What did you think of Gran Turismo 5? Let me know here in the comments and drop a like and sub if you enjoyed the content! Have a wonderfull rest of your day lads ♥️
5 was the last good singleplayer Gran Turismo experience IMO. 6, Sport and 7 are a shadow of Gran Turismo's former self in terms of singleplayer content. Still great fun online but it's seriously disappointing how little content there is otherwise.
My parents gifted me PS3 Super Slim with GT5 and it was my childhood game. Got Chaparral 2J from a ticket. Then lost my savegame (it was from 2013) because I gave it to my friend to install HEN, his TV was 1080p, but mine was 720p. Made a options reset and all of my savegames broke 😢
The online aspect was the main selling point and really made the game a lot of fun, especially since the singleplayer content didn't get completely destroyed (unlike GT7). It's a shame you did not mention the Red Bull X2010 events though, they are among the most infamous in the entire franchise among with races like Mission 34 in GT4.
I managed to get a Gold in one of the Red Bull X2010 races by absolutely cheesing it by taking a big shortcut. I think it was on the Monza circuit, and I was able to cut through the tight two corners at the start. I was only able to get a bronze on the other circuits, though.
@@blobbem The Monza one is very cheesable, yeah, but the Suzuka and Nürburgring races are incredibly difficult and don't have many ways to be cheesed (especially Suzuka).
I love the vibe that GT5 and GT6 have. These games always make me feel like I'm sitting in a nice lounge and listening to jazz music, and the physics are superb to this day. I would actually say these games are my favorite in the series.
GT7 doesn't have that? I jumped ship to pc but I want to get a ps5 solely for GT7 (and GTA6, whenever it comes out...) but if it doesnt have the same feel, I might reconsider that
Physics are significantly better than the older ones alright. I’m sick of people saying that “gT4 iS pEaK oF rAcInG gAmE!2!1!1!1!1!” and forget that the physics make very little sense xd
I used to enjoy the online Shuffle Race Mode. Where the room owner would set the track & pp level, then when you joined the race you would be assigned a random car within that pp range.
@@DoVe_7 I liked around 380pp where it was light-mid sportscars, with the S2000s, Silvias, 180SXs, early Lancers, Liberty & some Euro cars. all going for it. it was usually a great laugh on CS tyres for most.
@@RARDingo why was that not a thing in GT6? What a shame! I had a lot of fun in GT6 goofin' around doing laps with randoms on lobbies, wether it was drifting, cruising, or just being an idiot for the laughs while driving a neon green prius with pink rims
I loved it. Bought it in 2011 and played it for a few years. Only complaint was the engine noises and the used cars were clearly half baked and directly ported from GT4. That said, it made up for the sheer volume and range of used cars you could buy and it changed every time you went in, keeping it interesting. GT5 is a certified great
I don't think this was a disappointment, sure, it isn't exactly as good as previous titles and the void interior of standard cars is a bit disappointing, but in general, I think graphically it was a nice improvement, the driving feels a lot better than GT4 as it's a lot less understeery (and I personally think the handling is better than GT6, too). Sounds were a lot better too, and personally this game's menu music was my favourite. It wasn't as big of a leap forward as the PS2 GT titles but on its own, it's still a very good game. I think the hate towards this game came from the disappointment when it was originally released, people expected more from it.
A the time it was disappointment. I remember a lot of people mad about Standard cars and track textures. Some of them looked as directly taken out from GT4. Opinions were mixed. But of course Premium cars and for ex. Eiger Nordwand looked astonishing.
GT5 was the first game i played online as a kid, loved every bit of it. I’m of the opinion that more cars were a good call, and I didn’t mind a little lower res and no detailed interior. The single player was still pretty good and the special events were really fun, I think this game has aged pretty well but not as well as games like GT4
5:38 Hey Dove, actually you can speed up B-Spec mode just like in GT4: hold L1 to go to the telemetry screen, then press right on the D-pad three times to speed it up to 3x.
I just don't like the lack of challenge. It sucks that in every race there's like two overpowered cars that you just cant beat unless you upgrade your car, and once you do, you beat them all too easily... it's so boring... I remember in gran turismo PSP, which didn't even have a career, at least every race your opponents were comparable in performance.
