I really liked Gran Turismo 6 back in the day (especially since I could not afford a PS4 at the time), but it's still a very confusing title as it could have easily been a PS4 launch title as well.
They could've just used PS3 to build theor game on and improve it on PS4 what Turn10 should've done when making Forza Horizon 2 available for xbox 360.
@@realmustangboy6437 Impossible, the architecture is so much different, that's probably why they couldn't or didn't want to bother to make it a PS4 title.
Gran Turismo 6 will be forever in my heart since when i logged in to the game on my birthday it played some song and wished me happy birthday and i got sick car as a present. That was the nicest birthday ever
@@cckiller0053the reason for that was because a lot of people had issues with their PS3s overheating if they left their consoles on for too long when it came to GT5 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Nurburgring, thus causing all of the progress from the endurance race to be lost due to an internal hardware issue thanks to overheat. As much as I hate that they had to reduce the endurance races down to minutes, I feel like they saved a lot of PS3s from being cooked because of that major change. But now that we live in the era of emulation, those endurance races are a lot less taxing on a PC, depending on the build specs. And because save states do exist now, you can just pop a save, close RPCS3 (preferred emulator) and then launch it back up again
GT6 has always been the most intriguing game in the series for me given how it was their last main title for a very long time before the release of GT7 (ignoring Sport). It was kind of a weird cliffhanger for the franchise especially since Sport was such a drastic change in direction even for a stopgap. The VGT Cars are such a strong point of this game as well imo, it's so cool to have Manufacturers design cars specifically for the game which you can then use. The extra events as well are really nice and Goodwood in particular is a highlight for me.
GT6 was really frustrating cuz it improved a lot of the setbacks and flaws from GT5 but also removed some key and fan-favorite features, and also launched extremely barebones, not having B spec, course maker (which you didn’t even bring up, and is also unusable since it was tied to the internet connectivity aspects of the game), senna content, sierra, and a number of other special events. Things 6 improved over 5: - More cars and tracks, including upgrades to a few dozen standard cars and tracks - Improved physics, now simulating body roll and more advanced suspension mechanics, making 5 feels comparatively flat - More tracks with time and weather simulation - Faster load times - Parts purchasable from nearly any menu in the game - No more permanent unreversible engine and weight upgrades - No more single-use paint chips; all paint you unlocks was permanent and infinite use - More performance parts (NOS and brakes being more notable) - Substantially better customization options, particularly on standard cars, but also added options on premiums; also added a custom wing feature with adjustable height and width with more depth than even 7 has - Car search feature - No more RNG used dealership to find a car you wanted - Slightly better lighting and visuals - Menus simpler and easier to navigate - New lobby features - Better replay functionality Things that were delayed to very late post-launch updates: - B-Spec, around 1.5 years after launch (and didn’t add any new campaign features, just a different way to replay campaign races that was basically letting a slow AI drive your car) - Course maker, nearly 3 years after launch, and the editor wasn’t even in the game, instead only available as a tablet app, and didn’t have all the promised functionality. However, it was an incredible addition, but was tied to online like GTS and 7 and is no longer usable, so out was for nothing - more than half the special events. I believe at launch there was only Goodwood and the Moon missions, with the Vettel challenges being added a few months after launch but sierra and senna stuff not coming till well over a year after launch. GT5 had about 3x the special event content - VGT; we only had the Mercedes for the longest time, and I believe only the BMW and Mitsubishi came in the first year, with the program slowly picking up steam in the 2nd year Things removed/not carried over or downgraded from 5 to 6: - Shuffle mode in lobbies; arguable the community’s favorite feature, and still hasn’t returned to any game despite so many requests - Speed Test mode (route X) - All previous photo travel locations - AI; substantially more rubber banded and dumb. They would back off and let you win in the final straight, and would give up in corners; in some circumstances you could pull along side then and they’d slow down to about 20mph; worst AI in the series by far - No more used car dealership - AI cars couldn’t rollover like in 5, operated on different physics to the player’s car - Vehicle damage; only scratches and scrapes would appear during collisions, dynamic deformation and removable parts was only in GT5 - More aggressive and restrictive auto-reset to track with no settings to adjust it - Massive frame rate issues, often dropping to the 20’s with large grids and/or weather - Sounds with minimal changes despite marketing they were “upgraded” - Capped garage to 500 cars, overflow going to a “stock yard”, removing upgrades and taking forever to load and reorganize - Campaign relegated to mobile game style progression, getting stars in each individual level that didn’t impact any other levels, forcing a much more linear style of play than previous games (but not as linear as 7) - no in-game course maker, only once it was added waaayy after launch you could upload tracks via a tablet app, and you could only save 12 at a time. In GT5 the track generator (while very simple and lacked control) was in the game, you could save as many tracks as you wanted, and is still accessible since it’s not tied to internet features - special events list substantially smaller despite the amount of new and carried over content IMO, GT6 really suffered from its terrible AI, disappointing campaign, and some fan favorite game modes and features for casual arcade and lobby play at endgame. GT6 really only came into its own around early 2016 a bit after the course maker was released, but better yet, people figured out how to crack and hack the editor app and get around its restrictions and put in custom elevations and sharper turns and steeper banking. It allowed for some insane creativity and nearly limitless content to try out, but it only lasted for around 18-ish months before the servers got shut down and with it the course maker, the one truly outstanding and unique aspect to GT6. GT6 was very disappointing throughout its lifespan, and IMO just almost every other game outdoes it in some ways that makes it less fun to play. It outdoes 7’s campaign but the AI is intolerable. 7 has better physics and customization/personalization of your garage, but also doesn’t really incentivize you to actually try most of the cars and tracks. 6 and 7 were both bummers in many ways, but 7 is at least still supported and operational.
