I have to say, officers really need to do more for stalking victims. There’s not “nothing you can do”, you can go over to the stalkers house and AT MINIMUM let them know they’re on their radar!!! Give some kind of feeling of security to the victims!! Just because you don’t personally see someone harassing someone, that shouldn’t mean “there’s nothing we can do”, it’s your ENTIRE JOB to protect people, not just try to solve the crime afterwards because you couldn’t protect them!
And then the police go to the stalker's house, and let the stalker know they are on the police's radar. And then what happens after? @greatestnitemare6626 I mean people have to know there's a restraining order against them. There's just not much to do until the stalker actually commits a crime
Walsh, what a toxic, entitled bastard. If his car getting stuck isn’t an example of instant karma, I don’t know what is. Also, it’s fascinating to hear the two 911 calls. When listening to them side by side, I can really hear the difference between them.
He sounds nonchalant in the phone call and he obviously was since he was calm enough to take a candy wrapper with him. Also only a complete moron of a hunter would hunt huge game like Elk with a 22 Caliber. 22’s are meant for rabbits and other small game but they will do the job on humans.
They thought he kept doing chores on her property "to win her favor" but I disagree... He was just doing the chores as a front so that when she reported him to the police for being on her property, they would say that he wasn't doing anything wrong. And that is exactly what happened. SMH.
If he was truly on her property, she could have pressed trespassing charges. That's a glaring discrepancy and possibly a major issue if the police said they couldn't do anything. The only issue I can see is proving he was on her property, but surely there must have been witnesses besides her.
maybe, but tbh I thought he might have been using it as an excuse for some pervy snooping (hey, let me help you tidy up, I'll just bring this to the bedroom, oops, was that your panty drawer?) either way, he had baaaad intentions...
@@encycl07pedia-i doubt police said they couldn’t do anything could’ve just said that to speed things up in the show. @@flyingchimp12 Incorrect. The cops, who were all men, actually SCOLDED Pam for repeatedly reporting Walsh's conduct - what the cops called "MINOR infractions" or "petty crimes" - and they even had the AUDACITY to tell her that Walsh "sounded like a pretty GOOD guy who REALLY liked her" and that she "should just give him a chance and go out with him". They NEVER even ran a background check on him, attempted to contact him nor anyone he knew. NOTHING, other than blame the VICTIM and try to force her to date him! That's when she stopped going to the police, even after her keys went missing, and tried seeking guidance and assistance from her Pastor.🙄🤦♀️🤬
How did this man still have a wife? Like, she stayed married to him through EIGHT assault accusations and a murder trial??! He was actively stalking a woman I mean Jesus Christ! Was she just clueless or didn't care? Wtf!
Another amazing case! Kudos to the forensic scientists who caught the creep who couldn't face being rejected. Rot in hadeas. R.l.P. Pam God bless the boyfriend.
I agree .. she was adamant about the boyfriend coming by. I figured it was the co-worker first 10 min.. he got his car stuck fleeing then had to come up with a story as to why he was there
The cops always say “there’s nothing we can do until he does something” but that’s not entirely true. They could have talked to him and warned him they were watching his behavior, and they could have helped her with a restraining order (at least for her house if they worked together). Her employer probably dropped the ball too if he was harassing her at work assuming she reported it of course. I guess this is why it’s important to report these guys at work for harassment before it escalates further.
@@connormccann5172 Trespassing was another crime he was committing if he was on her property. It makes little sense why that prosecution avenue was not pursued.
Restraining order wouldn't work nor it would be given. They never had a dating relationship. If it's non domestic, it is much more difficult. It's just a piece of paper. He would've murdered her anyway. Also, they should have charged him with trespassing.
Stalking was not a crime at the time, unfortunately. The very first state to pass a law against stalking was California and that was in 1990, years after this case.
For the times he showed up at her house to do chores, she never had him trespassed off the property. She was probably afraid he would retaliate. She would have to trespass him, the police don't just do that.
