this is from Ren community page about this Today is one of my favorite peoples birthday. There was a few times we'd have shared birthday parties cause they were so close together, they were always chaotic and awesome. So this is me sharing my birthday with him once more. Callum was one of those friends who was constant throughout school, he was a year older than me, always positive, always down to get up to whatever stupid shit was on the menu that day. Fond memories of getting older kids to go get us a bottle of vodka, then heading into the woods behind the co-op and getting so drunk we'd usually end up either throwing up or creating ridiculous blurry memories. I loved and looked up to that guy so much. The last time I saw him was ironically at Joes funeral, I'd just won two bottles of wine on the raffle we set up, which was the last time I ever drank alcohol. I decided it would be a sensible idea to drink both, and we had a great send off, felt right all the lads being together in one place, despite the circumstances. Me and call were both absolutely hammered and reminiscing about old times and it felt just like being back in the woods. I got the news Callum had died 6 months after Joe took his life. At the age of 21 it was really difficult for me to process that two of my best friends could die in such a short space of time. Joe dying had hit me so hard that I was almost unable to process Callum going shortly after. I wanted to write something for him for such a long time to pay tribute, but there was a mental block and nothing ever felt right. One day I was sat by my piano and I started to play with no real intention, and this song came out of me that had no words, just music, and for some reason it managed to express what I wasnt able to with words. It felt fitting to hold onto it and release it for his birthday. This is for Callum Mackay, coming out this thursday Love and miss you always.
Never heard of this guy before, he's pretty talented. I'll have to check out some of his other stuff, I was waiting for him to start singing too. Kinda had a warm-up vibe going, but like you said .. I couldn't do it.
❤💙💜The 3 Ren dropped before are this are 🔥🔥The one that dropped 2 weeks before this one is Halftime Nas retake. It's back to back bars. The one 2 weeks before that, Back on 74/Message in a Bottle Retake has everything but the kitchen sink in it. Callum died in an accident 6 months after his friend Joe took his life. He wanted to write a song but couldn't find the words. One day this came out. It tells the story through the music from his perspective.
I think they would both appreciate some of his vocal music. He's so diverse it's actually hard to direct someone to a song by him. If I had a suggestion it would be ren x chinchilla, sexual healing live, marvin gay cover. busking( uk name for a street performance) but they nwill discover it naturally themselves hopefully. X
Ren went years misdiagnosed with depression bi polar chronic fatigue syndrome he had a recording deal with Sony in 2010 why working on his album he got sick and couldn't finish it so they parted ways he move back to Wales he would become bedridden for up 23 hours a day the meds they had him on caused him to have psychosis he got PTSD too but not from meds it would take years before he would get right diagnosis he has Lyme disease he went so long misdiagnosed that he has Brain damage Organ damage Joint damage he has had 2 stem cell transplants done he in Canada right now getting treatment done he has to have IV 5 days a week they put this thing on his head that help open path ways in his brain he also has ADHD too he has to take hand full meds 2 times a day he can only eat 2 kind of beef and few Vegetables because the autoimmune causes his body to have allergic reaction to just about everything he eats
Hi guys, Yes you're gonna have to checkout Nas/Halftime and Back on 74/message in a bottle. These 2 releases will not disapoint. BTW It's suggested thinking about someone you have lost and miss dearly on this tribute to Callum Mackay Love❤ and peace ✌ from D in the UK 🇬🇧
What a nasty and disrespectful commentary from the guy in this reaction, about a beautiful and heartfelt requiem to a late friend of Ren's. It's sad that you couldn't see the beauty and enotion in it... Ren plays the piano pretty damn well! Especially as, along with everything else, he's self-taught. I've seen enough reactions to this, from professional musicians, to know that Ren played well, bar a couple of double key contacts. Is he a concert pianist? No, of course not. Is he a good pianist? Yes, he is! It's just another addition to all his other talents. Even if you didn't like it, there was no need for the snideness and the attempt to belittle and undermine. Especially considering the subject matter...
Did you watch the entire video, or are you just some troll? At no point did I belittle him, and if you mattered, I'd be the one offended. But you obviously didn't watch the entire video and instead shoved your head in your ass. Thank you for wasting my time as usually I wouldn't comment to drivel like this, but being I'm a very big fan of Rens, I'm not going to just let shit like this go unanswered. I am a former studio musician, and my comparison was spot on. Sorry you don't like it. Now bugger off.
@truebrodown He got in his feels needed to vent. Ive seen your Ren videos and you're always very complimentary. I didn't know Ren did instrumentals either.
@@truebrodowncomparing this piece to someone warming up to play the piano? If you had a tenth of this man's talent you'd be lucky, now as you tell others bugger off
Love it so much. Beautiful tribute.
At least one of you showed some respect 👍
Ren is always unexpected. And always amazing.

Check out HI Ren. We reacted to it and gave us goosebumps.
@@truebrodown goosebumps confirmed.
He very very good and different. As a progressive metal guy he has been my music world since I found him.

Appreciate it. We know about some of his music, but overall, we are pretty ignorant of his story. We know he has lime disease, but that's about it.

If looking for a Ren performance, he doesn't do much on that one. Chinchilla is great if you're going for a chinchilla reaction.
@sigally you're right actually. Sometimes I forget that sexual healing and one dance/drunk in love were performed in the same busking session
"Unexpected" is Rens motto lol.

@truebrodown that's almost hilariously funny more than you know. I'm ex Army now I really wish I was SBS haha