@@michaelgomez4994 I agree I love GT7 because of the very good current physics model much better than GT Sport I would like to say the same about the game's campaign but it's pretty bad but i have to swallow it to appreciate the great graphics and physics
GT6 was one of the first games I played online in 2015. I remember I joined a Willow Springs lobby and we would cut across onto the dirt and drive from one side of the track to the other in a sort of off road drag race. Super fun
Makes you wonder why they have cut so much. Licences with WRC, Nascar, Top Gear, senna and even the moon gave them so much depth. This compared with the lack of tracks and cars, 7 feels like a shell compared to 5/6.
I can't wait to buy myself a new PC so I could emulate PS 3 games. Even if I love GT 1 to 4, I really miss 5 and 6. Unlike GT 7, the PS 3 titles still have that Gran turismo "soul".
Friendly advice for you: If you're not the type of person that has the patience to do shitton of trial and error and research to make GT5/GT6(especially 6) work on rpcs3(even if you look for solutions online, those solutions doesn't necessarily work for every system) and also don't want to be on edge every time about crashes, then I recommend just playing it on ps3. GT is unstable as hell on rpcs3, you're gonna pray the whole time that hopefully it boots and doesn't crash. I'm quite tech savvy, even then I couldn't manage to make GT run perfectly. So I gave up and played it on ps3 instead because I really hate hiccups on my playthroughs.
You're gonna be sorely disappointed trying to play GT on RPCS3. I ended up digging out my old PS3 with a broken disc reader and just modding the heck out of it and installing GT5 and 6 and i've been having a blast with it. You could get a used PS3 for around $100 and modding it, just make sure that the model you buy can be modded
Gran Turismo 6 is not the worst title of the series. It has tracks that never appeared in GT Sport or GT7, like Ascari or Silverstone. There are way more cars to choose from. Plus, there is a working online community server, lobbies, seasonal events and custom tracks can be played online again
I think Polyphony were successful in transitioning Gran Turismo from an arcadey circuit racer to something which is now just nearly touching simulator territory (especially in VR, it's really very close to driving a car irl).
I feel like for a lot of us that grew up with GT1 and GT2 it's hard to enjoy the newest GTs (looking at you Sport and 7). Because even if they have single player content, ultimately the focus is still on multiplayer. I understand tons of people enjoy that, but for me I just want a single player game. I wish Polyphony would have made a standalone game for the multiplayer mode and one for single.
Sony: *releases the PS4* People who were still playing on PS3: 🎶Give me one reason to remain confined within the fences🎶 Polyphony Digital: *releases Gran Turismo 6 on the PS3 a few days after the release of the PS4*
As someone who grew up with gt 6 i still get amazed at the amout of content that i missed or just didnt understand (as a person whose first language isnt English) an after this video i probably will play it again just to get the full experience
In terms of video games, I'm 100% with you. Biggest disappointment I've had. Give me a career. How difficult is that? Especially given they'd already perfected it. Don't mess with a perfect formula.
PD has been doing it the same way for awhile. They release a game at the start of a console's life, to show off the new capabilities, and then they release another game to showcase how far the hardware can be pushed.
I love GT6. Wish it had a more classic menu, not the fitz as a forced starter car, used car dealer and more campaign events tho. But i had more fun with it than any other GT game besides GT4
I liked GT6 as someone who didn't get a PS4 for a while it was nice to have a big release on PS3. My main issue with it though was the trophy list. It was too easy to platinum and you didnt even need to do most of the events
GT6 and TDU2 reinvigorated my love for car culture and racing games. (I pretty much stopped playing new racing games from 2008-2011. I felt like everything released within those years were either Crashy McCrashfest with no car customization or Overly Serious Sim with no car customization.) Long story short, I really appreciated the variety of cars and things to do in GT6.
I really loved GT6, it was so awesome. Sure it lacked used cars but it had so much good stuff. I cannot believe why people say it is the worst. For me it was the best.
Am I the only person to think gran turismo 6 is the best in the series? Yes it has some problems, but the nostalgia available from when you were a kid is just amazing. It has a lot of cars in it too. Gran turismo 6 had a bunch of new stuff like the senna tribute and goodwood. Which in my opinion was the icing on the cake for the game.
