      Real reply, it's because of where the court screens are. Most modern courts with fixed location big screens are laid out like that, it's only the old ones where TVs have to be wheeled about in front of each group in the court.

      The Plaintiff's lawyer was asking a series of questions that would either contradict the court's earlier rulings or force Jones to violate the courts orders no mater how he answered. Pattis' objection was entirely on the Plaintiff's lawyer improperly using the court's early rulings. He was correct which is why the judge had to sustain his objection.

    Oof. I can't tell if the jury is present or not, but presuming they are, this sort of dressing down in front of the jury only hurts the attorney's credibility. Every lawyer has made this mistake before in the heat of litigation, but it normally doesn't continue to happen or result in this sort of admonishment.

      This is all to determine how guilty he is vis a vis the pain and suffering he has caused, and the monetary reward for that. All of the questions are trying to show that Jones is not at all contrite, and does not acknowledge what he has done. That will not go well for him.

    If Jones is guilty or not, he is entitled to a fair trial and unbias judge. Jones' attorney is arguing his points based on the law. Plaintiffs' attorney is being emotional for the camera. Judge is petty. And why have a sidebar and then keep the mics on so we hear it. She has lost control of her court.
