    People like this are just amazing to me. They delve deep into their roots and present it so beautifully and don't get the praise that they truly deserve.

      AFR0PUNKHEAD13 I agree 100%. You can see, when he plays/sings ,he actually, "goes there", in his mind, with his voice, playing the instrument,all that. He's the Real Deal. I'm glad people like him can find and tap into their roots, so to speak. It'd be great if all cultures could do that on a musical level. Make their own instruments, sing their old songs, the culture that they happen to be from this time around(if you believe in the whole...reincarnation thing ). 😉

      And then some leftiee came to this party and suddenly spit out of it's mouth that national heritage is something that shouldn't be involved in modern civilization and it needs to be destroyed because separeted culture of a country itself is racist. And It didn't happen for some reason.
      If I'd ever loose my mind and try to confront mentioned lefitst with arguments why It should stay where it is, I mean culture as it stands (music, history, art, tools etc.) I'd be literally called nazi. Do you see my point? There's not gonna be any more art, music performances like this because It will OFFEND someone even If it's already written history. And I don't think that history needs to be re-written, history is past where was something innapropriate even offensive, but that's how it was.. Destroying it would destroy us all.

    • @pimasweets5638

      Viking - translates directly to "Sea Raider". He's actually professed that he is a very peaceful, quiet person. He doesn't raid, nor is he a seafarer. He is a Skald (Nordic bards and story tellers through song and performance were and still are called Skalds). Good try though!

    • @cutiesoupia
      @cutiesoupia 3 года назад +1

      @Mac Kent I think the word you shouldve used is northman, or norseman.
      As a viking was the lads who raided the isles and sailed the seas.
      Einar is a skald, a sort of musician, if you may.

    I just just love how during his whole performance its complete silence and focus to the song it self. Not the hype of the artist that stands before them. Its just pure humble artistery that not need any main stream hype to be appreciated. Einar Selvik and Wardruna is genious work of art!

      Ragnar's death scenes in the TV series were extremely cheesy, but they redeemed themselves in the very next episode where he "welcomes the Valkyries to summon him" to Valhalla. Very cool.

    I'm from Yorkshire in the north of England and the Vikings settled here when they invaded. I'm currently waiting for my ancestry DNA kit to arrive and I pray that my DNA has Scandinavian decent. I'm fascinated by the Vikings and Saxons also but if I find I hail from this ancestry I'll be thrilled.

    • @courtneystancil4216

      Wayne Saunders my Last name is Stancil which is Anglo Saxon, and originated in I think either in south or north Yorkshire . My DNA test (23andme) said I have Scandinavian dna, but mostly 56% Irish .

    • @waynesaunders1151
      @waynesaunders1151 7 лет назад

      Courtney Stancil thanks for the reply courtney. I'd just be really proud to know I hail from these great people. Also I really like the Saxon idea too this period of time fascinates me. Did you do the same DNA kit test? 👍.

      @courtneystancil4216 7 лет назад

      Wayne Saunders which dna test did you do? I did 23andme. With your information about the Viking invading Yorkshire, that may be where my Scandinavian comes from(hopefully) it’s a stretch but I’m hoping.

    This song is called Ormagardskvedi
    It's an Excerpt from Ragnars saga loðbrókar.
    Eigi hugðak orma
    at aldrlagi mínu
    verðr mjök mörgu sinni,
    þats minnst varir sjálfan.
    Eigi hugðak orma
    at aldrlagi mínu
    verðr mjök mörgu sinni,
    þats minnst varir sjálfan.
    Nú munk nár af bragði
    ok nær dýrum deyja.
    Gnyðja mundu grísir,
    ef galtar hag vissi,
    mér er gnótt at grandi,
    grafa inn rönum sínum
    ok harðliga hváta,
    hafa mik sogit, ormar
    nú munk nár af bragði
    ok nær dýrum deyja.
    [English translation:]
    I did not look to a snake
    To be my bane
    Things happen very often
    To one that one thinks of the least
    I did not look to a snake
    To be my bane;
    Things happen very often
    To one that one thinks of the least
    Soon now will my body
    Die among the beasts
    The young pigs would squeal
    If they knew the state of the boar
    Of the injury done to me
    Snakes dig in my flesh
    Stab at me harshly
    And have sucked on me
    Soon now will my body
    Die among the beasts

    Why are English people so reluctant to take a massive leaf out of this guy's book. I LOVE my England but I despair at its loss and all it's beautiful history. We can do just this. Be proud of who we were. The country is utterly full are parasites now but we still have a history and we should relish it. Make good honest and patriotic songs about the country we love and THEY ruined!!!

      Magus Megorra it's sad my friend I am also English and love my history I'm patriotic but I've been called a racist so many times for being proud of my ancestry my history and my England... I'm so far from being racist I'm just a proud Englishman.....!

      The UK has so much P-Celtic, Q-Celtic, Norwegian, Danish, and imperial cultural history. The myth that Anglo-Saxons, or their Danish/Norwegian cousins, replaced indigenous people has greatly damaged cultural history in the UK. You might appreciate the fact that the last native Cornish speaker died in the 1800s. You are lamenting lost UK culture, correct?

      Never be ashamed of your heritage, not ever. Good and bad made those that made us. This is true of all people's lineage. You can be proud of your ancestry, I wish all people could look to their lineage and be proud or be inspired by it. How truly sad it is that so many people now days are ashamed of those whose struggle, victories and accomplishments have allowed for them to even exist here today. BE PROUD OF YOUR HERITAGE, AND BE NOT ASHAMED!
