For me #1 reason for a job is to collect that paycheck in exchange for completing their required tasks. Not to find a friend or a dating partner.

I had that happened to me at my work, but a good tip I use is eye on the prize and keep your expectations low. Also still learn to be nice to everyone even the difficult coworkers. I also found when you show up for work, on time, every week and do your job well while being a team player, upper management will notice and it looks good for you.

These workplace advisors usually give useless advice because people who behave like this are narcissists. So all this advice is basically telling the person who is on the receiving end of a narcissistic person's bad behavior is to just keep being victimized.

Thank you for this enlightenment. I am currently subbing for a assistant teacher, 4 more weeks to go. I am a retired elementary teacher with 12 years of good schools under my belt. The current lead teacher (in the same class room) doesn't acknowledge my good ideas and responded with "No, I am in charge." She only communicates when she feels happy (personal problems?). She won't let me speak with students about their learning problems and interferes and leads them away. I don't find her kind with the little ones and they seem to be intimidated by her. A few weeks ago she was sick and I taught the class with a new assistant and we had so much fun and no crying kids, no drama. It was the relief I needed. I decided not to confront her for the sake of the kids and because the end is in sight but will address it with the principal when I leave. I know she feels threatened by me as she uses some ideas from me earlier without giving me credit.

I started a new job a while back where mistakes could turn into tragedies or serious complaints. One team member persistently ignores me when saying good morning, whilst looking only at those they are saying it to. Otherwise, they seem friendly enough and helpful when they are showing me stuff. On occasion, they do say something or suggest a course of action that I disagree with and on a couple of occasions recently it has turned out that what they told me was wrong. I just thank them now, or partially acknowledge what they said if there is a nugget of some truth in what they say, and then ignore their advice and and do my own thing. I kind of get the impression that they think themselves a bit a cut above me because they hold certain responsibilities other team members at my grade don't hold. I wouldn't say that the team is toxic, but there are some worrying elements there. I find the best thing is to just be friendly, professional and polite and treat everyone equally and not to take any passive aggressive behaviours seriously. I focus on doing my job well. I'm not a serious threat because I am too new and have too much to learn. I guess that helps dampen down any likelihood of anyone being threatened by me as they are much better at the job than I am.

I got your point, but I have a situation where I was hired as a head bartender, and bar manager in a restaurant and my job was to create 10 seasonal cocktails, manage the bar, etc. When I started working, I saw the bartender was close to the owners/managers and he decided a lot of things that I was supposed to do, He always complained about my job, tried to make me look bad, He did not want to follow a recipe or follow the steps of service, but he brings coffee to one manager, red bull to another manager. In the end, I lose my job, cause this guy was an ass-kisser and want my position.
He Ignore me, Ignore the recipe, the rules, everything, like cmon I'm the owner's friend. and this type of situation makes owners and managers so blind. My question is why people do not see when they are in a manager position, the same things they saw when they were an employee, that there always this guy with no talent for the job but he tries to compensate it flattery

My co-worker tells me to that i need to update her on details concerning my work so that if anyone asks, she will be able to answer. Yet she witheld info necessary for the successful completion of my job scope as she would receive info from various parties routed to her first since she is the overall i/c. She never discuss anything in person with me citing busy schedule but either would text me in tje night or weekends what we need to do when meeting the client the next day, leaving me scrambling to prepare myself.

Yeah NO. IGNORING this person who is ruining your work reputation by telling you everything you do is wrong or critical of the work you’ve been assigned after it is done or asking you to do something and three seconds after you have instructed the 50 people around you to do it, immediately stop everyone and tell them… quote
NOOOO, you don’t have to do that just do what you have been doing.

What do all these so-called advisors in the workplace tell the victim of emotional and mental abuse and sabotage to put up with it grin and bear it, ignore and keep working?
Why do they encourage victims to keep being victimized?. And assume everything will work out. Don't they know that a cancer if not taken care of will spread?.
To me, that's no different than if somebody is being physically abused to tell him well. Just put up with the beatings grin and bare it and stay focused. Maybe eventually Superman will come in and rescue you.
