Callum drowned less than 8 months after Joe Hughes died. He went swimming in stormy conditions and tragically his friend lewis Darroch also drowned when he jumped in to try to save him. Ren really struggled to process Callum's passing so soon after Joe

I understand also. It only recently occurred to me that in my mid-60's I am the oldest living member of my father's blood line and the second oldest of my mother's. Grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, even some cousins have gone ahead. So many memories. In my case my wife and I have three children (no grandchildren), nieces and nephews and almost 40 great nieces and nephews, so we are far from the last, but we are among the very few who remember the previous generations.
David Bowie once wrote an album about a person from outer space called Ziggy Stardust who came to Earth saving humanity with his music, well Ziggy is here for real and his name is Ren.

@satyasunshine9737 I was only 5 in 1972 and Ziggy Stardust was already a favourite of mine thanks to having a sister who was 12 years older than me and used to love playing her records for me, it gave me my love of Led Zepplin, Donovan, James Taylor, Carole King, The Bealtes, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, Cat Stephens, The Kinks and so many more I owe so much to my big sis.
Ren had wanted to write a song for Callum for years but the words wouldn't come. One day he was playing piano and, out of nowhere, this melody appeared, and it expressed everything he wanted to say. Without words
I loved that during the premier he was in chat and mentioned that this song has no words... so it was written for Callum, but he wanted us to think of anyone we loved and lost while listening to it. That truthfully it was for all our lost loved ones. Seriously shows his heart through his art.
Ren is made of music
Ren is a INCREDIBLE gift to anyone who isn't afraid to open their heart up and I honestly think after hearing over 200 songs he truly is a musical savant that can ignite a broken flame in broken people 💙

This is in Drumheller, in Calgary (Canada). It's where you go to find dinosaur bones and fossils. I just picture walking through the canyon, head down, looking at rocks.... and hearing this bouncing off the walls. It would've been magical. I sure hope someone had that experience. What makes Ren different is he doesn't hear music.. he feels it.
Drumheller isn’t in Calgary. Calgary is its own city in the province of Alberta. Drumheller, the town, is about 1.5 hours east of Calgary. The area is called The Badlands.

I’m very rarely into purely instrumental music, but this somehow felt like Ren was playing words. And this is coming from the man who is so often praised for being a brilliant lyricist as one of his main talents. Yet he didn’t need a single word to express his emotions in this one. A stunning and perfect tribute to his friend 🖤🐰🕳️
The location is just outside of Calgary! I’ve got a ton of family that live in Calgary & it’s beautiful country!! ❤ This instrumental got to me too! I’ve listened to this SO many times! I’ve heard his mom was a piano teacher, but I’m not sure on that! 🤷🏻♀️
I think she was a vocal coach but I could be wrong ...
Ren said she was a singing teacher, but that he never took lessons from her, being her son. He used to play piano in the school library at lunch, from an early age, but he is untrained in all forms of music. Amazing!

The rock formations Ren is playing in are called The Hoodoos at Drumheller in the Alberta Badlands not far from Calgary. I have wonderful childhood memories of running around there with my siblings and cousins, they are just stunning in person. A perfect setting for this piece, which is quickly becoming my favourite, it's just beautiful! Glad to see you guys back this week!
It's a beautiful piece. When you think you can't love him any more he drops this! I read the news report of what happened and another young lad died trying to save his mate. Tragic. My heart breaks for the 20 yr old Ren and his mates. Condolences ♥to everyone whose lost someone. uk
an artist who is not afraid to show you something you never knew you needed to hear. but he does.. . i dont think there is an artist who just does it, whatever it is. not controlled by a corperation who just wants number ones. he wants you to feel, experience, think etc. i dont think genius is a bigger enough word for him.

This song made me think of my mum who passed but brought memories of her playing vinyl of Richard clayderman, which as kids she would play to get us kids to dissappear, but I loved this , ren so good at his art eh.

I lost my Dad a little over a year ago.
Everyday I picture leaning over my Dad trying to resuscitate him... When I listen to this I close my eyes and picture every happy moment that my Dad and I shared. For this, I say thank you, Ren, for sharing this personal moment with us. 💔❤️

Then he did the Jungle song Back on 74... in which he said "shout out to Nas"...
So then he released Nas retake, with "RIP" to the legends of rap...
So after that he gives us the RIP piece for Calum... wearing the Sublime sweater.

You also have to bear in mind that he is self-taught. Piano teachers say that he plays a little stiff in his fingers. But that would be ok for me if I could play like that.🎹
