They were planning a launched S&S 4D coaster in the mid 2000s but it got scrapped. The layout would've consisted of a launch, raven turn, fly to lie, followed by a brakerun and an elevator back to the station. The station would've been on the beach so I'm guessing that's what the new pier would've been used for. There was a piece of concept art shown in an old issue of the First Drop Magazine. They were also planning a traditional Intamin hydraulic launch as an alternative.
@harleystubbs6199 they're not footers. For a start, the top hat stands are the other way around to how they are laid out on the prom. Secondly, the prom was renovated way after the plan for the bigger one and those circles are still there. So... yeah...they're definitely not footers
@Harley Stubbs they are just decorative. There is nothing more substantial under them than the rest of the prom. It's one of these things that gets banded around every now and again, but is just a myth.
I wish they made this 😪. It would have been amazing! Doesnt have to be TTD's level in height or speed but it would still have been incredible! The roads wouldnt necessarily be a problem as the park or council of the area could make the road dip underground like a small tunnel underneath the launch and break run. Shame it never got built

Awful video, guy gets almost everything wrong. I’m from Blackpool & this is what I know to be factual from people who work at the park & on the sea front. There was a “bigger one” coaster planned but it wasn’t an intamin launched coaster like Kingda Ka, Top Thrill Dragster, or even Stealth. It was a reverse freefall launch coaster similar to Superman at Magic Mountain. The “footers”, aren’t footers either. They were paving areas for a metal art installation called the Wave Organs that were taken down about 10 years ago. There was never any work started on the project as all it ever was, was talk & speculation. Not to mention the maintenance issues for the tallest rollercoaster in the U.K. to have its highest point out at sea & the issues of having a launched coaster track going over a main public road on the sea front. If anything flies off a rider at those speeds (100mph+) it could seriously injure a member of the public. The council flattened this idea before it even got to the design stage.
They have some amazing coasters but defo need something to be a real stand out slap in the face to other theme parks coaster in the next year or 2, something to rival the big ones in the states, put the pleasure Beach properly on the map ❤
This is close to true, the actual plans were for a launched freefall coaster like Superman The Escape at Six Flags Magic Mountain to blast riders down the tunnel on Watson Road and going vertical before the promenade. The ride then free falls backwards into the station to unload.
