- Guitarist Carlos Rios sat down with us at the Techno Empire warehouse to talk about the some of the special guitars we are selling for him that he used throughout his storied career.
The solo Carlos played on Chick's Corea's 'Cool Weasel Boogie' remains one of my all time favorite guitar solos. He killed that track. Another favorite is the short but very tasty solo he did on Earl Klugh's 'Tropical Legs'.
Totally agree - that and the solo on Gino Vanelli's Brother to Brother.

I had the pleasure of being hired to play a week of rehearsals for Carlos Rios when he was touring with some big artist in Los Angeles. They used to do that. I got paid to rehearse and never do a gig!! Carlos was the best.. The last day, he came to the rehearsal to thank me, and we hung out for the rest of the afternoon... A great hang!! I didn't know him before that, but he couldn't have been cooler!!
That's wild ! So, you'd rehearse in his place because Carlos already knew the music ?
A man with really well polished shoes always deserve respect. 😊 I have spent a large portion of my life trying learn how to play the solo on Brother to Brother. One day maybe I’ll do it…

Carlos such a class act. Though gig being a gun for hire. You have to know your stuff when you show up. Or worse being handed a music sheet to play or fill in the blanks. Can't imagine the pressure.
Carlos Rios is a Phenomenal guitar player. Super under-rated. He is so melodic, and he can Rip . . . with the best of them. Which model Taylor was Carlos playing? oNe LovE from NYC

That first acoustic, I'm 99% sure it's a Taylor 314ce (albeit left handed). I have one that I bought new nearly 20 years ago. They are fantastic instruments.