Years ago, I started dating someone and her and I both started receiving very vulgar and threatening letters. We went to the police and they basically told us that there was nothing they could do until there was an actual assault, etc. And we were like "that's what we're trying to avoid." Thankfully nothing came of it, but the response from law enforcement was not very comforting.
I've watched this show from its beginning, also the CSI shows, and one called Autopsy:the Last Hours of,but I always come back to Forensic Files. The reasons people do the evil they do,and how science catches them,is for me,an endless fascination.
They didn't want to, as all the cops were men and they empathized with Walsh. They scolded Pam for reporting him and tried SHAMING her into giving him a chance and dating him because he "sounded like a GOOD guy" who was trying very hard for her. They're DISGUSTING and they deserved their own punishment for what they ALLOWED to happen to Pam! 💯💯🙄🤦♀️🤬🤬
i believed larry from the start...and then when i heard walsh's 911 call its not what he said its how he said it "all u have to do is look at her" it had a sinister proud like tone...tbh he sounded like a serial killer taunting police... and larry's story made sense, and he showed emotion and discomfort in his interview as well as real panic on the 911 call instead of feigned
Funny you mention that. Other clowns on other episodes said "Oh it's soooo obvious he/she is the killer, because they sound overly dramatic on the phone!!!!!!!!" Ridiculous. Everyone handles a situation differently.
The knife was wiped clean, but I’m sure if they sprayed it with Luminol, it would light up in the seam of the wooden handle. Can’t clean down in there..
"Wiped clean" is a term that means that the FINGERPRINTS or other indicators of who handled the object were INTENTIONALLY removed. It doesn't actually mean the object was cleaned of blood.
"Both man had peculiar stories." The boyfriend was invited over, found her dead and fled, fearing the killer was still there. Ok...how is that peculiar?
This case reminds me of the Seinfeld episode in which Elaine heard about her boyfriend who was taken to the hosptal after a car accident. She stopped off first to buy some jujyfruits candy on her way to the hospital.
The police are the SAME people who ALLOWED Walsh to HARASS & KILL Pam! AND before it came to that, they also tried SHAMING & GUILTING HER into dating "such a GOOD guy", seeing as how he had put in all that effort to do HER chores on HER property WITHOUT her asking him! They NEVER even ran a background check on him after Pam had gone to them for help NUMEROUS times, which would have waved the red flags of his ABUSIVE history! 💯💯🙄🤦♀️🤬
So sad that she couldn't get a proper restraining order, of some sorts against that maniac! Or at least get a German shepherd 🐕 dog, if you're suspecting someone is stalking
Or get a gun and seduce them to come in your home. Then bang, bang. In my opinion that's the best way to defend yourself against stalkers, because they never give up. I've seen many such cases. Better be to early then too late.
A man broke into my home and came straight for me. I told him I was armed and didn’t believe me, until I loaded a round as loudly as possible at his head. He finally turned and ran, and I now have a Rottweiler too. The best part was two days later he broke into another woman’s home and was caught by her alerting the whole neighborhood and chasing him into a business. That a woman caught him was my favorite part!
@2:50.. i know all too well that grief and emotion that just swelled up in his throat as he spoke about finding her.. his "oh my goodness".. was because he was shocked that he wasn't able to hold back those tears.. mixed with the loss of words that h had... bless him.
The boyfriend, Larry, clearly loved Pamela and was thinking of a future with her. I can only imagine how he must have made his peace with this senseless act of violence and psychosis. I hope he has found happiness and peace.
Ladies if you ever get in a situation where a guy is obsessed with you, do a gross-out! When I worked with sex offenders it really worked. Ex. dig in your nose, butt, spit, burp, and fart out loud. Look messy and smell bad. Be rude, loud, classless. Eat a bunch of garlic and entertain their conversation by wanting to talk directly in their face. Make sure you do whatever it takes to make their sick fantasy of you go away. I still do this when I pull into a gas station and don't want to be bothered by some guys there. I get out of my car walking like I'm knot kneed, cocked-eyed, scratching my butt, while pretending to talk to my imaginary friend.
