- Gran Turismo 5 introduced something new to the series at the time which was Premium Cars, with over 1000+ cars in this game only 200 of them were actually Premium so today I want to see if you can beat this game with only those cars

GIGACHINO and GIGABEAT was the best car you can drive literally from GT1 to now, Kei cars are unfair when it comes to corner because they are so small and it barely noticeable by AI and players. I still remember back when I beat GT300 class with GIGABEAT on GT2, even MINI can beat them like all those GT300 cars should gone to Scrapyard instead of racing tracks.

The Corvette C6 was the goat in this playthrough imo, especially with how it handled itself on the wet even on slick tires. Quite literally obliterated the competition lol, it really pulled its weight in the later races as well. It would be nice to see more challenges like this, was really great to watch through. Great video as always Dove, also nice to see you got the GT mechanic himself Mrxbas in here too.
This is literally how I played it back on release (well, different cars, but anyway)
My thinking was, if they're going to have interiors, I want to be in that interior while racing. Of course Sport Truck got in the way, had to use a Dodge Ram for that, but I'm pretty sure everything else I did with premium cars
Bugatti Veyron was a standard model not a premium from Gran Turismo PSP
GT5 and 6 I always played with only premium cars because the physiscs of standard cars is simplified and don't give a good driving feel. Because of this difference, the standard cars are way easy to exploit and drive as a pure casual game and, as consequence, you can see that basically all open model challenges is (were) filled with some vehicle of this type. The fact that the Cappuccino and the Challenger had RM variants as well. Though if that was the Corvette ZR1, when fully modded out, it is as powerful as LMP and Group C cars and in arcade mode, those cars spawn as equal competition for it.
Oh my gosh I just been thinking about this the other day if someone like you would do this exact kind of challenge in GT5, glad to see it come to reality! xD
Don't forget everytime you obtain a premium car, a banger music playing at background.
Pro tip for the Cappuccino: always shift up at around 6.5k rpm. You maximise time in the power band this way.

Cool Challenge/Video. I love the GT Challenge Videos. Maybe you can repeat the European Cars only Challenge but this time in GT5 for example? Or the Premium Car Challenge in GT6 to name a few ideas😅?

emulation is not entirely there yet but its impressive you can beat a challenge using it already
The emulator seems to dislike the constant menu changes. But I have ran the game like 4+ days straight doing the B-Spec endurance series. I did the 24HR Nurburgring like 3 times in various cars.

Personally I always saw the Corvette as an absolute monster of a car, so, no wonder it was so easy

That's what I've had this on my mind for a longest time.
GT5 was the first GT game I ever saw. My dad had it on PS3. I was too busy playing Minecraft to know it but that was my first
GT5 is wild with its Standard and Premium cars, in case like the Bugatti and Enzo its even more sad because they where ports from the PSP version of an older GT. So these high- end cars are just obtainable as used cars besides cars like the beloved Honda City Turbo. Cool challenge, a shame that the AI in GT5 and GT6 is just so slow and allows this easy...
wish there were more than 17 racing modifications because i miss those so much from the ps1
I have tried this exact challenge, but I made some extra rules:
1) I have to complete as many championships as I can,
2) I have to beat GT-All stars (A-spec), GT-All stars (B-spec), Polyphony Digital cup (A-spec), Polyphony Digital cup (B-spec), GTWC (A-spec), GTWC (B-spec), Dream car shampionship (A-spec), Dream car Championship (B-spec) and as many events as I can.
For those interested, I did on V.1.0.0, so I didn't have any of the bonus cars. It resulted on re-using some cars for different championships.
I did complete the challenge with some work.
Me when this was my second game ever and this was exactly how I played the game... Literally didn't figure out about the used car dealer until after completing the 24hr races. Me and my dad's jaw dropped LOL

I play GT6 on RPCS3 emulator because it runs half decent now and wanted to see what its like. The game is good ( sadly cant have no update patches without crashes) but has flaws.
I always play with Premium cars since there is a notable quality dip to the standard ones. Even then competitors driving premium and standard cars mixed within always stands out. The game forcing you to buy a FIT RS at the start is dumb and the AI is so slow every race is you overtaking everyone from behind to 1st place. Only standing starts are Kart races :)
how it runs half decent Im stuck in novice permanently because the championship just freeze the screen but still give sound
I think I've updated mine, it's at 1.05, my pc is not at least close to ideal (ryzen 5 3600 with RX5700XT) but is hell to play gran turismo 6, always crashing, gran turismo 5 crashes only after 3 to 4 races.
what guide you used to config your RPCS3 to gran turismo 6?

so in the dream car championship, if Monza is wet, everyone will pit for the wet tyres, after the race they don't change tyres in tokyo, that's why they pit

This car goes to 302kmh for all default settings but if you tune it enough it can go to 337kmh and exceed it, it's significantly better in gran turismo 6 going 370kmh in patch 1.02 and up, 402kmh with 1067 bhp in patch 1.00
Ai's don't use full throttle in A spec. In B spec and Professional Arcade difficulty, they do.
They NEED to add the C6Z in GT7. One of the best Corvettes ever made with its light weight and strong LS7 engine
How did you handle the Historic Race Car championship?
From my experience, unless you buy one of the 20M Cr. racecars, or manage to buy a Chaparral 2J or 2D from the used car dealer, the only car that can beat that championship is a maxed out Shelby Cobra. Winning all three races with it is *HARD* . Pretty much the only struggle I had with the campaign races when I decided to re-play GT5 some months ago. Apart from this, the potato AI means that you can win events even with severe handicaps imposed on yourself.
The historic race car championship, ah, that shit brings back some trauma.
I remember having to buy a Camaro and doing the race modifications, then tuning the damn thing to perfection, and even then, it wasn't an easy win.
After about a week, I managed to get the chaparral behind me on the starting line which gave me an advantage, I eventually won, the second race was not that hard except for the long straight, I mean it is doable but it requires some skill. I could've bought the chaparral but I didn't want to dump 5 million for a car I'd use just once.

I recall the c6 zr1 being the better car but it may of been dlc? I don't recall but it has better top speed and accl than the z06 with group c lvl handling but if it was dlc than the viper acr would've done numbers too as it basically the aame as the zr1 just without premium

i thought i softlocked my gt5 save because i speant lots of my money on useless cars. i bought a used corvette one day but i still couldnt do the harder events. that was, until i found out online that you can win the mazda furai concept form the b-spec nr-a roadster cup, and then went on to easily win every race of gt5's gtwc
The fact that the standard cars are mostly taken from GT4 that came out 6 YEARS PRIOR is so lazy considering how much time Polyphony had to develop GT5.

Hello dove! I wanted to ask you a question because I recently got my old ps3 to work again and I was facing some problems, only with this specific game. I did all the updates, but I have not done the 8gb recommendated installation for the game (in order to speed up the waiting time as it says), and , basically, I cannot do anything. I press the GT Mode in order to play the game, and the GT logo is on my screen for hours… Is there something I should do to prevent this from happening?

I fix 'Crash on loading screen' by signing out of my ps3 account. Next attempt of running the game does not crash. There is no reason to be logged in for GT5 while there are no live servers anymore.

I used a nsx with a racing modification for a run with a keyboard to make it intresting once but I still dominated most of the races the gt5 ai really sucks

I think the Veyron is a Standard Car because Polyphony probably made it for GT PSP before GT5 and therefore they probably ported the model from that one instead of making a new one, ugh... 😬

zr1 racing mod is to good it can easily go to 251mph and has 200mph corner speed too and should have same grip as c6 in the rain unless that was the zr1