I never got to use the feature to make a circuit in gran turismo 6 because the server went down for that game in 2018 right when i got enough space to do it. Wish they could bring that back but I probably see that they wouldn't. I stated playing gran turismo 5 and 6 late in 2015.
Of all things, I wish I could understand the thing with the concept cars from the brands. From what I remember, we must play the thing, win the challenge and still have to buy the car for a very high price. Whoever tought this was a good idea should take a beating
I loved GT6. I remember my brothers & I having time attack battles. They had GTR’s, supras, whatever other fast ass car. I had an EG6. They struggled while I handled business! Super cool times. Miss that shit.
On the contrary, GT6 was the ultimate version of everything that all the previous titles were. It's exceptional if one dares to remove the nostalgia glasses when observing older games and daring to be less impressed by the ones that came after too. The game has its flaws and they are loud, but we will never have so many interesting cars to collect and tracks to experience in the amount we had, plus the bonus experiences like Senna's presence and events.
After GT5, 6th was soooooooo dark even in day races, that my eyes hurt. I just couldn't play it. I had a good 1080p TV back then with full area backlight (not cheap edge lights) and still it was ultra-dark.
The fact that the longest endurance race in GT6 is only 24 minutes was disappointing. In GT5 the ultimate challenge was completing the 24 hours of Le Mans and 24 hours of the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Even the 6 hour and 9 hour endurance races were fun.
What keeps me closer to gt6 is the fact that fwd and mr/rr physics were slightly more realistic with the lift off oversteer, rallying was great but it's still a shame to this day not being able to have more content for offline. I still go back and fourth between 5 and 6 and have 3400+ hours between the two just before offline one after another. It was pretty magical with the lobbies being extremely relaxed and the fact you could hook up your keyboard to the console no problem. Many good hours on player created courses running 450pp class sh and great great friends i made. 4 is fun but i prefer on the controller for some reason.
I'm really hoping that if we get a gran turismo 8 for the ps5 that it's what 4 was but better. 7 has quite a few cars already, and I understand it takes a lot longer for the design team to build them for the game, but we currently have gt7's entire roster of cars. If they've been working on 8 piece by piece this entire time on the side while they improve 7, (or maybe mainly now since 7 is just on minor update support now it seems) then 8 should have more of what we like. Hopefully polyphony and Kaz have taken to heart the community feedback and make the needed changes.
GT5 was probably the worst of the 'full' titles, followed by GT Sport on launch. Although Sport got a lot better after two years of updates. GT6 was like GT5 but with thankfully much faster menus and loading, more quality car models and content. It also got more events later too.
Nice video, personally i will always have a softspot for gt6. You forgot to mention in the video but while the game was still online it had a custom track creator for tablets. You could create a track, set the elevation decoration on the side of the track and stuff like that. When you were finished you could drive around on your own track! And if I remember correctly you could host your tracks in online lobbies
On day 1 felt like a crash grab with that preorder bs and those 24hr races were replaced with 24 min races But over the course of it life it offers the most content out of all the GT games Not the best but far from worse
I've always wondered why I never played more than a few hours of GT5 and 6 (single player).. GT5 Car roulette online races were 5/5, but the single player, especially the presentation itself was somehow lackluster. I can't remember anything about this game, but I remember just getting bored very quickly. Maybe with an emulator I should revisit these games and try to finish them.
Problem is the new GT could be great if ABS wasn’t so fakey. GT literally training millions of people to drive entirely wrong and slow. If they took ABS off or had realistic ABS they would be driving completely backwards. People have no idea how to approach corners, how to trail break which is everything.
