I rode and raced hardtails for years, having been what felt like the last person in the world to finally switch over to a full suspension. There is no comparison. Full suspension is superior. Plus if you find yourself in a spot where you wouldn't want squish, lock it out.
I prefer a hard tail or rigid if I am providing the power, but on an ebike, I already know my next one will be full suspension and have hydraulic brakes. My current bike is a folder rolling on 20 inch fat tires and will go 32 mph and the hardtail design really makes the rear tire buck over any uneven pavement. A decent rear suspension would make it perfect.
Thanks for your review and advice regarding the handlebar. We've realized the issue and have improved the handlebar's stability. The Cobra will arrive perfectly for our Himi Riders. Please rest assured :)
I'd like this ebike with a 1000 watt motor. Ariel rider just released a cruiser hardball far bike with a 52v 20ah battery and 1k watt motor. It's only a matter of time they release a full suspension model that mirrors this bike....Himiway needs to recognize this.
I believe the Cobra as a rear hub Drive. I believe Cobra Pro is the baFang 620/g510, mid-drive. A lot of great bikes out there in the sub $4,000 category. Everyone educate yourself and do your research

Unfortunately I canceled my order for the Himiway Cobra. I ordered the bike on June 7th and the website said the bike would ship in July. After reaching out to them I was told the bike wouldn't ship until September. Out of frustration I canceled my order. Going with a Canadian company Instead. The Volt Yukon core, fat tire, mid drive, upgraded Shimano rapid fire shifter, more torque, similar battery power, 1 torque and 2 speed sensors, comes with 4" fat tires but supports up to 4.8 . Fat tire bikes are naturally a smoother ride and you can always add a suspension seat post for more suspension. I'll give up the soft tail for an upgraded mid drive motor anyday. Had himiway took initiative and informed me the bike would take longer to ship I'd probably still stick with them.. unfortunately the situation made me question the company's customer service (which many people have had issues with)

As far as Canadian Ebike laws go, I did lots of research into all the laws before dropping 3k on a bike. Straight from the Ontario website it says ebikes can basically go anywhere a regular bike is permitted unless they have specific local bylaws saying ebikes are not allowed. So in Burlington where I'm from we're allowed riding bikes on the sidewalk but in most of Ontario you would have to ride your bike on the road. When discussing the PAS levels, he failed to mention that is fully adjustable on old Hemingways. You cannot only change from 0 to 5 but the 0 to 7 and 0 to 9 levels. Along with that you can adjust the percentage of power assigned to each level.
So I received my bike Saturday, they did change the grips but went to a left hand thumb throttle.. What throttle can I use to replace the left thumb throttle?

I’m 68YO with extensive mountain bike experience, but no eBike. I am a fly-fisherman and my mission for an eBike is to use as a shuttle vehicle at river take-out to travel back up-river to get my truck and trailer then go back down to retrieve my drift boat. I would also use the bike to travel up and down river to fish so a back rack is important to put gear on. It’s use would be on not very technical single-track, gravel and highway. Sometimes I am in waders so minimal pedaling but will also use for a town ride from my RV and want exercise. Because the bike will be left all day at my take-out it is inevitable that some thief will eventually steal it even though I’d NY lock it. Consequently, I don’t want to have a huge amount of money in it. My need is a truck, rather than a sports car. Is this the bike for my mission? Thoughts?

Great review! Can you change the setting on this to go faster than 20 mph on throttle only? Very cool you were riding Hell hole. I was just riding that and it was a great workout on a regular bike.
Great review, question how was bike clean up after the ride? I noticed some mud on the frame where the battery, I’m concerned about excessive debris in the battery. Also how bad was the dirt/mud from the rear tire? Do you think fenders would be a positive addition or more of a hindrance? Also what did you use to transport the bike, you mentioned that is was longer then other similar bikes. Thanks again.
With how the battery tucks into the frame it's not a huge concern on the debris front, but do pop it out if the outside is caked in mud or dirt. For lots of off-roading we personally just anticipate getting dirty and typically prefer no fenders. Here's what we used to haul this bike around: www.ebrdeals.com/ebrBPCarRacks-Hollywood-SportRider