Does anyone ever notice on these shows that nobody ever has a phone at their house.. people are always finding a dead body and then running a mile away to call the police
I'm wondering why the police couldn't do anything about Walsh beforehand. Other commenters have said that stalking wasn't a crime at the time--fair enough. But they said Walsh was going onto her property and doing yard chores for her without her permission. That sounds like trespassing to me.
What I think is that she already was being threatened by her coworker or had already been shot at least once when she asked her bf to please “come over”. I think it was staged by the coworker to make it look like the murderer was the boyfriend. He called 911 after the boyfriend did, as planned. The boyfriend was right. The murderer was still in site.
This remind me of the poor 17 year old girl killed by the 28 year old man at Wendy's. She told her supervisor he was harassing her and all they did was change shifts. He killed her at work
This case was different from others having two men at the same house, two men calling 911 with different stories, and two men who knew the victim. A very unusual situation indeed, no wonder investigators believed them to be suspects. But the bad guy here was Patrick Walsh who harassed Pamela Sweeney at her job, will not take “no” for an answer, blood stains in his clothes, etc. Forensic science solved this case along with good detective work. Poor Pamela, called her boyfriend Larry to be with her and instead found death at the hands of a mentally, deranged, evil man, Patrick Walsh. The more I watch cases like this one, the more I am glad I am single. Glad that Patrick Walsh was caught and was found guilty of first degree murder and sent to life in prison. He was a ticking bomb ready to explode walking the streets, a very dangerous man who cannot hurt another woman again. Rest In Peace always, Pamela. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
There's plenty they can do .. go over and make contact with the stalker is one and say her your on our radar. At the very least... Cops are disgustingly lazy
Elk hunting with a .22? That’s weak. Who hunts an elk with a .22? Elk is likely to just stomp you if you shot one with that. This guy wasn’t just an evil person, he was a exceptionally stupid person. He deserved everything he got.
He was a suspect in multiple assaults against women and a suspect in TWO murders, but when she called police to report him stalking her the police weren’t able to do anything? 🤔 If we had laws making false accusations a prosecutable offense, maybe police would be able to do something about stalkers before it gets escalated to a physical assault or murder. 🤷♀️
This one of my fav episodes, finding all seeds and leaves, things people never really cares about. RIP Pam, poor lady, she should have told her bf about stalker.
@@synergisticcollusion134 I didn't blame her, don't get your undies twisted. The more people know about a harassing stalker, more protection receives from the family and friends.
Not for nothing but if they had just found him guilty based on the fact that he said he was going to go hunting elk with a 22... That would make total sense because everyone knows you can't kill an elk with a 22.
What is the point of having laws and law enforcement if this system cannot PREVENT crime? Police should have immediately offered her a protective order, and with the very first violation should have isolated him from society and thrown him in jail. She was asking for help repeatedly and police failed her and her son! EIGHT assault cases and active stalking and harassing and police did NOTHING.
Crime prevention does not generate money. So it’s automatically disqualified from consideration. One of the cons of a capitalist society, money motivates action.
Well, stalking wasn't a crime at that time and for the times he showed up at her house to do chores for her, she never had him trespassed off the property.
@@AllynHin he stepped onto her private property without expressed permission. That’s trespassing. Half of these episodes are based on cases where the police really dropped the ball.
@@trevorslinkard31 Oh look Trevor blaming the police as usual. Listen genius, the police can do nothing regarding smaller crimes such as trespassing. The VICTIM has to be one the call to it in herself, and have the police come there, and escort him off the premises, and then warn him if he does it again he can/will be arrested. Pam did NOT ever call the police when he was on her property.