Imagine a racing game without a hand break and with only a decelerate and reverse button, this game has zero drifting and it's like at every turn there is a stop sign, the majority of the time in races you're only going 45 miles per hour so if you wanna play a traffic simulator this game is for you
Correction there is a hand break, just it's not on the default control scheme at all you have to make a custom configuration for your controller if you want barebones basic racing game controls
@@joshuajones589Theres alot of stuff in the game you must configure you can’t even properly play the game with the default settings on PS3 as gas is X and Brake is Square instead of R2 and L2 like literally every other racing game
@@toyotacorollaaltis8613 wrong, all racing games on PS2 before it had the same controls, all the classics had x as gas and square as break. Gran Turismo still to this day has those controls
Reasons why I didn't liked GT6 before: -You no longer win prize cars by beating a cup. You must complete half or full progress of a category. (My theory is either they choose careful Premium Cars after GT5's Standard Cars criticism or in hope to open your wallet for credits, which was a thing) -No Track Editor. Sorry there is but only for mobile devices which I didn't have back then... -Plus I wasn't a fan of most new tracks, especially Silverstone and Matterhorn (Matterhorn was overused in I believe IB?). -New songs was disappointing (except some, and the OGs), and why they sound so low? What's the deal with modern racing games lowering their music so much? All for the engines??? -The menu was nice, but it also removed the "new places, new world and felling" Gran Turismo was known for. -Not much variety in races, which is good if you like one car, but I want more variety... -The new Tires and Suspension makes faster cars feel nice, but not for slow cars (plus they sometimes flip over in a huge bumb-y corner thing, but maybe it's a 1.0.4 bug). -Updates last sooooo long... (which is why I stopped at 1.0.4) -They have butchered some cars customization, like the Suzuki Cappuccino... All of that killed what it means Gran Turismo to me... But the more time past, and I look back, the more I like it, because: -The graphics looked complete and good (although less realistic, kinda like a transparent take similar to Black Ops 1, but still good). -The HUD, UI and feel is also nice! -The new tires air or something is a nice welcoming change to expand the realism of GT! -The removal of the Used Dealership, after the nightmare of GT5, means I can now focus on the race and less about the rare cars that may never come back and my money. Seriously, while it was fun, it was also worrying... -Getting lost on the 1200+ cars in GT6 now they're all in the regular dealership is still as fun as the older ones. Now with recommended and the GT Visions option to check! (And the search, but it's not in 1.0.4) -The License Test are ridiculously easy, there's fewer than ever and are only use to open a new category (B, A, IB, etc.). -The Goodwood Special Events was actually nice! -We memed about it before, but in the end there may be never, ever exist another driving in the Moon event like GT6 did. -Finally I can now choose my gear to wear! -Saving colors is also nice! In the end: I did liked GT6. But it sure took some time...
In my opinion, the problem is the lack of free car selection for arcade mode like gt4 had (also gt5 have the same issue) and the favorite cars system doesnt help, since its limited to 100 cars
I bought it in 2019 for like 5 euros because I haven't played it earlier and I was really having fun driving. I just focused on the racing itself because as the video says this game had many features lacking compared to some older GT games. Nonetheless I would recommend it to someone who haven't played it yet
I want a video about the offline content of Gran Turismo 7. It surprised me how little it has to offer compared to Gran Turismo Sport. And how much it relies to online DRM to a point if you don't have internet you will NOT be able to play the game at all, even offline. Which makes no sense considering you have a Disc, you have the console, you paid for everything. It's so weird. I really hope that people stop buying GT games that rely mostly or only on Online content, it's insane to thik you will pay for a game to play and enjoy at home just to discover you need to have a working server AND a subscription to play 80% of it's content.
Gran Turismo novice here, played Gran Turismo 5 and Gran Turismo 6 back-to-back. I find Gran Turismo 6 to be superior and way more fun than fifth: -Better physics and suspension, Gran Turismo 6 physics feels like improved GTA IV physics -PP limitation as an instant indicator of which car should you bring for the race -A valid star progression. No dumb A-spec grind to unlock 40 level 24-hour Nurburgring Endurance race or something -Way better loading time. It's like GT6 loads 2 times faster than GT5. -Way better graphics. This and The Last of Us really looks like PS4 title. I found this Moon missions to be extremely enjoyable, Moon physics are something else. You've mentioned cars with no lights. Hehe, happened to me when I was racing Formula Gran Turismo in Spa Endurance race to suddenly find out there is no artificial lightning on the track. I won anyway. Devs should have really add some 4-hour Endurance races in GT6 like they did for GT5
As a guy that has my favorite game being 4, and 2nd being 6...I'll have to say that it isn't XD GT6's online community was something pretty special as well. I wish Polyphony would have at least left things like tyre degradation, fuel consumption, etc for offline play. That really disappointed me.
after they took down seasonal events going back through gt6 and 5 is so unrewarding. especially gt6 you got 1200cars but only a handful of prize cars like what the hell polyphony
And then only a few actually have interiors like the r34 15 different versions only one with an interior would it have been so hard to just copy paste the interior in all of them
Gt Sport is basically Gran Turismo lite. Online only, miniscule number of cars, not to mention you have to be online to access the dealership (Brand Central). The amount of content is so scarce compared to other GT games. Except for the great gameplay, there's nothing much to it. Not to mention the servers' are closing down by the end of the month.
GT6s online experience far surpassed any other Gran Turismo game since. GT5 Is obviously close but all the hacked cars near the end of that games lifecycle doesn’t help
GT6 was one i bought at early stage but was always disappointed on fact it didn't feature any real endurance events, as all the 24minute ones etc, felt like total insanity/impossible to do.
I honestly recently got a used copy of GT 6 from Germany in a very solid condition and even though the updates took forever, after that I have a good time playing GT 6 on my PS3. Also, the GT 6 theme song is very kick ass.
I never liked gran truismo 6. My biggest discrepancy to the game is that even though graphics has become better than the previous gt’s, performance was a huge disappointment. It had a much higher chance of crashing after finishing races, bots have become more aggressive, and lastly, stats and measurements have become more poor between the player and bots. Bots can even pass the player at a “slower speed” which definitely describes the inaccurate programming of the game. I absolutely loved gran turismo 4 and 5. But after playing gran turismo 6, I just left the franchise at a sudden moment, losing interest to ever play it again.