Ohh play the gran turismo 5 prologue version. All opponents were of a similar difficulty, and none of this tune up nonsense (until you beat the game) that goes on noawadays. It was way more fun (gt 5 prologue was the demo for gt 5 but it was still a full game in its own right and it’s the one I grew up on)
Bought it 2 days before release back in November 2010, after GT3 and GT4 yes it was a disappointment. The game felt half baked, lots of loading screens, more cars but less race events somehow and this stupid PP system.
That, and I also remember not being able to tweak your gear ratios at launch, weird japanese game show music, rolling starts, being unable to sell prize cars and winning them over again after doing a event. And maybe it’s just me but I remember people being pretty negative about GT5 and 6, so to see most people being so positive about them is very strange to me.
They did a feature where you can transfer a limited amount of cars you bought from GTPSP to GT5. Unfortunately it's only for Arcade mode. When GT5 released, I had a real PSP and had a real copy of GTPSP and the game itself had a screen explaining this feature, I assumed it was a quick way to start GT5 but nope it wasn't the case. They basically streamlined the career a little too much in GT5. The PSP game atleast was literally a _sandbox to do whatever you want_ GT4 port.
After years i still love GT5. The memories of waking up early in the morning before school, checking if the collectors dealership had some new legendary cars from the old games...
Honestly? I've NEVER noticed the "standard" cars were any more pixelated than the "premium" ones. Sure, the interior view, and following that - see-through windows (and headlights/taillights) made you able to instantly tell if it's a premium car or not, but as far as the car model is concerned, especially as a kid, I've never noticed any major differences.
I think the biggest problem with GT5 is lackluster GT Mode. With only 9 events in each series, some of them having a single race only, you can progress through the game very quickly. It doesn't help that despite having new Rally tracks (rebuilt Chamonix, Toscana), they're barely ever seen in GT mode. Even when I played as a kid who also grew up with GT4, I recognized these issues. They decided to do way too many things all at once (bringing Ferrari and Lambo's in GT for the first time, making collaborations with professional drivers etc.), to the point that it affected the overall gameplay. Still, I had a great time playing it.
GT5 and GT6 felt great. The sheer quantity of cars, endurance racers, some limited customisation and a great online. Spent so much time online! The variety of GT5 was great too, I remember the spec 2 update really made the game so fun at the time.
At 2:31 I shouted out loud, the S2000 LM has always been a favourite car of mine since GT3. Any time it’s showcased by anyone I fanboy lol. Another great video essay! I’ve been playing GT5 over the last few months myself, and honestly even with all its faults it’s still a fun game. It’s funny, we all complained about it back before 6 came out, then hated on it when 6 seemed to fix all the problems…and now that 7 is out and has just as many, if not more problems, many of us are going back and playing or praising GT5. While it’s not my favourite entry in the series, honestly it’s down there as one of my least favourites, the high amount of cars and classic tracks more than makes up for the lacklustre GT mode.
I wasn't even sure if I had played GT5, until I saw the VW busses goin ham. They should have had landmines on the track during the Kubelwagen race though, then you'd want to avoid taking the lead for a bit...
it 100% was a disappointment. teasing players with completely remodeled high quality cars with interior view, 6 years of development... just to screw over the playerbase with 90% of the car list being lazily ported from GT4, paid dlc packs and the stupid player level system.
I bought this game as it was my first car game on ps3, if not my first game on ps3 at all, after a while, they introduced the gt6, and i didn't know that there were online races like that, when i started to create a ps3 account, they stopped supporting gt5, so i have never ever tried the online, although i am in career offline, sometimes it gets boring as i am playing alone. Ps3 is my first and only console i have. I still play the game time to time tho, once in months. If we could bring bag the online servers it would be awesome.
Was GT5 a disappointment? Absolutely not. This was my first GT game alongside GT3, and it will always be the best one imo. The love the UI in the menus, the races and special events are a blast, the new content like the Course Maker is great, the immense car list is amazing, (even with the black interiors, those never bothered me before, even today) and the soundtrack is genuinely incredible. The driving physics especially are awesome, leagues better then the stiff handling GT4 had. Best GT game imo, and it got even better with the Master Mod, hopefully you make a vid on that soon, it's a blast too.
