mine for my jetta 1.4
Do you need to buy the smaller filter separately?
Car go stutututututututu now. Thank you.
Will it fit for a Arteon 2.0 TSI?
No shipping to Dubai ?
Dooooope I just ordered mine last night
Does this fit on Passats specifically 2018 2.0tsi?
Great video! Seems like a solid product!
Can someone tell or show me where the best place is to put the secondary air intake?
I just got mine and there was no secondary air filter breather included help
Am I correct in thinking the secondary air breather is at a different position on uk cars
Some cars dont need it and just have the little vacuum hose
Any RS6 videos coming soon?
Hi, an intake can turn on the CEL??
If i buy the intake. Do i need to buy the secondary air filter also? Does it come with the pipe?
You have to buy the secondary air breather, it’s like $30
Is the SAI filter included or is that a separate purchase? Doesn't say in product description
Separate. Only some engines need one.
@@APRtube does a 2015 gti need it?
@@APRtube I have a 2020 mk7.5 GTI which does need one correct?
@@HollowM2 Take a look under the hood. If you have the big 1 inch tube coming out of the engine side of the intake, you need it.
@@havoc7152 Take a look under the hood. If you have the big 1 inch tube coming out of the engine side of the intake, you need it.
Genuine question, but are there actually any performance benefits for an open air intake on this particular platform? The stock box on the Mk7/7.5 cars is rather free breathing and it pulls in cool outside air due to its design as opposed to the hotter engine bay air that an open system like this would. Don't get me wrong, I love a good turbo woosh as much as the next, but changing the source of intake air to hotter engine bay air, especially if tuned and during hotter days of the year, would concern me a bit when driven harder or during hot days/longer drives.
The factory system flows well but you run into flow restrictions which lessens power. It causes the turbo to spin faster and faster to reach the same flow levels as this intake system, which will cause you to run into speed limiters on the turbo to prevent it from overspinning. We saw 12 AWHP and 13 AWFTLBS of torque over stock when using this system vs stock.
@@APRtube good stuff, I figured the upfront advantage of the increased airflow from a system like this would help with spool and response so double digit gains on a CAI is definitely nice, was just more concerned about heat soak over time given the source of air and whether the car is more likely to cut boost/power with higher air temps given the source. That said, if it doesn't affect it/is outweighed by the increased flow levels, it's a net gain so wouldn't matter I suppose. Regardless, I've been running your stage 1 software for years on my Mk7 and it's been awesome, wouldn't have a Mk7 without it. Thanks for the reply!
@@Krauser1226 This system it self doesn't exactly heatsoak. That's more of a intercooler thing, or possibly of those metal intake things where the pipes get blazing hot and soaked with heat. Keep in mind it will pull in hotter air than if we made it totally closed off, but you won't hear it as much, it may not flow as much depending on what kind of filter can fit in there, cost you more, and things like that. Also, keep in mind once the car is moving there is a ton of air rushing through the engine bay from the grill. All comes down to what you want really and what your goals are. I think this will hit the mark for most, especially since you can hear the turbo, which adds a new level of excitement to the car on its own.
@@APRtube To make this more factual, APR needs to adjust the Dyno Charts on each on the Staged Tunes; which includes this intake. Bottom line is, a Stock Box with a High Flow filter and snow grate removal does the same exact thing - if not better than any open system you can put on. An IS20/IS38 doesn't require any more air flow than the factory air box set-up. That's a fact.
Intakes and exhausts should have died out in the late 80's, yet organizations are still coming out with these.
This intake performed better than the factory intake in every factory intake configuration.
Does APR sell the SAI filters as well? just shopping and couldnt find it
Yes, part number is CI100020-A
If this fits the Mk2 Tiguan with the EA888 B engine then you need to update your website cause it’s not showing there as a part. At least when I choose 2019 Tiguan SEL Premium RLine. Thanks
Does it fit or not? Maybe it don’t. Please let me know.
It doesn't fit without an adapter needed for the MAF. That's in development.
So I installed this intake awhile ago and had the stock inlet pipe slip off. Ran the stock one again for awhile, but I like the smoothness from this intake that I get. Can you tell me any tips or anything to not have this happen?
Does the filter have to be replace more often that a stock filter? Thanks.
No, also you can remove it and rinse it out and reuse it.
I'm assuming this fits on a 2020 Audi Q3?
Yes
Will this fit on the 2022 Audi Q3 Sline 45 TFSI (USA)? What about carbon fiber turbo inlet pipe? I believe the 2022 and 2021 Q3 have the same engine bay.
Go to urotuning and enter your car specs and then find this specific air filter and it’ll automatically be set for your car.
It does. I have this exact same part on my Q3
I'm so gettn this

Could I make this fit an earlier EA888 engine from a mk6 gti? I don’t mind making a little modification just wondering if it’s possible
I’m late to this but I just got mine for my mk6 gli and I’m gonna make it work I’ll let you know how it goes😂
I know it’s kinda old but were you able to make it work? I was thinking of trying it too considering everything looks like it would mount right up. The only difference I see in the motor is the little coolant return line goes over the front of the intake on the mqb and under it on the non mqb
Does the small secondary air filter come with the intake?
good question, mine did not include it.
No, it's only required for some vehicles, so sold separately.
@@APRtubeI just installed mine. I zip tied the secondary air breather to the vacuum line as it is right next to it. Is that an okay spot?
What would happen if your vacuum line wasn’t plugged in and you drove for awhile
Prob nothing that line doesn't do much
Any plans on offering a kit to relocate the catch can that mounted to the closed CF intake? If this open style flows better than the closed but to use it requires ditching the can, is APR implying the can isn't recommended? I would imagine a bracket that moves the can from to a better spot either further in front of the engine could help.
Not sure why this wasn't considered given the percentage of customers that stack parts from particular vendors like APR.
The can doesn't fit without making this system smaller, unfortunately. We weighed options. Your best bet is to update to the new full catch can system that has the block off plate.
I was wondering the same thing. I've got the APR CF closed intake, but would like to buy this one. Unfortunately, my APR catch can which mounts to their closed intake has never caught anything anyway and the huge hoses just get in the way of everything, so I'll probably just buy this open intake and ditch the useless catch can. Side note: I've been running APR Stage 2+ for 3 years on my '15 S3 Prestige.
Now make it for the Tiguan.

how often will I have to replace the intake filter?
Did you watch video? It is reusable and washable.
Does it actually increase performance or just sound? Don’t lie
I have this on my otherwise stock gti, the performance difference is subtle but the sound is such a big improvement, definitely worth the 190$(correct me if im wrong on the price). But overall, sounds nice, pulls a little better, and looks really nice.

We have a PEX version for the MK6, but it's a closed system.

does the secondary filter come with the kit?
No it doesn't and they don't mention that anywhere until after you buy - and then you can't fit the intake until you spend more money with them! Always working out ways to shaft customers.........