I personally think it's a step up from gt5, yes gt5 has features gt6 doesn't have, but overall, it's worth it. The only reason it didn't sell well is most people were waiting for a ps4 rerelease, i think it's mostly a timing issue
Another well made video on GT, always great learning some more things in regards to this series. Props to you and your editors for consistently pushing out amazing videos like this! ☺
I hated this game. Cars all felt awkward to me, the single player kinda sucked, the only aspect that was semi good was online lobbies but you couldn’t find a race that didn’t use Racing Soft tires, which felt like total shit on just about every car. The sports tires felt good but it was like the only way to be fast on the racing tires was just to throw smoke everywhere. Then you always had that one 13 year old that thought they were cool because mommy let them buy the Tomahawk so they could go in and be a dipshit in car meet lobbies. This game also ignited my hatred for performance based rating systems because 500PP would imply two cars at 500PP are equal. Maybe not at the same track, they have strengths and weaknesses, but cars that had good handling ruled. You couldn’t pick a random car you like, tune it to 500PP and be competitive online. At 500PP I remember the Shelby Series 1 Supercharged absolutely dominating. I mean it’s a system implemented to promote balance, but still it was “Either use this car or be two seconds a lap slower.” Just about every other game with PP or PI or whatever have this same issue, it doesn’t add to the balance at all, it just gives you three or four cars that you can use competitively at this particular “performance” bracket and everything else is a waste of time. They’re so ineffective I remember some leagues having to do their own BoP for cars. Like one car would be at 552, one would be at 538, one would be at 561, it was all over the place and there was no way to enforce it in just a random lobby so outside of that environment it didn’t do anything.
A funny little thing i remembered on GT5, the game's GT by Citroën despite being a "Gran Turismo" car (a car that should be exclusive to GT) it actually appeared in Asphalt 8 back in its midlife crisis days with the RND sh!t. To this day the Citroën GT is the only Gran Turismo car to appear out of Gran Turismo
Gran turismo 5 was awful, gran turismo 6 was awful, gt sport wasn’t bad for what it was meant to be, and gt7 is back to being awful. They’ve lost all idea in what makes a good game, and have turned what was a great racing game in GT4, with its multitude of paths you can take, to a linear game that has but one route to take, giving you the exact car to win, for the next race it wants you to do. It’s an awfully designed game, the AI is crap, the first 17 cars on the track may as well not even be there, you just fly past them, they’re pointless, the events are boring and repetitive, the cars it rewards you with are always disappointing because they want you to grind forever or repeat the same race over and over to make the money to buy the cars you really want. No selling ability until you’ve practically completed the game, and you really no longer need to use it. Awful race selection, no group C races or LMP races. Many tracks missing.. it’s abysmal. And it will be the last gt game I buy. I must admit they fooled me with their reveal trailer showing the map type set up returning, but it was once again a disappointment. Like pretty much everything in the game, and every game made by PD since GT5.
I've played GT4 a lot on ps2 and GT6 for me was great, it's at least a 8/10 if you don't compare it to GT4 or GT2. Proud to have the Platinum Trophy on my account.
The only thing about it that rubbed me the wrong way was them getting rid of the real time endurance races for 24 minute long ones, what's the point of even including them? Other than that, the game was great, my friend group got quite few years off of playing that game waiting for Sport, shame Sport wasn't exactly what we hoped for. GT6 also ran a whole lot better than GT5 did. That game felt like it had PS1 levels of loading times, even just hitting restart race was a long load time. It wasn't until much later that I played GT5 with a SSD upgraded PS3 that I actually got to enjoy it and see it as a good game. So to me, GT6 was the best PS3 GT game and easily second only to GT4. I think if Polyphony takes GT7, changes around the career, removes the weird gacha ticket system, removes the cafe book, doesn't model the in game market on real world pricing trends, carries over all cars/tracks, improves the AI with Sophy, adds many more cars/tracks, then slaps "Gran Turismo 8" on the box, we are going to have a really special game on the same level as GT4 and GT6 in the future. The formula is there, they are so close man.
GT6 was the only one I owned and didn't put much time in. GT6 has a lot of features, but the core racing is absolute garbage. The fact every single race has you started 40+ seconds behind and just doing hotlaps past completely useless AI opponents where you hit 2nd place at the start of the final lap and rubber band up to the leader who you pass on the final turn got old really quickly. The AI drivers were just rolling roadblocks who you never actually raced due to how the events were setup. GT6 is a neat bit of garbage that heralded the collapse of the "real driving simulator" and its mutation into the "real rubber band simulator" with a curated "experience" replacing the game.