I genuinely liked it as a kid and I remember when my uncle bought it when I was younger but I was never allowed to touch his ps3 so I didn't get to play it until like a year before the servers shutdown then I was able to upgrade to gran turismo 6 and had a similar story there
I never got to play Gran Turismo 5, but I remember the hype around it and the following disappointment. In retrospect, it looks pretty good and I would love to give it a shot one day. I do admit, the Premium/Standard split is slightly disappointing, but still, there's lots of cars to enjoy.
Not really, maybe can't equally success from GT3 & GT4 But, it still quiet decent also you seems have a lot of fun with those unique challenge you played
I think that it can be the better. Still got the charm of the old one, but with good graphics and handling. The perfect balance, even if with some flaws.
(Sorry for the long text) Gran Turismo 5 is one of the most underrated Gran Turismo. Ita basically GT4 but with clipped content and given more priority to the Online Modality But still having a very decent GT Mode than the earliers Gran Turismo. Maybe the B-Spec mode it could be one of the great falls of this game, are the same races than in A-Spec Mode just only with more Laps. Also the: 1. Repeated cars. bunch of: Honda's S2000 Mazda's Rx7 Nissan Skyline's R32, R33, R34 Mitsubishi's Lancer Mitsubishi's 2000GT And more ones.) 2.Poor Car Customization (compared to Gran Turismo 6.) 3. Probably the most notorious in GT Mode is the AI in the races. 4. And the most unfair thing is the fact of how broken is this game in your progress. Example: There is a championship called, "Tuning Car Championship". The car oponents that will appear in the races are just only Modified Cars. But there is no specific regulations on how you can pass this Championship, this means that you can pass it with every car. Even with a Super GT car, making you the races very easier. And this is not the only one in throughout the game. Having a very untidy progress the game. Thats why i recomend played or giving the chance to played with the "Stock" cars, and the same ones of your oponents to have more fun and making more challenging the game. After all the negative points, is definitely NOT a bad game, you can played it the way that whatever you want, given an "Agency for the player". Its a really cool and underrated game in my opinion that i enjoyed a Lot.
No need to be sorry for long texts I actually enjoy reading comments like these and yea I agree with the points in there it's still a decent game with a few set backs
Honestly I liked the game but that leveling system killed it for me, so so badly. Actually one of the reasons I prefer GT6 over this one. That and the endurance events not being actual 24 hours
Man i miss those times! The online community features were much better sending car's, paint and other things and each person had a page you could type on... PP system that actually worked and better lobby settings...
My personnal opinion about GT5 is that the game were focused on the content with a litteral conversion of all GT4 cars to GT5 (with the Standard and Premium segregation type) which makes no interest to stick with Standard Cars due of the big differences. (At least, they do not give recycled cars as DLC like Forza games). But, for a PS3 game, i found as a good GT Game which kept all of their core aura before they destroyed with GT Sport and 7.
it was the last gran turismo game that wasnt a disappointment to me. the standard cars sucked, but aside from that i enjoyed it. i miss the car painting and color collecting feature a lot anytime i replay the PS2 titles lol. 6 was awful when they decided to delete endurance races which were the peak of gran turismo games for me, and other stuff that i forgot at this point. i played 5 easily 10 times the amount compared to 6..
I got some bad news, it saddens me that the speaker did not mention. If you were here at the time of grand turismo 5 and the prologue you’ll understand. Grand turismo 5 was a horrible game that let not only myself down, especially if you played the competitors racing game before it. The competitors racing game had less cars but its gameplay was phenomenal let alone its customization options. Omg ! The speaker forgot to mention about how empty the game lobby was online when it was free to play back in the ps3 era.
This game was literally the only thing I played from 2015 to when the disc refused to work in 2017. I had other games on my PS3 like LBP2 and GTAV but GT5 was pretty much the only thing I played. Then in early 2021, when we moved somewhere else, I bought a new GT5 disc and it was a time where the only thing left for me in GT6 was that last star at that dumbass Kart 125 shifter race at GT arena and had literally nothing else to do in the game (the boredom got to the point where I went to get the Platinum trophy for GT6, that I didn't get, and got hyped because I can afford a new car, also for the Platinum trophy). Then in August of the same year, disaster struck once again: my PS3 gave up and doesn't work anymore. I was crying that day andI still do almost 2 years later. EDIT: I spent 20 minutes writing this
I played GT3 on PS2 and GT PSP in my childhood, later on my cousin gave me his PS3 and his games, GT5 was amazing, despite the online servers being down, it was alot fun. I am still yet to play GT6 but I moved onto GT Sport and got really good at it online and later played GT4 on emulator, it was a good game but lacked any personal nostalgia.