Pam must have been terrified of this stalker. Larry fleck loved pam very much. She was scared that something was going to happen to her. Thats why she wanted him to come over even though it was late. Great forensics which proved his guilt. He got the prison term he deserved. Condolences to her parents larry and her young son. How tragic that he doesnt have a mother. What make my heart brocken, that she had afeel that something bad come to happen to her,her emotions were right, she felt every thing but it was too late when she called her fiance I thought she murderd after this call.. R.I.P ANGEL 🙏😢
Patrick Walsh was a "nice guy" before the r/niceguys subreddit existed to mock losers like him. I mean, he went out of his way to behave like the perfect gentleman towards Pam, thinking she'd fall head over heels for him, but when that strategy failed (because she sensed something was off about him), he did a heel-face turn and decided she had to pay for rejecting him. I can easily imagine him in 2022 posting angry rants on men's rights forums about how much he hates chads, stacys, and normies.
Walsh was never a "nice guy". Nice projection though. He had 8 assaults with other women, and was a suspect in one of the other murders in 1984 that involved a woman. How is that a nice guy even prior to him murdering Pam?
The boyfriend could prove he was at work. Prove how long she had been dead. The co worker was jealous? My guess. He was caught in the act. Not expecting her steady boyfriend was coming at 3 am The coworker panicked and called 911. To cover his murder.
Pam was “considering in changing the locks” when her home keys “mysteriously disappeared?” Really? She should have done it immediately after finding out her keys were missing, and especially knowing the sexual harassment situation she had at work with a supervisor; Come on, it is common sense. 🙄 This is the typical example of the mistakes people do not acting right away because if Pam had changed the lock sooner, she would be alive today. SMH Very sad and tragic. And as far as the perpetrator is concerned, I hope he ruts in prison and has the same fate that Pam had! He deserves that and much more. “Life in prison” which is the most “preferred word today with judges” and the most common word they use, is NOT enough especially when it includes only 3 words: “life…in…prison” rather than LIFE IN PRISON WITHOUT PAROLE! This is the complete sentence that judges very conveniently forget to say. It makes me sick to my stomach how the criminal justice system has failed miserably in the US and it truly sucks, it is a very disgraceful system who gives “passes” to criminals and care more about them than caring to the victims and their families to bring justice to them. Makes me barf 🤮
I feel like Pam had a feeling something would happen to her. She wanted Larry to come over even though he wouldn’t be off of work late, and she insisted that she really wanted him to come.

This guy had much prior with similar behavior. Police should have taken her complaint serious.
They probably said they didn’t have any evidence of it - if your police tell you this just keep on complaining if you truly feel in danger; they’ll do something eventually especially these days.
@@flyingchimp12 I don't think it would "slow down the show" if they mentioned he had trespassing charges pressed... I mean it's one sentence.
Wtf!
Or she was afraid.
Some people are just that desperate I guess...
It's because hus head was a light bulb and she was a dumb blind make you wanna vomit thing.
thats how dumb women can be.. smh
She's probably staying with him because she's waiting for his pension to mature.
Another amazing case! Kudos to the forensic scientists who caught the creep who couldn't face being rejected. Rot in hadeas.
R.l.P. Pam God bless the boyfriend.
I think he called her earlier that night and scared her which is why she wanted one: to drop off her son and two: have her boyfriend come over.
Yes, she new it was coming. She needed a gun to defend herself.
Poor thing. She should have stayed at her parent's with her son, after the boyfriend told her he was going to be late. Such a tragedy!
I agree .. she was adamant about the boyfriend coming by. I figured it was the co-worker first 10 min.. he got his car stuck fleeing then had to come up with a story as to why he was there
Yeah, at least she should have tell boy friend her suspicions and tell him to come by as soon as possible.
Stalking laws didn't exist then
@@connormccann5172 Trespassing was another crime he was committing if he was on her property.
10:40 -- "Walsh had not not broken any law." Ummm... Stalking, Trespass, Harassment....
Stalking was not a crime at the time, unfortunately. The very first state to pass a law against stalking was California and that was in 1990, years after this case.
@@virg0_lem0nade True true but at least Trespass... maybe harassment.
@@KingCast65 I totally agree, he absolutely should have been charged with several things before it escalated to all this! What a tragic case.
For the times he showed up at her house to do chores, she never had him trespassed off the property. She was probably afraid he would retaliate. She would have to trespass him, the police don't just do that.
