Great gift idea for almost all ages. I like the fact that the drawings are simple, it takes some pressure off when you are just starting. All the mixed mediums is also a very good idea . Thank you

I received my copy of "50 Ways to Draw Your Beautiful, Ordinary Life". I spent the weekend getting started on the first dozen pages. I really enjoyed the way the book has you build on the drawings. This is the kind of book I'd have LOVED growing up - a fun thing to get for an aspiring young artist as they begin Summer vacation :-)

I have the same book I used a medium sized sketchbook and did a challenge everyday every page got some pencils it improved my art skills it's super fun I definitely love this book a must buy

Great review. I paint, watercolor, oils and acrylics. But when i start to draw .... I start getting out nearly every item i have pencils, chalk, charcoal, conté,....and i just can't stop drawing. So this is a very dangerous book for me ...

I’m really just starting out as a total beginner . I love buildings so the urban sketcher is where I want to go . But before I run I need to walk . Hi, I would like to ask about tools recommended for this book. I got it last week as I was under the impression that it is a draw-along workbook, so that one could draw on its pages. But what kind of pencil/pen would be suitable? What is the paper like, how much moisture does it stand as in very first lessons also colours come along. Watercolor? Acrylics? Felt tip pens? Did they forget to give instructions or am I just very stupid to not figure them by myself?
I wish there was a book that focused on rendering urban sketches and lifestyle editorial illustrations with architecture/interiors that have clearly defined people (not silhouettes of people) in the image. I find it difficult to render these things with any medium and style and it depresses me. Because I have so many sketches from being outdoors or from my imagination of people within an environment but as soon as I add color everything is garbage mush and my shadow composition doesn't look right, the sky is ass if there is a sky, everything is just horrible.

I loved the book and the illustrations, however, I am extremely disappointed with the quality of the paper. Just with pencil and pencil crayons alone the ink on the next two pages have smeared. I mean the ink from the flow images. To draw I use a 5H pencil. For example I drew the teacup and it’s items on the first page, turn the page and the blank page has the images of the teacups from the other side, turn the page, and you can see parts of the lines of the houses. I saved to go get this book as a treat and buy the magazines every month so I thought the quality would , at least equate to the cost. Disappointed.
The paper is not meant for wet media except on the special paper they provide. Pencil works fine. Ink works but there will be impression of lines on the opposite page. Anyway, for the price of the book, the paper quality is good enough. Good paper is expensive.

This paper is good for colour pencils and non-alcohol markers and pens.