@@bernardlaus9996 the only offroad races in GT6 are just 3 short races on dirt and no snow races and no brand new tracks added. It's a shame because I absolutely love the offroad physics for the PS3 games
This was my first Granturismo game. I loved it so much, i wish it was just as good as gt7. I never played Granturismo 4 because I had an xbox and not an ps2 maybe then gt4 would be my favorite
Bu BUT it has AESTHETIC! As for missing content from past events, you can mod the game with GT Master Mod. It will force ALL cars to be available for purchase or added by mod menu
GT5 has MANY flaws but it is still one of my favourites games. I've spent so many hours into this game. Be glad you are playing the latest update, if you were there at the time, it was rough, at the beginning standard cars were non paintable, couldn't swap wheels and had no interior view. Still since it was the first GT with online most of us where playing there and random car races were a blast, shame the servers are closed now.
I played every Gran Turismo released up to the sixth edition. I agree that with each release, something new was allocated or improved, always. For me the most important release was Gran Turismo 4, and it was probably the one I played the most, also due to all this time to release GT5. When GT5 was released, I remember buying the PS3, the steering wheel (G29) and everything needed, such was the expectation. GT5 for me is an excellent game and I had a lot of fun with it. I remember that at launch several problems bothered me, such as crashes for no reason, fluctuation in fps and many other bugs, which were corrected. GT6, on the other hand, was very different, it disappointed me, as I understand that it was the one with the least evolution compared to the previous one, and GT Sport took me out of the franchise, as I migrated to Asseto Corsa, and never returned. But if I like cars, I owe it to Gran Turismo.
Gran turismo 5 was my favorite until I tried gran turismo 4, now I see it's flaws, the main one being just...the game is too short, not enough championship, like, gran turismo is perfect but too short
been playing through this recently and im at the point where im now just refreshing the used car dealership to get the formula GT so i can finally finish every event
I love clipping the last corner on the Trial Mountain course and seeing if I can roll my car past the finish line. It’s virtually impossible to flip any car on GT7, unless you have a Hellcat engine swap in an army Jeep. I wish it could still be done, so many satisfying replays of destruction I have.
I'm not sure why, but 5 managed to keep my attention better than 6. I did play through most of 5, but quit 6 pretty early on. Still to this day, 1 and 2 are the only ones i've ever had the patience to 100%, while 2 being my absolute favourite of the series
For the amount of delays it had when it first launched to the last minute reveal that a lot of the cars were just recycled from GT4 and had no interiors, it was still a fun enjoyable game
Pro tip: when you're about to get flashbanged tap rear view to reset the exposure (note: for tracks that are overall brighter or darker you can change the exposure in the pause menu to your taste)
Gran Turismo five was awesome after it had been out for a couple years and it had some very challenging license test and events! Getting the platinum was quite the task!! Online racing every day was also very enjoyable with a good force feedback racing wheel
I think Gran Turismo 5 was quite a decent game, I mean it was not as great as GT3 and GT4 but the online really was what made the game good. The seasonal events were for the most part amazing and they gave great amount of money on a very short time and they switched them up like almost every month. Shuffle races were also very fun, it was a shame they got rid of them in GT6 as well. But also the online lobbies were not that bad and there weren't as many connection issues compared to GT7
GT5 made my childhood better. I still remember playing it against my dad and getting absolutely destroyed. I miss those days... yeah, this will forever be my favorite GT.
Another well done video! Props to you and your editor for putting this out. Truth be told the amount of extra content in this is rather interesting: rallying, nascar, the Mercedes Academy and Top Gear stuff. Lots of variety.
i understand about standard cars. but think about it like this. 1079 cars..... If polyphony made them all premium it would be called Gran Turismo Forever than Gran Turismo 5
It triggered the hay days of the GT-Academy. Although not even close to realism as iRacing in that era. Super accessible. GT5 was a game changer. We used to race between different forum crews. It was the best racing game of it's era.