GT6 actually has the Ford Taurus SHO (3rd gen) driveable in the game, GT7 doesn't, so automatically 7 is a flop and they will never add it, or the 1st or 2nd generations to any of their games ever again, so I can say with confidence that the modern era of racing games truly is a lost cause
Becouse gt6 had ps2 era cars, every car is now made from scratch quality over quanity, if you took the standard cars away gt6 had about the same amount of cars as gt7, and if we bring up car sounds gt7 destroys gt6,
Not sure, gt7 is at least better than gt6 for me by a large margin, gt7 is for me the best gran turismo since gt4 and the best racing game in the last decade, besides career mode gt7 is much better than previous games its a fact, much better sounds, customazion, graphics full vr support, gt7 is for me the best gran turismo game since gt4, and it would be the best gran turismo game of all time if they did a proper career mode like gt4, gt7 easily has the biggest pontential of any gran turismo game so far
I bought the game very late and i had like 30GBs of updates and my ps3 always crashed at 70%, so i practically wasnt able to play, besides bypassing updates once
You can't actually play "all" of GT5 and 6 without getting creative with hacking or emulation because of the DLC. GT6 has significantly more DLC than 5 did, to the point where I didn't even bother playing GT6 once I finally got a PS3 in 2019
i really enjoy and loved GT6, it's basically a more refined more content GT5 version, so in my book GT4, GT6 IS GOAT, GT5 was ok i like the vibe it gave off, but let's be honest GT6 is the full version of 5
I think GT 5 was the worse in the series. GT 6 fixed alot of the mistakes in GT 5 and was a much better game. I would rank them in this order: 4, 1, 7, 3, 6, 2 & 5.
@@DoVe_7 you are a man of culture, take care ill watch your vids once they are up If i can recommend one more game, more due to its obscurity, test drove overdrive / brotherhood of speed. Don't really remember much about GT5 or GT6 which tells me they were not that memorable. For me at least. My fondest memories are from GT4. I think I played GT5 more than GT6. But honestly, I think GT7 is a good game. Probably not the best, but I keep going back to it.
What did you think of Gran Turismo 6? Let me know in the comments below and I hope you have a great day!
My Most Played Gran Turismo Yet!
7 is the worst
It's Not even Gran Turismo
GT7 is the worst in my opinion.
Trash. Absolute trash. An absolute waste of time (even tough I barely played it) and money (even tough I got it with a gigantic discount).

I really liked Gran Turismo 6 back in the day (especially since I could not afford a PS4 at the time), but it's still a very confusing title as it could have easily been a PS4 launch title as well.
Ikr, what were they thinking with that decision
They could've just used PS3 to build theor game on and improve it on PS4 what Turn10 should've done when making Forza Horizon 2 available for xbox 360.

Out of every gt game I miss, I miss GT6 the most. It was something special, beyond what words can even describe, almost like a love letter.

It was the online community of GT5 and GT6 that will forever be missed.

I like GT6 but the absence of endurance races killed most of the fun for me. Endurance races are the best thing for me in all GTs.
They had endurance races in the game. It was for the Super events. They were just reduced from hours to minutes.
@@cckiller0053what kind of endurance is that, if I can’t race for 24h straight🫠
@@cckiller005324 minutes was the length of some regular races in GT4.

Things 6 improved over 5:
- More cars and tracks, including upgrades to a few dozen standard cars and tracks
- Improved physics, now simulating body roll and more advanced suspension mechanics, making 5 feels comparatively flat
- More tracks with time and weather simulation
- Faster load times
- Parts purchasable from nearly any menu in the game
- No more permanent unreversible engine and weight upgrades
- No more single-use paint chips; all paint you unlocks was permanent and infinite use
- More performance parts (NOS and brakes being more notable)
- Substantially better customization options, particularly on standard cars, but also added options on premiums; also added a custom wing feature with adjustable height and width with more depth than even 7 has
- Car search feature
- No more RNG used dealership to find a car you wanted
- Slightly better lighting and visuals
- Menus simpler and easier to navigate
- New lobby features
- Better replay functionality
Things that were delayed to very late post-launch updates:
- B-Spec, around 1.5 years after launch (and
didn’t add any new campaign features, just a different way to replay campaign races that was basically letting a slow AI drive your car)
- Course maker, nearly 3 years after launch, and the editor wasn’t even in the game, instead only available as a tablet app, and didn’t have all the promised functionality. However, it was an incredible addition, but was tied to online like GTS and 7 and is no longer usable, so out was for nothing
- more than half the special events. I believe at launch there was only Goodwood and the Moon missions, with the Vettel challenges being added a few months after launch but sierra and senna stuff not coming till well over a year after launch. GT5 had about 3x the special event content
- VGT; we only had the Mercedes for the longest time, and I believe only the BMW and Mitsubishi came in the first year, with the program slowly picking up steam in the 2nd year
Things removed/not carried over or downgraded from 5 to 6:
- Shuffle mode in lobbies; arguable the community’s favorite feature, and still hasn’t returned to any game despite so many requests
- Speed Test mode (route X)
- All previous photo travel locations
- AI; substantially more rubber banded and dumb. They would back off and let you win in the final straight, and would give up in corners; in some circumstances you could pull along side then and they’d slow down to about 20mph; worst AI in the series by far
- No more used car dealership
- AI cars couldn’t rollover like in 5, operated on different physics to the player’s car
- Vehicle damage; only scratches and scrapes would appear during collisions, dynamic deformation and removable parts was only in GT5
- More aggressive and restrictive auto-reset to track with no settings to adjust it
- Massive frame rate issues, often dropping to the 20’s with large grids and/or weather
- Sounds with minimal changes despite marketing they were “upgraded”
- Capped garage to 500 cars, overflow going to a “stock yard”, removing upgrades and taking forever to load and reorganize
- Campaign relegated to mobile game style progression, getting stars in each individual level that didn’t impact any other levels, forcing a much more linear style of play than previous games (but not as linear as 7)
- no in-game course maker, only once it was added waaayy after launch you could upload tracks via a tablet app, and you could only save 12 at a time. In GT5 the track generator (while very simple and lacked control) was in the game, you could save as many tracks as you wanted, and is still accessible since it’s not tied to internet features
- special events list substantially smaller despite the amount of new and carried over content
IMO, GT6 really suffered from its terrible AI, disappointing campaign, and some fan favorite game modes and features for casual arcade and lobby play at endgame.