Really wanted to see a review of the Himiway Cobra Pro. The Ultra motor is finally coming to a few commercial bikes and love the torque that it delivers.
Hello because of a good Himiway bike After 3 weeks and about 15 km it is defective (no more pedal assist) After I tried the support they wanted a video from me with the description of the problem, what I had done. The driving assistance via hand throttle worked perfectly, what I showed in the video. And what email came back from China ??? a video how I can speed up the hand throttle illegally, with the statement that they helped me with it ????????? I think the Himiway Service in China can't even watch video properly. I've only had the bike 3 weeks and already have a neck on Himiway. I hope for you that you never have to use the service, because the support in Germany gives the problem also only to China, because nothing else comes from there either.
Have fun with your Himiway and hopefully never a warranty case.
@@ElectricBikeReport I'm not too concerned with the range but do love the fact that it's throttle only. Researched into the Ducati Mig series and they are strictly pedal assist so that's the only reason I can't go with them unfortunately. Give me 20 miles each trip, 30mph all throttle and I'm golden
I've been looking for an ebike for commuting that I can also load onto my bike rack and take out trail riding. I've been keeping my eye on soft tail bikes for the comfort and verstility and was really curious about this Himiway model but I didn't quite have the reference to see just how big this bike is until watching this video. I'm just shy of 5'-10" and will definitely be riding in the city more than actually off road. The Cobra is already at the top end of my budget. If not this one, what soft tail bike would you recommend for someone my size that will expect to use it for city riding?
You can also look into the Himiway Zebra which is a cheaper option. We'll have the video for that one up this week. What bike rack do you have? These are all heavy bikes so make sure you keep your tray's weight rating in mind.
Too bad they dont have a good track record of after sales service.., especially dealing with warranty issues….. Its china roulette….but fair price and looks good
Hey Ashley, I work for EBR. For our reviews we ask that the manufacturers cover the costs for our time in making the reviews. This payment is in no way for an endorsement of the product though - the opinions expressed are our own.
Realitivly in exspensive doesn’t help , it would be nice to have a general price for this bike . I’ll look it up . Good review tho , not trying to sound like a d**k
I love this bike, but I wish you guys wouldn't drive so fast out there in the natural world. Disturbing the peace while enjoying none of it should be kept to paved roads. Hopefully all e-bikes will be limited by law to a max of 8mph in Ntl Forests. Tearing through natural areas is a desecration of nature.
Do not buy any Himiway products. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. First of all, I couldn’t find a repair shop that would be willing to do warranty work because “ Himiway doesn’t pay their bills” I finally found a dealer that would work on my Cruiser, but wouldn’t wait for reimbursement from Himiway because they don’t pay. After speaking with Himiway they told me to go ahead and pay for the repairs. I did which was around 150 bucks. Here I am months later and still no refund. Email after email and excuse after excuse. Don’t do business with Himiway, I’m in Cali.
why can't engineers get the freaking battery right? it should sit in the frame, loading it in from the top, not "hang" from the bottom of the frame. It's called GRAVITY, and has caused lots of issues for owners if the frail clip fails to hold battery in place.

I've only had the bike 3 weeks and already have a neck on Himiway.
I hope for you that you never have to use the service, because the support in Germany gives the problem
also only to China, because nothing else comes from there either.
Have fun with your Himiway
and hopefully never a warranty case.
Is this street legal? And can I just use throttle exclusively?
Yes and yes. You'll get less range if you never pedal though.
I’d buy this e-bike
It's a great bike, but the feel of the mid-drive on the Cobra Pro was even better!
Music almost blee some speakers. It's so mich louder than the rest of the video lol
Sorry! We'll do better on the next one.
Magicycle let's you go into the settings and change the power on pedal assist
pretty sure you can do the same on a Himiway based off videos i've seen
HIMIWAY SAYS THE COBRA DOES NOT HAVE A TORQUE SENSOR. IS THIS TRUE? YOU SAY IT DOES IN YOUR REVIEW. PLEASE RESPOND. THANK YOU.
I just pre pre-ordered this bike and did lots of research before purchasing. Everything I read said it came with a torque sensor
@@topgun685 can you give me the link that confirms that information please. Thank you.
I am 5 4 will I be able to ride it
Doubtful!!
That is a real nice bike.
It has been quite fun.
can the zebra or cobra be riddin in heavy rain. Is it water proof enough.
Yes.
PAS 1 on this bike IS too fast. We almost always set ours to 22% (instead of 28% from factory) for PAS 1. No one wants to go 16-17mph in level 1.
Please! Check the BBB before buying a Himiway.
Too bad they dont have a good track record of after sales service.., especially dealing with warranty issues….. Its china roulette….but fair price and looks good
Yeah CS has been a problem for many brands for a while now. Hoping that improves going forward.
That’s like 2 feet longer distance to stop…
Are you paid by Himiway in anyway?
Hey Ashley,
I work for EBR. For our reviews we ask that the manufacturers cover the costs for our time in making the reviews. This payment is in no way for an endorsement of the product though - the opinions expressed are our own.
@@griffinhales3421 Great! Thank for the reply.
I own a Himiway D7, the battery life is 45 km, not much more, false advertising
CS... it's still, and always has been a crap shoot. Yet, it's common in everything everywhere. If only service could keep up with sales ~sigh~
Why are bikes like these illigal in the Netherlands?
You probably have a 15 mph limit and no trottle
Realitivly in exspensive doesn’t help , it would be nice to have a general price for this bike . I’ll look it up . Good review tho , not trying to sound like a d**k
The Eunorau dual hub 750W Defender S will walk all over this for $2800. The problem is there is a four to six month wait.
No twisted throttle
That’s not true. You have to add an extra battery and an extended warranty to equal the Himiway. And then you are $1000 more
My experience with Himiway customer service? Terrible. I personally would not buy from them again.
Alrighty then!
I bet you're a lot of fun at parties 🥳
@@topgun685 I ain't goin to that party! But Ben, you can walk on over here and join us for another beer!
@@davidspradley9182 I'm game! I'll ride my ebike, take the shortcut, and shred through the forest on my way there ;)
My horse does more damage by far.
Guys, seriously... lose some of the volume on the music... it is REALLY F**KING ANNOYING...
Noted
She’s a brick house!!!

why can't engineers get the freaking battery right? it should sit in the frame, loading it in from the top, not "hang" from the bottom of the frame. It's called GRAVITY, and has caused lots of issues for owners if the frail clip fails to hold battery in place.