I have a soft spot for this game since it was the first gran turismo game I played and one of the first ever console games I ever played. Back in 5th grade, I saved up enough money to buy a used ps3 that came with a few games, and one of them was gt5. I played the hell out of this game and got me into cars as a kid, and seeing clips of this game makes me nostalgic. During the pandemic, my ps3 died, and I can't play this game anymore since I don't have a pc or laptop powerful enough to emulate it.
Wow compared to gran turismo 5 prologue this looks like a convoluted mess. I’m so glad my introduction to the gran turismo series was the 5 prologue. I guess less cars and tracks really is better when the effort is done better!! I will always love that game 😇😇
In 2024 some of the maps just fail to load. I even bought a brand new sealed copy thinking it could have been a scratch. I often feel like I’m playing roulette when loading up a race.
Especially once you added all the previous Gran Turismo games soundtrack to the custom soundtrack feature, in addition to all of your favorite music in general, this made playing Gran Turismo five and doing races with your friends amazing!! Especially if you had a couple PS3 and a couple HD TV set up in the same room with force-feed backbreaking wheels hooked up to eat, just made it awesome for when you finish the race and we’re ready to watch the replay!!!
If you’re doing a playthrough since the servers shut down it’s complete hell. - No seasonal events or 2X money for 5 days of login so easy money is pretty much non existant - The Formula GT NEVER appears in the Used Car Dealership. I’ve been waiting YEARS for it to show up so I can finally complete the game to 100% but it just won’t show up.
the cars DO have damage models, not all and definitely not the standard ones. Racing modifications were present on GT1 and GT2 but got removed from GT3 and GT4. You could've also talked about the online experience, although the servers are now gone, you can still play using programs like xlink kai and a mod to GT5 that would allow you to play some of the fun gamemodes that are gone from the series like the shuffle race.
I remember playing GT2 and GT4 alot, but when GT5 came out I literally played it every day. This was the game that made me fall in love with the GT series. I didn't mind the standard cars or the level system too much. I was especially impressed with the dynamic conditions on some tracks. :) (and that soundtrack) 😍
I'll forever find stupidly hilarious that IGN review quoting "the music is awful" or something among those line. Only for it to become a quite good soundtrack many years later, especially the jazz soundtrack. IGN always proving how much of a clown site they are since 2010 onwards.
TBCH, I have Gran Turismo 5 as probably my least favorite game of the franchise. BUT, one thing that actually did well overall, was the overall soundtrack, both for racing and menus. The last Gran Turismo overall good soundtrack after Gran Turismo 3. Gran Turismo 4 and 6 were better games than 5, but those games fell short in terms of soundtrack (the songs aren't necesarilly bad, but they weren't as good as GT5 or GT3)
Gran Turismo 5 was better than Gran Turismo 6. Programming and ai was a lot more stable with less game crashes. Gran Turismo 6 was very inaccurate in speed measurements with the bots being more aggressive and many more. GT6 is what led me to stop playing Gran Turismo games.
It's really interesting to go back and see each Consoles first major racing releases and how they had similar issues regarding car content despite the differences in their other aspects. I definitely think GT5 beat out Forza Motorsport 5 though in terms of quality but both signalled such a shift from their predecessors that both Series are still reeling from.
I actually played 5 after 6, no regrets, the leveling system was up for the challenge (and getting annoyed some fans too), the only thing that I hated was, waiting half of a year for a Formula GT to clean up Extreme Events, and that was no joke.
Personally, I came from playing GT4 as my first ever GT game. When I first got GT5 it was great, I loved that we finally had in car views, and the car roster was insane. But then as time went on and I played other racing games, I realized there was a lack of passion. I also didn't realize until years later how spoiled I was for having that be my first ever GT game, which I realized when I played GT Sport for the first time a few years ago. It felt like some soil had come back to the franchise, and while the career mode has definitely taken a backseat, I think it's still there and returning with the newer titles.