GT6 was just an unnecessary release. Killed the game for a while tbh
GT6 also felt really awful with a controller compared to GT7

GT6 was one of the first games I played online in 2015. I remember I joined a Willow Springs lobby and we would cut across onto the dirt and drive from one side of the track to the other in a sort of off road drag race. Super fun
Makes you wonder why they have cut so much. Licences with WRC, Nascar, Top Gear, senna and even the moon gave them so much depth. This compared with the lack of tracks and cars, 7 feels like a shell compared to 5/6.
Most models were hands me down from the GT3/GT4 days and already looked dated 10 years ago.
@@mooreanonumbers no, you're wrong. Most of this additions were original from the game or used from gt5 like the nascar cars
I can't wait to buy myself a new PC so I could emulate PS 3 games. Even if I love GT 1 to 4, I really miss 5 and 6. Unlike GT 7, the PS 3 titles still have that Gran turismo "soul".
Currently GT5 can be played although it does crash at times, I tried GT6 on it and worked for about 5 min mostly before completely freezing
Friendly advice for you:
If you're not the type of person that has the patience to do shitton of trial and error and research to make GT5/GT6(especially 6) work on rpcs3(even if you look for solutions online, those solutions doesn't necessarily work for every system) and also don't want to be on edge every time about crashes, then I recommend just playing it on ps3.

PD has been doing it the same way for awhile. They release a game at the start of a console's life, to show off the new capabilities, and then they release another game to showcase how far the hardware can be pushed.
And now with GT7 they did both at once to make easy cash, greedy basterds

I felt like everything released within those years were either Crashy McCrashfest with no car customization or Overly Serious Sim with no car customization.)

The game that really got me into the series was this and I loved it so disappointed with gt7 and sport when compared to 6
Am I the only person to think gran turismo 6 is the best in the series? Yes it has some problems, but the nostalgia available from when you were a kid is just amazing. It has a lot of cars in it too. Gran turismo 6 had a bunch of new stuff like the senna tribute and goodwood. Which in my opinion was the icing on the cake for the game.
Gran turismo 6 is absolutely amazing.
I never got to use the feature to make a circuit in gran turismo 6 because the server went down for that game in 2018 right when i got enough space to do it. Wish they could bring that back but I probably see that they wouldn't. I stated playing gran turismo 5 and 6 late in 2015.
GT6 came out at possibly the worst time, just as we were going from the seventh to the eighth generation of consoles.
GT6 is my favorite. I think it’s fun.

Reasons why I didn't liked GT6 before:
-You no longer win prize cars by beating a cup. You must complete half or full progress of a category. (My theory is either they choose careful Premium Cars after GT5's Standard Cars criticism or in hope to open your wallet for credits, which was a thing)
-No Track Editor.
(which is why I stopped at 1.0.4)
-They have butchered some cars customization, like the Suzuki Cappuccino...
All of that killed what it means Gran Turismo to me...
But the more time past, and I look back, the more I like it, because:
-The graphics looked complete and good (although less realistic, kinda like a transparent take similar to Black Ops 1, but still good).
(And the search, but it's not in 1.0.4)
-The License Test are ridiculously easy, there's fewer than ever and are only use to open a new category (B, A, IB, etc.).
-The Goodwood Special Events was actually nice!
-We memed about it before, but in the end there may be never, ever exist another driving in the Moon event like GT6 did.
-Finally I can now choose my gear to wear!
-Saving colors is also nice!
