Whenever something is shown in a video or a photo, and is described as the biggest or smallest, it's good to provide a way for people to judge scale. I don't know if this porcupine is the size of a cow or a pit bull or a raccoon or what.
"...and as urban land rapidly shrinks..." I'm pretty sure the shrinkage of urban land is not a threat to the porcupine. At first I thought this was a mistake, but it goes on to say that as the urban land shrinks they come into more contact with farmers, which suggests they meant what they said. Sure, farmers may be a threat to porcupines, but I highly doubt that greater urbanization is going to be somehow beneficial. I don't know what the realities are with regard to the plight of this porcupine, but I do know that the message in the video above is all emotive with gibberish for substance.
Sorry but I live in South Africa and it is true. These porcupines are hit by cars and killed, dogs attack them, there's less and less food for them because there's so little room for them to live so they're coming down to forage for food in our living areas now and they're getting killed. I've seen quite a few living in the storm water drains instead of digging burrows in the ground.. This never happened in the past. It's happening with caracals and babboons and other animals too with terrible consequences.
Make it sound like Africa is being transformed into a giant city. There is always going to be space for them as long as no one starts a sport to hunt porcupines.
Africa's population is growing and growing so agriculture is going to take over and these beautiful creatures along with many others will be killed off. To make way for humans! Like the planet needs more people! It makes me sick.
They took everything else; now they take animals in pretence of safety and conservation while they themselves kill this animals. Hypocrisy at its finest.
The only solution for conservation is domestication, If you have an effective domestication program that can replenish wild populations when needed you have effectively protected that species form extiction.
From Last Few Days I Am Working On My Mine when I Climb up The Highest Place Of The Mountain I saw Their Is A Very Big Hole In The Mountain When i Look Down To That Hole I saw A Very Large And A Big Porcupine Inside That Hole Its Almost The Size Of Cow or More Bigger But Trust Me I was So Scareed And My Foot Took Me Back Few Step I cant Belive On my Eyes i Was In Shocked That Time I Try To Look Back But That Time The Porcupine Was Not Their Guide Me some One What am I Do Infact I Cant Belive On my Eyes
who gets to decide on the absolutely dumb, misplaced soundtrack? Too loud, too distracting and too overplayed everywhere else on the web. Had to turn off the sound.
“This is piss” is the greatest way to start a video ever
lmao had me dying
Ha ha! I have refreshed the page 3 times now to hear it. Laughing like a nutter now.

Have you ever heard of accents?

You can kind of tell from the food. I don't think lemons and broccoli are basketball sized.
There's a broccoli for scale.
I want to see it next to a human
what his conditioner?
"This is piss..."
Lol, I fucking love your icon.
0:01 "This is piss"
Dude, porcupines are like, not in danger of extinction
I honestly believe that this is one of the best channels on youtube! Great job.
This piano tune is from the Truman Show
Bringing awareness...but in an uninteresting visual manner. Also, there was no scale to indicate the animal's size.
lewelstamp the food
lewelstamp the broccoli is a pretty awesome scale, everyone know how big a rose of a broccoli is
lewelstamp thanks Steve thats very true
It’s adorable
He is beautiful.
I seen a leopard destroy one of these bad boys one on one.. It took a while but the leopard was relentless..

The indigenous Africans eat them in Southern Africa. I spoke with a guy who claims it's some of the best meat.
Shame it's called African. It's also widespread in Italy.

Wowww
This came out on the same day as the presidential debate, coincidence?

Again, humans prove to be the number one enemy for all living creatures, especially their own.

matycee The music makes the video depressing and overpowers it too. The music doesn’t go well with the video.