Compared to GT7 the Singleplayer campaign remain way better and therefore the games aged fairly well. Its no magic GT4 but the graphics are a welcome upgrade. I play GT5 Prologue and even GT6 on RPCS3. They are not completely bug- free but definatley playable :) What I like about GT5 Prologue is that it only has " Premium" cars in it, the standard cars look like AI- versions compared to them. Worst thing about GT6 is that you are forced to buy a Honda Fit at the start, bad omen for what came with GT7 ;)
The damage was great, kind of what you could expect from Polyphony on PS3, but not tweaked right. Hard enough crashes have dents generate on the fly, like in a burnout game, but a lot more toned down. I think a better curve for how much it dented would have worked wonders. Small crashes get bigger dents, but won't get much bigger with crashing 4x faster. On the "premium" cars it can look pretty nice, and on standards it works well enough, but can look a bit weird sometimes, with parts stretching that shouldn't, like a headlight. I was surprised to learn recently while playing on Xenia that Forza Horizon seems to have real time damage too. Not sure about Motorsport.
Ive been playing this game for over 10 years now. Still havent upgraded to even ps4 yet haha. I cant for the life of me get racing modifications to work on ANY cars thought. How did you do that?
Gt5 is super addictive, great soundtrack and car selection. The AI likes to rubberband on you when you try to pass them, you can get locked out of progression after a time when you need a race car, but you spent all your money collecting kei cars etc, but it is still super nifty, and I think the cars handle better in general than Gt4.
GT5 showed PD were human. I played them all up to that and they were amazing. It was a great title, but felt compromised in a way that GT4 was not. I remember people being a bit miffed with the lack of cars in GT3, but everyone I knew agreed it was as ground breaking as the first 2 titles. The standard cars were quite controversial.
The damage system is a little odd in that for some cars it's very detailed, but the collisions themselves are bumper car nonsense and the visual damage you get doesn't really feel right. You can get body parts to fall off, but it takes forever for this to happen. Also GT bring back carbon hoods. 5 and 6 had them, why can't 7?!

The single player was still pretty good and the special events were really fun, I think this game has aged pretty well but not as well as games like GT4
The game itself was great, and compared to the newer ones, defo better
5:38 Hey Dove, actually you can speed up B-Spec mode just like in GT4: hold L1 to go to the telemetry screen, then press right on the D-pad three times to speed it up to 3x.
This does not work for me.
@@RS-lfdkb did you continue holding L1 as you pressed the D-pad?
@@JebMotorsport yes I did. It changes nothing for me. Just to be clear, this is for GT5?
Thanks
Have your tried this at all?
I just don't like the lack of challenge. It sucks that in every race there's like two overpowered cars that you just cant beat unless you upgrade your car, and once you do, you beat them all too easily... it's so boring...
I remember in gran turismo PSP, which didn't even have a career, at least every race your opponents were comparable in performance.
Except for Gran Turismo 1 and PSP, all of the GT games suffered the same issue
Ohh play the gran turismo 5 prologue version. All opponents were of a similar difficulty, and none of this tune up nonsense (until you beat the game) that goes on noawadays. It was way more fun (gt 5 prologue was the demo for gt 5 but it was still a full game in its own right and it’s the one I grew up on)
@@brandonhealy7158
That sounds excellent but that game is so short ToT
Bought it 2 days before release back in November 2010, after GT3 and GT4 yes it was a disappointment. The game felt half baked, lots of loading screens, more cars but less race events somehow and this stupid PP system.
That, and I also remember not being able to tweak your gear ratios at launch, weird japanese game show music, rolling starts, being unable to sell prize cars and winning them over again after doing a event. And maybe it’s just me but I remember people being pretty negative about GT5 and 6, so to see most people being so positive about them is very strange to me.
Yeah there's really not much to do compared to GT4... and the races are so unbalanced...
I had a challenge idea once where you would only use the cars imported from GTPSP to this game but yea shame it's only in arcade mode
Still, I had a great time playing it.
i actually think 9 events in each series are quite enough for an series, knowing how long it takes sometimes.....
YEAH LE MANS IM TALKING TO YOU.
I just watch this and realized that this is just a better version of GT7
6:32 my bumpers have literally almost fall off and rally car doors fall of and standards get smushed.
The only Disappointment was that i didn't had a PS3
To be honest Gran Turismo five was one of the best games in the series-
Was GT5 a disappointment? Absolutely not. This was my first GT game alongside GT3, and it will always be the best one imo. The love the UI in the menus, the races and special events are a blast, the new content like the Course Maker is great, the immense car list is amazing, (even with the black interiors, those never bothered me before, even today) and the soundtrack is genuinely incredible. The driving physics especially are awesome, leagues better then the stiff handling GT4 had. Best GT game imo, and it got even better with the Master Mod, hopefully you make a vid on that soon, it's a blast too.