@@KingCast65thus was the 80s yall . Marital rape and domestic violence didn’t even have laws or manes yet
If only the police had acted in time when Pam first complained. RIP.
I've watched this show from its beginning, also the CSI shows, and one called Autopsy:the Last Hours of,but I always come back to Forensic Files. The reasons people do the evil they do,and how science catches them,is for me,an endless fascination.
The same for me.
So there is nothing that cops can do about someone coming onto your property with no permission? Sounds odd to me
They didn't want to, as all the cops were men and they empathized with Walsh. They scolded Pam for reporting him and tried SHAMING her into giving him a chance and dating him because he "sounded like a GOOD guy" who was trying very hard for her. They're DISGUSTING and they deserved their own punishment for what they ALLOWED to happen to Pam! 💯💯🙄🤦♀️🤬🤬
Who takes a .22 for elk hunting???🤣😂
An overconfident hunter?
No one should
Exactly, he might as well've said he'd taken a machine gun & a bazooka to hunt elk - both being just as unbelievable.
i believed larry from the start...and then when i heard walsh's 911 call its not what he said its how he said it "all u have to do is look at her" it had a sinister proud like tone...tbh he sounded like a serial killer taunting police... and larry's story made sense, and he showed emotion and discomfort in his interview as well as real panic on the 911 call instead of feigned
Funny you mention that. Other clowns on other episodes said "Oh it's soooo obvious he/she is the killer, because they sound overly dramatic on the phone!!!!!!!!" Ridiculous. Everyone handles a situation differently.
@kimmyfreak200 agree
The knife was wiped clean, but I’m sure if they sprayed it with Luminol, it would light up in the seam of the wooden handle. Can’t clean down in there..
What would that prove though? It wouldn’t tell who did it. It was obvious it was the murder weapon
Like a Christmas tree
"Wiped clean" is a term that means that the FINGERPRINTS or other indicators of who handled the object were INTENTIONALLY removed. It doesn't actually mean the object was cleaned of blood.
"Both man had peculiar stories."
The boyfriend was invited over, found her dead and fled, fearing the killer was still there.
Ok...how is that peculiar?
This case reminds me of the Seinfeld episode in which Elaine heard about her boyfriend who was taken to the hosptal after a car accident. She stopped off first to buy some jujyfruits candy on her way to the hospital.
That's my favorite episode
Meanwhile George was getting a new gf, a new job, an new apartment
The polices attitude was so typical when someone feels they are in danger.. I'm glad he got bogged and hear he's not having fun in prison.
Thats how the police reacts whemn you need them. So better set up your defense and buy a gun.
This is really sad and upsetting! I hope her son is doing well in life without his Mother! RIP
"he drove his car into a ravine" 😂
A good series that shows that justice is done through good police work and expert scientists in their field .
Unfortunately many protection orders are not worth the paper they are typed
@@JohnBeerschoten-qf8bz if by "seduce" them you mean invite them, then it's only gonna end up bad for you
Or a loaded firearm. Very effective.
Man it's so scary to think what goes on in the lives of people that they have no clue about....
@2:50.. i know all too well that grief and emotion that just swelled up in his throat as he spoke about finding her.. his "oh my goodness".. was because he was shocked that he wasn't able to hold back those tears.. mixed with the loss of words that h had... bless him.
This is the first; Not only did this one light up a room, she lit up the whole house!
Yes, her boyfriend is very nice man. I feel sorry for him
Him getting stuck in the ditch thus sealing his fate was an act of karma
😂
I'm wondering why the police couldn't do anything about Walsh beforehand. Other commenters have said that stalking wasn't a crime at the time--fair enough. But they said Walsh was going onto her property and doing yard chores for her without her permission. That sounds like trespassing to me.
Simply outrageous
It's all fun and games at Forensic Files until the detectives break out the Neutron Activation Analyzer.
You're extremely incorrect. God, I really hope you NEVER end up on a jury! 💯💯🤞🏻🤞🏻🙄🤦♀️🤦♀️
Poor Pamela, called her boyfriend Larry to be with her and instead found death at the hands of a mentally,
deranged, evil man, Patrick Walsh.
