#Porcupine
Hi Jessi! In a previous video kizmit was called a hystrix cristata, but now she is hylo critsia here. What have you observed in Kizmit that made you realize she was a different species? In this case, was it very subtle? Thanks!
Sabrienne Alice Olanio No, no change totally my mistake!! It should be Hystrix cristata. I think a combination of autocorrect and not thinking clearly because of a concussion at the time of recording this episode is the culprit for not catching this blatant mistake. Sorry guys!!
AnimalWonders Montana Thanks for the clarification and I hope you've recovered/are recovering well from your concussion. We wish you all the best!
How did u get concussion???
@@mr.piggly5884 somebody punched her cuz she wouldn't shut up
@@porkyswelding you suck
I would like to thank Square Space for giving us 30 seconds of Kizmit eating.
She's Huge.
I would definitely not say no to short videos just showing the animals' behaviours. While it is really interesting to learn about them, sometimes I just wanna watch an adorable animal play, or just eat.
And 0.5 seconds of Kizmit eating the camera.
@@alexs.5871 check out chunk videos. He's a hedgehog, he has a family now, and wonderful videos of him eating or members of his family eating. Also there's a great one where he burps :)
Things that threaten Kemosabe: Lack of fresh bananas.
Things that threaten Kizmit: Lack of prompt belly rubs.
Truly, both situations that require deadly quill usage.
I've been wondering why Kizi was housed with the cavies rather than her "grouchy uncle." Now I know. Thanks!
Guess your not getting Kemosabe & Kizmit a bouncy house for their next birthday.
This was so perfectly done. Everything!
Dr. Doe!!! Hi!
Hi Dr. Doe! Good to see you here!
That cavy room is like cute rodent heaven.
@@rinraiden7025 rats are awesome, social intelligent animals
This pair is just absolutely delightful. what a cute pair of critters!
Kemosabe reminds me of someone's tiny grumpy grandpa. "Get off my lawn you dang hooligans! [vigorous fist-shaking]"
the vigorous fist shaking description made me chuckle so hard xD
I've gotten too close to a northern Minnesota porcupine - it politely turned around and bristled it's whole back to me, and slowly charged me while chanting some porcupine grunts - it was beautiful kind of like a turkey fanning it's tail ... I'm always happy to have wild porcupines around where I live
thank you for caring for animals so much. I lost my best friend last week, he was a 15.5 year old husky with an amazing personality. Watching your videos seeing happy animals helps me feel better. Thanks again.
kizmit got so big already..so cute 🤗
This was fascinating. I love comparative evolution studies. 🐺🐕
This is just what I was thinking. Sent it to my biology loving kid who is currently doing units in evolution.
Me too
@@EliseLogan that was really sweet
Kizmit is so big now!! Wow!
I never knew that porcupines could be social! I was actually worried about the guinea pigs and Chilli Pepper before I saw this video because I didn't think she would be able to control her quills. I'm so glad you made this video! Kemosabe is one of my favorite animals at Animal Wonders and you answered a question of mine about Kizmit. Thanks!
Kizmit's gotten so big!!!! I can't believe she fit in your hand only a few months ago.
BOOM Quality porcupine action
kizmit got so big! hahaha
this episode was just great. everyone loves to meet these animals. your fashion was on point (nice belt). and that was the most tolerable ad read i've heard in awhile
So good to see a video of them together :-)
Those porcupines are so cute
I loved this video! Especially because Kemosabe and Kizmit where in It❤️
+
I live in Nebraska and if I heard you correctly, we have the Old World porcupine from Africa (soft hair in front - business quills in back).
Odd that the Mid West U.S. didn't get the porcupine from South America. South
I had no idea old world porcupines didn't have barbed quills. The quills do still pull out and get lodged in the skin of other animals, don't they? I've seen pictures of lions with porcupine quills in their face, are those quills just easier to remove?
waitingfor2020 They do still come out sometimes, but it takes a lot more force to go in and only comes out if the quill is lodged deep in the predator and the hold is stronger there than in the porcupine's follicle.
Im in love with porcupines and her passion for them. I recently had privilege of seeing newborn old world porcupine baby, very cute. Kimo still takes cake tho. This woman is so awesome; she seems so kind
I wanna pet Kizmit so much!
She's freaking adorable
The Cavy room looks so cool
And there’s a third spikey sweetheart... the echidna. Amazing how ‘convergent’ evolution fills similar niches with kinda similarly protected animals.
And hedgehogs 😊
Kemosabe has the record for most views. It's those little tiny hands when he grabs stuff it's too cute💗😄
I miss baby Kizmet! good thing we have the other videos!
You fail to address a huge mystery: how do these animals mate without leaving themselves full of more holes than Bonnie and Clyde?
Lol, that's what I was wondering!
They mate... very carefully lol
Such a great video! I'm so happy you guys got a sponsor!! Very well done.
I do not understand the 5 dislikes. This is amazing, it's like a full trip and adventure, just as you say, everytime you educate us on the awesomeness of animals. This one particularly was sooo cool!
Oy Kemo ... that is a formidably boopable nose
That's why I call them Boopsnoots.
Omg Kizmit grew up oooh wow and she's beautiful!!!!!
kemosabe & kizmet: the podcast
please? i love the sounds kemosabe makes.