Actually working on Master mod vid which should be out in the next couple weeks
I genuinely liked it as a kid and I remember when my uncle bought it when I was younger but I was never allowed to touch his ps3 so I didn't get to play it until like a year before the servers shutdown then I was able to upgrade to gran turismo 6 and had a similar story there
Gran tourismo 5 is my favourite gt and i still play it D:
I never got to play Gran Turismo 5, but I remember the hype around it and the following disappointment. In retrospect, it looks pretty good and I would love to give it a shot one day. I do admit, the Premium/Standard split is slightly disappointing, but still, there's lots of cars to enjoy.
Not really, maybe can't equally success from GT3 & GT4
But, it still quiet decent also you seems have a lot of fun with those unique challenge you played
I think that it can be the better. Still got the charm of the old one, but with good graphics and handling. The perfect balance, even if with some flaws.
GT5 felt rushed
GT7 feels incomplete
(Sorry for the long text)
Gran Turismo 5 is one of the most underrated Gran Turismo.
Ita basically GT4 but with clipped content and given more priority to the Online Modality
But still having a very decent GT Mode than the earliers Gran Turismo.
Maybe the B-Spec mode it could be one of the great falls of this game, are the same races than in A-Spec Mode just only with more Laps.
Also the:
1. Repeated cars.
bunch of: Honda's S2000
Mazda's Rx7
Nissan Skyline's R32, R33, R34
Mitsubishi's Lancer
Mitsubishi's 2000GT
And more ones.)
2.Poor Car Customization (compared to Gran Turismo 6.)
3. Probably the most notorious in GT Mode is the AI in the races.
4. And the most unfair thing is the fact of how broken is this game in your progress.
Example:
There is a championship called, "Tuning Car Championship".
Yea the level system was a bit annoyin I agree, especially you find a good car in the dealerships but can't buy it yet cause of low level
I dont mind level system
Man i miss those times! The online community features were much better sending car's, paint and other things and each person had a page you could type on... PP system that actually worked and better lobby settings...
ost name 0:44 ?
Truly, the Turismo 5 was Gran
My personnal opinion about GT5 is that the game were focused on the content with a litteral conversion of all GT4 cars to GT5 (with the Standard and Premium segregation type) which makes no interest to stick with Standard Cars due of the big differences. (At least, they do not give recycled cars as DLC like Forza games).
But, for a PS3 game, i found as a good GT Game which kept all of their core aura before they destroyed with GT Sport and 7.
idk, was it? 🤔
it was the last gran turismo game that wasnt a disappointment to me. the standard cars sucked, but aside from that i enjoyed it. i miss the car painting and color collecting feature a lot anytime i replay the PS2 titles lol.
6 was awful when they decided to delete endurance races which were the peak of gran turismo games for me, and other stuff that i forgot at this point. i played 5 easily 10 times the amount compared to 6..
Gt5 is one of my favorite games in the series. I don’t know what it is about it but it’s so charming…
Hi Mr.I am a lousy guy in my moms basement. nice to meet you
This game was literally the only thing I played from 2015 to when the disc refused to work in 2017.
Agree, that karting track race has nothing to do here, why are the rally challenges in A-Spec gone???
@@bernardlaus9996 the only offroad races in GT6 are just 3 short races on dirt and no snow races and no brand new tracks added. It's a shame because I absolutely love the offroad physics for the PS3 games
This was my first Granturismo game. I loved it so much, i wish it was just as good as gt7. I never played Granturismo 4 because I had an xbox and not an ps2 maybe then gt4 would be my favorite
That first song is from which game?
The most disappointing thing about GT5 was how they butchered my boy Jeff Gordon
What ISO would you recommend? Any mods?
The Master mod is fun for this game, have a video on that
Bu BUT it has AESTHETIC!
As for missing content from past events, you can mod the game with GT Master Mod. It will force ALL cars to be available for purchase or added by mod menu
Yea a Master mod video will be out hopefully next week or so
Every gran turismo after GT4 was a disappointment. GT5 and GT7 stand out as the greatest disappointments though. Didn’t even bother with GT6 after 5.
When it got released it was a massive disappointment to most people I knew who had it lol.