In the end: I did liked GT6. But it sure took some time...
btw the used dealership thing is the dumbest complain i've ever heard since its basically integrated in the normal dealership :v
I find Gran Turismo 6 to be superior and way more fun than fifth:
-Better physics and suspension, Gran Turismo 6 physics feels like improved GTA IV physics
-PP limitation as an instant indicator of which car should you bring for the race
-A valid star progression. No dumb A-spec grind to unlock 40 level 24-hour Nurburgring Endurance race or something
-Way better loading time.
As a guy that has my favorite game being 4, and 2nd being 6...I'll have to say that it isn't XD
GT6's online community was something pretty special as well. I wish Polyphony would have at least left things like tyre degradation, fuel consumption, etc for offline play. That really disappointed me.
@JZScirocco For _real?_ It would definitely be worth dusting off my old PS3 for.
2:20 they wanted to milk their customers once again before switching to the now console. As greedy as japanese publishers are.
after they took down seasonal events going back through gt6 and 5 is so unrewarding.
especially gt6 you got 1200cars but only a handful of prize cars like what the hell polyphony
GT6 is perfection to me, still play it today
After GT7 released, I have not heard anybody say this.
I mean it’s a system implemented to promote balance, but still it was “Either use this car or be two seconds a lap slower.”
Just about every other game with PP or PI or whatever have this same issue, it doesn’t add to the balance at all, it just gives you three or four cars that you can use competitively at this particular “performance” bracket and everything else is a waste of time.
No it isn't, the Bugatti VGT, Infiniti VGT and Nissan VGT have all appeared outside of GT
Gran Turismo 6 also had a track creator
Was Gran Turismo 6 the Worst in the Series?
me: yes.
GT6 is a neat bit of garbage that heralded the collapse of the "real driving simulator" and its mutation into the "real rubber band simulator" with a curated "experience" replacing the game.
i never played GT in my life but i know that some people played GT6 and the ending song is just nostalgic
I enjoyed it, the only fault was it being on PS3 and not PS4. Coming out after the PS4 released hurt it more then anything else.
I played GT6 but I don't remember much about the game 😕 🤔, great work dove I love your GT content respect 👏 👌
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy them 👍
GT6 actually has the Ford Taurus SHO (3rd gen) driveable in the game, GT7 doesn't, so automatically 7 is a flop and they will never add it, or the 1st or 2nd generations to any of their games ever again, so I can say with confidence that the modern era of racing games truly is a lost cause
GT6 and GT4 are my all time favs. Mind you, I haven't spent much time with GT7 yet as I'm still rocking a PS3. lol. GT6 is a gem of a PS3 GT release.
I played Gran Turismo 6 BEFORE Gran Turismo 5
and I thought: oh man is 5 so much better then 6
at least they still give you enough money to go grab another entry level car if you want, i usually go for the city turbo and ignore the fit
You can't actually play "all" of GT5 and 6 without getting creative with hacking or emulation because of the DLC. GT6 has significantly more DLC than 5 did, to the point where I didn't even bother playing GT6 once I finally got a PS3 in 2019
i really enjoy and loved GT6, it's basically a more refined more content GT5 version, so in my book GT4, GT6 IS GOAT, GT5 was ok i like the vibe it gave off, but let's be honest GT6 is the full version of 5
You and Eden have made me get back into racing games and im glad for that. Also got me back into GT
Just fired up my PS3 for the first time in a long time. GT6 is really fun once you get to the International B.
Same 😉👍 with the spec 2 mod
I had a Ps3+Gt6+LogitechG25. You never ever had a faster Onlinerace with your clique ever.
Perfect quick fun
I still have some replays saved
I personally liked this one more than 5 but it is less expansive than 5 and perhaps more hardcover GT fans would enjoy 5 more
I think GT 5 was the worse in the series. GT 6 fixed alot of the mistakes in GT 5 and was a much better game. I would rank them in this order: 4, 1, 7, 3, 6, 2 & 5.
Tokyo xtreme racer needs some ❤
I'm plannin on playing that soon , loved Import Tuner Challenge and it made me wanna visit the other games!
@@DoVe_7 you are a man of culture, take care ill watch your vids once they are up
If i can recommend one more game, more due to its obscurity, test drove overdrive / brotherhood of speed. A racing gaming with cheesy characters cheesy story which lets you race all over the world ala midnight club style, and oh god the music bro ja rule, what more do u need to know hahahahah
Bring Sierra back
I think it was the second best GT after the 4. But it is my opinion
Men you really improved especially on your writing skills
Its both me and my editors writting them together so we can make it more interesting to watch, thanks for the kind feedback 👍
Don't really remember much about GT5 or GT6 which tells me they were not that memorable. For me at least. My fondest memories are from GT4. I think I played GT5 more than GT6. But honestly, I think GT7 is a good game. Probably not the best, but I keep going back to it.
I wish Polyphony Digital developed Gran Turismo 6 for PlayStation 4.
