as I sit listening to Jones, it occurs to me there's no one can sing drunk man songs that speak to your soul like George Jones. he'll live on forever thanks to RUclips
+Martin Ward you are 100%correct!! I couldn't begin to tell you what is being played on country radio today, I don't watch the awards shows anymore and that is really sad. George Jones can talk a song better than any body these days can sing a song!!
He’s the most amazing country singer, but the pain in his eyes in undeniable.... RIP to the true King of Country hope you found peace and happiness in Heaven🤍
Man, really, i appreciate, and with the due respect i enjoy so much that are young, and beautiful girls and so many people that i didn't knew that liked George, I'm not saying this to be a simp, but really, I really appreciate, because I'm Brazilian, and I know every George 's music and I know that he's my favorite singer and i recommend him to everyone. "The whole neighborhood knows I'm home drunk again" damn isn't this the sad truth in alot of our lives. Still gonna keep doing it but damn, how accurate Jones is in his songwriting is insane.
My #1 favorite country singer. When my daughter was a tiny baby and she'd wake up in the middle of the night, I'd give her a bottle of milk, and rock her in my arms in the rocking chair and we'd listen to George Jones!
A lot of the old country greats could sing a drinking song, but none sang them like George. That's because he lived it every day for much of his life. It was autobiographical. It makes me think back to that story of him on the riding lawn mower. Too bad he had to go (die, I mean - not to the liquor store on the mower). Willie's the only one left.
I'm so glad to see George smile when he mentions Tammy's name, I know he's been to hell and back, BUT at least he came back , intact with his humor, smile, (I love that smile) and a love for Tammy still in his heart.... Thank you George Jones for singing for US. GOD BLESS
Don't get any better than this! George on top of his game, has the audience in the palm of his hands. George left us over four years ago, but these videos never get old.
I grew up with the best era of Country Music. What a great childhood! I think he actually apologized for singing "Tammy's memory will" at the end. But actually, everybody loved the live improv.
when my grandmother died and then my grandpa , my best friend my dog died i went through very rough times with Alcohol because i felt like there was nothing that could help me and felt my life was falling about day by day then i listened to George Jones and it helped a ton then i guess god and Jesus knew that the way i was heading was not good and gave me hope with a dream saying they are in a better place now don't be sad it's gonna be alright but only if you try and give up. a dream i will never forget.
I pretty much had a similar experience. My wife died Christmas day 2015 at the age of 45. I was there too and although part of me died with her I listened to this song and saw myself and where I was going. I struggled and am slowly healing.

+david turbo He was well known for never having to warm up before a show or a recording. He would rock up, lay down a blazing track, then fuck off on his lawnmower. Drunk.
George Jones has a voice as smooth as Kentucky bourbon, and words as heartbreaking as the stories of the poor souls who have taken comfort in them both. And God i know i'm one.
Sorry fellas. Ol hank sr has the most powerful voice in music history. Hearing songs like I saw the light, Cold cold heart, I'm so lonesome can just capture time and feeling when Ol hank sings those songs. Such a shame he was only 29. God only knows what Hank would've done if he lived a long strong life.
The G.O.A.T. He sings this so well you can visualize every moment. Like reading a great book or watching a classic movie. He did that for ever song he sang. Ain’t no modern country crap here folks!
On one of his shows George said no matter how many time he sings the same song, it will be different. This is the absolute best version of, "If Drinking Don't Kill me" in my opinion. He is superb in his voice, the words just rolling out of that fabulous voice!