Have you played Academy Edition? If so what does that version offer over Prologue, Regular and XL?
I still play gran turismo 5 till this day it's a great game
Short answer: No
Long answer: No because I am happy my bugatti veyron goes 486km/h and I can also use it in any event
That's honestly what I hated the most just having to do for certent cars, if you have GT5 Master Mod it has all of the cars available to purchase
Absolutely loved tbis game, have been wanting to replay it for ages but no longer have my ps3
Gt5 was luxurious
Personally it wasn’t. It was the first game I rolled credits on since the first Gran Turismo.
_Was Gran Turismo 5 a Dissapointment?_
OF COURSE IT WAS
i understand about standard cars. but think about it like this.
The first ever gt game i was dissapointed in. And the first one i traded in. There were signs of gt7 in it
I have a soft spot for this game since it was the first gran turismo game I played and one of the first ever console games I ever played.
The best gran turismo, The most complete one, always in my heart
Especially once you added all the previous Gran Turismo games soundtrack to the custom soundtrack feature, in addition to all of your favorite music in general, this made playing Gran Turismo five and doing races with your friends amazing!!
Especially if you had a couple PS3 and a couple HD TV set up in the same room with force-feed backbreaking wheels hooked up to eat, just made it awesome for when you finish the race and we’re ready to watch the replay!!!
If you’re doing a playthrough since the servers shut down it’s complete hell.
- No seasonal events or 2X money for 5 days of login so easy money is pretty much non existant
- The Formula GT NEVER appears in the Used Car Dealership. I’ve been waiting YEARS for it to show up so I can finally complete the game to 100% but it just won’t show up.
Yea that is true, thankfully with the Master Mod you can purchase that car in the normal dealership
@@DoVe_7 how do you get it?
the cars DO have damage models, not all and definitely not the standard ones.
(and that soundtrack) 😍
Theres actually a LOT MORE that you can control, in B-Spec mode
It's really interesting to go back and see each Consoles first major racing releases and how they had similar issues regarding car content despite the differences in their other aspects.
I definitely think GT5 beat out Forza Motorsport 5 though in terms of quality but both signalled such a shift from their predecessors that both Series are still reeling from.
I actually played 5 after 6, no regrets, the leveling system was up for the challenge (and getting annoyed some fans too), the only thing that I hated was, waiting half of a year for a Formula GT to clean up Extreme Events, and that was no joke.
Tried since 3 months now to obtain that formula car but never came to the dealer list, now that's enough
@@bernardlaus9996theres sources online where you can check how close you are to obtaining it
Personally, I came from playing GT4 as my first ever GT game.
I can’t believe that I bought ps3 just for GT5 and to be disappointed
I changed Assassin's Creed 3 for Gran Turismo 5...
I'm still regretting of that decision
Racing modifications were also available in GT1 (or was it 2? I'm not sure at the moment), so it's not necessarily a new feature.
Hello, Jeff Gordon
Bro the car damage is not just dents, its not just a scratch too,the car can alsp crumble but the bumpers can not fall off
GT5 is the best Gran Turismo game, along GT4
Compared to GT7 the Singleplayer campaign remain way better and therefore the games aged fairly well. Its no magic GT4 but the graphics are a welcome upgrade. I play GT5 Prologue and even GT6 on RPCS3. They are not completely bug- free but definatley playable :) What I like about GT5 Prologue is that it only has " Premium" cars in it, the standard cars look like AI- versions compared to them. Worst thing about GT6 is that you are forced to buy a Honda Fit at the start, bad omen for what came with GT7 ;)
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is worth playing is i have the Gran Turismo 5 already?
@@eduardolobos7380 no, its a smaller game with less content compared to GT5. I just have it because it runs better on RPCS3
You forgot to mention that you can import some cars from PSP data save game which was featured in the Console.
Yea but it's mainly for arcade only not career mode
Gt5 is super addictive, great soundtrack and car selection. The AI likes to rubberband on you when you try to pass them, you can get locked out of progression after a time when you need a race car, but you spent all your money collecting kei cars etc, but it is still super nifty, and I think the cars handle better in general than Gt4.
Replaying this on RSPC3 in QHD at around 47 FPS average with high details, looks amazing
I can remember playing gran turismo 5 for the first time and it absolutely blowing my mind
