I know taylor didn't write this song about what it means to me but to me this just speaks so deeply to being sexually assaulted by someone you have known forever, it breaks me every single time. That's the joy of music it can heal us all differently
No matter what you do, you cannot bring back flowers that have died. Sometimes, our lowest moments are the ones that are the most healing, even if we don’t realize it in the moment. Retrospectively, you realize that you’re finally clean ❤
I love this one. In my mind the Black Dog is related to this situation, but comes before Clean. “6 weeks of breathing clean air, but I still miss the smoke.” The Black Dog is when you are still sad and angry after a break up. Clean is acceptance and healing.
Have you heard the song Taylor collaborated with on Gracie Abrams' latest album? The song is called Us and Taylor co-wrote on it. On the segment of the song Taylor writes on, she says "and what felt like fate, give it 10 MONTHS and you'll get past it" 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
She was only 24-25 when this album was produced. How does a 24-25 year old know this stuff. Or they may know it but don’t understand. I’m in my 50s and just getting this level of awareness.
I took the meaning as addicted to someone and you know they are bad for you, so you have to cut it off. "Just because you're clean don't mean you don't miss it", and "now that I'm clean, I'm never gonna risk it" - because even a small lapse of letting them in can mean you're back, all in.
AB, you were starting to do so well with responding and respecting our comments on your videos. Now I see you have gone down to one like, no responses and this was days ago. Other channels are responding to our comments and that feels amazing. It doesn’t feel like you want to interact with us and that’s hurtful. You often ASK for information and comments but you never respond back. It’s a mixed message and idk how to feel. I LOVE your channel, your personality, your wit and humor, your unending enthusiasm to understand her lyrics and/or videos on your Taylor videos; I’d even consider you to be a #Swiftie because you do the work to understand and it’s so much fun to watch your videos. Your smile is contagious and when you catch an Easter Egg, it is so satisfying to watch you put things together. To see you actively ignoring the people who took the time out of their day to watch and then comment on your videos makes me feel really bad. 😔 Love your shirt! This was a fire reaction, as always. 🫶🏼
This song is about the lawsuit she won in Colorado when she visited a radio station and the DJ groped her during a photo shoot. She complained to the radio station, they investigated and the DJ was fired. He sued her for millions and she countersued for one dollar. She won, but it was a long battle and was emotionally draining.
@@deaditeera sorry! Taylor talked about the lawsuit (was it the Reputation tour?) about how a year ago she won a lawsuit, then started playing “Clean”. So I thought that’s what she wrote the song about. Thanks for letting me know!
@@jessvigliotti9361 thanks for letting me know! She talked about it on the Reputation tour (I think), then sang “Clean”, so that’s why I thought it was about the trial.

“Just because you’re clean don’t mean you don’t miss it” some of Taylor’s best metaphorical writing.
❤❤❤❤❤
My favorite line is "by morning, gone was any trace of you," as in, 'the next day,' morning, but also 'mourning,' 'by mourning' you were gone.
This is one of my top favorite Taylor songs, I think it's underrated tbh!

Her performance after winning her sexual assault trial was so powerful it makes me emotional every time.

Clean is quite possibly my favorite TS song. The lyrics are so healing. ❤️🩹

Just connected that the flowers they planted are dying of thirst, but in Fortnight her lover's wife waters flowes and she wants to kill her.
😮😮😮😮😮😮
WAIT…..BYE BC ALSO ‘10 MONTHS SOBER’ AND ‘I WAS A FUNCTIONING ALCOHOLIC’!!!!
This is about getting over Harry Styles. There are references in the video to Style and Out of the Woods.
She sure writes addiction well. Hits home.
She wrote this song about her being sexually assaulted. He tried to sue her because he lost his job over it, she counter sued for $1 and won.
@KariJoLukowski I guess we all interpret this song differently. At times I interpret it as addiction, and at times I interpret is a relationship.
This is one of my favorite songs by Taylor!! It is gorgeous ❤
Me too ❤❤❤❤
Mine too! this woman and the writing! She doesn’t miss

Ooooof swifties assemble I am here for it!! Another good one thank you 🥹
Just learned this song with the re-release and I'm Obsessed with it!!!
This is my favorite song from Taylor. Always hits like a ton of bricks 🩷
That is a beautiful song and video.
Thank you and I hope you feel better soon.
This is in my opinion her best lyric video
“The drought was the very worst”. Drought that didn’t water the flowers OR it was the time she was without him.
Love this one!
Love this song!❤️
One of my favs! ❤️
This is so pretty and creative and it’s just a lyric video! She went all out for this!
I love her mind ❤
One of my favorite underrated 1989 songs.
top tier song for sure!!!
Call me crazy but her piano version of this is 🥹🙏😭
Live on the reputation tour….unbelievable. ❤❤❤

What a beautiful way to close an album which deals with messy relationships!
My favorite from 1989

Watch his live from last night. You’re probably why he addressed a few things 😂
The twilight trees😂😂😂 I love you lol
This is one of my top Taylor tracks… and that was even before I realised that Imogen Heap was involved. Imogen Heap is the GOAT!
I love this song! I hope you feel better today 7:29
Nice reaction❤ I hope you are feeling okay
Assembled!!! 😂🎉❤
Top 5
I always see Twilight trees in her videos😂!
How could you not be stuffed up? Pollen count around here the last two weeks has been insane!!! Thanks for battling through AB!
SU and play the video geesh !
Thank you for the reaction! Now go back to bed! Drink some tea with honey, take some ibuprofen and rest. We’ll be here when you feel better.
❤
How bout those chiefs AB 😊 we did it
1989 original and taylors version are basically about Harry Styles when it comes to relationship songs
AB got the 'rona!!
This is the one song off 1989 that I much prefer the original edit because you can’t hear Imogen Heap as well
Are your kids back at school? Because I used to catch a cold every Sept/Oct as my kids brought home virus after virus! Hope you feel better soon.

Interesting theory, but the lawsuit was in 2017. 1989 album with this song on it was released 3 years prior to that.
No it’s not about that
It’s about Harry Styles