It's so sad that in many of these cases, there's nothing the police can do until after someone is dead. Things have got to change.
There's plenty they can do .. go over and make contact with the stalker is one and say her your on our radar. At the very least... Cops are disgustingly lazy
This is sad poor lady….. I feel bad for the poor kid that has no mother …. That is indeed sad… 🥺
Elk hunting with a .22? That’s weak. Who hunts an elk with a .22? Elk is likely to just stomp you if you shot one with that. This guy wasn’t just an evil person, he was a exceptionally stupid person. He deserved everything he got.
No one hunts elk with a .22 revolver.
That’s hilarious.
Elk hunting with a 22,yea he is definitely lying
But his ex girlfriend did not know about it so it was not suspicious for her.
"He has a lot of guns, and she was shot, so it has got to be him."
Grade A detective work dad
To be fair, 99% of these cases involve the spouse, so dad was just wrong on this one.
hell hath no fury like a man scorned.
He was a suspect in multiple assaults against women and a suspect in TWO murders, but when she called police to report him stalking her the police weren’t able to do anything? 🤔
If we had laws making false accusations a prosecutable offense, maybe police would be able to do something about stalkers before it gets escalated to a physical assault or murder. 🤷♀️
This one of my fav episodes, finding all seeds and leaves, things people never really cares about. RIP Pam, poor lady, she should have told her bf about stalker.
Yeah, it's all HER fault because she didn't tell her boyfriend. 🙄🤦♀️🖕🖕
@@synergisticcollusion134 I didn't blame her, don't get your undies twisted. The more people know about a harassing stalker, more protection receives from the family and friends.
@@synergisticcollusion134oh grow up. You’re a donut.
"Walsh hadnt broken the law"...
Well he was trespassing when doing those lawn chores wasnt he?
1:07 that haircut was the biggest crime in this case
So sad 😢, thanks to advancement in forensic science and tech, law enforcement agencies are able to solve these tough crimes.
Not for nothing but if they had just found him guilty based on the fact that he said he was going to go hunting elk with a 22... That would make total sense because everyone knows you can't kill an elk with a 22.
I’ve been looking for this episode ❤️
Couldn't they arrest him for trespassing in her yard
I'm pretty sure she would've had to press charges herself.
Be careful who you ignore in life you just don't know what can happen.
She wasn't interested and owed him nothing.
Elk hunting with a 22 pistol...that sounds like a crazy lie ...I guess the Quack grass Quacked him out lol
🤣🤣🤣
The cops be like "we can't do anything until either he hits you, rapes you or eventually kills you"
Exactly, that's why we are our own first responders and need to protect ourselves.
Only a killer would pick banana Laffy taffy if another flavor was available.
This happened 31 years ago today .
Patrick Walsh deserves to never see anything but prison bars .
I think God reached down and pushed that monster's car in the ditch.
RIP PAM
And what a nice/good boyfriend.
Hopefully he never gets out. Feel bad for his wife and kids though...😢😢😢😢
Well, at least the bear won't stalk someone 15 years...
“He didn’t break the law.” I suppose trespassing/breaking-and-entering was legal in this county at the time
Well, stalking wasn't a crime at that time and for the times he showed up at her house to do chores for her, she never had him trespassed off the property.
One scary way to exit omg

Pam dropped off her kid, took a bath and was tryna get herself some loving, but that asshole killed her b4 he boyfriend got there.
Umm...Maybe because I am from the south, but a .22 to hunt elk?!

How you gonna hunt an elk with a .22 handgun?
Why do 911 recordings always sound horrible
The boyfriend could prove he was at work. Prove how long she had been dead. The co worker was jealous? My guess. He was caught in the act. Not expecting her steady boyfriend was coming at 3 am The coworker panicked and called 911. To cover his murder.
I am drunk and listening to this, respect to the US investigators smart ones

Makes me barf 🤮
thank you, I liked hearing he was having a harder time in prison.
