I’m very rarely into purely instrumental music, but this somehow felt like Ren was playing words. A stunning and perfect tribute to his friend 🖤🐰🕳️
I think you're interpretation was great! It's yours. Callum died in an accident 6 months after Joe died. The last time they saw each other was at Joe's funeral. Callum died 6mos later. That's the last time they saw each other. Ren was hit so hard with Joe. In "For Joe", he says distance is my plaster cast. I think that's the shift your hearing. Ren explains this in his description. He couldn't grieve anyone after Joe. He could never find the words, one day this song came out of him with no words.
It's just like Ren that this composition doesn't really fit into a genre. That's Ren, genre-less. It sounds like a blend of classical and contemporary to me. It's also amazing how a instrumental can tell a story. Great respect in your reaction! 🎉

As the first comment says. And yes, I also thought - classical piano piece. Interestingly, after hearing it, I went chasing Chopin (one of my favourites) - something about it made me think of his music. Maybe it was just that it moved me in the same way that some of Chopin's music does.

Read the description, but this is his second best friend that he lost in less than six months so he wrote a song about Joe who is the first one and this is Callum the second one and he said he had write his block for many years every time someone diedhe just sat down at the piano one day, not too long ago and this came out of them and he felt it all go away. By the way, after the part where he goes crazy near the end a butterfly goes right in front of him. I’m surprised you missed it twice. Nobody has pointed it out yet. It’s kind of surprising it’s a yellow butterfly so it’s kind of hard to see, but they say that that’s, someone reincarnated close to saying goodbye. Whether or not that’s true I have no idea but pretty ironic.

I agree but the person from all this flows from, is Bach, probably the most influential musician who has ever lived!
@@supertuscans9512 Certainly the most fecund, and I agree with you, but I think when introducing modern ears to classical keyboards, particularly to someone who liked Ren's piece, Moonlight Sonata would be easier to digest than something by Bach, who wrote before the modern piano was even invented. One step at a time.

Why do so many people keep saying "MÀCKIE"… It's disrespectful to mispronounce his name. Say it like Mack-K, but as one word. Mackay... There ya go. It's not hard.
I wouldn't call it disrespectful. People pronounce things the way they see it if not heard before. My grandmother's second husband was a Mackay. She was born in the Virgin Island with a bit of an accent, but either way she pronounced it Mac - K or Key, two separate syllables, not one syllable Mackie. Some have said Mack-eye, to me sounds odd. So it's how we hear things from other sources that influence us most of the time. I hear a lot of mispronunciations by a lot of people some in the "news" business and it frustrates me, but nothing I can do about it. When I'm not sure I sometimes will call my local library, speak to a librarian and give her or him a word and ask how it is "normally" pronounced by Americans, or any other nationalities sometimes. Anyway, it's not disrespectful, it's just they do not know, but will learn, we hope.
