  • Alex Jones' lawyer Norm Pattis challenged Judge Barbara Bellis' decision to deny his motion to play the Megyn Kelly interview, arguing that the judge has no legal basis. "There's no there is no legal basis stated. I'm entitled to that under the practice book," Pattis said. "I believe that he argued it for 20 minutes, and I think the record is clear attorney Pattis," Bellis responded.

    Should have entered the interview into evidence during discovery. The judge has no obligation to allow any particular thing into evidence at this point in the trial. People can clutch their pearls and call bias all the want, but it’s the reality of how our legal system works.

      @@zach3955 I am on Alex Jones's side. I don't think he should be censured for his free speech, and I don't personally believe what he said about Sandy Hook is defamation. HOWEVER, if your lawyers don't abide by the rules that the court sets forth for proper procedure, then the defense has only themselves to blame when the judge comes down hard on them. Their actions and attitude towards the procedure was unwise, because now they have negotiated away any chance they had to have a serious look at Alex Jones's actions as being constitutional.

    For note: If you want to have a normal trial... you have to participate in trial. You can't refuse to respond to discovery, respond with lies claiming you provided the requested records except not doing that, and go forward as if you have any right to a normal trial. You forfeit that when you act in bad faith and do not participate in discovery like a human being.

      So far from what I looked into, 'Heresay' is exempt when the subject matter, which is strangely not allowed to be used by the Defense, has already brought up in trial, by the plaintiff. This is on record so that's why this activist judge can't just dismiss the claim against her ruling.

If he actually engaged and complied instead he could have had a lot more to say for himself.     What was said on another show has no place in this trial. Alex Jones and his council thought that they could draw this out forever by refusing to comply with court ordered discovery. He has been found liable for his claims by way of default judgment and whatever was said on Meghan Kelly only serves to confuse the jury about if the statements were untrue. This is about how much he owes the families for his claims which have already been adjudicated as defamatory. It’s really that easy.

He cannot at this juncture bring up such claims because that phase has ended. Had he complied with the court ordered discovery he certainly would have been able to use this information. Statute of limitations is only relevant to if you are liable, not how much you are liable for if you are liable

I would need to look up all the dates, but the lawsuits obviously were put in motion long before these trials, probably even before Meagan Kelly. It takes a while for certain cases to come to trial.

    Must be nice to have a judge that sides with the plaintiffs and rules that the very evidence the plaintiffs referenced in a lawsuit can't be allowed in by the defense.

      If it were exactly the same, they wouldn't need to enter it as another exhibit. Sounds like the defense is trying to introduce the full 50-minute interview (likely Jones repeating his lies over & over to Megyn Kelly, not adding any facts) where the defense offered shorter excerpts. Jones's lawyer should be able to work with those same excerpts.

    Mr. Grandstander, Norm Pattis clearly states @ 2:50 that "Exaggeration and Motive was his team's defense"....that alone shows the cavalier handling of this case by the Defense. Their Goal is to bamboozle, tap dance and side swipe the Jury with a bunch of miss-directed legal jargon in hopes of getting JUST ONE PERSON to Tap out and throw in the towel for a mistrial.