I love porcupines, they are so adorable, this video got me to subscribe, thank you for such lovely videos
I love your energy and enthusiasm. Your love for all the animals in your care, is obvious. Thanks you for teaching others so much about animals we often don’t get to see ourselves. I will use your videos in our homeschool for my high functioning autistic grandson; my daughter and I always look for interesting nature videos for him. Thank you!
I loved your "tie as a belt"!
I had to watch this again to see it. That's still a nice belt.
Came to comments, just to see if anyone else noticed in the past 2 years 👍☺️
For whatever reason, I found it rather endearing 🥰
I was hoping you would make a video about this. Thanks! great info : )
So close to 100k subs! Good work, you guys deserve it.
You are an amazing human, i love ur enthusiasm and your passion for animals!
what a light in this world!
your show is so amazing! thank you so much Jessi. I love your animals and the way you take care of them!
Aww, look at at Kizmit, all grown up. :')
I know a little more about those cute little porcupines that love you so much!
They're both so precious!
Great episode, Jessi! Very interesting and educational!
Love love LOVE this whole channel!
So much cute!!! I just love your videos, a real bright spot in my week. :)
I don’t know how this channel was recommended but I sure am happy it was. Kizzy and and Kimosabe.... adorable!!!
Amazing video! So informative! Thank you 😊
I didn't even know how badly I wanted this video until I saw it in my subscriptions. Thanks for making it!
Thank you so much for all the information ♥️
i want to give Kizmit such a cddle, she's gorgeous.
So informative and well presented. Great video.
YOU HIT 1K CONGRATULATIONS
Hi. Do you still have videos that highlight Kemosabe's marvelous speech? Sure would live to hear him again. Thanks!
Viewing this in 2020. What a great information source you are! This was immensly interesting.
Is Kemosabe feeling better?
It's so good to see the two of them ^_^
This was a really good video.
This was very interesting! Thank you very much!!
Very informative, thank you much. Now I must go find out more about these marvelous critters.
Aww they're so cute ! Love them !!
Awww they were both so sweet!!! 😍 i loved this one!
This video was very interesting to watch!
And Kizmit surely is growing bigger, but she doesn't get any less adorable.
Kizzie is getting so big!!!
I love animalWonders. It is a great time we live in, that anyone can observe animals and learn about them and their behaviors on the web. These videos are so well done and informative. It is nice you can see the people involved genuinely care about the well being of these animals and try to keep their lives as natural as possible in captivity. This is why the internet was made. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the animals and to expanding education. It is meaningful to those who would not otherwise have the means or experience.
A personal favorite of mine is the video about the difference between snakes and legless lizards!
I think I remember Kemosabe being down to one tooth, which probably wouldn't chitter very well by itself. You take wonderful care of him, so I don't think it would happen often, but how does he express annoyance if the first part of his routine is limited? Thank you.
Very informative and very interesting. Good work.
wow she is so friendly i hope she get her reward for love our nature that much ❤️
Has Chili Pepper learned not to groom Kizmit so much that she gets a bald spot?
Tyler Peterson Kizmit never had a bald spot, but when she was real little Chili Pepper did chew on her long quills. Kizi's... a bit bigger now, lol, and CP has learned not to nibble her quills or she'll get upset.
Is chili pepper the girl talking?
Patagonian mara.
This was fantastic, thank you so much!
I'm glad that Kizmit is so social, she seems to act like my boston terrier. Does she ever accidentally hurt the cavies?
This was so interesting - thank you
Спасибо за ролики🌞👍
Truly appreciate your videos. This is a beautiful experience in being a true 'animal geek' like myself. I adore & support a lot of BATS & really appreciate the rumors you are dispelling about the porcupine. You can imagine how many rumors bats have about them I'm sure. Or, you know because you're spending time with them, *hint* PLEASE If you have any bat videos, share the link. Thanks for your time and passion for animals lives.
Ooooh these two are my favorite 💝💝💝👍👍👍
Love this channel
I love your Gligar shirt, Jessi C:
I really love porcupines. I love animals.
So cute!!
Great and informative video, as always.
Question: When a porcupine loses a quill do they grow back?
lol, "they are all covered in DEATH!"
You have the best job ever!!!
Oh my gosh, Kizmit is huge now!!!
You should do a comparative video like this with other similar animals you have, like why the size disparity between Chili Pepper and the guinea pigs, even though they are both cavys.
Awwwww Kizmit is doing so well and she's such a sweetheart ;_;
I want to make pens out of Kizmit's quills!
Right? What a great idea, I wonder if they can make & then sell them, like keep-sakes? Mementoes?
hiko73 maybe that's something we can ask about.
The Guinea pigs: kizmit sure is pointy
she's very long
we love her
This was so interesting!
I'm getting Hystrix pumlia next week.
I wonder what would happen if Kemosabe and Kizmit met. Would they just fight each other?
Pyro7693 It's likely they would. And porcupines don't really do "backing down" very well, so we're not going to risk an introduction since it's not necessary for either. Kemo is solitary and Kizi already has her social needs met with the cavies.
Can you mention their stats, please? And do they have different types?
Kizmit is getting big! How much does she weigh now, and how much bigger is she likely to get? When will she be full grown?
I love porcupines
"Covered in death" lol I love this channel
Kizmit got huge!!!
Well I just learned that porcupines are badasses! Now I want one 🦔🦔
Adorable
When they lose quills do they grow more? Or loss forever?
*In grade 2 I went to a girls bday party and I was given a quill from Kizmit's species....wish I knew where it went*
